A nice and intimate wine bar. Â My husband and I are new in town and decided to check this place out. Â What a gem in Brentwood. Becky the owner was great. Â A enjoyed a few glasses and left with 6 bottles that Becky recommended. Â Nice place to meet friends or chat with other guests.
Review Source:If you are looking nice-casual place to go and have a drink or two and catch up with friends this is a good place....EXCEPT on weekend evenings. If you are looking for a nice-casual place to go and have a drink and don't really care to talk much, then this is the place to go on the weekends!
Came here on a Friday evening with two friends...I had never been here before so I was not sure what to expect. It is nice inside but trying to hold a conversation is a bit challenging. BUT on the flipside....you can come here for a drink and not feel that you are at the "meatmarket" if you know what I mean. Good selection of wine by the glass OR bottle and several beers to choose from as well.
You just need to decide if you want to have a nice relaxing conversation or only speak in between sets. LOL!
I am so highly disappointed.  I am from Brentwood and have heard nothing but good things about the wine bar.  I  decided to meet some friends there for a glass of wine and some chat.  Things started out wonderful, the server was great.  We asked in the beginning to split the bill in two, she was fine with that.  In the end she brought the bill we gave her two credit cards and asked that she put 50% on one card and 50% on the other card.  When she was gone for a very long time we proceed to walk up to the bar to look for her.  She then says she had put the whole amount on one card and had been trying to figure out how to fix it.  At that time another woman  (a blonde) whom we had not been in contact with begins to be  rude and tells us that this is our fault as it was not busy when we arrived at the restaurant but now that they are busy they do not have time for this.  I tell her 'oh because we were here early" and 'now it's busy' it's ok?  The way this woman talked to us as customers when we are in an establishment were we are paying good money to enjoy ourselves was beyond rude. I was blown away by it quite frankly. You do not treat paying customers this way.  The waitress clearly messed up and she should have been apologetic and let us know it would take a moment but they were working on fixing it.  Basically they never fixed it one person got charged for the entire bill.  To say the least with this happening and then being talked to such as this, as a business owner myself, I would never want an employee to ever speak to any customer in this manner.  This was my first time there and this woman ruined my experience.  People make mistakes no big deal, but do not take it out on your customer.  Very very unprofessional and rude.  It is still disrupting for me to think about it today.  Instead of trying to resolve an issue they argued with the customer told the customer they are wrong and did nothing to rectify the situation at hand.
Review Source:The ambiance is very Napa, you know, exposed stonework, wine barrels, dark colors. So it feels like I'm farther out of town than I really am when I come here,
It's just small enough to feel intimate, but big enough to feel uncrowded on most nights.
The crowd is mostly couples, in 40+ range or ladies getting their wine-on. Â I have only seen female bartenders here. All of them nice....cute too.
I'm all about the live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Some stand out bands are:
"The Automatics", "The Usual Suspects", and just recently, "The Hurricanes". In case you're wondering... that last band is not a Scorpion"s tribute band. But their lead singer, Â Joan, Â will come talk to you between sets & tell you where she got her cute shirt if you ask her.
Love the wine selection.  Hannah Nicole Meritage is a local favorite of mine. They also serve a little appetizer sampler for around $7. I firmly believe wine was made to go with food so this is a big deal to me. The platter has crackers, cheese,  salami,  fresh and dried fruits, and honey glazed nuts. They all pair nicely with just about whatever red I may be drinking. I'm waiting for the chocolate sampler...that would REALLY be awesome. They also serve beer and  da, da, da, da....Angry Orchard Hard Cider on tap. My gluten allergy loves this.
There is a small back room that apparently can be rented out for special occasions. But unfortunately, if you do rent it out, people like me who are not part or your guest list will have to walk past your buffet of  tantalizing food to get to the restroom. It took all my will power to not snag one of the big ol prawns.  I didn't but, if I'd had just a bit  more wine in me, all bets would have been off.
Another great place to have a glass of wine with a friend! Â The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and happy to make recommendations based on your taste. Â The atmosphere is comfortable and fun. Â I don't get to go often enough, but I definitely love it! Â A great downtown Brentwood find!
Review Source:A lovely, local wine shop that supports good causes! Â
My honey and I attended an event here for the John Marsh House Historic Trust (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.johnmarshhouse.com%2F&s=6a3ad0677648399a1d7f955ac93c5e9f3776c06df4e9f8f5ab18b644d268b848" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.johnmarshhous…</a>).  I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the historic house, including their renovation efforts, while tasting a selection of Bloomfield wines. Â
The three Bloomfield wines we tried, being poured by the gracious Becky Bloomfield herself, were a Viognier, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet. Â All delicious -- all very drinkable.
If you are in the area and like drinking vino, I highly recommend stopping by here for some tastes.
The hubby and I enjoyed a rare date night so we ventured to downtown Brentwood to check this place out. Â Because of all the mass construction in downtown, there is no sidewalk, but lots of gravel. Â Not cool, because I was wearing heels! I'm sure once the construction is over, this place will be booming!
Anyway, we walk into the winery. I thought for sure since it was a Wednesday night that we would be the only ones in there. We weren't. It was kind of like Cheers, were everyone knows your name. As soon as we walked in, we were met with 20 pairs of eyes. Hee hee! The crowd mostly 40's/50/60 years/ These people all knew each other and so we stood out. The staring lasted about 60 seconds because I walked past everyone and right up to the bar, where we were offered a seat, at the bar. A nice lady offered to move down one.
We decided on the 09 Bloomfield Viognier, and the 09 Tamayo Pino Noir. The 08 Bloomfield Pinot Noir was my first choice, but they were sold out.
I started to cringe when my husband offered to order for us (since we were at the bar, everyone can hear you speak). Â Let this be known that my husband is a beer drinker, he will drink wine with me from time to time, but put him in a brewery and he's golden. Â He pronounced "Viognier" flawlessly. Â WHEW!!!!! Nothing like being at a wine bar and asking for the "Voyg-ner" --
Both wines were quite tasty. I especially loved the Viogner. Â The wine list offers local wines from the area, ie. Hannah Nicole, Tamayo, and Bloomfield. Draft and bottled beer is also on menu, as well as non alcoholic. I did see someone nibbling on a cheese plate, but I didn't see it on the menu. We were given a small plate of pretzels too.
I would like to come here again when they have live music, and are open a little later. Â When we were there on a Wednesday, they closed at 8. I also joined their wine club. It's free and you get a free tasting everyo quarter.
After driving around, LOST, looking for Tamayo Vineyards we gave up! And being the wino's we are, we sought out Brentwood's Gem for all things wine. Â (to be honest, its really the only place to go wine tasting besides Hannah Nicole, which we hit up early in the day and were not impressed) Â We walked in around 2:30pm, met Becky and instantly fell in love with the place. Â Becky was so informational and I just love her personality! She even got us raciest red drinkers to try her Bloomfield Viognier! Â And when I say her, it really is HER wine. Â Meet Becky Bloomfield, wine maker and business owner. Â
I have to admit, while looking up Vineyards in Brentwood, I told my drinking mate that "We are not going to a Wine Bar; I would rather go to the Vineyards themselves, its more personal that way." Â Yep, def. changed my mind after my first sip of the Bloomfield Pinot Noir at CoCo County. Â We ended up staying for their Live Music by Steve "Captain" Marvel at 7:30pm. (or on the Captain time, 7:50) Â and Yes! we parked it at CoCo from 2:30pm till 11pm! Â We did have intermission at El Fuente across the street, but came back and got right back into it, ended up drinking about a handful of btls and having a wonderful time with the staff, locals, and the Captain.
I guess we were spoiled by the amazing wines and warm service we got at Hannah Nicole just before we came here. When we walked in the first thing to hit us was the God-awful smell of a backed-up toilet. No kidding, it smelled like poo. Not the way you want to start a tasting.
The woman at the counter was courteous, though her heart didn't really seem to be in it. We were the only people in there but she spoke very little to us. We tasted four vintages and found the Bloomfield Syrah very appealing, so we bought a bottle.
Without that smell to the place I think I would have added another star to the review. But it's like they say: "You never get a second chance to make a first impression".
Not sure why this wine bar was on the tour but oh well I went along with it anyway. Â Like many wineries, wine shops, or wine bars they had a sampling of cheeses & salami. Â Hubby took part in trying a local wine from Bloomfield Vineyards, I think he said it was a Viognier and liked it a lot.
Being the non-drinker I was kind of in the "Meh" state of mind guess I was expecting more. Â Don't get me wrong I bet this is a haven for those who love to sip (or gulp) the grape stuff.
Walked out of Prevot's after a terrific dinner heard some live 70's music and stumbled upon this wine bar with hot music and dancing. My girlfriend and I stepped in and danced the night away, what a great place. The owner's are there waiting on you and it was crowded. Great music, great service, great champagne and a really good "VIBE" boy did I make some points with the girlfriend WOOHOO
Review Source:I've gone here 3 times now. 1st time was with my BF and his parents during the day, since his mom and I like wine alot. We sat down and we're greeted right away with a menu and a little spill on how they work and the wine list. The wine list they give you is all wine from Contra Costa County Wineries. Which is cool to know wines that are right in our backyards. They also have on the wall a short list of wines they spot light for the week or month that aren't from Contra Costa.
But we didn't stay and have glass. =(
But I did come back for the 2nd time for a girls night out. We had a couple of bottles to share which was awesome and we did miss the band, but still had fun. Its an older crowed 40-60 but everyone was pretty friendly, But there's always the one or two people/staff that are kinda better than you (they think) in a place.
My 3rd time was just with a girlfriend. We went to the Hannah Nicole Winery before hand and then made a stop here. We got there just as the band was setting up. I order a glass of Tamayo Chardonnay and she had a glass of Champagne. They were both very yummy. The band started and yes it was loud but they band was great. Played oldies and outta no where Justin Timberlake, Sexy Back, Which was a shock see these older men play this. But they were really good and played more 70s music. Some people got up and dance and others sang along and chatted.
They do have cover for when band are there though, which is like $5.
I think they charge it to your bill without telling you, same as their tip. So keep and eye out for that. I think that's the only bad thing I can say so far.
I do not super love this place. Â I really really wish I could super love this place. Â It would make me feel better about living out in the middle of nowhere. Â Maybe it is because I think that 95% of Contra Costa Co. (and Livermore Valley) wines taste like burning acid and I have a problem paying primo prices for glasses of that kind of wine when there are so many good wines out there. Â
During normal times, the atmosphere is friendly and casual. Â However, like most places in Brentwood, the operating hours are a joke. Â If they are open past 8, there is inevitably a cover band playing so loud that you can't carry on a conversation, nor get to know any of the people around you (which is one of the reasons that I GO to a bar--I can drink in silence at my house). Â It can also take on the ambiance of a wedding reception--drunk 50 and 60-somethings twisting and shouting along with "I Feel Good" (not that these people don't deserve like people of all ages to twist and shout--it just should be mentioned). Â During the evenings with live music, it also smells a lot like cheap beer.
All that being said, Becky Bloomfield is a star.  She knows CoCo  wine, she is enthusiastic, she is attentive, and she really believes in what she does.  She makes a point to introduce herself to everyone in the place and she goes out of her way to help people to understand the wines she serves.  She really is great.
So, if you are looking for a snooty, "upscale" wine bar experience: quiet intense talking, quiet jazz or house music, lots of wine lingo and name dropping and swirling and sniffing and a luscious list of hard to find, delectable, boutique wines--this is NOT the place. Â If you are looking for a down-home unpretentious approach to wine, with friendly staff, but a less-than-stellar selection of wines, this is a GREAT place. Â However, if you want to mingle with other wine folks or if you want to talk to your server or bask in the glow of Becky, I would come EARLY (remember, they usually close at 8) on a night without live music.
My girlfriend loves this wine bar!!! Â It's a great place to go to get a real taste of all the local wineries. Â Completely packed the night we went. Â Maybe because they had a live band???. Â I was surprised it was bit of a rough crowd the night we were there, but the owner did a real good job of trying to make us feel comfortable. Â Wasn't crazy about the flight of wines I tasted, but that's probably on me. Â Definately will go back. Â Nice change of pace in Brentwood area.
Review Source:I wanted a bottle of Viognier to go with dinner. I know Hannah Nicole makes Viognier and I know Co Co Wine sells Hannah Nicole. So, I march right up to the counter and ask if they have a bottle of Hannah Nicole Viognier.
The woman says to me, "Sure, but would you like to try MY Viognier first?"
"Uh, yeah." I sputter.
The woman was Becky Bloomfield, winemaker for Bloomfield Winery. She introduced herself and shook my hand, asking me what I do in Brentwood (it's really not important). The wine was good so I bought a pre-chilled bottle and Ms. Bloomfield even gave me a significant discount. And, it went perfectly with dinner. Mission accomplished.
I have been here twice now. Once I came with my husband on a rare date night. Â We had nice conversation with the gals behind the bar. Â Didn't necessarily care for the Tamayo Pinot Noir but I enjoyed the nice atmosphere. Â I am sure they had other wines but we only had a quick stop. Â I also came here with my sisters and mom for a rare girls day out. Â We went early on a Saturday so the back room was empty for us to sit in. Â We asked the server for a suggestion and she suggested the Bloomfield Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon. Â It was very very good. Â I plan to come back when I get an opportunity to have a babysitter!
Review Source:Local wine, local fun. Â Let's talk...
Becky Bloomfield changed my wine life forever. Â This woman knows wine. Â She's a local wine maker that calls herself a farmer. Â We met her at our last stop of EBWT2. You want to come out here to try her wines and meet her if you can. Â Lately, they've had live music on Saturday nights and the place is packed. Â Check times and plan accordingly.
Try the Bloomfield 2007 Viognier. Â Ask about the Cline ancient vine Zinfandel. Â Beyond that, they have a wide selection of locally made wines and a room for many others.
The tasting room is stylish and tasteful. Â The wines and the good times await your visit!
One of the only decent places to hang out in Brentwood. The wines from this area are hit and miss but there are enough interesting wines served here to please oenophiles.
As previous reviewers have written, the owners and staff are great. Becky Bloomfield spent a lot of time with us and we appreciated learning more about the unique attributes of the East Bay for winemaking. Her passion for what she does is infectious and it is great to meet someone who obviously has fun on the "job".
A great addition to Brentwood and I look forward to returning.
I enjoy going here during the farmer's market. Â Nothing like wine for breakfast. Â The hours can be a little hard to remember.
The clientele at night is mostly in their mid to upper 30's and up. Â Which can be interesting when you go in by yourself and you're in your mid twenties. Â
The staff are great though and very eager to give excellent service.  I always feel welcome  They play funk music which is always a plus.  Have live music every so often, although I've never been for that.
Last but not least, they have a couple of beers on tap and many excellent local wines to choose from.
We arrived and were waiting for a couple of people to join us on our tasting tour. I made my way into the back room, lined with bottles of wine and a table of fruits, cheese, nuts and crackers. The decor is what I like to describe as classy comfortable.
We were greeted by a waitress and vocalized that we were here for wine tasting. Â She handed us a menu and explained that it was $2-$3 per taste. Â If you bought the glass, the cost of the tasting was free. Â I felt my flag of irritation begin to rise. Â
I'm sorry but that doesn't make any sense to me. Â I have to pay individually for every taste of wine that I don't like? Â How does that work, you keep paying until you find one that you enjoy? Isn't the point of a tasting - to pay a reasonable fee for a selection of wines, in order to discover those that you prefer?
Then Becky Bloomfield appeared. Â She smiled, wrapped her arms around us with her magnetic personality and began to pour. Only one thing could have the power to draw me away from her wit, humor and knowledge of wine.
A pile of corks trapped under the glass of our table. Â I don't know what it is about things under glass. Â They fascinate me. Â Maybe it stems from the scene in sixteen candles when Jake Ryan pushes the clutter aside and discovers Farmer Ted stuffed into the glass coffee table? I'm not sure but it took everything I had not to stare at them, the entire time I was there.
Luckily, the wine was phenomenal. Â Becky Bloomfield knows her wine. Â I began to munch on the fruits & cheese as she described each of the varietals at length. Â I was floored by the beauty of the Viognier. Â I have lived in Brentwood for over two years and had no clue that we have ancient grape vines (100+ yrs) growing around the corner in Oakley.
We happily walked out with 4 amazing bottles of wine.
I highly recommend having a wonderful dinner at Grazie's. Then make your way across our charmingly tree lit First Street, to Co.Co. Wine Co. Â Finish off your evening with some engaging conversation and a glass of the Bloomfield Viognier or the Cline Ancient Vine Zin. Amusez-vous bien!
Two of our wineauxs left our group before we rolled into this tasting room, but the last couple friends finally managed to fight their way through traffic and brought us back up to strength. Our collective strength, however, didn't even come close to daunting Becky Bloomfield who sat and served us. (She's co-owner of the venue and the winemaker at Bloomfield Wineries.) Becky is one of those feisty, unpretentious women who should be required role-models for young girls, not to mention being the type of "cool mom" you actually want to hang out with.
She was quick, plentiful, and prolific with both the tasting pours of her family label and with her opinions and explanations of the wine. And our reactions to it. ("It smells *peppery*? ... You must have a cold.") We were having a blast just drinking and laughing and enjoying pretty much everything she presented. This is what wine tasting SHOULD be! In the end, I bought 4 bottles and got Becky's suggestion of which to offer up for Christmas dinner with my family; it wound up being an excellent pairing and I looked like a hero.
The wine shop is decorated in dark, heavy wood and feels authentically similar to the subterranean tasting rooms I've visited at French vineyards. You can purchase wine by the tasting pour, glass, bottle, or case. (Tasting fees applied towards any purchases of larger quantities.) Plentiful seating is provided, along with complimentary cheese, crackers, and fruit.
The wide selection of local-area wines for tasting and purchase, friendly staff, and welcoming atmosphere make this shop a great place to relax with friends before, after, or independent of dinner at any of the restaurants within a couple blocks. I definitely recommend that you check it out!
This was the last stop on an East Bay Wine tour.
We wanted to try Bloomfield Vineyard wines and this is their tasting room. Located in downtown Brentwood it sits among the tux and dress shops, the restaurants and flower shops. It is filled with barrels and most importantly, wine from all over Costa County.
As a tasting room, you can buy wine by the tasting (from $2 - $5) or by the glass (tasting applied to the glass). Many people inside were locals, drinking by the glass.
We met Becky Bloomfield and since we were there to try her wine, she was quick to pour us from her stock. Becky is a vivacious, funny woman who knows what she likes in wine and KNOWS her wine very, very well. We tasted the Bloomfield Pinot Grigio, Viognier, and Syrah. From Cline Cellars, the Ancient Vine Zinfendale.
The Pinot Grigio was only 2 weeks old in the bottle, light, flavorful and playful.
The Bloomfield Syrah was bold and complex. The first sip tasted different than the second or third sip. As you drink it, it becomes a different wine.
Bloomfield's Flagship wine, the Viognier was pretty. That was the smell, like delicate flowers, and the taste? Well, that was pretty too.
Finally, Becky poured us the Cline Cellars Ancient Vine Zin. First, the color was a deep burgundy, the smell could be used as a cologne. The flavor? Ummm....Could sit back, with my eyes closed, and sip all night long.
I left with a bottle each of the last three wines and the knowledge that anything that Becky Bloomfield puts her name on, I will LOVE. Â Thanks Becky for a lovely time and for sharing your knowledge of your wine.
