Apparently, they've started a Ladies Night.  I haven't been yet, but I plan on going soon.  I just thought I would add that in case there are any lesbians floating around yelp!

    eh! and heck no!

About a year ago when they first opened I was all about them.. then a few things happened..

    1. Summer came.. get some freaking AC.. it's hot as HELL in there.
    2. Shady-ness - I've heard nothing but shadyness about the owner of the club.  He screwed over the gay softball league for a pretty large chunk of change.
    3. The Crowd Changed - When it first opened there was a pretty standard mix of people.. now it's turned into a bit rougher crowder..

I know that alot of people still go here for Thursday night strippers, but I'd rather support a club that supports the community.

"Now tell me do ya, a do ya have any money?
I wanna spend all your money,
At the gay bar, gay bar, gay bar." -Electric Six-

Stopped in this joint for a quick beer after an ear piercing show at the Spitfire down the block.  Now back in the day I remember this place was a restaurant of some sort with a bar in the basement.  It sounded like a good idea at the time to kill an hour drinking MGD's with 2 of my male friends and the wife.

At first glance I just saw a bunch of dudes.  Then it clicked in after like 30 seconds.  Wow, I'm in a gay bar, and I suggested going here.  I had to explain to everyone in our party that this indeed used to be a different vibe.  However after seeing the Miller Rainbow neon sign, the clicking of the name in my head "Bottoms Up", the shirtless male bartenders, the male dancer in the cage behind the bar I was pretty sure I was no longer in Oz.  But when the thong wearing shirtless twink came over practically busting out of his banana hammock thong with a tray of shots I knew I needed one ASAP.

Granted we were only in there for like 20 minutes to a half hour that was kind of enough to get the understanding that we didn't really belong.  It was blaring boom boom boom really bad techno music.  It was like I stepped into a nightmare club from 1987 when I used to sneak into the Lift underage.  There were quite a few folks dancing, and everyone seemed to be having a gay old time.

The one thing I noticed was this air of pretentiousness.  They knew we didn't belong and I don't think anyone particularly wanted us there.  I know enough of the gay culture to know this wasn't really where the hipsters of that scene would hang out. This is the kind of place which would be the last resort of finding something to do.  It's like the gay equivalent of just picking the regular corner bar because it's there.  Decor is boring white with a dance floor and what might try to be a VIP upper (and I mean like 3 feet upper) level with the comfy chairs.  It reminds me of straight owners looking to make a quick buck in the gay market because they couldn't make it as a straight bar.  It's like they took a book called "Opening a Gay Bar for Dummies".  It's cliche, it's bland, it has very little substance.

They had a decent little crowd for a weekend night when we were there but I see this more of a novelty that will be gone and forgotten.  There just really is nothing standout here, well aside for what was in that blue thong.  Dude was packing!  LOL  prices were ok, they have a minimum on cards, the usual.  Bathrooms were clean and no there wasn't any funny business going on in them.  Life isn't an episode of Queer as Folk, Whad'Ya Know?
