My friends and I periodically come here because it is another great happy hour place to go to because it's a wonderful sports bar with great service, great food, and an amazing happy hour. Every server I have had here was always friendly, helpful, and attentive no matter how busy they got. Special thanks to Annie, who was a wonderful server!
Onto the food:
Potato skins: A bit soft on the outside for me but still quite tasty! Potato skins topped with cheddar jack cheese and bacon bits and served with a side of sour cream. Basic but tasty!
Sliders: These were okay. The buns were soft and the meat was okay. There was a pickle served on the side, but this isn't anything to write home about.
Salsa and Guacamole: Tasty chunky salsa and chunky guacamole with diced onions, garlic, and tomatoes served with thick tortilla chips.
BBQ Wings: Tasty tangy and savory BBQ sauce on juicy wings! Definitely something that I would order again! This was served with crisp and fresh celery sticks.
Grande Quesadilla: A quesadilla with a nice toast on the outside! It was filled with chunks tasty carne asada, cheddar cheese, and jack cheese. It was served with a side of salsa and sour cream. A really large quesadilla that was definitely worth the price and was really tasty!
Macho Nachos: Definitely a plate of food to share! It's a large plate of tasty goodness! A whole plate of thick tortilla chips piled with melted cheddar jack cheese, grilled chicken, sliced jalapenos, diced tomatoes, sliced olives, sour cream, and guacamole (we paid extra for that). It was really tasty and filling!
Fish bowl drinks: Tasty Mai Tai or Adios in a large fishbowl with lots of ice. It's something fun to share with friends. Normally we split one fishbowl between two people. The best part of the drink: it's topped with a cute duckie and on Fridays, it's topped with two duckies!
The Spicy Challenge
I didn't try this but my friend did. It was so spicy that my friend ended up sweating and hiccupping. Not the spiciest thing he or I have tasted, but it's definitely a challenge! If you want to try the sauce, it's a couple of bucks for an ounce or two. I doubt many would finish that small sauce container of sauce! Beware if you sit next to anyone eating it! Another friend got the sauce in her eye when the other friend was taking the challenge!
Overall, this is a great place to sit at the bar and watch the many screens and hang out with friends. The spice challenge is fun for some but painful for others. The service is really nice and the food on happy hour is a bargain! The food tastes good and I enjoy the atmosphere. I'll definitely be back again!
Way out east and in the summer heat (and winter chill) you can find a great BBQ place called Cali comfort. Â They slow cook everything and you can smell the sweet aroma of BBQ a few blocks away from the restaurant. Â The service was really great especially for our size group. They were very attentive and our water glasses were never empty.
I got nostalgic and ordered the tri-tip plate and it was oookkkkay. I like my tri tip with more pink in the middle. It was sliced thinly so it wasn't tooo bad.  I had food envy and ate the pulled pork which was delicious. If you want to swap sides out  DO NOT swap out the beans. They were amazing. The mac and cheese was good, maybe on the bland side and the shoestring fries, weren't super thin like I have seen before, but they were decent.
This is also a sports bar there they carry the MLB Package for all the baseball games and all the football games, they even go so far as to have a monthly calendar printed out with all the major sporting events for each day. Â
In summary, if you like BBQ joints, this needs to be on your rotation or must try list.
This is my favorite neighborhood bar. Â The staff is so friendly, the food is awesome, and I love their martinis. Â It is a great place to grab some good food and catch a game. Â My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the Tri-Tip sandwich. Â I think it is the best! Â If you like jolly rancher, you will love their Troy Street Tini. Â It is so good! Â It has a very casual and very comfortable atmosphere. Â Anytime I want some good food and drinks, this is the place I go.
Review Source:Service is spotty but the food is great. I've called for reservations and the staff put me on hold then hung up on me. Called back, and same thing. The hostess people need much better training. When at the restaurant they also seem a bit clueless not knowing a thing about the frequent user card that they promote online. However, THE FOOD IS GREAT!
Review Source:FIrst, the good: tender, flavorful barbequed meat. I can definitely recommend the pulled pork, tri-tip, and the brisket. Yeah, they are a bit stingy with the sauce, but they will gladly bring you more if you ask for it. The potato salad is sometimes awesome, but then on another day, it's just o.k. A few of the servers are not attentive, and there is one waiter that is just plain strange. If you are lucky enough to get Hannah, she is awesome. She obviously has worked in some classier establishments.
Now, the not so good. The restaurant is all chopped up inside with rooms here and there. An interior makeover is well overdue. If you sit on the front patio where they smoke the meat, the flies can be TERRIBLE. You can get a good drink here, if the right bartender is working, but you can also get one of the worst drinks you'll ever experience. I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea and it tasted like sugar water. I've never eaten breakfast here, so I can't yet comment on the reviews that rate the breakfasts as poor.
I go out of my way to patronize independently owned businesses, so I will continue to enjoy their tasty meats, and ignore the challenges the owner needs to confront.
Ok, let me start off by saying this place seemed iffy to begin with, that being said, my wife and parents and I went here for breakfast last Saturday. Walked in and was seated very quickly. Our waiter who was a bit on the odd side (which is ok) greeted us and handed us the menus. I decided to go with the machaca. It was $11.99 which seemed high but I figured machaca I guess may be considered a specialty for a place like this so I went ahead and ordered it. After a grueling 40+ minute wait, we received our food. Now let me say my meal was supposed to come with potatoes and toast (what the menu said) I received neither.
The portion size was hilarious, for $12 there should have been more. Still I shrug it off...I take a bite and let me say, it was the blandest machaca I've ever had in my adult life. It tasted like absolutely nothing. On top of that it was ice cold. My dad's food was cold as well and his eggs were cooked wrong. Needless to say our waiter never returned for drink refills. I can say it's the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Slow service, ridiculous prices for the portion size and nasty food. I will make sure none of my friends have the same experience I did.
Wow...absolutely horrible! My husband, inlaws and I went here Saturday morning for breakfast, and...what a disaster! Not only did the food take almost 30 minutes to come out (How long to eggs and pancakes take to cook???) Everyone had SOMETHING wrong with their food. I ordered biscuits and gravy, let's start with that...It was super salty, and my biscuits were ROCK HARD...i kid you not, I had to whip out my knife and carve into it. The eggs looked weird and dry, like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. My potatoes were perfectly cooked.
My mother in law got the corned beef hash and only had a few bites. She ordered her eggs over medium, and the whites of the eggs were barely cooked at all, the membrane around the yolk was still raw. Her potatoes were dark brown, with some pieces black...nothing like my potatoes! She also ordered toast, and never ever even saw it...it never made it to the table.
My father in law ordered a simple egg, bacon, and a pancake. He asked for over medium eggs, and got scrambled eggs. His potatoes were also dark, and black, and inedible. We sent back to get him the right eggs, and they were much better.
My husband got the machaca omelette, and was very underwhelmed. He said it had no flavor, the potatoes again, way overcooked. Very small portion for a $12 breakfast! There was a TON of empty space on his plate.
Once we ate as much as we could stomach, we decided it was time to get the check and leave...that process took another 15 minutes since the only card reader they have is an old impression machine, which no one seemed to know how to use!
I have been here once before and the food still took forever, but it was still pretty good. Not sure if this was a bad day or what?
Unfortunately all 4 of us were sick over the entire weekend. Not long after eating the food, we all had very bad stomach aches, and living in a house with only 1 bathroom...not a fun experience!!
I may give this place another chance for dinner, but I will NEVER be back here for breakfast! :(
EASY: Trip Tip salad (with no onions)... it's simple and delicious!
Although it seems pricey for a small (~9), the small size is actually very filling and they pile the Tri Tip high!
The service is always good and attentive and they have plenty of TVs to play sports games, music videos, etc.
Lastly, Â I try to avoid it every time, but their peach cobbler desert is something else... I'm typically more of a chocolate girl but whatever they put in that cobbler is yum yum yum!
I left a review here a few days ago & the manager/owner (?) kindly replied to my review, so my wife, son & I tried them again the next day & liked this place even more! Â It's a great place to go with or without kids, but if you do have kids, there's enough here to keep them entertained before the food comes out!
My only real complaint last time was the appetizer was brought out with the meal, which kind of annoyed us, but Shawn, who replied to my previous review, said he'd talk to the staff about appetizers being brought earlier & sure enough the next day we went the appetizers were brought out about 10-15 minutes before the meals.
Appetizer wise, the potato skins are probably the best potato skins I've had anywhere... nice & crispy on the edges, not greasy, but not dried out either & you can actually taste the bacon on them! Â Wanted to try so many things on the menu, but couldn't resist ordering the pork ribs again & just as delicious as the day before... in fact, we sat outside the 2nd time & got to see one of the employees tending to the cooker outside rotating the ribs over & over which made me crave the ribs even more!
All & all, this has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego for great food & an enjoyable atmosphere!
The pulled pork sandwich is just as amazing as I was told it would be by a fellow yelper. I usually snag wings and a beer on Wednesday nights over some pool with local friends but was told by fellow yelpers to give the sandwich a go. Best decision I have made in a while for several reasons... the main one being that the sweet potato fries I am addicted to and cold beer go a bit better with the pulled pork than wings.
This place does have a great atmosphere if you are familiar with the likes of the area. This would probably be the nicest place you can sit down inside of for a meal and beer in about 3-4 miles. I have been in a few times for breakfast where I usually have the eggs benedict or waffles. The breakfast isn't as spectacular but the mimosas make up for that! Prices are great considering that I get awesome food 95% of the time. Quite honestly, I have had 2 issues with cold food... weird considering that I ordered HOT wings.
I always try and get my friends from other areas to meet me in Spring Valley because I assure them that there is a bar that makes great food we can catch the games at. The back patio is my favorite spot for pool after a meal and offers a bit of privacy so I don't feel as if my extremely loud and often immature group is embarrassing me.
My last comment would, unfortunately, directly addresses the concern of customer service. Every time I come here, everyone is all smiles, and the customer service seems great to begin with. The issues that arise shortly after sometimes are long wait times for items I am familiar with waiting for, waitresses not taking my order for long periods of time, and waitresses disappearing for VERY long periods of time. My most recent trip found me waiting for my second beer longer than an hour and a half. Our food came... I ordered another beer from the waitress, she then walked away... didn't check on us for the hour and a half we ate and played pool, and then brought us the check (STILL NO BEER!). I refused to walk up to the bar and grab a drink because I found the ordeal nothing short of ridiculous. The amount of my tip ($0.00) probably got the point across.
I love bringing business to this place and LOVE seeing such an establishment in the area. If customer service is addressed, I see this place sticking around FOREVER!
I ordered the over priced tail gate special thats suppose to feed 4-5 people and was very disappointed. It was about $50 and not worth it for the amount of food I received. It feeds more like 1 1/2 people. Also the sides were super small. Horrible experience. Us barbeque people like to eat and will not come here again.
Review Source:Went for breakfast this morning - our first time. Â Hostess was very sweet, greeted us right away. Â Our server - Joe was AWESOME!! Â He made a few food suggestions, got our coffee and my husband's mimosa right away. Â Really like the coffee!! I had the carne asada plate no egg extra tomatoes and my husband had the tri tip Benedict. Â Both were soooo yummy!! Â The meat was flavorful and the service was great. Â Friendly welcoming atmosphere too. Â We will definitely be making the drive to Spring Valley again.
Review Source:This was our homie dinner picked by Oscar. Â There was drama but the food was pretty good. Â I now crave the tri tip once in while but the ribs was the one that hit the home run. Â Meat off the bones right away and the flavor just melts in your mouth. Â The side beans was so good that I ate all of it.
Review Source:Friendly staff and definitely comfort food...
The pulled pork was extremely moist which is hard to accomplish in my opinion. The sides are all good and the drinks are strong.
My only complaint was that the restroom was pretty gross and dirty at the time of my visit for lunch. Which kind of makes me wonder about the Kitchen?
Hopefully one day I'll be brave enough to try their hot wing challenge.... I heard only few have succeeded and many haev failed... must be really hot wings
Cali Comfort, I have been an active customer for the past year and I have been excited every time I come here. Whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just to have some cocktails this has been my favorite bar closest to my house.
But as of lately, the customer service and food quality has been lacking! This place definitely does have one of the best pulled pork sandwiches in San Diego coming from customers/media all over. The one thing that needs improvement is your customer service. I have said this over and over, and I'll repeat it on this review -- you can have the best food in the world, but if your customer service is lacking -- so will business.
That being said, I have been to breakfast numerous times and we've tried many different things (benedicts, french toast, waffles, etc..) and they have all been on point. Today was a different story. Shawn (owner) took care of us (by taking 20% off our tab - you would think 50% after the host/food issue) with the issues we addressed. I didn't know he was the owner till I was leaving and asked our waitress. Mind you Kaleigh is an awesome server!
Here's a brief break down:
The good - Best Pulled Pork sandwiches around, Great happy hour drink specials, Great for live sports events (bar has been improved), Awesome appetizers!
The Bad - Customer service (major fails!), Quality of food (on one occasion), Organization (It seems staff/management aren't getting it together, they need to work as one). Look at the review trend this past year... this proves my point.
Cali, you still have a soft spot in me! I will be back for some quality BBQ In town.
Till next time Cali....!
Best kept secret bbq in S.D. The pulled pork was scrumptious, the St. Louis ribs were perfect, the Tri-Tip was bomb, and the chicken was soooo most! Vinny my waiter did a kick ass job. Very attentive My drink never reached the bottom of my cup. Awesome place I highly recommend this place to anyone that love bbq as much as I do!
Review Source:Food - 0 stars if possible
Service - 5 stars because server was amazing, but hostess was laughable
So I averaged it out to 3 stars
Our server was awesome! His attention to my family was great! We never had to go looking for him. Drinks full, napkins readily available.
Our hostess she was funny. She wouldn't talk to anyone but my brother in laws girlfriend, even when she was listing the specials for the day. Being in Spring Valley, you'd think seeing brown people would be normal. But no, she only looked at and talked to the one white person in the group.
The food...that's another story. We tried the macho nachos with carnitas. The chips were soggy, the sour cream was just dropped in the middle on the top of a very small portion of nachos. And they added sliced olives as a filler. There was barely any carnitas. It seemed like it was tossed in the microwave to melt the cheese. I've paid less at fancier places for nachos and got twice as much food.
My entree was their version of a BBQ sampler. You get 2 choices of meat and 2 sides. Some of their sides are an additional $1. Well I ordered the Tri tip and the pulled pork with shoe string fries and Mac n cheese. The meat was dry and flavor less. The only BBQ sauce you got was in a little 2 oz sauce container. Luckily our server kept brining us more because without it, the meat sucked. The fries were overcooked and the Mac n cheese was bland. I almost felt like the food was not being tasted because nothing had any flavor except for the BBQ sauce.
Even sadder was the Mac n cheese with bacon bits for the kids. Out of three kids, only one ate it and that was because she was hungry and said she didn't want to be rude and not eat what she ordered. They also said their food was cold. Well when tested, it just wasn't piping hot like you expect from restaurants. Yes we eat out a lot.
I ate here before the new management/owners and I remember the food being amazing. Now, I don't care how close it is to me, I'll drive in the other direction to Coops BBQ for food. And to my server...you deserve to be at a better establishment. Great servers like you need to serve great food!
Very good food and service. Â
I had the patty melt (which isn't listed on the menu, but you can ask the server for it) and was happy with it. Â I was happy to find out the sandwich came with caramelized onions on it, which really made the sandwich. Â The fries were a perfect shoestring thickness as well.
My dad ordered the cali burger and claimed it to be one of the best he has ever had. Â I wouldn't go that far, but I would give it a four out of five stars.
I came here after reading about the top 5 sandwiches in San Diego from The Union Tribune.
Entered the restaurant at around 3pm on a Friday. Â We were surprised that it was barren; other than the 1 employee at the front, and the one elderly man who was just sitting by himself in a room that didn't look like a dining area, just staring off at the wall not eating anything. Â The atmosphere was really awkward.
Per the employee's recommendation, we ordered the "Chris Ello's Pulled Pork Sando"- a pulled pork sandwich that's piled high and served on a soft potato bun with a side of slaw priced at $9.99.
I am so ashamed for Chris Ello, to have a dry and flavorless sandwich named after him. Â The "Dry Rub" was nonexistent, the bun wasn't anything special, and it wasn't piled on very high. Â The fries were super thin and soggy. Â And it did not come with a side of coleslaw. Â Â
I told the employee that I checked in on Yelp for a free club card but he just said "I was going to explain that to you guys" and he went off explaining it but never gave us the card... Oh well. Â I won't be needing it since there will not be a return visit. Â
You'd have much better bbq for the money elsewhere. Â Especially at Coop's West Texas BBQ, which is only 1 mile down the road. Â It's funny, since we just stopped there before coming to Cali Comfort and it was bustlin' with customers...

An establishment like Cali Comfort is made every 10 to 20 years.
Here, time goes by faster, things are a bit sweeter, and it shines around the clock.
Listen, I heard about this place from different friends, they hyped it up as if it were a Mecca of some sort. I nonchalantly did not listen to their accounts of this place because some images that come to my scandalized mind when I hear the name 'Cali Comfort,' are bordellos, drunk houses, low grade hospitality, etc. Because of my asinine assumptions and fatuous dismissal of Cali Comfort, only unitl recently have I been able to be proven wrong, which is one of my favorite pass times. Ont to the good stuff.
I came here with my brothers to watch the UFC event, the historical first ever Womans UFC match, Ronda vs. Liz. At first there were no seats but our friendly and dear server found us a table within 15 minutes.
We sat and ordered, I had the tri tip sandwich with a side of beans, and my brothers had the nachos and wings with fries. Everything was finger licking good. The food came out faster than expected and my brothers and I thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the food. Let me accentuate, They have some of the best beans I ever tried.
As an ex f&b person myself, I really respected and was fond of the hospitality here. Front of the house was hustling as if to some late doctors appointment. But no, they were hustling to check on tables every chance they had, to fill waters, to buss tables, to acknowledge their guest, to answer questions, to accommodate everyone, all with mirth. It was obvious they were busy, it was a full house, but it was also evident that they practiced the art of hospitality by ignoring the laborious reality and focused and acted upon the service and interest of the patrons. God Bless the staff.
There shall be a sequel, trilogy, part four, V, sixth, lucky number, eighth, Â and possibly a heel bone (Egyptian for 10) of my meek wander inside this establishment to experience more of what they have to offer. These people truely have a passion for service.
Just visited this place for the second time. Â My friends and I sat out in the patio. Â Waitress was very sweet and attentive, however, 1 hour and 20 minutes later we had no food. Â I went in and asked for the Manager. Â Sean said he was the manager and could help me. Â He came out to the patio and we explained to him that it had been over and hour without getting our food. Â He said he was sorry and would fix it. Â Well, fixing the problem meant going in and yelling at the waitress. Â What an ASS! Â It wasn't her fault that the cooks were slow and couldn't get the job done right.
Anyhow, when we went to pay he said he would take 20% off the bill. Â Really, after 1 hour and 20 minutes we get 20% off. Â Needless to say, we were not satisfied. Â Our friend told him the least he could do was take 50%. Â He finally agreed to give the lunch for free but was pretty nasty about it. Â I think Sean, the owner, needs to take a class in how to run a restaurant! Â I think we will think twice before visiting them again.
Signed,
Disgruntled Customer
I've been stopping here for a while, usually while walking my dog to catch a quick drink.
+++++
Place is getting nice and nicer all the time. The staff is awesome, friendly, and pays attention to all the details. It is by far the best sports-bar in the neighborhood. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced, late night happy hour saves few more bucks.
Annie, you rock. By far the best bartender and server I have ever met anywhere!!!!

Just a couple, meat is hit and miss, depending on Thomas the smokemaster. Suspect smoker is not run daily. More seasoning needed for sure. Don't chop your pulled pork ;) pull it...chopping makes it dried out. Absolutely dislike your choice of chips for nachos, blah.
Eastern European traditions call for some Eastern European foods. I'd love to share some recipes with you that I know would be liked a lot.
....and popcorn shrimp tacos, whyyyyyyy no more? My favorite!
Tried it. Failure. Waited 20 minutes for the server.
Fries were cold, onion rings were good, cold slaw was tasteless. The tri-tip sandwich was okay and the pulled pork sandwich wasn't much better. The meats were tender and clean of fat but not much as far as BBQ flavor! The sauce was great though, if there wasn't anything I liked I would of spoke to the manager.
Breakfast was off the chain! Â I had the carne asada eggs benedict - what the what?! Â Even when my tummy was full from just one of the perfectly poached eggs, juicy steak with a wonderful aroma of spices, and the lusciously, creamy hollandaise, my mouth was still watering! Â I paired it with a spicy Monster Mary - twice the vodka (2 shots), which initially seemed a little tame since it was a huge drink (around 32 oz of liquid?), she provided me with an extra shot to make it worth my whie. Â That did the trick! Â
My husband had the chicken fried steak, which I'm normally not a huge fan of but this was SO good! Â You could actually taste the steak and the chicken fried part of it was delicious, with a great mix of spices! Â You could fry a tire in that stuff and it taste good! Â
There were were so many things on the breakfast menu we'll will be sure to be back!
I really recomend this place, especially if your a Spring Valley resident. Â I had the pulled pork sandwhich and the wife had tri-tip, both were amazing! Â We also had some house margaritas which were suprisingly good, most restaurants overuse cheap sweet and sour mix. Â I think I read on their menu that they make their own margarita mix instead of buying the cheap stuff which equalled very tasty house margaritas.
I would like to also add that Cali comfort has a very nice staff and the restaurant is clean and well lit.
Came here on the 4th of July since there wasn't a family BBQ going on & I had to get my BBQ fix for the holiday.
I'm not going to lie.. It's in a ghetto area but im fine with that considering I grew up in National City.
Service was kind of slow & the food wasn't  as hot as I'd like it temp wise.. I'm guessing they were short staffed due to the holiday?
Had the tri-tip sandwich and the bf had the pork ribs w pulled pork. It was all ok but if it was served hotter it would be more enjoyable.. As for the sides, I was digging the macncheese, sweet potato fries, and baked beans.
I came by here, to get a quick breakfast, on my way to visit my mother. I ordered the 3 Padre Stacked buttermilk pancakes for $5.89 and a side order of breakfast sausage for $2.99.
I expected the breakfast to be much better than it was. The pancakes were rather flat flavor-wise and the the texture was slightly gummy.  I expected them to be fluffy on the inside with a nice crisp on the outside that is formed, when the batter hits the hot butter, on the skillet. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/aMX4biYvQvJaR7WqOp4zJQ?select=QJ25QbMmxXTW1oE-aR8Rjg#C74tTkIljw_O8ubslE3Sbg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) Overall, they were okay, but certainly an item, I will not go out of my what to order again.
The breakfast sausage were definitely of the frozen variety because I could taste it. They were moist and had a nice outside seer, but the rich fresh flavor profile was just not there. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/aMX4biYvQvJaR7WqOp4zJQ?select=QJ25QbMmxXTW1oE-aR8Rjg#zCAHGaVBIgc8T82ZrQNxnw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) I ended up making pigs in a blanket with my pancakes and sausages, which I put some butter, and doused in warm syrup to bring the breakfast along. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/aMX4biYvQvJaR7WqOp4zJQ?select=QJ25QbMmxXTW1oE-aR8Rjg#DSqrB0vrzmqiW9kDGje2sw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)
The breakfast, overall, was descent for the reasonable price, but I think it could of been a lot better. While I was there, I learned that in September they will no longer be opening at 7:00 am, but 11:00 am because it has been very slow in the mornings, but busy in the evenings. Whether there is a connection between the breakfast servings and the lack of business, I do not know. However, I have heard that they make some pretty good BBQ and grilled meats here, so, that is something I intend to try in the future to review.
I have had better......
Cali Comfort is a big time find in an out of the way spot. Â If you are in San Diego, venture out to Spring Valley and then you'll be able to tell your friends about this great place they've probably never heard of. Â It has to especially rock on NFL game days.
The reason to go is simple: BBQ. Â Downright great BBQ. Â They do tri-tip sandwiches, ribs and pulled pork. Â Let me say this and I'm not exaggerating in any way: the Cali Comfort tri-tip is simply the best I've ever had. Â It is thinly sliced and tender. Â Let's be honest, we all know tri-tip is the BBQ thing in California but most that I've had is borderline terrible. Â The guys at Cali Comfort made me believe in tri-tip.
Their baked beans are also terrific ... pork, sauce, beans and other stuff. Â Seriously, a meal of tri-tip and baked beans, what more could you want? Â I didn't have anything by BBQ on my two trips to the place, but their other food looks good too ... especially the burgers.
Lastly, they also do a lot of UFC fight nights. Â That's not my kind of thing but if it is, this is a great place to watch with food better than 99.9% of all sports bar type places.
After watching Safe House last night, I was hungry. Â I remember seeing this place listed on King Happy Hour's list and since I live almost 2 miles away, I wanted to give it a try.
We were surprised at how big the place was being that its located in a dense residential area and we were happy that there was a lot of places to park.
We liked the sign outside the door that featured the Specials for the Day. Â As we walked in we could here the chatter of happy people coming from the bar - good sign, people like being here.
We were seated within 3 minutes of being there. Â Asked if we wanted to sit in the bar area or booth, booth was my answer. Â To my surprise, the booths were very roomy and a good place for a group to meet. Â I could see the extension of the restaurant and how much space there was to have a group there.
Along comes our friendly server - Ray Anna...she was very nice - always smiling and making eye contact, which I truly appreciate.
I already knew what I was ordering having to preview the menu earlier in the day, my boyfriend couldn't decide. I was getting the West Coast Wings & Waffles (I love Chicken Waffles, except from Roscoe). Â My boyfriend decided on the Tri Tip with Fries and Salad.
Knowing it takes 14 minutes for chicken to cook, I knew there would be a wait. Â Our food arrived and looking at my plate, I already knew I was going to like it because it was Belgium waffles which I love. Â I took a bite into the chicken and I was sold. Â It was YUMMY!!!!
My boyfriend liked his Tri Tip, the meat was cooked just right. Â He wasn't a fan of the BBQ sauce because he doesn't care for the sweet taste. Â I took a bite of it and I liked it. Â He didn't say it was bad, it's just that he prefers sauces like Phil's BBQ - more of that vinegar taste. Â The only thing he was disappointed with is the fries, when he got his dish, the fries wasn't hot and he likes it hot. Â I explained that it's restaurant etiquette to bring all meals to the table at the same time and you know my meal was going to take a minute so next time we go, I advised him to tell our server that they can bring his dish out quick so that his fries don't go cold.
Other than that, the atmosphere was what we are used to, a little noisy from a distance and subtle where we were at.
I'll be back...soon...maybe today! LoL
