Great atmosphere, with silly and interesting things all over the walls. I don't drink beer, but have been told there's a fantastic selection. The cocktails are unusual, interesting, and damn tasty (as well as strong!). Obviously you should go here.

I want to put a sleeping bag under the shuffleboard table and never ever leave this place! I'm actually contemplating moving to Milwaukee just so I can be a regular here.

We were headed to Milwaukee for a weekend of metal and love. They go together, trust me. Anyways...
We were looking for places to go and I texted the infamous Candice G. for suggestions and this is how we found the love of my life. I mean my favorite new bar.

We looked it up online and were slowly falling for this place because of their cocktails and beer list, but then.. there it was... S H U F F L E B O A R D! YESSS! After a quick trip downtown for breakfast and some moonshine (yes those also go together) we headed to Burnhearts. Thanks to iPhone Maps, we took one hell of a ride to get there too. We walked in and already loved it. I had one hell of a time trying to figure out what I wanted to drink but Mick, was patient and helpful with his suggestions. We grabbed our drinks and headed back to the shuffleboard table where I kicked my boyfriends ass! It was a glorious day indeed.
Back to the bar so I could grab a drink to celebrate and he could grab a drink to drown his tears in. New drinks up, AND some pickle back shots. Mick said he had just had it with tequila instead of whiskey so we were down to try it. Delicious!

Mick asked our names and when he served our drinks, made sure to use them. Now THATS friendly service! When we were about to head out, he had asked my boyfriend a yes/no question to which my boyfriend, Nick, responded..."DOES our names rhyme?!" Maybe we were a liiiiiittle hammed... But in good fun Mick replied... "I don't know... DOES they?" Yep, cut off. No not really, but we cut ourselves off.

All we've talked about is how we want to go back to Milwaukee. And now that they have sweet snap back hats, that's our excuse (not like we need another one) to go back soon!

I like this bar enough. Situated in an easy to find location, plenty of tap options and friendly/efficient bartenders. I make a point to head to most of their block parties. I wish they'd put more effort into the food options, but Classic Slice is awesome in my book. The music is insanely loud, felt bad for my poor dogs sensitive ears, but I suppose that's to be expected. Strange collection of people, all pretty friendly.

Burnhearts is in my top three Milwaukee bars. It seems like people are either really dedicated Burnhearts regulars or they've never heard of it.

My favorite thing about Burnhearts is that it has a lot of character - certainly reflective of the neighborhood it is situated in. It is a corner bar in every sense. It is dimly lit, a little grimy, a little seductive. The beer selection is stellar and the music is usually rad too. My advice is to go on Saturday nights (around 10 or so) because they tuck a DJ in the corner to spin some records. Love.

They also have cool parties/events throughout the year. I've been to some of the block parties and even the sloppy joe nights. Find a reason to check it out. The folks that hang out here tend to be really chilled out and so are the bartenders. If you have tattoos and/or a beard, you'll blend right in. If you're wearing khakis and want a martini, go to Milwaukee Street.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place....Well here it is.

I really like this amazing Bay View bar. Walking in to the dimly lit bar with the neon hearts flashing sets the tone for the night. I admit - I am a beer lover. This place is as close to beer heaven as it gets.

They have a ton of beers on tap ranging from regular tap, served on nitro (smoother/creamer feel to it), or in a cask/Firkin. I love the fact that they have board games to play while enjoying a nice beer.

Walk into the back you will be greeted with a pool table and smaller tables to play more board games at. This is a great place to take someone and just enjoy beer and conversation. No TVs or distractions just a great place making people interact the old fashion way.

This is a must stop if you are in the area.

Whether you're looking for a rare beer, a great cocktail or a funky, indy atmosphere - Burnheart's has you covered.

Not only does Burnheart's have a great craft beer selection, including a rotating firkin, they also have a reserve list of rare or especially delicious large format bottles to share with a group or open for a special occasion, including a rare bottle of Cantillion Rosé de Gambrinus from Belgium I had the opportunity to share. Don't worry - they also have the neighborhood favorites such as PBR and Schlitz to boot.

The lighting is dim, but I do enjoy looking at all of the stickers plastered behind the bar. The vintage signage and trays on the ceiling are also great, but the best would be the retro animated bartender on the top shelf above the cash register. I wonder if it is the same one I saw this past December at Antiques on Second...

The place starts to fill up around 9PM, even on weeknights. Obviously, the volume amps up a bit and the clients are a bit more lubricated as well. If you are looking for a more laid-back or quiet scene - you may wish to seek higher ground at this time. Also, there is a lot of cigarette smoke stored up in these old walls. It lingers, along with the sharp aroma of blue urinal cake. It goes with the territory, however I can only tolerate so long before I start to get a headache.

I love how they keep their tap list and cellar list up-to-date on http://beermenus.com. This is extremely helpful if you have a taste for something or looking for something a little different. They also have some talented and friendly bartenders that do their best to make things better in light of incidents with a bad cork and mix some innovative cocktails using house-made infusions.

Other items of note: Be courtious of the neighbors and keep your voices down like good boys and girls when walking to and from said watering hole.

This place is great! I came here for a happy hour not knowing what to expect and was floored by the awesome beer selection and atmosphere. A truly great place to lounge.

Why is this bar so good? I'm not exactly sure, but it is. I visited during a recent trip to Wisconsin. It's kind of a divey little hut, with colorful Christmas lights and nooks and crannies, plus classic 60's furniture and a shuffleboard table. Cool enough, right? Except that the beer selection is what puts it off the charts. They have rotating taps of carefully selected beers. Last time I was there they had New Glarus Enigma on tap! Whoa! Overall, this place rocks. I'll definitely be back.

Rarely am I this shrewd and shallow about my reasons for low scores. But the music level and general douchiness of the clientele has rocketed this bar into the stratosphere of unpleasant places to go on a weekend. You may think you're a beer bar, but you're still serving miles and miles of 'bombs' for the "hipsters" who patronize this place. You still insist on having that 'Dj' that plays 'music' that no one wants to hear. You still run out of real beer on tap while having plenty of Schlitz tall boys to hand out to the bearded imps that cycle into your bar on a nightly basis. You're a double-identity having bar that would be better off being transplanted to Water street with all the other bars. Having dark red lighting and a heart-shaped electric light from Spencer's does not make you any more interesting or unique. You're a wolf in sheep's clothing and if pandering to this type of crowd while pretending not to works for you, then by all means continue to do so if it helps your bottom line. But for the love of all things good please stop pretending you're something different. Because you're not.

This place has multiple things going for it....It's in Bay View, it's on a corner in the middle of a neighborhood, amazing craft beer list. These are all things that are important to me in a local watering hole. I don't get here nearly enough, but it never disappoints and always makes for an awesome last Sunday night hurrah before Monday. This is one of those Milwaukee bars you must get to, don't over look it.

When you put love and attention to details in a place for family, friends, and music loving beer drinkers, you're gonna win. Burnies wins, it always seems to win.

Always a fun time. Live DJs and the staff is always nice. Pool table & shuffleboard are always fun. Plus, they have board games if u really wanna nerd out. Great beer selection with LOTS of new beers on tap every time I go. Lots of seasonal brews too.

Proof that you don't have to be some sort of Belgian-chain attempt or overpriced beer hall to offer some ass kicking selections and a vibe that says stay and drink rather than stay and buy our t-shirts.

The music is random and not off of the radio. The beers are both common and esoteric and points in between. The bar staff knows what they're doing, knows what you need, and probably doesn't care a bit about what anyone says on Yelp.

Hipster spot. Dive bar. Whatever. Make it a destination.

Great local place that I was taken to during my last visit to MKE.

Love the diverse beer selection and the fact that even late on a Friday night when the place was hopping - the bartender let me taste a sample before purchasing it.

The bar has a cool neighborhood hipster vibe without being pretenscious and I loved the fact that the patrons were my age (mid 30s). Everyone there was having a great time and I liked the fact that there were no televisions so people could actually talk.

Past the bar is another room that has some cool board games that some of the patrons were enjoying.

I agree with the other reviewer that said the bar area was a little dark (lit with red lights) and after imbibing for a couple of hours prior to our stop at Burnhearts - it made finding the bathroom a bit difficult.

All in all a solid neighborhood bar that I would love to try on my next trip back to give it another try.

I want to live here.

Can I live here?

Please? I'm begging.

If I owned a bar of my own, I'm sure it would look exactly like this. Almost Ranch style house turned tavern. Game area with pool and shuffleboard and a row of movie theater style seats. Chill area with couch and tables and board games. Walls are filled with cool stuff to look at. I could have hung out here all day.

They have an impressive beer selection and also serve mixed drinks and wine. The bartender was a friendly man with a fantastic beard. Seems as if they have live music too, as a show was written in chalk on the street. Awesome.

My love for Burnhearts in Haiku

Burnhearts on my mind

I'll have another

I really like burnhearts. Good music, people and atmosphere. I always find myself looking at the texture of the hair of the girl in the art piece on the back wall. And they have shuffleboard!! With a chalkboard to make up funny team names and keep track of how many times you crush your opponents. I love the patio in the summer too. Good for bayview people watching and bumping into friends.

I adore this bar! As a Bayview resident, it's easy to call this place my favorite. It's small and cozy, tucked into a pretty much residential area of the neighborhood.
The one bar in the front room is full of memorabilia and sweet little nicknacks that add a vintage and local feel to the place. The back room features a PHENOMENAL wall mural by a local artist, lots of couches and chairs, a pool and shuffleboard table, AND lots of awesome games like Apples to Apples, Operation, Yahtzee and Jenga. I especially recommend Jenga for first timers, it's a hidden gem.
All of this mixed with great music and a hip young clientele make it a local hot spot on the weekends. They have a really decent beer and liquor list as well, nightly specials, and a DJ on the weekends. Great spot to people watch or bring a group for a drunken game night!

Best life coaches in MKE! They do what they do and do it well... bartenders are all fun and knowledgeable about the liquids they slang... The cocktail menu is always on point... and, i think i'm going to go get a beer after writing this review...

The atmosphere at Burnhearts is fantastic. I wish I lived across the street from this place because it's an awesome spot to hang out. The front bar area is definitely dimly lit (except for the red lights, random chandeliers, and pulsating hearts on the bar). Many old vintage-y beer/neighborhood signs adorn the bar and walls. My favorite says," I like this place so much I could s***".

Beer selection is phenomenal. Great place to try something new as the bartender seemed to really know his stuff. The few people seated at the bar around us all seemed to be doing shots (with pickle chasers). No food here, just typical bar chips, jerky, etc. Good music too. I want to make this my new staple!

Here is where I turn into a blubbering fool. I absolutely love this place. I am as beer nerdy as beer nerds come, and they always have something on tap that makes me a bit giddy. It was a lovely afternoon and after a hike, a friend and I decided it was beer thirty. As is the norm with Burnie's, one of their taps made me give myself a high five. Three Floyds Zombie Dust. This stuff is beyond good. The bartender (I believe his name was Christian?) was an affable fellow and knew his stuff. I'm a little nervous that I'll be moving within walking distance, because this is the kind of place I could find myself way too often. Great beer, great tunes and their prices are incredibly reasonable. As much as I love Palm Tavern, this is the best bar in Bay View.

One Hoppy Chick (aka Brenda Ammon) visited Burnhearts on her quest for great craft beer served in awesome settings and she found it! Burnhearts Bar has the hometown feel, great service with a smile and love the decor! I will be back for more research (for beer that is)!

Normally, I do not go into Burnhearts just to have a drink but when I am with friends and we head over there, a few things come to mind:

- dark and chill bar area
- free shuffleboard
- a tasty beer selection

Sold. Not sure why I do not go there more often.

Burnhearts will always have a special place in my own heart. This is a style of bar that exemplifies Milwaukee: a lower converted to a bar that is dimly lit with christmas lights and funky bar decor including red glowing anatomical hearts. This place has its own funky character, with wonderful wall art and a boob-tastic collection of classic pin-ups near the bathrooms. Aside from the general atmosphere I love the expansive collection of regional microbrews, both bottles and taps, and great music selection, mostly contemporary indie rock. They occasionally have CD release parties (Animal Collective is the one I attended) here hosted by the Wisconsin specific indie-blog Muzzle of Bees and they often have a guy DJing in the corner. Lastly, it's my favorite shuffle-puck spot in the city. Definitely my favorite bar here!

Burnhearts never fails to reinforce why it's my favorite bar in the city. It combines a FANTASTIC beer selection, some of the friendliest bartenders in Milwaukee, quirky and colorful regulars and a great spirit selection at stellar prices. Did I mention shuffleboard, jenga and soul music? With a constantly rotating selection of local and intriguing tap beers and an atmosphere that never quits, Burnhearts is easily one of the bar gems of the city

I love this bar.

They have great beers on tap and one dollar off all taps on Tuesdays. The bartenders are happy to pour samples of their excellent selection, so you probably find a new beer you'll like.

It is pretty dark in the front at night, but not terribly so. The DJ basically just sits at the end of the bar too, which adds to how intimate this place feels. The back room has pool, shuffleboard, and games and it is slightly better lit.

Me and a friend were able to quietly play a game of scrabble here even though the music was fairly loud in the next room. I think a lot of people would be happy to go to Burnhearts.

I'm originally from the farm country surrounding the city but I took a job in the Bay View neighborhood which is how I found out about Burnhearts. A few coworkers and I stopped by for a pint during Milwaukee Beer Week and I immediately fell in love.

The clientele is usually younger but those are generally the people that love unique microbrews and imports. It has a relaxed atmosphere and a pool table, shuffle puck game, and darts. There is plenty of room to hang out at the bar or at the tables scattered throughout.

Burnhearts has the best rotating beer list in the city. I am a homebrewer and a beer fanatic. Only a tiny selection of bars in the city have a comparable beer selection but they sometimes lack a knowledgeable staff or fun atmosphere. They've got more than beer here too in case your friends or significant other isn't a fan (although they might be after sampling some of what Burnhearts has on tap).

I think this place has potential, but the mix of jocko-Northern WI, USA guys (who dominated the games out back and nearly hit a girl with a mis-shot pool ball) and small town hipsters on the make can be a bit annoying in this tiny little bar. What rocked about the place was the DJ in corner and the super hot and friendly bartenders. The girls working the bar here were patient, helpful, and funny in this WAY TOO DARK bar. Clientele was younger and more immature than say Blackbird or the Palm, but the games in the back made it worth the visit. This is Milwaukee not Wicker Park, Silver Lake, or Williamsburg, so be your own version of cool, and don't be afraid to talk to strangers even if you came from Athens, WI (population 1095). You are in Milwaukee, so make it your way like Laverne and Shirley kids!

Worth checking out. Real possibilities here! I'd like to come back sometime between 5-9 to see what it is like when it is a more mellow crowd.

I think as far as atmosphere goes, this might be my favorite Milwaukee bar. This just feels like a great place to hang out...aside from those nights when it's packed and the DJ's music is blaring and you can't hear yourself ordering a drink.

The beer list is impressive, and they have some great taps (including Great Lakes' Edmund Fitzgerald!), but the tiny scrawled chalkboard beer menu behind the bar can be tiresome to decipher sometimes. Thankfully, the bartenders here are VERY knowledgeable about their selection, and they are more than happy to suggest things for you.

As for mixed drinks...well, I haven't been that impressed. I'm not sure what it is.

The rest of the bar is like your parents rec room from the 1970s and it is amazing! Tons of board games, a pool table, and shuffle board to challenge any drunk ego.

Hey, you like boobies? They have like, a vintage boobie picture wall by the bathroom. If you're into that. No weiner wall, though. EQUALITY NOW!

6 words: Great beers and a shuffleboard table. Awesome.
I always feel welcome here. The music is always eclectic, the staff always friendly--it's like being in a much cooler version of your living room. And check out their drink specials--very nice.

Burnhearts is a nice addition to the burgeoning hipster area, Bay View. Dark, loungey vibe, with a DJ pumping out music in the front bar; satisfying any 20-something that's Bored With the U.S.A.

There's a great beer list, board games like Operation, pool, free sawdust shuffle board, and lots of different seating areas.

Not a bad place off the beaten path, but just didn't seem as friendly as say, Blackbird. More people here on the weekend seemed to be trying to make the scene, rather than just there to have a good time. Not a bad place, but not my first or second choice in Bay View.

Burnhearts is great. The atmosphere is dark, the music is awesome, and the people are friendly.

They have a great beer selection and the bartender was very knowledgeable about what he was serving. Pretty impressive. When it comes to mixed drinks, however, they fall short. Real short.

I will definitely be back for a night of delicious beer drinking!

This place has it all: lengthy rotating beer list, beer flights (so you can sample taps from said lengthy rotating beer list), cool vibe, slightly off the main drag location, free shuffleboard, board games, friendly bartenders and customers.

Honestly though, the beer alone is so good here that other stuff is just cream.

Burnhearts is great! It's very cozy, the drinks are priced right, and the employees are very friendly. They have a variety of DJs who spin anything from space disco to old jazz. The clientele is mostly of the hipster ilk but they're the nice kind, not the snobby mean kind.

I give it 5 stars since they serve hot toddys. It's absolutely essential for any Milwaukee bar worth it's salt to serve this healing concoction during the depths of the punishingly cold Wisconsin winters.

I met some friends here for my birthday. The bartender was nice, the decor is cute, but it was hot as a crotch! They finally turned on the air at around 10:30 ( we got there at 7:45). Another thing: from the Ladies', you can see clear into the neighbor's kitchen, so logic suggests that the neighbors could see me pee, if they so desired.

I will go back, because they have a lovely beer on tap called Magic Hat. I had never heard of it before last night, but I am now a big fan.
