This is a cool joint. The vibe (imagine hip/rustic basement) is great, the music (often live) is loud, and the drinks (from fancy cocktails to craft beer) are cold. If that's your scene, this is the place for you.

NOTE: The food is NOT great. We tried 2 different pizzas (pepperoni/jack cheese and mushroom). And the service (like the rest of Congress Hall's restaurants) is just NOT good. But if you're not hungry and you can handle going to the bar to get your own drinks, it's worth a stop.

For more information, check out my reviews of Congress Hall and one of their other restaurant, The Blue Pig.

i forgot to check in while i was here, but i'd totally go back.
my boyfriend knew about the place and told me i'd love it. it's pretty cool because you get to congress hall - huge fancy hotel. you walk in and there's a bar called the brown room that looks very fancy and pretty waspy. then you walk downstairs to see a lounge/speakeasy/club-style bar. basically, the rich oldies hang out upstairs and the hip kids downstairs. at least that seems to be what they're catering to, but i actually saw a lot of people old enough to be my parents having a great time down there.
the place was super crowded and we happened to be standing behind a couple that got up so we scored bar seats but out of sheer luck.
the bartenders were pretty busy, but still relatively attentive. i just got a simple jack and diet to drink but i bet they make some pretty cool cocktails.
there was a cover band playing on the other side of the bar. a lot of cheesy music, but they did a good job with it. i was entertained regardless, as was the full dance floor.
we didn't stay too long, as drinks were pretty pricey but we both had a great time while we were there.

This place is just straight up cool. Located in the basement of  Congress Hall, the Boiler Room has a ton of space with table seating, large chairs and a decent sized bar among the red neon glow lighting and brick walls. There is also a small stage where the trio, Bluebone, was jamming out on a Friday night.

Throw in some March Madness games playing on the numerous screens, as well as some good local beers and I wasn't moving for awhile. I'm certainly glad I showed up when I did because the entire place eventually filled up as the evening wore on.

Blues, beer and basketball! How you can argue with that?
