I'm sort of surprised this place doesn't get more average stars.  I thought it was an outstanding cocktail bar and restaurant with a somewhat pretentious name.  They had great cocktails here and a great bourbon selection including Pappy van Winkle which you can barely get out west.  I had the steak tartare appetizer and thought they made a mistake and brought me the steak tartare dinner.  Holy beelzebub was that great steak tartare.  I insisted the chef dropped some mustard or wasabi in there (which I thought was great) but the bartender insisted it was just hot sauce.  I still think I'm right.  Lexington needs to recognize this place.

Great bar service and amazing cocktails!  Our group was two couples and we had three of their specialty cocktails which were amazing- love the focus on local style and ingredients.  Our bartender was very knowledgeable about the bourbon, all the signature drinks, and wine!  I was very impressed and happy.  The food was ok- we had 6-7 apps or sides and they ranged from ok to good but nothing was truly memorable.  I'd definitely go back for a cocktail or two though....not sire I could handle three!

If this review was just for the bar, service, drinks, and atmosphere they would have gotten 5 stars but since it's mostly a restaurant I had to go with 3.

We went here on a Tuesday so it wasn't too busy, though I can imagine that this place does get busy towards the weekend. The interior is really welcoming : the wood and steel decor has a contemporary yet solid feel. The bi fold windows at the front make the restaurant open, warm and inviting. Also check out the bar - it is really long as well.

A good portion of the menu was on the blackboard with around seven special dishes. The menu had a reasonable number of options.

We had the salad with champagne dressing which was simple and restrained - it had a little heat and pepper to it which is nice. Next up was the lobster mac and cheese which is not something I usually go for but it was delicious. The lobster was piping hot, tender and generous. it also was only slightly cheesy, which was smart as it let the lobster be the star of the show and left room for the texture of the breadcrumbs to be nice and dry. So often poorer ingredients are masked by a ton of cheese - not here. Balance and restraint. Finally, we had the pork chop that was accompanied by some kale and reminded me of how good a pork chop can be. It was cooked perfectly and had a wonderful crispness to it. Dessert was small and light - just the right size.

They had a good range of wines and beers - sadly no drafts so we had the St Bris instead along with a couple of other whites which paired nicely. Service was warm and welcoming.

If you are in Lexington, go directly here and enjoy. Also the Village Idiot is across the road with around 20 draft beers :)
