After walking around in the unusually cold May air, yesterday, it was time for dinner. Â
At about 6, we entered this store. Â Southpark Meadows also used to have this. Â Usually, there is this saying that everything goes south....but it seems like everything is Southpark Meadows (Hannah D's, other stores, and this one) have gone NORTH.
Here are the CURRENT specials:
Monday: Â Kids Eat Free
Tuesday: Â Boneless wings for $.79!!
Wednesday: Â Chicken tenders for $1.39
Of course, we got there on Thursday so there were no specials.
Mr. McGuire is the manager here. Â His staff is unreal. Â They are actually happy to be at work on a rather cold Thursday evening in May. Â
Then, we got the BEST server maybe ever.
His name is Brian. Â He was calm, went over everything quickly and accurately with the menu, and did not miss a beat on any service level. Â On a scale of one to ten with ten being the best, I give him a 100. Â I mean that. Â
When we can make the drive we will go back. Â We got hot wings, wings with garlic and parmesan, extra wet, and extra wet mild teryaki. Â They were delicious. Â So is the bacon spiraled mac n cheese and the onion rings. Â
I can never say enough good about this place!!! Â Thank you Brian. Â I felt compelled to tell his manager how awesome he was and I learned that Brian had not even been there a month yet. Â Not trying to blast your business, Brian, but my goodness, what an AMAZING employee to be so quick and ready this quickly and at this level. Â I would have never known!!!!
Please go there! Â You will enjoy it. Â I always go with boneless. Â They just seem to always turn out great! :)
Looked interesting from the highway- terrible and amateurish up close. Seated a full thirty minutes without any service before gesturing, etc gave way to a request for the manager- not very helpful and certainly no shame. Didn't bother following up, didn't get the order right, and didn't offer a discount or the meal complimentary, even though it was only $10. Never will return. The the wrap I ordered was ok, the fries were garbage. The menu is $1-2 overpriced. Kids working everywhere- even bartender looked younger than 21. Only consider if your kitchen just exploded or are somehow chained to the door and must choose between eating or starving. God help them- they need it!
Review Source:Where to begin?
We (my wife & kids) Â have ventured to this spot a few times with hopes that our next experience would be better than the last. I can now say with absolute confidence that we will be avoiding Buffalo Wings & Rings like the plague. The food is adequate, but never worth the price your paying and I'm pretty dang sure thay have zero idea of what good service means.
Our server (she never introduced herself & was not wearing a name badge) was completely disinterested in our presence. While placing our order she would look off into space and seemed agitated that we were not answering quickly enough for her liking. The food was surprisingly good, we actually enjoyed our meal, but not once in the 45 minutes we were there did we receive a refill for our drinks. It was quite frustrating.
From this point forward we will be making the extra effort to just head to Pluckers, we have yet to be disappointed in the quality of food or service there.
The wings were not bad. The burger wasnt all that good. But I must admit our waiter was very efficient. Because of us not being there before he had us try the different types of their wing sauces. They had a good variety of sauces. My 4 year old what's playing a game and lost. Our waiter gave her a stuffed animal anyways. I would probably go again. Oh there onion rings we're pretty good.
Review Source:I'm not sure about this place. I thought the food was decent, but the service was terrible. It wasn't busy AT ALL especially in our section, but the server would take 5-10 minutes to get back to us every time he left. It got really annoying, really fast. I imagine we'll give it another try, but not for a while.
Review Source:This place is okay, but its no Pluckers!!! The food is close to decent, the staff is kind-of spacey though. Its almost like no one with an IQ over 75 works there, that's kind of harsh, but I've been there enough times that I can legitimately say there is some truth in that.
I've ordered take-out and they gave us the spiciest hot wings (Atomic) when we ordered just hot wings. We of course did not realize this until we took a bite into them!!! I thought I was literally on fire.
My husband and I decided to take our children to Buffalo Wings and Rings because we found them on http://eatfreeaustin.com and saw that they had a kids-eat-free promotion on Mondays. Â It turned out to be a colossal mistake. Â It was not crowded when we arrived, but we were still seated in the very back of the restaurant near the kitchen. Â There was missing trim on the wall of our booth and crickets were hanging out on the wall staring at us. Â The carpet was atrocious, the service was horrible, there were unbussed tables near us that sat that way for the hour and a half we were there as well as trash on the floor. Â Our drinks were refilled only once. Â The restaurant filled up quickly and they seemed very busy, but it was a Cowboys game on Monday night football and you would have expected them to have staffed accordingly. Â Instead, the waitresses rushed past us and seemed to purposely ignore us, and in the end, when our food FINALLY arrived, the WINGS AND RINGS WERE STONE COLD. Â Shortly after, we asked for a manager and the gentleman that came out and identified himself as such looked like he was a member of the kitchen staff.
Review Source:* Service/ 2-Stars. They are very slow, but I have to say that the high school kid did "try" to be friendly.
* TUESDAY SPECIAL..."Ha Ha" This is the real joke!!! Starting this week the "TUESDAY SPECIAL" price on the wings has increased from $.59 to $.79. With the new price increase you would save $.50 on 10 wings and would pay $.42 MORE if you get 15 wings. If you got a larger order you would pay even more with the "special price" versus the menu price! Also when you get the "TUESDAY SPECIAL" the celery and dressing is NOT INCLUDED.
* Food/ 2-3 Stars (wings) / 1-Star for the burnt & scrawny kid's meal nuggets. ($5.29) Wendy's/ Mac-D's/ Etc.. Is a much better deal & far better quality (That says a lot)!
I used to dine here often years back when lived in the area. Since I pass here all the time when I pick up my son I thought that I go back to my old spot. Bad mistake, I will be sticking with Wings & More or BW3's!!!
This place is definitely a sports bar and not a wing place that is family friendly. Â My brother and I brought the kids here to grab some dinner after a day at the park. Â It was half full of people inside watching basketball so we decided to sit outside. Â We were promptly served and our order was taken in record time. Â The food was decent bar food and that's pretty much all there is to say about that. Â Service was a little lacking; the waitress never came out for refills. Â The one major draw back of sitting on the patio was all the patrons who were inside kept coming out to the patio to smoke which was highly annoying.
Review Source:I will never step foot in buffalo wings and rings again unless chris is working. The owners kid behind the bar is stupid, rude, and looks like he is on drugs. He messes up every order and is then rude about it. Â There is a reason that place is struggling and it the staff. Don't get me wrong, chris is the man behind that bar, but he can't work every shift. Â If the food was great I'd justify dealing with the shitty service, but it's not. Every other wing place is better.
Review Source:I've been back twice since my first review, and this place continues to impress me. Â I love the amount of sauce you receive, and our service has been very good each time.
I'm normally a fan of their boneless wings as I love their size and the fact that you can taste the chicken, so I decided to 'branch-out' Â and try the tenders.
Though very good, I personally prefer the boneless wings as it was easier to break apart pieces of meat.
I'll continue to dine here :)
Buffalo Wings & Rings is relatively close to the house, so it's convenient. That's the only "great" thing about the place.
It's a typical sports bar when you walk in, with a small 15'x50ft section off to the side with indoor seating. There is also a really neat patio outside, but sit out there at the risk of terrible service.
The service there is somewhat lacking. They tend to hire "high school age" folks who aren't necessarily interested in getting you a refill, or taking your order, so that tends to lead to a lower than average quality of service. More often than not, the server has to get the bartender to bring the drinks over because they aren't over 18. The bar being the exception to the above, the bartenders are okay.
The food is "meh". It's not great; it's not terrible. It's bar food.
They've got plenty of TVs so you can watch whatever is on, and they've got WiFi so you can connect to the internet if you need to answer emails or work for a short bit, that's nice.
The one thing that would really up this places game is they need to start serving liquor. There isn't a place in that part of Round Rock that serves liquor, so you end up having to drive down to Pluckers or a full blown restaurant where the bill is usually substantially more.
Pros:
Cheap
Close
Quick
Cons:
Service
Beer only
I will have to admit that the food here isn't outstanding. Â It is your basic wings, burgers and apps kind of place. Â
The real reason I am reviewing it is the bar, beer, patio and TV's. Â You will not find colder or cheaper beer in all of the Austin area. Â They have all of the domestic taps in a 22 oz. mugs for $3.25. Â They have many bottles of beer (including Fireman's 4) for $1.75. Â The bar has 4 HDTV's and the bartenders are friendly. Â Â
Reading the other reviews, it looks like most of them were written when this place was under previous ownership. Â I can only say from my experience that the new owner and staff seem to be much improved. Â
On a Wednesday, you can have 10 wings and a couple of big beers for around $12. Â Not bad at all.
My sister went here the other day and loved it. Â When she told me about it, I was very excited to try it. Â I guess we ordered vastly different items. Â
We ordered popcorn shrimp for an appetizer then decided on main courses. Â I love boneless wings and wasn't sure whether to get the "hot" or "medium." Â The waitress was kind enough to bring me a sample of each sauce which I really appreciated. Â The medium sauce had no heat, and the hot was tasty and had just enough heat for me. Â I love Cajun food so I order the Cajun sauce, hot. Â Hubby loves gyros and ordered their classic gyro with curly fries.
The popcorn shrimp is $8.49. Â What came out of the kitchen wasn't worth $2.49: Â overcooked, overbreaded and tasteless.
I was hoping the boneless wings would redeem the place but the sauce on the wings was nothing more than standard hot wing sauce mixed with a HUGE amount of celery seeds - yuck. Â Additionally, half of the wings were literally submerged in 3+ inches of the sauce which is about as appetizing as once-crisp french fries soaked in ketchup for 10 minutes. Â Maybe their other sauces aren't so badly seasoned... I don't know but I won't be back to find out. Â The pieces of boneless chicken themselves were nice - white meat with a thin coating of batter, generously sized and cooked decently. Â I'd also ordered bleu cheese for dipping and what came to the table was anything but bleu cheese. Â Their website claims it to be a "world-famous bleu cheese sauce." Â I don't know which world they're referring to but it's obviously not this one.
Hubby's gyro was rather small and the meat was very dried out. Â The onions on it were quite sweet. Â The "signature curly rings" were not something we'd sign up for anytime soon - mushy and unseasoned.
All in all, we spent $30 to discover we didn't like their food at all.
Decided to not deal with the crowd at Pluckers and gave Buffalo Wings & Rings a try. One place crowded and this place not crowded? Maybe it is the cursed location? No, it is the food. The wings were not bad, they were nasty! Both my wife and I had no problem when deciding if we wanted a to-go box for all of the wings left sopping in the bowls. This place can't last much longer. There are far better options close by.
Review Source:New favorite wing place! They have so many amazing appetizers! The stuffed jalapeños were SO good. The wings come in these big red bowls slathered in flavorful sauce. Our waitress was a sweetheart and even brought us out a test dessert to see if we would order it if it was on the menu! And we totally would, it was delicious. I want to try their gyros and sandwiches next. AND they have fried pickles! Their Garlic Parmesan and Original wings were the best...great flavor. Great appetizers. Great wings. Good service. GIANT flat screens. Huge covered patio. Legit wing place for sure. This was the A.W. Grimes location btw.
Review Source:We decided to give Wings and Rings a second chance after our favorite wings place (Plucker's) was packed to capacity. They reopened this place after it closed for business a few months back and I hate to say this but I have a feeling it will not be open for business any longer than the first time. We ordered the potato skins as an appetizer and they were not very good at all. The wings didn't even come close to Plucker's wings. My husband and I usually eat about 10 each but this time I could only eat a few. We usually don't have left overs but this time we had plenty and they ended up in the trash. The service wasn't the best either, the waiter was polite enough but nothing special. We will not be giving this place a third chance.
Review Source:I read a couple of the reviews while I was waiting for our order. Â I have to say, for the most part, I disagree. Â I understand some of the comments. Â This bar/restaurant does not know who they are or who is coming to eat here. Â It's a hodge podge of music and decor. Â That being said, we wanted wings. Â Buffalo wings. Â We ordered a bunch of different wings ranging from the orignal hots to garlic parmesan medium. Â All of the wings were good! Â Good, not great. Â I say not great because they are drenched and swimming in the sauce. Â This to me was unpleasing. Â But there were those in our party that enjoyed that. Â The onion rings I had high hopes for. Â They too were decent fare, but truly...Sonic has better rings, which I find funny.
The server was kind but got one of our orders wrong. Â She was nice enough however and they made up for the mistake in no time.
All in all I would give this a 4- but I can't so I'm rounding up.
I hate to be one of those who complain and bash, but I feel a duty to warn families the food is horrible. If you have been to Caribbean dive spots or islands and thought a "hamburguesa" was bad ...this place is worse!
Combine the worst soy, stadium, and school lunch burger you've had, throw it on the ground, and then put it in the frig for about 20 minutes. Viola, you have created their flagship burger!
The topping that I asked not to get on my burger was not only on it, but half frozen ice cold. I finally had the "owner's daughter" come by to replace it and specifically said DO NOT put any sauce on it~of course the new one comes back drenched in this awful mushroom sauce that's worse than the cheap .99 Salisbury steak frozen dinners I scarfed in college.
Avoid stomach pain and reminders of some of the worst cafeteria and stadium food ever. New owners doesn't mean they changed carrying the sub-par food products that put the first one out of business.
I highly recommend they get a new food carrier and compete if they plan on continuing to get $10 burger and so forth.
My dining companion and I ate there for the first and last time today. First as it was happy hour our server suggested the large beers which are three dollars and pointed to the list. I asked if that applied to all the beers and she said yes. I placed my drink order but wasn't too surprised when she came back right away to say it was only domestics that were on sale. Strike one.
We then placed our orders. She left and came back to ask if we wanted boneless wings or regular. You work in a wing restaurant. Shouldn't this be the first thing you ask if the customer didn't specify? Strike two.
Looking forward to sampling the flavors we each ordered a fifteen piece meal with five wings of three different flavors. We were told there would be a dollar fifty surcharge for doing this which we agreed to. We were surprised to find all the wings in one bowl covered in buffalo sauce with dipping sauces for the additional flavors. This led to some not so interesting combination's. Instead of getting teriyaki wings, and garlic parmesan wings, we were faced with buffalo sauce drenched wings to be dipped in those sauces. . Â Not appetizing at all.Strike three.
They are opening up a location closer to us. Next time we crave wings I know we will be driving right by it and giving it a wide berth on our way to wing stop. Its well worth the extra trip.
Today for lunch I stopped by Buffalo Wings & Rings near the Randall's Grocery store on A.W. Grimes in Round Rock. Â This location has been many restaurants and all have failed including the first time Buffalo Wings & Rings closed and then reopened.
The décor was nice and the bar area had high tables. There were enough TV's for any sports fan to watch. Since I was eating after the normal lunch hour I was the only table eating although they had a dozen or so people in the bar area drinking. I ran into a friend and he said the beer prices were great 25oz for $3. So if that is a good price go for it. I don't drink beer so I don't know. My waitress was great and the service was wonderful.
What did I order? I ordered the quarter pound burger with American cheese and fries and a soda for $7. Â I also ordered 5 Teriyaki boneless wings for 49 cents each. Both were the lunch special price. Â The burger was great and the bun was hot and toasted. As usual the fries were not for me but I think most of you would like them. Â The boneless wings were OK; I don't know why I ordered Teriyaki sauce wings when I don't care that much for Teriyaki sauce. The breast strips were a little dry. I will stick to regular wings next time. Â The have one half pound burger which you can add double meat to make it a pounder. Â I am going back to try the one half pound burger.
There is also a big selection of different sauces for the wings.
I hope this sports bar makes it.
Would I go back? Â Yes!
First of all, RR needs all the open-after-9 restaurants it can get.... Â Wife and I went in w/ tempered expectations but both actually liked the place... Â I had the "crazy" sauce - which was garlic and BBQ on the boneless wings and it was really good. Â I liked how you got a lot of sauce -Hooters often leaves the wings too dry. Â The onion rings were good too - reminded me of the ones at the "late night" cafeteria (for those of you who went to UT in past decade). Â The bartender/waiter was friendly. Â The place was pretty empty when we went and he was accomodating, changing channels for us and offering good info on the menu. Â I would rather patronize a local business like this than be dissappointed like I usually am (particularly by the service) at Pluckers.
Review Source:i ate there today for the first time and today was 49 cent wings. my wife and i had the garlic parm and lemon pepper and they were meaty and tasty and not greasy like pluckers.if your a sports fan they have the sunday nfl ticket and live music on thier patio sat night.the fries were good too and a 1/2 order was plenty, blue cheese was chunky and flaovorful.the place was i say 2/3 crowded as it was 1pm on a tues.the waitress was attentive and the order wasnt slow.nice to have a option for wings other than pluckers and the menu is much bigger.only been opened since april so give it a try.
Review Source:1-I was late to meet my friends and I had to ask 2 times for them to take my order.
2-I got salad and they didn't ask what dressing..that's ok I didn't think of it either.
3-my drink type was aked 2 times and finally I got it.
4-Food came....35 minutes later. Food was all cold according to my friends..thank goodness mine wasn't hot because it was a salad.
5-We where there for 1 1/2 hours for sandwiches and salad.
6-We asked for manager. friend talked to manager and he just made excuses and apologized. We are changing, we don't have enough staff at lunch because we have no business at lunch usually (There where at least 5 waitress and 3 tables).
Hint #1 Â You will never have lunch business if you don't get your shit together.
and I see other people are going and even reviewing and finding something to like and I just have to say . . . don't you ask yourself the all important question that dates back to the Cavemen days, "can't we be eating something better than this?" Don't prolong the agony. Let this place die a quick, less painful death.
Review Source:Slow, slow, slow! Â Waited 40 minutes for our very overcooked food to come out. Â It's such a shame because it's really cute and the location is excellent. Â I think there's a reason that there wasn't a line out the door at lunch hour (like there is at CHUEY'S!!). Â The upside is that kids eat free on Mondays so they're deep-fried (and I do mean deep-fried) chicken nuggets were on the house. Â I assume it's poor management because it looks like it has fabulous potential!
Review Source:I went here tonight for the first time with my husband for dinner since I had a wing & burger craving. I'd probably called this place a toned-down version of Pluckers with not nearly as many flat screens, but still a good number.
The food was decent, not terrible, but not anything you'd write home about. I guess their angle is that they can control the hotness of ALL of their flavor of wings, not just the regular ol' bufflo. We tried their original and crazy wings in "hot" (which we were warned it was more a medium) and they werent greasy like Pluckers wings ted to be. We ordered burgers as well and they were ok. They have quite the variety on their menu and 1/2 off happy hour appetizers like most other places.
Service was great and our waiter was very attentive. All in all, this place wasnt half bad.
