There's chalkboard walls, stickers everywhere, bras on the wall, and other things to make it feel like a small, crappy, sketchy venue which is cool.. But, the downside is then it just feels like a small, crappy, sketchy venue.
Everyone who was at the show I went to was at least 7 years older than me. If they were a guy, they had a beard, and if they were a girl they dressed better than me. It was a pretty intimidating experience.
It was a very small venue which can be fun at times, but there was a whole bench right where I was hoping to dance.
My favorite bar in Lexington. They're the best venue in Lexington for live music. I went here to see GWAR live and I was not disappointed by the performance or the venue. They have a fine beer selection. The staff is friendly and the bouncers are alright. Its street parking, but the area is pretty desolate the adjacent parking lots get the job done. Definitely worth checking out!
Review Source:I recently traveled down to Lexington from Cincinnati for the Dresden Dolls show, using GPS to locate Buster's Billiards & Backroom. Â To be honest, I initially drove right past the turn off because the street looked abandoned. Â So, yeah, that should tell you a little about the location; it's definitely not in a part of town that sees a lot of nightlife outside of the venue. While there isn't much parking available in adjacent lots, the aforementioned lack of nightlife made it pretty easy to find a spot on the street. Â
Once I made it into the club, though, I was pleasantly surprised. Â There is a front room with a bar, chairs, and several pool tables. Â The bartenders were friendly and attentive, and I loved the fact that free water was available from coolers at the bar. Â The concert area itself is cooled by a giant industrial fan, which was really nice once a bunch of people started packing in. Â I think the building used to house a brewery, but don't hold me to it; it does sport a sort of an old, abandoned industrial feel to it. Â The only drawback I noticed was that the concrete floor and lack of tables/chair did lead to some sore feet/legs/backs. Â I saw most of the old fogeys like myself shifting and stretching uncomfortably during the show.
