This place has really good sandwiches. I like that they made the outdoor seating area, it used to seem kinda crowded without it. It's nice to come in here on a hot summer day, grab a sandwich (their "Turkado" is a personal favorite) and a beer, and chill for a while.

Local Favorite. Anyone who is coming through this little town, I highly suggest stopping here for a bite. Friendly vibes, great sandwiches, and an overall satisfying experience. Best part about this gem is that they have a sweet and sour type dipping sauce to accent the sandwich. bueno! Definitely one of the best little niches around!

I love this place. The sandwiches are huge and stuffed with all kinds of good stuff, and they have beer! Most of their sandwiches have avocado on them, which is awesome. Their tomato soup was pretty good, too. Outdoor seating which is nice.

You will definitely get your moneys worth!

I have been coming to this place regularly since I moved to San Clemente. The sandwiches are above average I feel. A lot of different hot and cold sandwiches. They have a house sauce that is pretty popular and a little spicy that I am pretty fond of.

They have a very nice little tap with about 6 different beers that are rotated pretty frequently. Some of them are a little strong for my taste but the employees will often let you sample one before you decide which is always nice. The staff is always friendly. I would recommend something but I am biased and get the same thing every time with the Baja Chicken.

Overall an above average joint for a sandwich shop, I frequently find myself going back there.

Baja chicken wrap is the best! Love the changing local craft brews, too. This place is packed on the weekends for lunch, so get there early!

    BEST SANDWHICH SHOP!

I wish I could invest in this place for Huntington or Laguna/Newport Beach!

EVERYTHING IS GOOD here!  The only thing that I thought was not amazing was the tuna, but everything is a "WOW" here... fresh bread, FAST service, good selection... just freaking awesome!!!

I have been to Board and Brew 3 times. The first time I got the Turkado with no onions. After reading the reviews I also got a side of the "secret sauce". When I got back to the office I poured the secret sauce on the sandwich and kept thinking they put onions on it so, I didn't even finish one half. The second time I went I got a customized sandwich, again with the sauce and one bite was great and the other not so much. Then it hit me that it was the sauce I didn't like not the sandwiches. I decided to try again last week and ordered the Roast Beef Spicy(with no onions). OMG! It was sooooo good. I was there at around 2pm on a Friday and the place was packed but, I got my sandwich within a few minutes and everyone was very friendly. I will definitely be back!!

One of the best, if not the best, sandwich shops in San Clemente! The Baja beef is the best I've ever tried and I would highly recommend this place! Even if your not from San Clemente, it's only minutes off the 5 freeway and well worth the drive!

I would have given this 5 stars, but I haven't tried enough on the menu to rate it's consistency.  If you want a $5 cookie-cutter footlong then go to Subway, but if you want a true artisan sandwich go here.  I went back twice in one week after I had my first sandwich from there.  It'll leave you licking your fingers and hungry for more.  Great portion size, reasonably priced.  Would continue to hit this place up.

I tried Board & Brew for the first time about 2 months ago....I'm in love. I've been twice in the past three days and I can't get enough of it. I love the Turkado, the countless options of Kettle Chips, and the beers! My boyfriend has tried pretty much every sandwich on the menu and I tend to stick to the various turkey sandwiches. Needless to say, this place is delicious. It has an awesome vibe with beautiful art inside...which I love. If you haven't been here yet, GO !

Have never cared for onions until I tried one of their sandwiches I think it was the turkado  the crunch and flavor went so well together. Sat at the bar while I waited...surprised at the great beers they had on tap, so I ordered one beer also. The guy behind the bar was nice, my phone was dead and he offered to plug it in and  charge it. I dont live in the area I just visit my husband once in while so I hope to return and try different items.

I love this place, great staff, fast service, not to mention the food and constantly changing selection of killer craft beer on tap..

Best sandwich? Hard to say, I love the Chicken Club,  or a Baja Wrap on any given day. When it gets colder the Beef Dip, or Perfect Pastrami with some of Angel's soup will hit the spot.

Great place to chill and have a sandwich and beer. A little small for the amount of crowd they attract. Would definitely come back but am giving it a four. Like I said it's a little small.every. There was absolutely no room last time I went and I had to go outside only to be told I couldn't take my beer (so where do I sit?).

Came to this local san clemente spot after doing some surfing on a recommendation from a friend.  It's a very busy place with practically a line out the door.  Their roast beef is made fresh daily and it definitely does taste fresh.  The size of the sandwiches should fill up the average person, I ended up eating 1.5 sandwich to be filled with content.  I think it would be difficult to get a sandwich that isn't good here as everyone was ordering something different and most things coming out looked fresh and good.  They have a house sauce that is slightly sweet that goes well with just about anything they serve, I would eat this place again if i'm in the neighborhood.

Favorite sandwich shop in San Clemente. Pretty unconventional, but very delicious. Good bread, fresh ingredients and definitely get a side of the sauce.

    Recommendations:
    Hot pastrami
    turkado
    double decker
    BEER!

A little expensive for what you get otherwise I would have given it a five star, but tasted pretty good. Mainly subs and sandwiches here, roast beef dips and sauce. Make sure to get the special house sauce.

    Fast, fresh and delish!

Spent the weekend at my family's place in San Clemente and found this place on yelp.  It definitely lived up to its rave reviews!  I ordered the Turkado - turkey and avocado on sourdough and was not disappointed.  Glad I found this place.

P.S. Make sure to try a side of the secret sauce if you go!

YUM! Their Chicken Caesar Salad was amazing. The staff was friendly and even though we did wait longer than expected for our food, it was definitely worth it. Great prices and a cool atmosphere. Love the idea of this place - casual hang out with good friends, good food, and maybe some good beer too.

Decided to try this place due to the pretty high reviews on Yelp...

    I ordered the Turkado on squaw...it was alright. The place reminded me of Wahoo's but instead of tacos, you get sandwiches! Only cool thing is that they have beer on tap and a mini bar area. The place seems to draw all the mid life crises surfer dudes with sideway baseball caps at the age of 50 -_-;

I'll stick to my usual sandwich joint that never fails me and that's just a couple of miles down the street - Humpfry's!

Great sandwiches and great beers. The place gets pretty busy sometimes but they still manage to get your order out pretty quick.

The sandwiches are all pretty big in size, so you get a good deal for what you pay.

Great place to stop and get a meal to take to the beach!

This place is pretty awesome. I think my favorite is the baja chicken, with no onions, and the sweet and sour sauce to dip. I also thoroughly enjoy micro brew which this place has on tap. They have about 6 beers on tap and it always changes. The beer is icie cold and the selection is usually top notch.

This is a 4.5 star post only because it is located in a strip mall.

    Love this place!

Chicken club on squaw or the tuna are my favorites

Great beers  and about $11 for a beer and a huge sandwich!

The sandwiches are big enough to share if your not that hungry.

Always quick even with the huge crowds around lunch time.

    The best of the best!!!

They never disappoint. The food is always the BOMB!!!

Toms choice, Beef dip, Baja chicken........in that order.

To the guy who says they need to learn how to make a pastrami sandwich........is it really that hard for you to tell them you only want yellow mustard, pastrami, and pickles?

If you ever wonder why stereotypes exist and certain place and people can identified a certain way, then come to board and brew.  It is so quintessentially San Clemente it made me a lil nauseous.

It has the surf laid back bro but family oriented vibe. Their kids menu is call the grommet menu, etc.  It is tucked away in BFE Talega. The "brew" part is a small surf "board" bar with a few good things on tap.  The menu is extensive and the lines very long.  This place is popular.

The baja chicken was good, not great.  It lacked heat and some flavor.  The turkey club wrap was extremely tasty.  I really enjoyed it.

Their signature thing seemed to be their sauces on the side: some sort of homemade sweet and sour that I could have drank a glass of, and some sort of horseradish sauce.  Everyone had sauces on the side.  I guess its how you flavor the food.

Cute spot good concept.  2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and a bag of chips $20.  I wouldn't pay more for a sandwich meal.

All in all if I lived in the area I would go regularly.

Found this place on yelp.  I was looking for non-franchise, mompop deli shop.  I read good reviews so I checked it out.

Good crowd.  I asked for the most popular sandwich.  Cashier recommends Chicken Club and Turkey sandwich.  I had the Chicken sandwich and I love the french bread, deliciously toasted.  Chicken breast was nice and moist.  Jack cheese inside was melted over the chicken.  I tried half without the house sauce because I wanted to taste the chicken.  I finished the sandwich with the house sauce.  Both good.

It was the bread that won me over.  Awesome!

Love this place. Coworkers and I frequent "BB" (as we refer to it as), at least once a week. Haven't really had anything that I didn't like here. They're secret sauce is mighty yums.

    My Favorites:
    - Chicken Club
    - Baja Beef (has a kick to it)
    - Grilled Cheese + Tomato Soup
    - Turkado
    - BLT

BB has good beers on tap as well.

Also love the staff, as they are very friendly and accommodating.

Wow. Greatest sandwich place EVER! Came here after getting my primp on and met up with some friends. They ordered for me beforehand so that I didn't have to wait (aww loves you).

I got the Baja Beef and man was it good. Every mouthful was delicious. With its tender marinated steak, grilled onions, jalapeños, melty melty jack cheese and a unique sweet tasting dipping sauce all it needed was a toasty French baguette to make it perfect. Oh wait! It had that! Sigh even the bread was delicious and not just an afterthought like many chain sandwich places tend to treat it.

The price was decent. I think I paid like $7.50 for mine and it's a nice filling portion. I only managed to eat half of it, though believe me, I really wanted to eat the other half. I didn't want to be a gluttonous pig though so I saved the other half for later. In fact...it's sitting in the fridge right now...calling to me..

In an area that is over crowded by strip malls, Board & Brew is a gem in a sea of big chains and big box retailers.

The unsuspecting sandwich shop is small and inviting with a bar area that serves beer on tap. The place has a decidedly non bar feel to it despite the bar, if that makes sense.

There are lots of sandwiches to choose; cold, hot, chicken, roast beef - they're all represented. The Tub 'O Tuna is a nice take on tuna salad sandwich that's full of good stuff and served on grainy, crusty bread.

After having resided in OC for four years, when I come back to visit, I still love finding unexpected surprises in strip malls.

Someone needs to tell these jokers how to make a flipping pastrami sandwich: bread, pickles, mustard and pastrami ONLY!  It's not that hard people.

    *UPDATED*

So I ate there again and it was alright.  They make a decent enough sandwich, but nothing that I would go out of my way for.

Overall the food is pretty good, better than average. But the teenagers in there running it didn't seem to care. I'll give them another shot, when I get down that way again.
Update: One of the owners contacted me about his employees. Its good to know that the owners care enough about their business to reach out to customers that have problems.

There is an old episode of The Simpsons, where Homer takes home a big sub sandwich from work.  He becomes obsessed with the sandwich, and eventually Marge has to take it away from him because she's worried about him.  I'm not at that point yet, but I have a dangerous love for the Baja Beef.  You know when you think of a sandwich and you start salivating like Pavlov's dogs?  That's me.
Here is one of my favorite things to do in life: sit at the bar in Board & Brew with my friends.  Dip a corner of the Baja Beef into the little container of orange sauce that comes with it.  Take a big bite, feeling the sauce and the juices fill my mouth.  The jalepenos numb my mouth and then my lips.  I follow my food with a big gulp of my micro-brew tap beer.  My eyes half-focus on the ocean pictures.  Then I transcend space and time.  Repeat until sandwich is done (and they are huge).

    I just keep coming back...
Maybe it's the lack of eating establishments in San Clemente. Maybe because it's just good. Who cares? I usually get the vegetarian sandwich (with some special sauce) and they have wonderful potato salad if you're feeling fancy. Top that off with a much needed cerveza and you're good to go.
I also like their cobb salad & baja wrap. Big and awesome. Just like me.

Their beer selection is pretty damn good too, they change em up pretty regularly.
Keep up the good work B&B

    ****Update****

My ONLY complaint about B&B is the fact that they seem to run out of food on a regular basis. Strike 1.
And also, they run people out of there when they feel like closing. If you say you close at 9 then close at 9, not 8:30, not even 8:45. I get that you want to go home but then don't work the night shift. It's part of the territory. Are you in the business to make money or to lose money?
I've been turned away twice so far & I've seen them turn people away while I was there. What owner backs that?
Many of us who've worked in retail or a restaurant before KNOW that it sucks when people come in later but it's part of the job.
The staff all make it VERY evident they want you out by cleaning all the tables around you, spraying cleaner, putting the chairs on all the tables but the one you're sitting at & having all their friends come in to shoot the shit.
    Super unprofessional and rude.

But other than that the food is great!

On the way to Temecula HC & I were looking for a good lunch stop on the road. Board & Brew was just that & a bit more. It's further inland than I would have liked but the drive was worth the wait after one bite of my sammie.

The place doesn't really look like much but it's part of the magic. I ended up having the Turkey BLT meal (with chips and a bevie) minus the mayo. As I was ordering the employee who took my order asked me if I wanted the "sauce" on the side or in my meal, which I thought was weird, since the description of my sammie never mentioned "sauce". Nevertheless I said on the side & waited for my sammie.

In no time flat, my sammie was ready and waiting. At first bite, I had a taste explosion in my mouth. Then I noticed all the locals were adding the sauce to their sammie. I was a bit hesitant but decided to give it the college try anyways. And hot damn there's something magical about the combination of local Ranch, Italian, sweet sour & Caesar dressing when its spread over fresh cuts of meat, its just fantastic. Even writing about it makes my mouth salivate.

If your in San Clemente or around, Board & Brew is a must stop. If not for the fantastic sammies and mouth-watering dressing then for the local beers.
