California Room

We had my moms surprise birthday party here. Its a cute place and the owner is so fun. We supplied our own food and drinks, although he said he would get a bartender if we wanted. They have a dance floor and dance lights. He even let me bring my Boston terrier to the party. The only reason I give it four stars is because there are limited outlets which made it a pain for crockpots and food and we weren't that prepared and didn't have a power cord. Otherwise, I'd rent this place again for a party or get-together. It was also a decent price for the space and the parking lot allows for ample cars!

Booked with the Cali Room in early February for a party in late May. Location was ok, place looked nice. The finishing touches were being done on the room itself and we were told the kitchen would be complete by the time we needed it in May. When we made an appointment to go see the place in early May the owner blew off our meeting so we had to reschedule (not easy when you work full time!) We went again the following week to find out the kitchen was incomplete. We were doing all the food ourselves and now had no place for refrigeration or heat. Just one more thing we had to now figure out for the party.

The week of the party we called to make plans to come early that day to do our set up. The owner was totally unaccommodating when we said we needed to come early. He complained there was a late night party the night before and he would have to come in and clean, wash the table cloths (cause he only has one set) blah blah blah. Funny but that wasn't my problem. After several phone conversations he finally agreed to let us in at the time we needed.

At the end of the party we were asked to mail the final payment in. Due to pregnancy complications I was in the hospital the following week and not able to send it out. Instead of a phone call to inquire about the payment I was left a threatening voice mail from the owner saying he would be showing up at my husbands and my work each day until the balance was paid. My husband called to tell him the reasoning and he was a total jerk! He continued to be rude to my husband and threaten him. He also insinuated that this was a common problem with us.

My advice is to stay away from the California Room and this rude and ignorant owner!
