I'm a huge fan of dives and authentic-feeling Irish Pubs, but there's not a ton to make this bar stand out. There's nothing bad about it, just nothing to really draw you in. The clientele were very nice; four of us strolled in on a rainy sunday afternoon and they immediately offered to shift their seats to make space for us at the bar.
The drink selection isn't too amazing. They have zero taps and don't offer any Irish beer in cans or bottles. They have a pool table, which is what initially drew us in, but it's situated in a strange place. The bar itself is fairly small and if there are people sitting at the end closest to the pool table you'll either have to ask the other patrons to move or decide on some unfortunate angles.
Again I want to emphasize that the bartender and other patrons were extremely pleasant. It's just a small, neighborhood bar that doesn't have much to recommend it as a fantastic new hangout.
Now this is a dive that completely earns the respect and glory that word conveys.
Nothing on tap, but bottles for $4, this is really more of a sipping whiskey kind of place.
Loud conversations between the owner and some of the regulars, with a friendly attitude toward the newcomers (us), without pretense.
Jeopardy on the telly, a slight musky scent from the bar, and a barman that was eager to please, without needing to try very hard.
Will definitely return. Can't think of many other places that would be better for that simple cold brew as you unwind from the stresses of the day.
