Let's get this out of the way right now.
You're not going to get a gourmet meal here. Â You're not going to find fine dining and white linen tablecloths and wonderful mixed drinks.
What you ARE going to find here is good, solid, home cooked food. Â The Broasted Chicken is simply awesome. Â Chopped steak is well above average. Â Service is tops. Â It's no wonder that locals return here again and again.
It's kind of like a Denny's, but with a nice, local touch.  If you're in the Muncie area..and are looking for Hoosier home cookin', you won't be disappointed  if you stop here!
We were at an AGS Regional Conference at Beech Grove Cemetery and afterwards went out to have a bite to eat. Â We picked Bruner"s at the suggestion of one of the local guys at the meeting.
I am going to start with an apology. I did not notice they closed at 3PM and we kept them all there late. I want to thank them for giving us excellent service and never rushing us. We were in from Chicago and did not reset our watches. So sorry, that explains why the place emptied out when we started eating, I am adding a star as you really went beyond.
That said, our waitress was very nice and funny. My friend had the BLT and clam chowder. The chowder arrived while he was away from the table and it smelled good enough to consider stealing. He said both were excellent.
Another friend and I had the broasted chicken, onion rings and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were really tasty, I got two sides and had I known how good they were I might have has mashed potatoes two times! Don't get me wrong. The onion rings were great, I just really liked the potatoes and gravy. The chicken was frah and piping hot, always a plus! Everyone has ordered chicken and gotten some made earlier in the day. It was delicious!
We always have pie after the cemetery, and I am wondering if an apple dumpling rates as pie? I hate to break tradition! It was warmed with ice cream. It was kind of wonderful.
Once again everyone was very friendly!
I know I'm in Indiana food heaven when I have to decide between ham loaf dinner, and chipped beef dinner.  You just aren't gonna find these in San Diego, folks.  I chose the ham loaf on the waitress' recommendation and she called it right--delicious!  Reminded me of my mother's Swedish meatballs using ham.  You Filipino guys who like spam would love this, only it's not as salty s Spam.  I only ate half so I would have room for a piece of sugar cream  pie--another good choice.  I asked her if it was Wick's, reputed to be the best, or homemade.  She said it was from Sysco.  Well, Sysco wins according to my taste buds.  Creamy and not too sweet, I loved it. Â
This was just a place I happened to drive by and stopped for a bite because it was 3pm and I hadn't eaten yet.  Do I have good instincts or does Indiana just have that many good places to eat?  I wasn't alone--the place seemed to have a good collection of "regulars" considering  it was between mealtimes.
