If your looking to line dance this is NOT the place for you. All you will get here is ghetto "boys" in skinny jeans trying to grind on you, who smell I might add. 90% of the time it's house/club music and the other 10% is country. Around 12 they have a butt shaking competition it's disgusting, and its not cute girls that get up there either (sorry boys) Save your money and go to in cahoots it's a smaller venue but the people are there to line dance and listen to country. And girls you won't find
any men here just boys in girls pants.
Huge dance floor, great tacos, and fun music! Â I had a great time here and the food and drink prices are really reasonable. Â We stayed for the band and they were great!! Â The parking lot is huge and I have never seen a bigger dance floor. Â I was there on a Thursday and it was packed with people of all ages dancing and having a great time. Â This place has a fantastic vibe!
Review Source:We really need another 'dance hall' in San Bernardino with NO line dancing.
The few minutes that we did get of hip hop and that good ol' twerkin music were decent, not even decent...the dj doesn't know how to do something basic like have a smooth transition from one song to another. The Dj needs some serious work. Â
A cup of water is $2 lmao just thought i'd throw that out there. Ohh and if any one is trying to spark a blunt or have a shot or two in the parking lot, DONT. The security guard there is a bitch and will send your ass home if he sees any of it. Apparently you can't even sit in your car and EAT in the parking lot, he'll kick you out for that too. But hey if you like line dancing, you're at the right place.
OMG what a place this is! Â Just country boys and girls getting down on the floor ... FUN FUN FUN! Â I was waiting for Borat to show up and ride the mechanical bull. Great band tonight (03/09/13), awesome DJ's, wide space, HUGE dance floor, reasonable price on drinks, good service, well organized. I had no idea a place like this existed, will be back again and again .. yeee haww!
Review Source:This is a fun place to be depending on what type of music you like, if you like all types then Wednesday is your night. If mostly country with live band then the weekend is the best. if you like karaoke then Tuesdays tonight your night. Don't just take mine or anyone else option come check it out for yourself.
Review Source:We love coming here to the BI for all our country line dancing. Â Its the best dance floor we have been on. Â
I had a problem with my card being over charged, but the management corrected the problem with no hassle. Â
I changed my rating from 3 starts to 5 because of the quick customer service. Â Thank you.
We went here to bring in the New Year (2013) and initially I was skeptical of having a good time as I am not into country music. Â But I have to say that the live band they had was pretty good about offering a whole much of different genre of music. Â The place is big with a huge dance floor. Â The drinks on the other hand were watered down and didn't really do anything so I stopped drinking instead of wasting money on a glass of cool aid. Â
We had an interesting conversation with the waitress when my friend ordered a shot of Jack Daniels. Â She explained that she had to see him take the shot and take the glass back from him. Â Apparently they can be used as weapons and have so in the past so they no longer allow the shot glasses to linger on the table- WOW!
My boyfriend and his friend got there earlier than I did and had dinner, they really liked it so I can only give you second hand information on the prime rib dinner they had, it was good as far as they were concerned.
Parking lot was well lit but the street lighting was dark and looked scary, but in all fairness there were staff personnel outside so you were not alone walking to your car. This is not in the best section of San Berdoo...
This particular night (New Years Eve) had a wide range of ages that attended so it was great seeing old and young alike dancing and having a great time.
I must say a Gothy Gurl like me in a place like this, I would have never thought. Lol... I went there with someone very special to me and i had the best time ever. I am actually going back there this weekend with some friends. The music and dancing was fun and i would definitly recomend this place to anyone else who enjoys country music and line dancing...
Review Source:May daughter, her friend & I came for New Year dinner & dance, I had read all the different reviews and was apprehensive, but I must say the bartender and the waitresses were all wonderful. The food was great and the dancing was the best!
I was told that people might get offensive if we did not know how to dance the line dances, but that was not so.
Thank you to the management and all the people who made our evening memorable.
I love this bar and have been dancing here for over 10 years on and off. Thursday is an older crowd opening at 5 pm. This is great because I can go for a couple hours after work and not be bothered with the younger people that are there for booty calls and getting drunk. Thursday has a friendly atmosphere but leave by 11pm if you don't want to deal with drunk people. Â Saturday nights 6-11 is also good. There are good deals on drinks and food. The music is good and all races go there. I saw some posts that some felt discriminated against by some backwards rednecks and I have not seen that. Â All are welcome and Sunday is family day. Very cool.
Review Source:Oh goodness. $5 cover on Saturday wasn't bad. Parking at the Napa Auto Parts store across the street seemed okay.
Line dancing, line dancing, line dancing. So as I found out, everyone on the dance floor knows what they are doing...every move to every song, no matter what it is. I was rather impressed. I've been in Texas for quite some time, and I haven't seen one large group of people that can dance to music so different compared to the song before it. If you're kinda doing your own thing while everyone else is doing a set dance, the announcement from the DJ that "only line dancers on the floor, please" was probably directed towards you.
Bar here definitely sucks. Barely any beers on tap, everything is about a $4 bottle. Supposedly they have some decent food here, but I didn't try any.
I have been going to the Brandin Iron for over 15 years. I met my husband there and have made many good friends there. Although the music tends to be very loud at times I enjoy dancing and socializing there. The staff has become part of my extended family and Bill Thomas has been very accomodating. I look forward to spending many more years hanging out there. Oh and the shredded beef tacos are the bomb!
Doreen
Use to be a great place, but over the last 2 years it's gone down hill. Supposed to be COUNTRY on the weekends yet they play "freestyles" before 9 pm now and no dress code enforcement at all anymore. Seems like most the people that go there are to eager to get drunk instead of enjoying the music and dancing. Gotta drive a little further for a good country bar now.
Review Source:So here is the good about this club.
it's very large, There's a mechanical bull, it's inexpensive, & local.
Sometimes they have performances, great place for dancing & there is a variety in the crowd, all ages from barley legal to seniors looking for an early bird dinner special.
Now, for the not so good-
Location is BAD, really ghetto area of San Berdoo. Lots of fights- this place gets lots of young testosterone filled marines ready to drink whiskey & brawl. I once saw a guy get knocked out by a bar stool, just like in the movies. Not gonna lie, it was pretty cool. But getting a little too old for that kind of stuff you know? So unless you are really young, avoid this place on college night & be prepared for a lil country rowdiness.
I had heard a lot of things about BI, so I was definitely excited to go.
Overall, the experience wasn't that bad.
I went on Wednesday (College Night), but once we were at the front of the line, they waited 10 minutes to let us in, so we ended up having to pay.
*It's supposed to be free before 11pm on Wednesdays with college/military ID, but it costs $8 after that, not too bad.
Plus they have an ATM machine ($2.50 charge for use) so if you don't have cash you can get some.
Which is convenient.
I'm under 21, so after dancing a lot and getting thirsty, I had to fork over $2 for room temperature bottled water, which wasn't too terribly priced, I just wish it were iced.
LOTS of Bros here (you know, SOCAL, SRH, Spades, etc...).
But there are a lot of cute guys here (well, if you're into white boys like me haha).
The bartenders were nice, and they have a mechanical bull you can ride ($5 for 3 turns, and the controller is chill).
Good variation of music, nice sized dance floor.
Only serious complaint, the bouncers were pretty rude and pushy.
But otherwise, nice place for college students on a budget looking for fun.
If you want a place to have a bit of fun on a Wednesday night, this is a good option. Wednesday is college night and they play hip hop music, not country, with the exception of a few thrown in there. But not enough to ruin your night if you are like me and don't like country. .had a good time. Overall, This place served its purpose on a wednesday
Review Source:Two years ago I silently held back my tears of pain while all my co-workers who were delivering the mail and packages with me turned on the radio and started listening to Country music. This year for 2011 I found myself at the Brandin' Iron dancing to some of the songs and enjoying myself to what I would have swore to myself I would never listen to two years back.
So what made the change? It is simple, the music eventually grows on you and you get to appreciate it as well as the fact you need to have great friends who can show you a fantastic time.
As my first experience there, It was not much as I expected, the employees seemed a slight bit straight forward and all businesslike but looking past all that, you see a group of people from various ages all together in one location having fun.
Being 21+ I was able to get in for free (not sure if it was a one time deal, weekly for Fridays or all the time) but at least I did not have to worry about spending cash for entering and instead could spend what I saved at the Bar (which serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks).
They do have live bands as well as a DJ playing various styles of music (primarily songs to line dance to... and some people line dance to ANY style of music). It is a nice place to hang out with your friends and buddies or even with someone you want to be with.
They provide enough dancing space for people to dance and if you are not in the mood to dance or just wish to sit back and relax seeing others dance or just chat with your friends, there are enough seats around the place that are available.
This is a place I would recommend when you either go as a group or have friends you meet up over there. While you can go by yourself it is a lot more fun as a group for an event like this.
Well to be fair I despise country but I could tolerate the 45 mintues of line-dancing and 45 minutes of out-played radio hio-hop if it werent for the awful crowd at this place. Wednesday nights are the only barely tolerable nights since its college night and they play half hip-hop and you get in free with your college I.D. The vibes were just 4 shades of wrong here, a frighteningly diverse crowd clashes like oil and water. You have ur old hillibillys that Im guessing frequent the joint mixed in with bros, bro hoes, military dudes, and every other color shape and size. Im all for diversity but unfortunately  none of these groups have much to offer in a social setting.. I saw a 70-ish year old man standing alone with a light-up necklace on, a drink in his hand and a shirt that read "sugar daddy" the laughs from which were almost worth the ten bucks. If you are under 21 and bored on a wednesday night it might be worth ur 10 bucks just to go for some mild amusement. The mechanical bull looks like it might b fun if you were drunk enough. Very easy to sneak a drink or 10 if you are under 21, i did it many times until i finally got caught and kicked out once,  i was stealing peoples unattended drinks out of boredom. this is not a place you will want to be sober at.
Review Source:So you may not know this, (unless you really know me), but I'm not much into country music. When i heard my friends were going to Brandin Iron I did not want to go. And then I went and overall I have to say it's not great, or bad.
First, be prepared to be hit on by some really douche and I mean DOUCHE bags. There's plently of guys who believe that showing their abs well get me in the sack. No. Just NO.
Second Isn't there any normal guys who can talk to me about just normal stuff like music or whatever? WHY Do i want to talk about video games, your living situtation with your ex, mom etc. (shakes her head).
Then again there are some pretty cool guys here who don't pull that, but there pretty shy.
The dance floor is huge and you can really lose yourself in there. If you don't know how to dance, don't worry, too many people anyway and no one will notice you. If you know how to dance really good, don't think about showing off. No one can notice you with all those people in there. Maybe that's why I liked the dancing, you can be dorky and still be ok :)
The staff are either rude or don't care about girls getting in (or at least this girl w/her g/fs). So girls don't expect to be let in for free (Why would you want more DOUCHE's in there though in the first place is beyond me) or be hooked up with specials etc. Just a warning. The drink prices though are not that bad though so that's good.
The crowd is mixed. Alot of different categories (I hate labels) but y'know what I mean. What I mean is early college and up, possibly even underage here and there. That's good or bad. Good that you have variety, bad that you have alot of different weirdo's out there.
The music obviously is country so.........
Anyways check it out if you have a chance. If not, don't worry about it. You probably didn't miss much either.
One word. Â Racist.
I was terribly surprised by the attitude of the management there. Â My friend and I went there last night; and got kicked out because my friend, who is a Sikh, wears a turban. Â Apparently it's against their dress code to have hats -- but forget the fact that there's a ton of guys already inside wearing cowboy or bro hats. Â
We tried to explain to them that it was a religious thing, he couldn't take it off. Â Instead of listening, they called in their manager who came across VERY ignorant. Â He said that if my friend didn't take his 'hat' off, we'd be kicked out. Â We stood our ground and explained once more it wasn't a 'hat' it was a turban. Â The manager didn't want to listen so we called him out for discriminating. Â He said he had the right to do so. Â It was his private property and he could refuse service to anyone. Â "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU CAN LEAVE", he said. Â
Well, we ended up leaving. Â I can't believe what I saw with my own eyes, but racism still exists in America. Â If you have any sort of decency in you as a human being; understand what it's like to be discriminated against; and/or wish to stop ignorance -- boycott this place. Â Â There's plenty of other hot spots in the IE including Downtown Redlands and Riverside where you can have a great time, meet hot girls/guys and get your drink on. Â You don't have to spend your dollars at a place where the management doesn't give a shit about you as a customer.
Went there May 26, 2009. Obviously this review is a year late but had to put in my two cents cause this place is majorly Lame! Myself and a group of us girls from work went there to celebrate my boss' 27th birthday. We waited about 20 minutes in line to get in and realize we were Majorly overdressed. We went there because it was local and 2 in our party were underage and it was suppose to be "hip hop night". Try listening 2 Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" And watching people square dance to it! They played sooo much out of date much it was ridiculous and the current music we couln't dance to because they took a 5 min break from the square dancing ohhh every 30-45 mins. It was soooo hot for us just sitting around and there were really childish sweaty people there. There was a group of guys who looked about 14 instead of 18+ in muscle shirts and gym shorts. So gross and never going back.
Review Source:Ok, so first off, if you want some classy snobby place like they got in LA, you will NOT fit in at BI..haha.
That being said, Wednesday nights (college nights) kick a**! They play mostly hip hop/pop type music, but they do throw in a few line dancing songs. I'm not into line dancing so I take that time to go out on the patio and chill. The BI is always crowded on Wed so get there early. By 10:30 theres a good size line so don't be surprised when u gotta wait. There is two lines 1 for 18 and up, the other for 21 and up. Once inside, its packed. They have 2 bars though which kinda helps. The dance floor is huge, and there is an area by the DJ where girls get up and dance. Most of the girls there look like they are straight out of the movie Dukes of Hazzard. lol. I'd say a majority of the guys are military. Guys from the Army and Mariane bases drive out here so if you wanna dance with a HOT military dude whos orginally from like some small town then come to the BI...Yeah the bull is fun to ride if your not shy...And this is the only place I have seen 2 guys in wheelchairs get in a fight, lol, so yeah there is fights sometimes. lol....Dont mess with the bouncers, they got cowboy hats and they don't put up with Sh*T! They are open till like 3am which is cool....Anyhow, if you want a fun crazy night out in the IE hit up the BI its a good time =)
This is one of the last bastions of country music pride in San Bernardino... and it's RIDICULOUSLY TERRIBLE. It's in a questionable part of town, surrounded by buildings that are empty at night.. Totally a dangerous location to park around late at night.
Ladies - Gross wannabe cowboys go here, or the types of guys that wear Ed Hardy shirts that are three sizes too small. If you're looking for husband material, this probably isn't the best population sampling.
Gentlemen - If you're a halfway decent human being, go here on college night.. You'll meet some cute girls who are out to have a great time dancing. Otherwise, good luck.... Women usually show up with groups of guys here (most of which can probably beat you up).
If you're into Country Line dancing and meeting cute blonds, do yourself a favor and check out the country places in Temecula or Rancho... Â Sorry Branding Iron, I'm not a fan.
I used to sometimes go dancing here with my Texan co-worker Sherry. Oh and yes it's definitely BRANDIN IRON (you can see here <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brandinironsaloon.com%2FHome.html&s=682fc20dd1f55fa00fc28f88195f190af3a3b8a93e208dbdf144f781fb66ea0e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.brandinironsa…</a>) but the food here is HUGE, tasty, and cheap!
Probably one of the few places that one can easily be crazy full for under 7 dollars. Drinks are pretty cheap too!
Okay, first off, the correct name is BRANDIN IRON, (no G). I mean this is Country, you need to talk with a twang in your voice. It was my mother's 84th birthday and she is a BIG fan of Brian Lynn Jones. My sister once dated Brian for a bit, but my mother is a big fan of his singing and she is wearing out his tapes and CD. This saloon is world-famous for the short scene in the film, BORAT. They advertise this fact on their flyers. Remember Gilley's Bar from John Travolta's film URBAN COWBOY? This place is just like that. This place is cheap, and if you aren't INTO CW music, it is still a fun night out. The "Cattleman's Kitchen" opens at 6PM on Saturdays and there are free "Line-dancing" lessons. There is a Country DJ, and at 9PM the live band comes on. The menu is "cheap" and the food is totally normal. The top sirloin is like beef jerky if you order it medium-well, the burgers and chicken strips are fine. The one-pound of fries for $3.00 is wonderful and have that buttery taste like McDonald's fries do when they are freshly fried. The real trip is to "people-watch." The waitresses are actually cocktail girls, and totally gorgeous in a country-way. Our girl had the biggest set reminescent of Dolly Parton before her reduction. The other cocktail girl was slender and shapely like the Daisy Mae cartoon character from Lil Abner. (Google them if you are too young to recall) Â The people dancing are a real cross-section of Americana. Older women who look like my elementary school librarians were line-dancing and their dance moves were totally synchronized with the bald guys with handle-bar mustaches, jeans, cowboy boots and Jack Daniel tee-shirts. Recall the character played by the late Chris Penn in Footloose? How about Forrest Gump? How about characters from the John Altman movie Nashville? Gomer and Goober Pyle along with the rest of the cast from the old Andy Griffith Show? You'll see the whole cast at this dance hall. They sure know how to have a good time! Â I even saw a Black cowboy whose dance moves were half Hee Haw and half Will Smith. Then there was this middle-aged Korean woman who had all of the line-dance moves down "pat." Only she should notify her face to smile. A lot of these people look as serious as car wreck while they are dancing, LOL. My 21 year-old daughter who is into Punk and Hip Hop thought she was in the Twilight Zone. She said she had fun though. I had a party of five, we all had burgers and steaks, and three rounds of drinks. My tab came to $53.00! Â This place is very very cheap, and to quote Borat, "itsa vary vary niceeee!"
Review Source:OMG?! really....????? these places really do exist?!?!??!!??!
a bunch of my friends got together for a night out and one of my friends suggested branding iron since he heard from work that it was a nice place to hang out...wow. Â so we are the ONLY asians there in fact the only non-white people there. Â I have no problem with not being around other asians but this was just scary. Â The line was looong so we ended up in another line for people 21 (hahahaha how young is everyone??) and got in QUICK too see a barn w. a mechanical bull...at this point I was still optimistic. Â However... It was straight up line dancing and cowboys struting their stuff. Â They even played some sort of techno/country...that's possible??? Â We felt completly outcasted and I did not want to be there. Â After an hour or so my friend got kicked out...for being too drunk. wow yeah right. Â when we went outside though a guy who works there gave us some free passes and told us about their hiphop nights. I felt bad he was really nice and apparently he realized we weren't to pleased with the night. Oh well always love new experiences!!...heh
So a black girl and an asian girl walk into a Country Line Dancing club in San Bernardino and...
No really..this isn't a joke. Â I've endured this place at least 4-5 times (luckily not anymore).
We would come here on Wednesday nights which is COLLEGE NIGHT i guess?
A friend of mine use to love country music... and I mean...she's black..(which isn't the thing that gets me) she grew up in the hood of Long Beach her whole life and loves country with a passion. Ain't that a trip? Â Anyhoo on to the review...
VENUE: this place is fairly large, about the size of a small gym. There are 3-4 pool tables and then 2 bars at the ends of the dance floor and a small stage.  There's a big outdoor patio with a bar  There's also a red neon glowing cage that girls can get drunk and dance in and a mechanical bull in the corner of the dance floor.
BOOZE: Drinks are fairly cheap $6-$8 cocktails and they'll have occasional drink specials as the DJ calls it.
CROWD: Bro hos .. bro hos..bro hos.. I've never seen so many SKIN industries shirt and girls with short denim mini skirts and those big tall platform black flip flops in my life. Â It was like the mecca of bro-hos. Â
PARKING: The parking lot is pretty small so you park across the street at the NAPA Autoparts and Miller's Outpost (I'm serious about both people). Â And when that lot is full.. u park at a dirt lot next to it which is fine for all those lifted trucks but when you got a tiny coupe ..ur car definitely pays for it.
MUSIC: Country line dancing including songs called "Redneck girl?" Â and "Watermelon crawl? " ...On college night they'll drop about 3-4 hip hop songs in between country songs and thats when all the kiddies get out and get their freak on and let me say .. get their freak on is a very literal term..damn these young ho's get hella dirty. Ew. Haha
WRAP UP: If you like country music, this place is good on Non-Wednesdays as I heard they give you lessons at around 6 on certain country dances but seriously..that drive is killer. Â I'd rather stay local and go to Incahoots on Tuesday (yes I've been there too..damn my friend!)
Best thing about this place is getting to watch all the crazy drunks try and ride the mechanical bull! Â
Yeah lots of cowboys and line dancing, and the bathrooms are old and small...unless you really love this type of music or are trying to snag yourself a cowboy, I wouldn't suggest you drive all the way out here!
time for a ho-down y'all!!
come here for country line dancin... come here to see the inland empire's FINEST cowboys around in their get-up!!! Â
that's right!! here you'll find the tightest jeans, the cowboy boots and hats, HUGE belt buckles, and you guessed it ladies... the tightest butts!! WOO HOO!!
i've always gone on wednesdays which is college night. i know there's a cover, but I've never paid to get in because i have a student ID. the line is SUPER long!! fortunately for me the 21+ line is always the shorter (still wraps around the building though)... poor kids... all they wanna do is dance!!!
it's a big place with lots of dance floor. i've seen pool tables in there as well and by golly a heck of alot of line dancing!! :)
best to come here with friends for a fun night out every once in awhile and be prepared to wait in line people!!
The Branding Iron is not my scene. Â In my book, it qualifies as a country western bar, but I.E. style (thus the bros and bro-hos). Â I remember The One time I went long, long ago. Â Scary is the word that summarizes it. Â
My sister's been here more times than I have and she lived farther away than I did. Â But then again, you have very limited options when you're under 21. Â
However if you're into mechanical bulls and line dancing, you've found your place.
Wednesday nights are college nights... which means with ID you can get in free. Â And we all know what that means... EVERYONE GOES!
My roommates love this place and after much hesitation they dragged me to this (which took 6 months to do). Â Wednesday night the music is half country half "pop" club music. Â One minute you will hear some Jay Z and the next it is line dancing... I don't get it. Â How can there be 30 different ways to line dance and everyone knows what they are?! Â Way over my head.
But a good number of people are there and all of my friends. Â Get there early, the wait is very very long especially if you are under 21. Â And when I mean early I mean 8pm because by 8:30 or later there is a high chance you cannot get in. Â
For the non Inland Empire's... be prepared to be swarmed by bro's and bro ho's who also know how to line dance. Â It can be a bit overwhelming.
In the end, not my scene. Â As much as I like hanging out with my friends, line dancing and country music is not for me. Â And outside of my friends, the crowd is more lifted trucks and beers while I am more SUV and Diet cherry coke (unless I am doing laundry then its mojitos :) )
