Our possibly misguided decision to visit Boston's was made on the walk back from Veritas (which had just made last call) to our lodging across the way at the Residence Inn. At that point in the night, efficiency and accuracy are more important than much else, and though we probably weren't to the point where Gumbo's would be good, Boston's actually was. Pizza came out quick and tasted like pizza, precisely what one would expect and about as good as what we had paid for.
Review Source:I had the baby back ribs, steamed broccoli, red skinned scalloped potatoes and the Boston creme pie. Ribs so so, no body comes close to my on, the potatoes were great and the broccoli was good, but the Boston creme pie would make a buzzard puke, man that was a horrid end to an other wise good meal.
Review Source:Four stars for the best alfredo pizza in town! I am NOT a fan of tomato sauce, but most of the other pizza places in town either don't offer alfredo sauce, or don't have a very good one. Boston's alfredo-based pizzas are DELICIOUS!! For years I always did a "Create Your Own" pizza with alfredo sauce and grilled chicken, but lately I have been ordering alfredo sauce with hamburger meat and it is REALLY good. I have not eaten in the restaurant much, which a lot of people seem to be dissatisfied with, but as far as their delivery service, I have nothing bad to say. Our food always gets here while its still hot and tastes great!
Review Source:I've been to Boston's three times, each time with a medium-sized (6 or 8 person) group. Each experience has been pretty bad.
Yes, there are lots of TVs to watch a game. If you want a place with lots of TVs, and Coors-Bud-Miller Light on tap (and not much else), then you might like Boston's. If you can't tell or don't care about the difference between a mojito that's made with Sierra Mist (as it is here) as opposed to one made with proper ingredients, then you might like Boston's. If you like what is, to my taste, the greasiest pizza in Aggieland, then you might like Boston's. If you like entrees that are covered in processed cheese, then you might like Boston's.
I really don't want to go back. But you know -- sometimes you go to a place because that's where the group is going. And rather than make a fuss to the group, you think to yourself, "I'll just make a fuss on Yelp."
For the purpose of a sports bar, the place is pretty okay. There are plenty of TV's around and the sound is loud enough to hear over the rest of the restaurant. However, that is pretty much the only compliment I can give this place.
I came here with my visiting parents the weekend of a a football game. That was probably our first mistake given how big a deal the games are in this town, but the place wasn't exactly packed, there was no line at the door and we got seated immediately.
After we placed out order we waited patiently for our order, but after 30 minutes with no word from the waitress, we tracked her down and asked about the status of our food. She said she would check on it. 10 minutes later with no word back from the waitress my mother decided to ask the hostess, who seemed to be the only employee around. After a few minutes with no word back from her, our waitress finally returned to say that our order was now in the kitchen, AFTER ALMOST 45 MINUTES, our order had just been put in the kitchen. I don't blame the waitress completely, the place seemed pretty understaffed and I saw that many of the people around me had yet to receive their food. However this doesn't excuse that it took that long to just get our order into the kitchen, not to mention how long it took to get our drinks refilled.
After this, the owner came over and apologized, offering to comp our meal for our trouble. While I admit it was a professional gesture, he continually made excuses for the service by saying it was a game night even though there were empty tables and a completely nonexistent wait time. Maybe he meant to say that the kitchen and wait staff was too busy watching the game to serve their customer, because it sure felt that way.
Our food arrived promptly after, it was pretty apparent it had been rushed out of the kitchen. While I hate to admit it, the macaroni I had ordered was actually pretty good. Had the service been decent I probably would have given a high 4-star rating. But terrible service is unforgivable in a restaurant.
I may be persuaded to come back on a day without a big sporting event going on, maybe to see if they perform well enough without that excuse. But their macaroni is the only thing keeping their rating from being one-star. Only the soup-nazi has the right to have terrible service.
Don't expect anything on the specials menu being available. Â Waiters need training on how to order the correct items and know the menu. Â Food was cold and dessert was burnt, not worth swallowing. Â Oh, and don't expect prompt ketchup because they'll probably be out again and have to filler up in the back. Â Don't expect the same drink to come out twice, one sweet tea then not.
Review Source:The pizza is GREAT. However, the service was really bad. Our waiter had no clue how to handle his tables. This was the first time I sat in the actual restaurant part. I usually stick to the bar area or the outside dining area. I think the good waiters get those sections. Order the pizza and sit outside or in the bar and you will be fine!
Review Source:Stopped in for what I hoped was a reasonable take out.
Nice people and clean location, not very busy given the time of day.
They think a lot more about what is prepared and must think that high prices make the portions seem larger and taste better.
Ever notice how the really expensive food normally comes in very small portions.
My fault for not sticking  with the simple burger.
As a student at Texas A&M, I am constantly eating out and this place has a prime location with a huge pizza on the sign that is hard to pass up. This is why big chains have such a mediocre stereotype. The bar was full because the World Cup, and the hostess sat us as far away from the TV as she could have, despite knowing that is what we came to watch. We were right by the kitchen and it was SO incredibly loud. We didn't have a single waitress and our drinks were NEVER refilled. The food was decent but I would much rather go to a fast food restaurant for better service.
Review Source:I have been to this Boston's Pizza twice and have to give a honest review.
I would rather have a 5 dollar "hot and ready" from Little Caesars. They are WAY over priced, the food lacked flavor and just overall was a poor experience. Â Their "red sauce" I am pretty sure is plain tomato sauce from the can. Â Not what I expect from a place that prides itself on pizzas.
The booths in the bar areas are awkward and uncomfortable, too. As much as I love sitting at a booth, I think your back is better saved sitting in a bar chair.
The only thing that saved them, was the waiter who was very nice and prompt. Made sure I was happy and followed through immediately with what he said he would get. more water, napkins, etc.
I could think of a lot better way to spend 60 dollars.
My husband and I came here one time, maybe a year ago, and were not impressed with what we had, the service, or the prices.
However, last night I needed some food late night, and DH was out of town so I decided to give this place another shot. It was 11pm, so they sat me in the bar area and had maybe 2 servers for the whole area (which was pretty packed). I had a Dos and a satisfying Tuscan pizza for 7.29, which I think is pretty damn hard to beat!
Stopped by again last night and while the laboratory designed pizza with nothing made onsite and all shipped in frozen just to be reheated was good (see photo), they don't have any good beer anymore. Â They quit carrying Sam Adams last week? Â Â Why? Â That's all they had that was worth drinking. Â Service was sub par, food was delivered with no utensils so we had to go behind the bar and get our own (we were seated outside). Â Also had to go get someone for each and every water and beer refill. Â Â This was not worth the time nor the money.
Review Source:Drinks (alcoholic) were nasty. Â My b/f said his drink tasted like a urinal cake smells. Â However, my pizza was pretty good. Â I'm not really in to big, chain restaurants but this one was decent. Â It just felt like a huge sports bar.
Update: ate here again a few days ago, and I could swear the baked shrimp fettuccine made me ill. Â Eek. Â Stick to the pizzas!
I retreated into Boston's during a huge storm, hoping to grab a quick bite while waiting for better skies. After seating myself in the bar, I looked over the hostess-delivered menu. Ten minutes later I flagged down a waiter to ask about taking my drink order. He said he'd get someone, but it never happened. I left after almost 20 minutes without service. There appeared to be plenty of staff to handle the moderately crowded bar. If you do go to Boston's and get waited on, order one of the gourmet pizzas and run from the pasta dishes.
Review Source:I agree. Its a sports bar-pizzeria. Like Buffalo Wild Wings, minus the cute waitresses. And neither reflect their namesake.
There's no more smoking here, but I wished there was. There was a potent dusty, stale smell to their carpet that nearly turned me around at the door. I didn't see them vacuuming: I spied one of those hand roller-broom thingys, but it wasn't being used either. Even if they had just vacuumed, which would have pissed off the diners, that magnitude of odor just isn't acceptable. It reminded me of a Chinese restaurant or two I've visited over the last 5-6 months. But that place had been there for more than a decade. Boston's is what, 2 or 3 years old (?), and located in much more upscale surroundings. And with their prices, you'd think they could afford to replace it.
Digression aside, I wanted to try their fare, so I opted for take-out.
And ouch!, their prices are steep! They offer sizes of 'ind', small, medium, and large. I didn't ask about the 'ind', ostensibly individual, but the small is an 8", and the medium a 14" pie. At those prices, I didn't bother inquiring about the large. Their medium prices are at the high end of the price scale for most places 16" larges. I tried the medium 'Venetian', which was $17.49+tax.
The pizza was slightly overcooked, which made the pepperoni, and the crust around the perimeter too crispy. The crust was o.k. for being the thin & crispy type, but the edges became hard and stale before I had finished eating. The sauce was earthy and rich, and would have been good if it weren't so sweet: a sure sign of too much tomato paste in the sauce- my dad always made spaghetti sauce that way. I liked the sliced smoked ham, and there was enough cheese, but these don't save a $17.49 14" pie.
