Bombay Bicycle Club is a pretty chill place with a bunk of junk on the walls. If you like bars that are covered in 'stuff on the walls', then Bombay might be the place for you.  I might go here for a cold one or two, but I prefer the outdoor aesthetic of more modern San Antonio bars, or the bleak comfort of a darker place.

The bar is often infiltrated by old money San Antonio heirs whose parents had to pull strings to get them into Trinity or Incarnate Word. Bombay offers them proximity to Alamo Heights to drive drunk. There are some regulars who get blackout drunk by 1 am.

The bartender is a HOT red head.

I'm so glad that I finally made it in here! I had noticed this place many times before but hadn't made it in yet. From the moment I walked into the door I knew that I liked the place. It had that neighboorhood tavern ecclectic antique clutter atmosphere. The kind of look that your TGI Crapplebees tries so hard to emulate. We were warmly greeted and told to sit anywhere we like. We took a booth and our server brought over a high chair for our boy. I asked about happy hour and she gave me the lowdown on drink and appetizer specials. Shiner Bock on tap for $2.25 was good for me. We also ordered the Scotch eggs. I haven't had them in years so I was stoked to see them on the menu. Bombay's are great! For my meal I went with their Bombay Salad, my wife had the salmon sandwich and we got an order of nachos for the boy. The grilled chicken on my salad was wonderful and the lettuce and tomato and everything was very fresh and tasty. The rest of my family was also happy with what they ate. The prices are great too and even better given that it was happy hour. Bay's (so I'm told the students from Trinity call it) has a long-standing history, in which our wonderful server enlightened us. It was the first bar to open when Bexar was no longer a dry county. And the first owner was the man who would go on to create Taco Cabana.
I really did like everything about the place, I can see Bombay Bicycle Club becoming a regular spot.
