International House Of Pancakes

Having worked in the service industry for a number of years, i'm usually able to shake off a bad experience and I try to usually give the individual the benefit or sympathy. However, my experience yesterday was so terrible that I had to let other people know what to expect. It was National Pancake Day so our office decided to spend our lunch there, donate to a great cause, and munch on some pancakes. Granted, I'm sure the IHOP staff is used to some pretty crazy people and may not have a lot of patience, especially on free pancake day... but thats no excuse.

Upon walking in, we were not greeted with a smile, or even a friendly hello. The manager up front instead barked at us. After putting our name on the list for 6, he asked if we were all here. we explained yes and the last one was parking the car. Before we could even get that out, he cut us off, counted over us, and barked at us to move and get out of the way until everyone was there. After being treated like juveniles or cattle, we eventually got a table... with no menus. Isn't this the manager? I personally had to walk up to the front and grab them myself. Yes it was free pancake day, but we wanted real meals too.

Thank goodness for Maria! She was our server. Piping hot and irritated from our experience from the manager up front, Maria saved the day and gave GREAT service! She was kind, attentive, friendly, and put all of us in a much better mood... Until it was time to pay.

We were told that they couldn't split checks, which is understandable on a crazy day like pancake day, but Maria said that they are more than happy to accept multiple payments. When we were up front to pay, the same manager was there. Before we were even able to say a word he barked "No split checks". Thanks sir, but we're not splitting checks. He was so impatient and rude that one of my co-workers just put the entire bill on her card. And with that, we were paid and rushed out the door.

Great service from the server staff... HORRIBLE customer service from the management :(

Ihop is just standard, nothing great. I've been introduced to some really delicious breakfast spots so now when I'm taken here it just doesn't compare. Less expensive better quality from other places like kountry folks or silverdollar pancakes.
