What's the quickest way to a girls heart? I would have to say a good ole pint and some wings!

Seriously, Bronx Ale House has really good wings. Everyone recommends the double cooked, which are fried and grilled. I had BBQ wings which were amazing!

The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a wide selection of beers and bar snacks. The place was packed on a Saturday night, which is always a sign that the place is doing something right.

If you happen to find yourself in Riverdale then I would say make your way over to Bronx Ale House.

Short and to the Point its simple if you like amazing pub style food (Specially the fries and wings...double cooked of course) you should visit.

If you enjoy craft beer and I emphasize craft. No big three domestic here. GO HERE!!

I've only been here twice but staff was super attentive both times.  Beers were good and they let you try a sample if you ask.  I enjoyed the food.  The burgers and sliders are really good.  The chicken sliders are average.  All in all, no complaints on this end.  Great selection of beers!

While I have not been back..... I was recently contacted by the owner in regards to my review. He was very professional & genuinely seemed concerned on the matter that he felt should have never have happened in the first place. The owner also promised to look over the matter and speak to his staff in regards to their cleaning/sanitizing procedures that are in place. This shows a lot from this establishment and that customer service is their priority.

I am a sucker for a good beer list and an emphasis on craft beer (plus some good pub food!).

I had heard about this place for over an year and been looking forward for a reason to  check it out!! Well the reason came when my boyfriend picked me up from a friend's house in the area.

The beer list is a rotating list and the wait staff is all knowledgeable about the beer and its characteristics. Additionally, they will let you sample the beer which saved me! I am extremely more likely to be adventurous and buy more if I can have a sip or two before hand.

I ordered a burger with pulled pork on top of the burger and it was fabulous!! I never would have thought of doing that to a burger. I am normally a very cautious eater but I could not help but try it.

Food is amazing. This bar definitely has a Manhattan bar feel. I go with my husband to watch football, baseball, and basketball games. They also have a great crowd and great service.

My favorite bar in the neighborhood. If you enjoy beer, this place is for you. They always have the best selection of craft beers. Lots of great local beers and always something tasty I haven't had before. I love IPAs and the Bronx Ale House always has many on tap. If you appreciate good beer, come here and you won't be disappointed.

I took off one star for the food. I came here for brunch twice, one time they weren't serving brunch so I got a disappointingly dry veggie burger. The people I came with had disappointing sliders (with real meat, so you can't just blame the fact that mine was a veggie burger). When I was able to have brunch, I had eggs and toast, which were fine, but my potatoes were blackened they were so overcooked. The on time I was satisfied with the food was late one night after a few drinks. I had a grilled cheese. It was fine, so thankfully they know how to cook a grilled cheese. The fries were not impressive at all and I didn't even eat them all.

So if you come here, come for the beer. Don't have high expectations of the food and you won't be disappointed. They give you salty popcorn as soon as you sit down. This place gets busy so come at an off time or be prepared to stand. Try the Bronx Brewery selections if they have them on tap, after all, you are in the Bronx!

I was truly surprised to find this place. I have walked past it a few times and finally decided to come in, and fell in love. The food is delicious, the beers are the best and the experienced staff makes things even better. Great place for brunch as well!! Ok now I am hungry!

This place is far too popular for a small joint in the Bronx. Still, had a great time with a friend on a Friday night. The place was packed by 5pm. Lots of local professionals at the bar or taking up several tables in the back, having their own little party. It was a fun vibe. My friend and I were seated within 15 minutes. We ordered the Framboise beer ($14- seems high? hum) and tried a new draft ale for $5. I enjoyed the fried pickles and the bottomless free popcorn. YUM. The barkeep was super cool and offered us small tasters of the beer before we ordered and must credit the servers for refilling our waters and sending over utensils. Definitely will be back!

    Top notch alehouse.

The service here is excellent.  The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about their menu.  Their recommendations are usually spot-on and, in any case, they allow you to taste different beers until you find what you want.  I'm over the moon when any bar serves Weihenstephan and Sixpoint, and I'm even happier when the beers are fairly priced.  Cheers!

The food's great as well.  Most of the items are typical bar fare with a gourmet twist.  Everything's executed well, especially the fried foods, which are super crispy and never greasy.  (I'm not a fan of the free popcorn-- I'm sorry to say I find it to be both bland and burnt-- but it's free, so I can't complain.)

Thumbs up for football-- err, soccer-- on one of the TVs.  The music's not bad, either, and they have a jukebox.

You're not gonna find anything better in the Bronx.  I'd even go so far as to say the place might be worth a special trip if you're in the borough.

I FINALLY got to visit the Bronx Ale House last night for a fundraising event. At first I was a little bit hesitant to head over to Riverdale on a weekday night, but this bar is worth the trip.

We had a lot of spaced saved so I can't comment too much on the atmosphere, but from what I observed, the bar is very casual, yet clean and tasteful. It's also a RIDICULOUSLY popular place. Even without the event it would have been packed, I'm sure.

Service is really friendly. I needed change to pay for the fundraiser, and the bartender happily obliged. The waitresses know their beer--I mean REALLY know their beer. One lady took a sniff of a partially empty glass and knew what beer it was without even hesitating. I was really impressed, and I don't even like beer.

I assume they catered the food as well, and with that being said, it was ON POINT. A variety of Asian, American and Middle Eastern hors d'oeurves satiated my diet-induced hunger. Flavorful and creative--- try the wings!

Brotip: The bathroom in the back behind the bar is small. It is small to the point where if you sit on the potty, your knee will activate the hand dryer. Prepare for a breeze.

One of the coolest bars. They have a solid selection and very informed staff, so if they dont have one thing you like..Im sure they have an excellent other option that fits your needs. Food is good too.

One of the best bars to visit in the bronx.

If your looking for a solid selection of beer, expecially local stuff (Bronx Pale Ale), you've arrived at the right place.

If you're looking for excellent food, you REALLY have arrived the best place.

Popcorn upon showing up is always a plus, but this place is not just bar food.

While, yes the burgers, wings (order them double cooked {they put them on the grill after saucing them}), and fried pickles are all top knotch, pay attention to the daily specials. Last time through i had braised beef tacos topped with a freshly made salsa. These things blew my mind.

NOTE: Lunch time you will find a nice quiet bar, by nightfall its crawing with Manhattan College kids, so if that turns you off, come for lunch.

The service was great, environment was also very inviting for lunch time.

We ordered burgers medium, they came back almost well done, still good but they lost their juicy-ness levels.
I have a feeling this place gets poppin' at night with some sports game on the TVs, I need to come back for that.

The cajun fries made up for the overcooked burgers. So did the onion rings. The potato chips were soggy and not the best.

You gotta love it when people are good at what they do, and the BAH is anything but blah at their craft. The establishment is all wood and good vibes. We sat at these cool stool high tables in the back. The second room seems pretty narrow when you first arrive, but we crowded nine people around pretty comfortably. The service was impeccable. Professional. Priceless. I asked for a beer, and seeing that I really had no clue as to the flavor of what was offered, the waitress brought out samples of the taste I was looking for. Whenever one of us wanted something, she was close by to hop on our request. The food was pretty good: pork sliders. [I just changed the rating from a 4 to a five.] The sliders were juicy, zestfully flavorful and fresh.

Bottom line. I remember having a great time with my colleagues. And that is what you want from a place. Not easy for many places in NY to get right. So when it happen, you've found gold.

Best to arrive early and get yourself a seat if you plan to be there for more than one pint. Once the sun goes down on Saturday night, this place explodes as if it is the only drinking establishment in town.
Excellent selection of brews from local indy to overseas. HappyHour specials go to 7pm during the week.  I found UK Old Speckled Hen here, a personal favorite, a rich strong pale ale- any place that has this on the menu deserves a return visit.

    Dear Bronx Ale House,

You clearly do not care about food anymore - why bother with it then? You were a little foodie heaven in the Bronx now you just disappoint. Your vegetarian entrees are boring. The fried goat cheese salad other then the actual fried goat cheese was tasteless. I saw dressing but could not taste it. Your sweet potato fries tonight were the actual worse ever. So thin and oily they had no taste. Even the fried pickles were not as good as usual. My husband had the lamb sandwich special he said it was good but not great. We miss the fish sandwich and the Portobello burger. We won't be eating here again.
We will be back of course for the amazing beers and friendly service.
If your food improves let us know.

    Thanks

Very good beer selection.  Nice bloody marys.  Terrible food selection.  Not one semi healthy choice.   The place has a great vibe and crowd.  It could be a true gem if they offered some salads and sandwhiches without cheese or mayo or fried.  Its a shame.  Could be so much better.

By far, hands down, the best bar in the Bronx!!!! Actually you probably won't find many other bars in the city that offers what they do.
Its affordable, which in NYC usually means dark and dingy, but the Bronx ale house is clean and comfortable.
    The food is execellent!!
They have a wide selection of beers, my husband's favoirte is The Gaffel!!
You can get mixed drinks if you're not that into beers.
They have a good crowd and friendly staff!
On the weekends it gets pretty crowded, a weeknight or lunch time are my favorite times to go there!
All this awesomness and you won't have to break the bank to have a good night out!!! Definitely a must GO!!!

Food is great, beer is great, service is friendly and generally prompt. We have gotten to know some of the staff since we live in the area and if we want a "bar" experience (as opposed to a restaurant), this is a great pick. Not many nicer bars in this area of the Bronx, so Bronx Ale House really provides for that need. Really crowded on weekends and holidays, but again, if you're looking for the bar feel, you got it!

They have a jukebox too!  And they sure do push a lot of popcorn, lol.

    Go here!

I came here with a friend about 2 months ago after hanging out with other friends in Inwood. I have never been here before and said friend told me it's really good. He's been here nearly every day since it opened.

The place is very small but it's modern and has a nice cozy feeling as you walk in. The bartender was very cool and friendly. Obviously they know each other and the drinks, etc. The other staff members were nice too and came to chit chat with us for a bit. It was nearly 4am but the place was still booming however they were about to close so they came around and let the customers know.

On the wall, there's a plague of names who's made a name for themselves for their loyalty. Really nice. There are also bills on the walls from their opening.

I really like the tool tables and stools. The bar area is very clean and tidy. They have a pretty good variety of beer on top which is pretty impressive for the Bronx.

I'd come back again but probably more than likely during the day and not at night.

Went there to watch the game on 1/20.

Drinks: Wide selection of beer some as cheap as $6.

Food: My friend ordered the nachos which were pretty good but not the best I had (Buddha Beer bar wins with the nachos).

Atmosphere: It was packed and there were a lot of men (which I didn't mind because some were cute).  There is something wrong with the bathroom lock because I walked in on someone and then someone walked in on me even though I was pretty sure I locked the door.  The part that sucks was that a guy walked in on me because he needed "to pee so bad he couldn't wait until the men's bathroom became available"...so yeah he probably saw something he shouldn't had.

Overall it was a good place and I would go back and would like to try their wings.

Tonight was my first time at Bronx Ale House and I loved it. The wait staff was amazing and definitely added to the great cozy atmosphere there. The free popcorn is tasty and the beer was great. The waitress was awesome at helping us decide. She gave us samples and helped us make drink decisions by asking us what kind of beers do we enjoy.

Food was also amazing. We had the pulled pork bombers with sweet potato fries and grilled chicken quesadillas. Hands down one of the best chicken dishes I had. Pulled pork was great and the BBQ sauce was very sweet! Glad to have found such a great place near home!!

WAIT, WHAT? HOLD THE PHONE, I haven't given a review to my favorite bar in the Bronx? OH HELLLLL NAW! That's my bad....forgive me.

Here's why they are my favorite in BX:
    - friendly staff, they're awesome
    - super clean bar unlike other joints
    - great food, please do try the mini-burgers (southwest & jerk chicken are my faves) and you can thank me later ;)
    - The beers, I really only tried like 3 of them. So far my fave is...well I don't really know the name of it, all I know is it starts with a W and it's a german beer. I can tell you though my boyfriend's favorite beer and that's "Left Hand Milk Stout" (I hope I got that right at least)
    - lastly, they're just awesome, point, blank, period.

THE END. THANK YOU. I'll be back again soon....very soon.....as in tonight soon ;)

You can't find a better bar in the Bronx. Clean, friendly staff and delicious beers and wings!

Our waitress was super sweet, immediately changed the TV for my friend's football game. Helped my indecisive self choose a beer, and gave us great recommendations on the food/giant beer selection.

All of the wings are delicious but I highly reccommend: Garlic chili, the hot wings and the sweet and spicy.

NOTE: The Bronx is my least favourite borough out of the five and unless I'm en route to other parts of the city, I try to avoid this place at all costs.

But I ended up @ the Bronx Ale House cos my birthday plans in Downtown Manhattan were killed by Superstorm Sandy...So I decided to hang out with a friend who lived nearby the pub instead.  Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

The environment- typical sports bar...Very clean.  The brew- delish and strong.  The food-  nommy. The waitresses are very friendly and overall, I had a good time.  Yeah, the Boogie Down isn't my choice of stomping grounds, but I'd come back here again.

BAH is my GO TO pub.  The Bronx was desperate for a place like this.  The brew selection is the best I've ever encountered, and varies daily (they change the keg once it kicks).  The brews are selected by an experienced management team, and offer a wide variety of choices...although they seem partial to IPA's.

I would love to give them 5 stars, but honestly the food has taken a downward spiral.  The mac and cheese has taken on different changes over time, and really should have just stayed with the All American Cheddar method.  The Brunch however is still a favorite...but if you ask for egg whites, or scrambled eggs when the menu states fried, you may get some resistance from the kitchen and the cook will refuse to make it. This happened to me on 2 separate occasions.  Really depends on the kitchen's mood.  The BBQ is supposedly good, but I've never been able to try it.  It did make their regular menu, so I guess that says something.

The free popcorn is dangerously addicting.  Yet, it seemed to have gone MIA my last few visits.  Maybe it's not offered anymore? ** UPDATE  ** Their machine is just down, and waiting on a replacement...

On a brighter note, if you want NY sports, this is the place to be.  They show all NY sports as they are being played.  They are not biased here, so regardless if it's hockey, baseball, football, basketball...you can definitely catch it here.

The staff is GREAT...they must put them through a taste testing for every keg that comes through.  Every waitress and bartender knows the stuff, and even if you don't know what you want they can help you based on what you generally like.  I've never been steered wrong.  Shout out to Dave who manages the place...he really knows how to treat his customers.  Great guy overall.  Everyone is really nice and courteous.

Clean, chilled out and cozy establishment.  Crowd is diverse, and I've never seen any problems arise. I highly recommend popping in and having a brew or two.  You will not be disappointed.

I really like this place! Just in general for the various different beers they carry, the service and the tasty food.

I went the other night to watch football and since they expanded their place a little, we were able to get a seat in the back.  Unfortunately,  the TV's were muted in the back and all you heard was the blaring of the radio speakers.  The back part is a little dingy looking, little dark and doesn't appear as welcoming as the front part of the bar.  But in a pinch, there was a seat.

There are soo many beers to choose from.  If you are looking to venture out, this is the place for you.  But if you like you're American beer like Budweiser, you're screwed.  They don't serve anything typical and if you ask for it, the waiters look at you blankly.  Key point.

That night, I tried the Blue Point Toasted Lager (5.0% alc) and it was $6.00 for a 16oz. glass.  The beers vary in prices and sizes depending on which one you select.  They usually range from $6-8 on average.

    The food....
*Mild wings- probably one of the better wings I've had, to the point if I have a          craving for wings, I will think of this place first.  Meaty, crispy. and tasty is how I can describe them.
*Cheese quesadillas- if you are a cheese fan you will enjoy these.  I think they mix up a few different cheeses in this. I definitely tasted the cheddar.  It's literally just cheese flattened out in a wrap.
*Garlic and Parmesan fries- very tasty, you taste a little bit of bitter and sweetness.  I recommend them.

The servers are very good and attentive.  Just overall young, cool people.

The only thing that discourages me to come here sometimes is how packed they can get.  And if I'm looking to eat, I'm not going to stand around with a plate of food. But since they opened the back up, maybe the congestion has loosened.

    I recommend this place.

    Let me break it down for you real simply;
Very good beer selection, if maybe just a bit short of great.  The place is a godsend for the immediate area, and the borough as a whole for that matter.  Nonetheless it is overpriced, particularly considering its location.  The decor is clean and nice but sterile and identical to  the many suburban beer bars of this type that have sprung up in recent years in LI and Westchester.  As far as the food goes the wings are very good, everything else I have tried mediocre, as is usually the rule in all of those suburban beer bars I just  mentioned.  The staff and for the most part the crowd are really cool however, so I make a stop here most any time I find myself nearby.

Beer here is amazing.  "Friend" them on facebook to find out about upcoming events.  I love this place.  Only gripe is it is too crowded, but that is the case when you're doing beer and food so damn right!  I've met the owner and he is a serious hop head.  Love it!  He knows his stuff and has the pub food on lock as well.  They need to fix the computer where you track what beers you've tried and such, I like that feature but their computer is wack, way too hard to operate when tipsy and set awkwardly high on the wall.  I'm average height for an American female (5ft5) and have a very hard time using it.

Brought my sister here and she is a SERIOUS beer snob.  To an almost absurd level, but she was impressed.  Brought my boyfriend and he was hyped they had his favorite beers from Boulder, where he had been living before he moved to NYC.  Brought my roommate and he tried his first Lambic and loved it, and went ape for the bar food.  Total win, but stalking for bar space or seats still sucks.  I wish this was on my side of the Bronx but totally worth a two-bus schlep to get to!!

Good beer in the Bronx?  No way.

Yea way!  Bronx Ale House is a legitimately good beer pub located right in Riverdale by the 1 train.  It has a nice interior that is kept a bit cleaner than a lot of hardcore beers bars, although with the prerequisite dark wood paneling.  Service is very friendly, with waitresses happy to grab you samples.  I didn't test their beer knowledge too much though as I had company.  While I wasn't completely bowled over with the finer details, this is definitely a worthwhile temple of beer.

I got the Bronx Bomber sliders and they were decent, although a bit overcooked.  Fries were freshly cut, and the rest of the menu looked decent as well--perfect stuff to pair with beer.  Overall beer selection include some legitimately good stuff on can and bottle--such as Hair of the Dog and Oskar Blues--but I found the tap selection to be a bit lacking.  It wasn't bad mind you, just nothing stood out or seemed to be thoughtfully put together.  Looking at their tap selection today, maybe I just caught it on an off day when they hadn't gotten some deliveries or something.

In any event, this is the only game in town for the Bronx.  I will be back because it is convenient for me, and especially considering that it is considerable cheaper than other beer bars like this.  It is also located a storefront or 2 down from S&S which is awesome.  Therefore, if you're a beer lover, I highly suggest getting your ass up to the Bronx, drink profusely here, and then gett yourself a good ass cheesecake to take home.  It's a bit of a trek, but you'll thank me.  And if you live nearby and haven't been (to either), shame on you.

Nothing I like more than stalking tables for a seat while standing shoulder to shoulder , a nice way to meet your neighbors and be around people in a place so rural! Lol. Seriously good selection of brews, nice to see some of California's finest but truth be told, it's hard to recommend drinking a Cali IPA out of state, it just doesn't do it justice. I have a feeling no one knows better around these parts but they probably haven't had the chance.

Nice little place, check you ID at the door. Seems like some regular regulars here, I was here on a Sat night and it was very close and friendly with the patrons. Little room to move around and the music was loud. Hey were an ale house but we have music loud enough for a dance club. No need to talk around here if you want to hook up, in fact the less you say the better I suppose if you are just looking for a hook up. Could be a cool place to chill with friends if it could figure our what genre it wants to fit into.

Service was surprisingly good for how crowded it was. I just don't think this is my place for a cup of beer. Cheers!
