This is one of those hole in the wall bars, that every night of the week, you see the same drunk on the bar stool. Â Did he ever leave from the time before? Â I don't frequent this bar as much anymore, but I have always had an OK time.
A few years back, I knew the bartender at Boston Garden and would ultimately be hooked up with drinks. Â The place would draw a crowd on a Friday night and there was always a friendly face who'd come through the door.
I came here with my friend a few months ago after a long absence, and the place was different. Â It was pretty much empty. Â One guy was there with his girlfriend and they were drunkenly arguing about something. Â The place smelled of cigarette smoke, stale beer and the occasional whiff of vomit. Â The drunk couple was smoking inside even though it has been against the law for years. Â That really irks me.
The bartender did buy backs which is always great.  Domestic bottles are $3.50.  They had a Guinness tap, which I tasted but  don't recommend.  The beer tasted as if it was sitting around for ever, so I wouldn't even touch a draft Coors after that.  Â
They have an area with a pool table and darts which is in a separate room behind the bar. Â Jukebox is electronic with a pretty good selection. Â
Boston Garden wouldn't be my number one bar choice on a Friday night or even a Monday night for that matter...but if I am in the mood for a long convo with the neighborhood drunk then this is the spot.
