The movie theater is really great. no complaints. but the bar/restaurant on the second floor is SO SLOW!!
The food is great; the wait staff is nice; Â but this is the 3rd time I've had to take my food to go to get to the movie on time.
The first time, we went to grab a bite to eat 45 minutes before the show. they asked what time our show was but nope, sandwiches came out 5 minutes before showtime. took them to go.
The second time was during horror con, we sat down 1:30 minutes before the show and ordered burgers right away. The food was so late we were 2 minutes late getting to the theater. But i chucked it up to the fact there was SO many people!
We went last night at 8:50pm (a wednesday) and our show wasn't until 9:55 pm. We ordered chicken nachos. Placed the order at 8:55. We literally didn't get our nachos until 9:43pm. Do they do this on purpose?? A nice night out was ruined by me worrying if I could cram food down and still find a seat!! Horrible. 50 minutes prep for NACHOS?!?! I'm done eating there.
It had some of the grossest food I have eaten in years. The food was so bad I literally had to stop eating after two bites even though I was starving. I would rather starve then eat that food -- yes it was that bad.
And of course its EXPENSIVE. Our bill was over a 70 dollars....but I am jumping ahead.
Service was mediocre at best. The place was dead and yet the server never seemed to check in on us. That said he did take down our orders and get us the food within a 20 minute time frame ....so fair enough.
But the food.....oh god the food....
I was with a group of three friends. Here's what we ordered:
1. two bison burgers with steak fries
2. pork chops marinated in chipotle sauce
3. cheese pizza
So let's talk about the abomination that this restaurant called food:
1. Pork chops
I call the item on my plate a "pork chop" because that's what the menu called it. However, this thing is not a pork chop as any person with taste buds would understand that term. An accurate description is "inedible plastic toy bought at Toys R US that was recalled because the toy's toxins would kill children that put the toy in their mouths." To some extent, I feel that I am being unfair--I am sure actual plastic toys taste much better then the thing that was served me. However, that's the best metaphor I could come up with to describe my experience of trying to eat this thing.
I was given a steak knife to cut the pork chop. When I Â first attempted to cut the pork chop "a.k.a plastic toy", I failed. Plastic is hard to cut...and this plastic was particularly hard. But I was persistent due to my hunger, so I started sawing and yes I mean sawing literally. The table started shaking.....and finally I got a piece off the pork plastic. Now at this point, someone may have took that as a sign that this is not something one should eat. That person would be smart. I on other other hand was made stupid with hunger so I put it in my mouth.
You know how saliva and chewing is supposed to dissolve the food so that it can be swallowed? You know how that's supposed to take a couple seconds? Yea, well a minute later, I gave up and just swallowed it hole (and yes I know I should have spit it out). Â I would describe the flavor--except there was none, which is odd when you think about it. Even plastic has flavor. Instead I had the experience of chewing on something that my taste buds could not detect. I can only guess that my taste buds turned themselves off as an evolutionary defense mechanism--I fear that if I could actually detected the flavor I would have gone mad.
So I tried another bite....yes I know that was dumb. But I held up vain hope that I just got some grizzle. And I was so very wrong. At that point I gave up trying to eat the plastic, and just glumly looked at everyone else as they ate their relatively better tasting food.
And relative is the key word. My friends felt sorry for me so they shared some of their food with me, which leads me to review their food.....
2. bison burger and steak fries
So I've had bison before and I have liked it. Bison is a sweeter, leaner meat than cow. Â It also tastes different. This "bison burger" tasted like mediocre frozen hamburger patty that you can get at walmart for $6 a pound. Either the waiter screwed up the order or this was one pathetic bison. The steak fries were cold and barely edible. They reminded me of orelda fries you can buy frozen at jewel---I wouldn't be surprised if that was in fact what they were just cooked 4 hours earlier and kept warm under a lamp.
3. Pizza
This was actually best tasting food of all the meals. That said, hoo boy the grease. I want to say it was like frozen pizza at the grocery store except that frozen pizza tastes better than this. A more apt comparison is the cafeteria pizza served in high schools -- just imagine taking multiple napkins to sop up the grease where each napkin is soaked. Yea, like that.
And for this superb meal, we paid aproximately 70 dollars. The bison burger was over 10 dollars and the pork chops were 15.
I did complain politely to the waiter. He apologized but he did not comp anything for our meal. Crappy food, mediocre service, and you pay full price. Gotcha.
If you want dinner and a movie, eat at one of the restaurants next door. I am confident that the food will be edible, an assurance I cannot make for this place.
For a restaurant at the movie theater it's A-OK. Â I don't feel that much of their food should be priced in the double digits but this is also the dining service for those choosing to sit in the "adult themed" seats which typically start in the twenty dollar range. Â Also they are trying to maintain an upscale theme here. Â So, people can and do order steaks in the movie theater, however I have never nor could I. Â
Food is pretty average but if you can get them to create your favorite cocktail or martini, those are decent for their price. Â Service is usually good depending on whether it's an opening weekend or not. Â I tend not to visit too often and that's mainly because I've had it and while the people watching can be fun, there's not much else to the food or experience.
I was there this past Friday (October 19, 2012). My friend and I informed the waiter that we were in a hurry as we were going to the theater. Â He advised us that appetizers took about 15-20 minutes.
The appetizers, nachos and pretzels, Â took almost 40 minutes. Â Totally unacceptable. We ended up taking them to go and eating them in the car on the way to the theater.
On the plus, they were good, although it would have been nice to have the sauces for the pretzels.
Had a disappointing experience here last night. Â Sat down and it took at least 10 mins to be approached by a waiter. Â Not a busy night and lots of servers available. Â When he did arrive he was fine, and asked us when our movie was - we were going to the downstairs theater. Â So, dude KNOWS that we have a specific window of time, which was ONE HOUR. Â For real, man. Â I think he altogether forgot the cake we ordered and even though we had plenty of time when we actually placed our order with him, my friend had to literally get up from her seat (none of the waitstaff we attempted to flag down would pay any attention to us) Â to get some help when we realized we were getting close to the movie time. Â At that point we needed to get it in a to-go container, which is not the way to eat warm cake with a scoop of ice cream. Â All of the waitstaff just seemed like half-wits and I recognize that's a hard job b/c I've done it. Â But it's all about service, so pay attention to your customers and stop getting distracted with god knows what. Â It's your job. Â Additionally, if I'm paying substantial money for anything at all, I expect quality. Â Learn how to make a cappuccino vs a latte vs Americano or any other espresso drink, or just DON'T serve them. Â Seriously, they just butchered that altogether. Â Just skip this place and find a place to eat in the vicinity.
Review Source:Nothing on the menu blew me away...from what i remember, just your standard sandwiches, soups, and pizza or grab a bite to eat before or after your show if you hadn't ate anything. Nothing that reeled me in that said hey, I'll make your tastebuds implode!  i got a sandwich that came with huge steak fries (I love steak fries!)  I thought I couldve gotten this for half the price at another place i know.  When we arrived, we needed time to review  and skim over the menu...this guy was literally coming back after a couple mins...i would say he came about  3 times? Sign, sign ,everywhere a sign!...hint hint ...^** look for signs/nonverbal language!...perhaps everyone stops talking and places all their menus down on the table?.... Afterwards, when we finally placed our order...we were waiting for our food which seemed like forever.  Patience is a virtue. Live and learn.
Review Source:I don't really care for this place. I had fabulous expectations when we bought the groupon and when I looked at their menu online. But when we sat down and got the menu I was immediately disappoInted. The menu was very limited, and things that we saw that looked so delicious online were no longer availible because as the waiter said "they changed the menu". We both ordered burgers because... We didn't see anything else that looked like it would be as good and they had pictures of the burgers online (which looked thick, juicy, and scrumptious ). But again disappointment set in. When the burgers arrived they looked the same even thought we ordered two totally different burgers. Mine was even supposed to come with a wheat bun but it didn't, and they were definitely not thick and juicy like the picture showed. This place really needs to update their menu do customers aren't disappointed and expecting something better than what they're really gonna get. The whole reason why we drove out here to this place was because of a combo groupon for Muvico and this restaurant. It sounded like a great deal til Muvico told us the movies we could see was limited, and til we saw the menu and the food. The movie theatre was nice with its loveseats and whatnot, but I like to movies I actually want to see. In conclusion, I probably won't return for either.
Review Source:Good eats. decent price. If you are sitting in the VIP seating, get your beers at the bogarts bar not the little popcorn area. Our server was very nice and made it enjoyable. especially when he over heard us talking about custom jello shots and politely informed us they sell jello shots there for a buck... yes please.
Review Source:Been here a few times and food is always ok, nothing exiting, last night food was ok again, but If I was you I would double check your plates, I got a used plate for my appetizers, talked to a the manager she waived the bill, but thats not the point, once you get a dirty, used plated, I can assure you, not even free dinner can make up for it.
Review Source:had a good experience here, our waitress was great, kept checking on us and was just very friendly and helpful with the menu selections. Â Get the spinach artichoke dip which our waitress said was the best app, we didn't get any burgers, but my wife and i both had the flatbread pizzas. I had the fajita one and she had the tomato basil. Â Not sure where some folks call this place "pricey" as the flatbreads were about $10, the dip was $7, pretty normal if you ask me. Â Overall the place is nice, being a restaurant inside a movie theater, I'm not expecting too much, but this place reminded me of some of those Vegas restaurants where you can watch all the guest traffic on one side, and the restaurant and booths are wrapped around. Â Not a bad place for dining in a theater, I'm not expecting some amazing restaurant experience here, so I think going in with that mentality does help too.
Review Source:When my wife and I arrived we were told no walk-ins until after 8:00 and was told we could eat at the bar. No problem. We sit at the bar and find the top was soiled with spilled drinks. Asked to get cleaned up. An employee started and then walked away. We had to finish cleaning up.
During our meal the same 6 tables remained empty in the bar area. Then I noticed that there were 12 empty tables in the restaurant area. Â There was no reason why we could not have sat at a table.
Food was ok. Nothing spectacular.
Triple, eh!
Sure, the waitress was great.
Sure, the people watching can be quite entertaining.
Sure, the vino is quite alright.
The food?!? Greasy and not the best quality. Â We had the fried calamari, which was extra greasy and chewy. Â The turkey burger was not freshly made and overly salted. Â The french fries were ok, but a bit well done. Â The salad was a salad, nothing to write home about. Â As for the prices, super expensive when compared to the culinary experience.
The theater is a great experience, but the kitchen should think of ways to revamp the menu, so the movie goers would like to enjoy there time at the theater that much longer.
Anyone seen our waiter?
Boy I really wanted to dislike this place considering the reviews I saw at a glance and the OBVIOUS smell of someone who had just finished a cigarette in the bathroom. Yes, our waiter was slow at first, but he did get better.
This was a Groupon experience- movie, 2 drinks, an appetizer and 2 main courses. We actually had a third person and we were all well fed on what was brought out. Teriyaki boneless wings (don't mix well with ranch or blue cheese) and some of the longest celery sticks I've ever seen as a side. Fish & chips and a meat lovers pizza. Both were good. The pizza was a bit greasy, but considering it had a lot of meat (oh, and no cheese) on it, what would you expect?
We had a good time. I'd go again, especially with a Groupon.
Why are there so many cops walking through here? Seriously: 3 were standing around by the restrooms and several walked through the bar.
Service is friendly (a little too friendly... As in they stop by every 5 minutes to check on you). As others have said, food is low quality and overpriced. I would liken the food to that of Applebees. Made the mistake of ordering a salad and having grilled salmon added on top. The salmon was cold inside as if they had pulled it out of the freezer and slapped it on the grill for a few minutes. Wine selection was ok but we ordered a bottle and the server didn't know to pour a little in one glass to be tasted. For the menu prices, and for being associated with the "VIP" movie theather, you'd think the service and food would be better.
I would say try to find another place in the area to eat... Skip Bogarts.
Great place to go for a dinner and a movie all in the same place. Had the fish and chips for dinner and it was very good, def need a splash of lemon (my own preference). My girlfriend had the Chicken Alfredo which she liked as well. We both had the chocolate martinis, they were $12.50 each but well worth the $$$. Â Overall a great experience. David L. was our server. He was great always had an eye on our table. Will definitely be back.
Review Source:Weird.
Movie: Got a gift of a groupon for 2 VIP movie tix and a meal with drinks. VIP movie part was odd. Had to see like 5 different people to get into the movie. Had to get movie tickets at guest services not at the regular register, pick reserved seats, get popcorn at a special counter, show tickets to 2 different check points, sit in ridiculously oversized chairs.
Restaurant: Weird. Looks like a restaurant at an all-inclusive resort, trying to be nice but feels more like a theme park. You seat yourselves even though there is no sign telling you to do so. Therefore people end up wandering around asking how to get a table. Drink menu consists of about 1,000 girly martinis.
Food: Meh. Started with calamari- very overcooked, rubber bands. Husband had a steak. Asked for it medium but it was so thin that it ended up being very well done. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich which was pretty good.
Service: Our waitress was very nice but they were so understaffed service ended up being terrible. Had to ask for water twice, drinks took about 15 min, didn't get lemons for calamari despite asking, didn't get steak knife for steak, tables sat unbussed for an hour, a phone kept ringing since no one had time to answer it. Waitress was apologetic but I'm just glad we did not pay for this experience.
$12 for a cocktail but there is certainly $12 worth of booze in each drink. The foor is pricey.
Take the nachos off the menu, they must be made by the movie theatre concession stand. Stale chips, cheese sauce, canned chili, just awful.
They redeemed themselves with the steak sliders, yummmmm.
Service is slow, like repeated empty cocktail between visits slow. Near they end they came up and asked 'what time is your show'. That should be question one here. When I said we wanted to leave, could they bring the check, it took 10-15 minutes.
So it is a 1 or 2 star place but making a $12 drink with $12 worth of booze deserves a bump. Oh, and they put us in a booth with a TV and changed it so we could watch the Blackhawks play, that is worth something.
Me and my boyfriend come here once in a while when we go to Muvico but in my opinion it's a little over priced. I would recommend it to people if they have nowhere else to go but it's only for convenience.
The staff is friendly but I wouldn't recommend coming here less than forty minutes before your show because for some reason everything takes a tad bit longer to make at this place. It doesn't bother me when I'm just lounging around but it does get annoying when we miss a movie.
I agree with most reviews as this place has pretty terrible over priced food BUT we came here last night for a beer before our movie and had a 22oz. $6 Peroni on draft!
Our server was very accommodating, I wish I knew her name!
The only thing that bothered me was overhearing some creeper 38 yr old server asking a younger server if she was going to bring back any of her college friends for him to meet...EW!!! She seemed so skeeved out..AS WAS I.
This rating is based on a single meal at Bogart's last Saturday afternoon. I was in Rosemont and decided to check out Muvico Theater. I love Showplace Icon in Chicago and rarely go to the suburbs to see a movie, but I had read about Muvico and wanted to see how it compared. Since I arrived early and was hungry, I decided to try Bogart's(which is connected to the theater) before the movie.
My expectations were pretty low after reading the Yelp reviews, so I was blown away by the Bogart Burger! I ordered it medium with extra onions and that is the way it came. It was easily the best burger I have had in years - hot and juicy and served with really tasty fries. Way better burger than any casual restaurant I've had in Chicago and at the same price. I had it with a icy cold glass of draft beer - the glass was a foot tall. Best theater meal ever.
Unlike Icon, they don't serve you at your seat, but the burger was so good it didn't matter. I ate at the bar, but there is table service or you can order the food packaged to take into the theater. If you are ticketed at one of the Premier theaters upstairs, you can also take alcohol to your seat. Â If not, only food and soft drinks downstairs.
btw - The Muvico theater itself is great. The seats are bigger than any Chicago theater I have ever seen - and I have been to at least 25 movie theaters in the area. Add in the free parking and this would easily be my go-to theater if it were closer to the city.
Booooooooo. Not at all what it should be.
Considering how awesome the Premier experience is at the Muvico, you'd hope they'd have a restaurant to match their sophistication. Wrong-o.
My Santa Fe chicken salad was decent but absolutely nothing special--I think I prefer the Corner Bakery's version, in fact. The man's flatbread pizza did NOT look appetizing. This is saying a lot, because if you call it pizza, there's a 99.9% chance I'll eat it and LIKE it. He said it was soggy and gross. Blech.
They had a decent list of signature cocktails--I ordered the Havana, with vodka, orange juice, banana and strawberry liquors. Hello, drunk! It was big and strong and WHOA , slightly overwhelming. While I appreciated the kick in the pants, I didn't appreciate the stealing of my wallet--$12.50 for a g-d cocktail! I refuse to pay that in the CITY! This is the BURBS! Get it straight! You are not the Violet Hour! Sorry for my rampage, but that was a no-no.
Our waiter didn't know what red pepper flakes were. End of story.
bogarts is a great option if you drank too much in the theater and need a little something to absorb the booze, before you drive home. their fish tacos were pretty good and plentiful and their steak sliders were pretty standard, but slightly under seasoned. there wasn't really anything notable about bogarts, aside from the obvious location. next time, we are going to walk over to morton's right across the street for dinner before driving home, as the prices are not that different.
Review Source:We wanted to treat some family members to a VIP movie experience and after our 2nd time eating here, I think I would much rather eat first at Giordanos or Harry Careys in Rosemont, which are just up River Road a ways, or at Mortons before a movie. Â For a couple drinks before a movie, the bar here seems fine. Â The food is not very special at all, and the main thing going for them is the convenience of location.
I did really love how I could get an entire Ben+Jerry's pint for the movie. Â What a splurge! Â The only thing that would make this the BEST movie experience is if we could bring our dogs to snuggle with us on the loveseats in the VIP section.
Do not waste your time and money. Â We decided to pay extra to sit in the reserved seats where you can do one of two things. You can eat at the restaurant beforehand and then see the movie. Or order your food and watch the movie while eating. We decided to watch and eat. There were no tables to put your food down. The food was expensive and not good.
BEWARE: They tell you that you get free popcorn with the reserved seating when in actuality you are charged for the "free" popcorn. They say the price included the popcorn and free valet. Parking is free anyway.
I thought we were going to get special treatment here. The restaurant part is a joke, however the theater is nice so I suggest going into just the theater part like any other theater.
If you want the "eat dinner while watching a movie" experience I recommend going to Hollywood Blvd. in Woodridge. Much better.
So, after a long day of flying into Chicago from Boston. We were really hungry. We had a 2 two hour delay from Logan. And the time change always messes me up. So, we asked the concierge at aloft as to where to eat. The first thing he said to us is do you want a steakhouse. There was a Morton's nearby. We, told him we wanted a reasonable price restaurant. So, he recommended Bogarts. Bogarts is a restaurant in a movie theater. Just like SCL at Patriot Place. However, we have them beat. SCL at Patriot Place is better. It is a cool concept but the food is not good. The free bread was good and so was the spinach artichoke dip. However, it comes with bread and not chips. It must be a Midwest thing. I asked the waiter for recommendations and his choices did not look appealing. I tried the braised beef. That was one of his choices. It tasted good but I was feeling it in a few hours. It just sat in my stomach like a brick. And it was still there int he morning. Wifey got a horrible crab cake sandwich. And my father in law got chicken and pasta. It looked liked it was made my lean cuisine. No, one liked there food. So, stay away. Come to Patriot Place if you to eat dinner at a movie theater. Can not wait till Legacy Place opens. SCL is opening there too.
Review Source:Don't waste your money on the food in this restaurant. Â Instead, treat yourself to popcorn and nachos from the concessions. Â The food was crap and the service SLOW. Â Our food came out in a timely manner, but the drink service took forever. Â Our server seemed overwhelmed by the amount of tables she had, even though it wasn't a lot. Â I also don't understand why they ask what time your show starts if that info isn't communicated with the waitstaff. Â All in all, def go to this theater-it's great, especially getting an assigned comfy seat, but don't waste your money on the restaurant!
Review Source:I'm sooooo disappointed! I gave this restaurant three different times to redeem themselves and... nothin! Each time I've gone they've messed up our orders, they take too long despite the fact that the place looks empty, and the menu is completely inaccurate. Each item lists what it comes with... so you pick & choose from there (ie, no onions, etc)... but when your food arrives there are things on there that aren't listed on the menu. Example: Bogart's Burger says it comes with "shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato and pickle chips" and you can "add cheddar and bacon". I ordered the burger with cheddar, but no pickles... what I received was the burger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mustard, mayo, bacon... but no cheese. When I told the server that I didn't like all that stuff, he looked rather perturbed and took it back. All they did was take off the bacon and slap some cheese on it. My son ordered the Cheeseburger sliders that - according to the menu - come with "lettuce, tomatoes, shaved onions, & Cheddar cheese". When he received them, they had lettuce and mayo. Unfortunely, he doesn't like mayo so they had to re-do those as well. Keep in mind that this was just the most recent trip to Bogart's. The other two times were just as unpleasant. The Muvico Theatre itself is nice. Save the money and just see the movie downstairs and get stuff from the concession. The items there are pretty good. You might have to wait a bit, but you won't get nearly as frustrated as at Bogart's.
Review Source:Went here today for an association meeting and the space was really nice. Upon entering I wondered how they would pull off such a large meeting but once I entered the back room all my questions were answered. It's a great room for a small to medium sized lunch and the old school movie posters and flat screen playing old movies (silenced) created a cool atmosphere.
the food was excellent! Chicken and pesto sandwiches with homemade potato chips and tomato basil soup...all executed very well. However beverage service was kind of odd. Part served, part help yourself so maybe a brush up on that is needed All in all a great experience and definitely a place to look at for a different meeting experience.
