Dive bar with a dash of Beer-Snobbery.
I have a horrible addiction to places that have earned "Mug-Clubs", and this place is no exception. Â Always fun to try and conquer a list of 50, 60, 80, 125, +++ different beers. Â Not only is it good to try different things, it's also a bit of a beer education. Â You might even find a style of beer that you never knew existed, for example, a Kolsch, or a Black IPA, or even a Rauchbier. Â It's also fun to go back and re-try old favorites to try and figure out why in the world you might have liked that in the past.
Comfortable location with a couple of horrible outdated small TV's and a fantastic jukebox (perfect as far as I am concerned). Â KENO and a Pool table as well. Cash only, but there is an ATM of sorts in the building.
This place has the casual, low-key feel of a dive bar without actually being grungy or seedy. Â Friendly service (and other patrons), strong drinks ... it doesn't get much better.
One tip: Â Bring cash, as they don't accept credit cards (there is an ATM; if I recall correctly, it has a $1.50 fee).
Had zero expectations coming in here as it was labeled as a dive bar. I can't belive the fun that I had at the Cat. They have a mug club that is better than anything I've paid for before. You drink 50 or something different drinks over the period of 6 months and pay $10 to get your own labeled mug. Free pizza when we were there on a Friday night. Cash only, but they have their own unique ATM in the place. Diverse crowd, great beer selection on tap and even better in bottles. A bit difficult to get to on my way home, but certainly close enough to visit on a regular basis.
Review Source:One of Easthampton's two "locals" bars. Â Occasionally has bands, always throws a great theme day--I've ducked in for New Year's, where they drop a giant wire ball lit up with christmas lights off the building, which was a complete blast--servers are friendly, great place to play a game of pool or a Wii game.
It's not my go-to designated bar, but I won't complain if we end up there.
Brick building at a corner of downtown Easthampton... a spot of social commentary is habitually draped over their sign...
Inside you'll find a dark bar with a single pool table and a low stage setup in the back... tons of bar stool seating... there's even a Wii well hidden in a back corner for those who don't care for social interaction on a traditional scale or need to take a breather from getting their drink on...
Surprisingly wide draft selection, knowledgeable bartenders (you can get a shamrock in your Guinness if you ask) and good bands that wander through regularly...
Go on Wednesday - say "Hi" to Rob and the Wild Wednesday crew...
