Service was good. Â They gave my wife a free ice cream cone. Â
We felt a bit cramped in there (walkway to the bathrooms, next to the ice cream maker) and didn't really feel cozy. Â The diner is very quaint. Â While I completely understand this is a local place, I didn't like the fact that I had to be served and pay a tip when the environment was on par with a fast food joint. Â
Prices are high considering the quality of the food. Â The garlic fries were good but they weren't anything beyond average. Â Same for the burger. Â Food wasn't bad, but wasn't memorable either. Â
For a seated experience and requiring a tip, this wasn't worth the bang for your buck or your tongue. Â I'll be looking elsewhere and trying out other burger places. Â Going to try Squeeze Inn next and see what all the fuss is about with their cheese skirt burgers. Â In N Out is still my default, go-to place for a good burger and good value.
Excellent food and service. Burgers were killer and so were the sweet potato fries and garlic fries. We were lucky enough to snatch up the last piece of bread pudding (apple cinnamon the day we were there) and some amazing chocolate marshmallow cheesecake. The gals working there are very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back next time we're passing through!
Review Source:Not impressed at all. Â Lived in Vacaville for 4 years now and finally tried Burger City after having having a poor experience at Pasta City (Burger City 2). Â I was not surprised. Â Very expensive, horrible burger, and horrible service. Â Atmosphere not very impressive either. Â Not really sure what the hype has been all these years, but this one is definitely off my list. Â Nations would be a better choice.....better burger and less expensive.
Review Source:I am not a burger fanatic. Â My husband, however, is and his face glows with happiness after each and every time we have eaten at Burger City. His favorites are the California avocado burger and the Crabmeat sandwich. Â I am in love with their fish and chips and the catfish. The service has always been friendly, even the few times we have walked in 15 min before closing. Â The beer battered fries are in the top 5 of our world wide fry experience!! Â Crispy but not greasy and chuck full of flavor. Â The soup and salad offerings are pretty average, but hey it's called "Burger City" not "salad central" right?
Review Source:Service: A+. Friendly people!
atmosphere: could use a good cleaning but its acceptable
Food: Mediocre at best. The bun was dry, the meat was VERY bland, and the veggie portions, weak. Â Nothing spectacular, Carl's jr would've been a lot better and cheaper. Â Their prices were high too, considering. Â Will not go back.
The chipotle burger was delicious even when I ordered with a turkey patty and no bacon, the two items that generally guarantee an awesome burger. Toasted bun on two of the three burgers we ordered meaning the kitchen may lose a bit of focus when busy. The garlic fries were insane. I would come back.
Review Source:I love Burger City. The burgers are ok but the breakfast is really good. I love the omelets. So big. The potatoes are good as well as the biscuits and gravy. For lunch the club sandwich is really good. It's stacked high and will leave you full. For dinner get the mushroom burger with cheddar cheese. Always upgrade and get the beer batter fries.
The prices can be a little high but the flavor is good and the portions are decent. The service is usually good. They pay attention to you but not over bearing and suffocating. They always keep the drinks full.
I have posted photos of our recent meal. Follow our Instagram account for more food pics. @foodfanatics_1630
I've lived in Solano County for 18 years and just now tried Burger City while visiting my sister in Vacaville. $10.00 and some change for a bacon cheeseburger & fries. Are you KIDDING me? The patty was overcooked & SMALL! First & last time I'll go. The staff seemed really nice though.
Review Source:I've always passed by this place ever since I was a kid wondering if it was any good  finally got the chance today. I read reviews thinking it wasn't worth the gamble but I have to say the chipotle burger was awesome and the mozzarella sticks were GOOD best I've has I awhile.
Great overall experience, service was good.
A good burger can come in many forms, particularly when generous amounts of smoked cheddar, crisp bacon and crunchy onions are involved (hellooo chipotle burger!). Admittedly, I usually go for burgers with a little more color...  you know, greens and things. But if you're gonna be bad, man oh man, this is the way to do it. I think this is the first time I've had a CHEESEburger where I've actually been able to really enjoy the creamy, salty goodness that cheese brings. Most of the time, it's just extra added calories from a thin slice of cheese that  inevitably gets lost somewhere between the beef and bun.
For those who rate a good burger by the amount of meat juices running down the side of your mouth/hands, Burger City falls on the very, very low end. The menu states that all burgers are cooked to med-well, though ours both came out well. While the lack of a thick, juicy beef patty is a major gripe, it's one that can be overlooked by their solid execution of food otherwise, sides included. The sweet potato fries (upgraded from regular fries for a buck) were done well -- hot and crispy, fluffy in the center (though they could do without the extra sprinkling of salt on top).
I've driven by a few times before and seen it pretty packed on the weekends so it was surprising to find the ambiance strange as soon as we walked in. Although the flat screen TV had the Giants game on, alluding to a sports bar atmosphere, it was cold, very quiet, slightly dim (a sterile OR dim, not a let-me-set-the-mood dim) and almost uninviting despite there being 3+ other families there. Granted, we did arrive an hour before close on a weekday, hopefully that had something to do with it. Attentive service.
My family and I stopped by here during a hot afternoon for a bite to eat. Due to the large number of excellent reviews we saw here, we thought it was going to be a nice meal worthy of its reputation. Unfortunately, the meal we ate did not live up to the expectations that we went in with.
I ordered the colossal double cheeseburger; it was nothing special. It was your standard two slabs of meat stacked with cheese along your usual condiments. The beef was a little dry and tasted like a regular cheeseburger. My brother ordered the special sunrise burger; expecting something special, but was sorely disappointed. The only redeeming quality was the avocado slapped on the patty.
I was also able to taste of a little bit of their famous fish and chips; it was extremely overpriced for the flavor it brought to my taste buds. I do not know where they got these chunks of fish but they were so bland I thought they just bought a pack of battered fish at a Costco and put it in an oven and put their name on it. The salad that came with the fish was a replicate of the condiments put on their burgers. Stay away from a side salad! You will be bitterly sorry you did.
Overall the meal was quite mediocre and is comparable to your local Wendy's, except instead of a dollar menu, you are left paying $10 for a standard burger. This burger joint may have been a exceptional place to grab a bite to eat in 2010, but now it seems it has lost some of its great qualities that made it an awesome place to dine.
What can I say, this is one of my favorite burger joints. Â Every sandwich/burger I have eaten there was a pleasure. Â My latest 'find' is the Chipotle Burger. Â As I stated earlier, this is a regular place for me and I had never tried this one. Â The Chipotle sauce is far and away the star of this burger, although the piled high smokey cheddar will definitely please. Â Along with their plentiful sides (Sweet Potato or Buffalo Style fries & fresh-made Potato Salad are the best), and an awesome staff, this place is still a can't miss!
Review Source:Fabulous food and great service. Â I have been going there since day one!
THE BEST BREAD PUDDING EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Compliments to the kitchen.  I appreciate them working soo hard  and putting out some great dishes.
My favorite is the double BLT with AVOCADO!
Pork fat rules!!!! And OMG OMG, THE BISCUITS AND GRAVY is very flavorful!
Ah ya, baby! YUM O~
We need GUYS BIG BITE to visit Vacvaille!
Stopped in again after a year or so from my last visit... I like to stay current on resturants in vacaville so i re visit places that i havent been to inwhile...... Â
I must say that Burger City is falling behind big time..... I mean 5 to 10 years ago when we didnt have alot of options for burgers this place might have seemed like your best option but now that vacaville has expanded and theres so many good places to get a burger this place is really falling to the bottom of my list...
When your competing with places like 5guys, Squeeze in, Monsoon burgers or even a resturant burger , you really need to step up your game on burgers becasue the burgers they serve at Burger city just dont compare really in taste , portion of food ,not to mention they COST MORE then any of the places i mentioned above.... Â
So I probaby wont be back for atleast another year....I hope they change there recipe or buy there patties from a different place cause the food tasted EXACTLY the same as it did 5 years ago and 5 years ago i wasnt impressed and now that theres even more new burger places to choose from im even  less impressed then i was before........
Nom nom! Great food. Laid back staff.
Sometimes my check comes to me a little slower than I'd like, but it's a great place for delicious burgers, sandwiches and breakfast. I also really like their pastrami sandwich.
My favorite burger? Hard to decide but my tall cohort and I almost always go for their chipotle burger ... bacon, spice, cheese and everything nice!
Best burgers in Vacaville?
Actually, I wouldn't know. I had breakfast here with a friend.
Best breakfast in Vacaville?
Now, that's something I do believe. Not that Vacaville has an overabundance of really great breakfast options & not that I eat breakfast all that often in Vacaville, but I've had breakfast here before & recalled it as being quite good.
Over the years, I actually have eaten breakfast at a number of other places in town & none of those other breakfasts were as good as breakfast at Burger City. My benchmark breakfast, as well as 1 of my favorites, is Chicken Fried (or Country Fried) Steak & Eggs.
Most other places that serve this dish will give you some kind of ground mystery meat underneath the fried exterior. The Chicken Fried Steak at Burger City has an actual cut of beef in there. No, it's not top grade Fillet Mignon. But it's real steak, not ground up who-knows-what.
Burger City has unremarkable diner decor, but service was friendly. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs which came with a big pile of Country Potatoes + a  Coffee. Food was up in not too long & all of it was very good. Just as I remembered, the Chicken Fried Steak was delicious. The gravy slathered on top of it was a nice surprise & was delicious too.
Portions are big. I stuffed myself sufficiently & boxed the remains. The check came & brought another pleasant surprise. Prices out here are lower than most places close to the Bay.
After a hearty, tasty breakfast & catching up some with a friend, I was off to the rest of my day. I don't end up in Vacaville for breakfast that much, but whenever I do I'll be at Burger City.
I LOVE this place! Their different kinds of french fries is a nice change. So TRY the buffalo fries with blue cheese..MMMMMM.... anita's potato salad is better than mine, and that's HARD to do. :) Stay after in the bar attached for a football game and some good company by the friendly bartenders.
Review Source:Come here usually on the weekends for jam practice. Never been disappointed with their burgers, usually get the Swiss mushroom burger with fries. They also serve breakfast only on weekends. Full bar next door, kinda connected with the place by another door just inside..
Defiantly a good burger joint imo.
Their burgers are a bit pricey, but better than Five Guys imho, and their fries are good too. Â I usually just get a plain ol' variety...but they've got plenty to choose from, including veggie burgers, plus a slew of specialty fries. Â Kiddo likes their big thick oreo shake. Â Grandpa likes that he can get a beer with his burger. Â Servers are always very friendly and good on the drink refills.
They have salads, fish n chips and other things if someone in your party isn't in the mood for burgers.
Updated to say: We finally made it over here last weekend to try the breakfast! Â
We tried the Godzilla omelet (sans the pepper jack) and pancakes topped with strawberries.
The Omelet was huge!!!! Â And not really your typical omelet. Â Instead, it was a mountain of sauteed peppers, onions, and mushrooms mixed with sausage, crispy (yes! Â still deliciously crispy!) bacon, ham, and cheddar covered with a giant egg "pancake", sprinkled with cheese. Â I ate about three bites and felt stuffed! Â Definitely a good entree to share...
The Pancakes were enormous, thick and fluffy (and, unlike the other two places locally that we've had pancakes at, cooked all the way through!). Â We were a little disappointed that the "seasonal fruit" was of the "available-in-any-season-probably-from-a-can" variety, but it was still good, and came with whipped cream of course!
Don't waste time with the biscuits. Â Take it from a Southerner, this ain't the real deal!
Also, a bummer that the country potatoes are just diced, fried potatoes. Â No onions or other veggies to perk them up. Â Thank you God for ketchup!
Overall, the breakfast was just "okay". Â Not work making a trip for when I can do better at home. That said, it has still been the best breakfast we've had around, with great prices! Â If you don't like to cook, I'd say give it a try!
So I have always been a big fan of Burger City and its not changing. Last night something happened at BC that I have never experienced. Never, until last night have my fries upstaged the burger! I ordered a western bbq burger. Awesome! lots of bacon, large onion rings, and lots of bbq sauce.
BUT THEN I TRIED MY FRIES!!! WOW!!! (not for the faint of heart, or those on a diet) BEER BATTERED BUFFALO FRIES!!!! AMAZING!
What a disappointment! Â I was really excited to try out Burger City, since it's locally owned and run and near my apartment. I wish I had better things to say about it.
The atmosphere was intimate and homey (it is a small place), and the servers were all very friendly. The restaurant looked like it had seen better days, though. The carpet looked like it was out of a school hallway or a run-down apartment, and our table didn't look like it was wiped down very well. Our food came out quickly but wasn't very good. My dining companion's grilled chicken sandwich with teriyaki sauce was especially bad. It was a tiny chicken breast so smothered in strong sauce you couldn't even start to taste the chicken. My California burger with avocado was ok but nothing to write home about. Both of them came with orders of fries that were pretty small.
I also thought Burger City was a tad overpriced. For a burger that's just a step above fast food, $9 seems awfully high. Sadly, I don't have a strong desire to come back soon.
You know those times where something tastes so good that you feel that you need to eat every last bite even though you're already so full? Well, that was me last night. It's 9:44AM and I'm still full!!
So my boyfriend and I have been eyeing Burger City for awhile now since it is right across the street from my bf's apartment complex. Last night we finally gave in and placed an order for pick up.
I ordered the Swiss Mushroom burger + added grilled onions and a side of garlic fries. I finished everything -- from the burger, to the fries, and even the pickles! Wow, what a fat ass I was last night. Everyone was right, these garlic fries were potent but delicious nonetheless. I'd even put them near the top of my list for best garlic fries. My breath smelled like slow death for the rest of the night. The burger was huge and filled with generous amounts of cheese, mushrooms, and grilled onions. The only downside was that it was a little on the greasy side.
My boyfriend ordered the Super Godzilla Burger (can you handle it? -- it really says that on the menu) and the name says it all. This burger is a beast!! This thing is filled with Over 1/2 lb. of beef piled high with sauteed mushrooms, bell peppers, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo, then topped with three pieces of cheese all on a steak roll. Holy crap right? My bf only could handle about half of this sucker. (A picture will be posted soon).
Want to know the best part? They pack little cups of ranch dressing in your to-go bag without you even asking! This was a nice treat that I discovered once we were already back at the apartment. I love dipping my fries into a nice tub of ranch. *yum!
Burger City just scored 2 new fans! Yay!
Based on the ratings, Burger City was a disappointment. Â I will say the staff were friendly and attentive. Â They do offer sweet potato fries, and the garlic fries are killer. Â But the food and setting makes it just a notch up from a fast food joint, with higher prices that aren't justified. Â
Despite its name, other food choices besides burgers are available, mainly of the greasy, hangover variety--shrimp/fish and chips, steak, a number of meat filled sandwiches, along with a small breakfast menu on the weekend. Â Veggie choices are few and far between. Â I was expecting a house made veggie burger, as another reviewer had alluded to, but it's just the usual gardenburger. Â The place isn't huge, but there's also a bar area with TVs, likely tuned into the latest sports game. Â
The fries are where it's at. Â Otherwise, you're better off getting your burger at In-N-Out.
This was the first restaurant recommended to me when I moved to Vacaville. It's located right next to a cemetery, which kind of freaked me out. You can see the graves out the window as you're eating your burger! But  the food is good.
The burgers here are pretty big and tasty. They have several different options. My favorite was the Western style with BBQ sauce. You can get your fries seasoned with Cajun seasoning for a little bit extra. Their onion rings are also good, but on the greasy side.
The service was never exceptionally friendly or fast, but the food made up for it.
