Best take-out beer selection in the area. Also the very nice and social gentleman that works on the take-out beer side is VERY knowledgeable about all the kinds of beer they have and has consistently given me an out of this world recommendation when I haven't known what I was in the mood for. He is a "beer sommelier"!

Good beer selection on tap, great take out selection. Recently built a huge room which houses beers from all over the world and a lot of the craft beer made in the U.S. The staff is knowledgeable and is always willing to make suggestions. Oh, the deli makes great fried chicken.

Great food cheap prices good service. Not the best decor this place does need a remodel.

Great local bar and bar food. Sandwiches are good and I like the garlic hot wings. Beers are fantastic and the selection changes.

They also have a huge takeout beer selection. I have also gotten the fried chicken which is salty, flavorful and finger licking juicy.

I've gone with my children and the waitstaff has always been quite nice.

    Try the roast beef sandwich.

One of my favorite places in bucks county. They have the best wings out there and every Tuesday and Thursday is "wing night" so wings are 25 cents! Great family owned place I was in there the other day during a storm and the power was out and the owners were still there for people to buy beer with flashlights.

Good prices, neighborhood atmosphere, wide age demographic, huge burgers, great turkey dinners, can be a bit slow when busy, avoid the 5:30-7:00 time slot.

    I really like Candlewyck...here's why:
    -They have great specials
-Their wings are really good - I suggest coming for wing night (which I believe is 2x per week)
-Their beer menu is expansive, especially for the area
-The food is consistently good. I've tried several things and liked them all.
-It's a local place where lots of "regulars" frequent which I love

The only downfall is the service - it's slow and not super friendly, but everything else about the place is good so I'll continue to frequent Candlewyck!

4 stars for a dive bar mostly because the beer on tap just doubled to about 16 maybe 20.  I think to compete with another place down 263, they even copied the beer list style.  Food is a small step above typical bar fare, same items just a little better overall, best fried chicken around.

Local place, has been good in the past. The service and surly attitude just leaves you scratching your head. If you want a local place with good food and decent prices in the area, try Pineville or Wycombe Grill.

Diner-grade food.  A local establishment where the food is as doldrum as the company.  My ceasar was a joke.  Go for the beer and karaoke, don't go for the food.

This is a can't miss place. Been here 7 times and had 7 different foods and not 1 complaint. If you need good food and good beer, this is your place. Tons of regular beer choices and many you can't find elsewhere.

We've visited the "wyck" twice in the past two weeks. The service was good, but our food wasn't so much. We had fish and chips on Friday and I was really hoping for a light fluffy battered style fish, but it wasn't that at all. Some of the fish still had the skin on under the batter.

I do have to say that the waitresses have always been nice, even when it was awfully busy and the beer selection is pretty good.

I just finished what was a painful diner service. The food was good as always but the service was brutal.  wrong dirnks were served after she said by name what we ordered.  ( she nevered even looked at what she was delevering to the table).  she entered our meal worng so my wife was finished her appetizer before i even got mine.  she had alot of tables just waiting and tring to get her attention.

not a multitasker like a good server needs to be

Every time I go to visit my Grandfather, we almost always go there for dinner. Over the years a few things have changed. The menu seems to be a little smaller than before, but most of the things that they have removed are the low sales items. So as much as I hate to see these go, I do completely understand this move. They have added plenty of nice flat screen TV's (This was done a while ago). Plus one of the best things that I have seen change over the years is their extensive list of micro beers. It seems to be constantly changing and growing.

In the past month we visited twice. The first time was the day after Christmas, which was a Monday. Apparently on Mondays they usually have only 2 servers on, due to it normally being slow. Well, slow it was not, and the two servers were extremely busy. We sat down at the table, our server came over and took our orders. Now the service was slow, which I can handle. I've been in the weeds before. The one thing I didn't care for was the server's sour attitude about the whole thing. But like I said, I have been in the weeds before and bad nights happen. Plus, the food was great, with the exception of my Sprite kinda' tasting like Lysol. So it warranted another visit.

My second visit was much better. The food was excellent as always. After my last visit I decided against the Sprite. I tried the birch beer instead, which I loved. The service was fast, but there was one thing that still bothered me. The server was the same as before, grumpy and snippy. A little more friendly, but not that much. I mean come on now. You are in the service industry. And people want to be treated nice. Will I go back? Yes, because the food is good and my family likes it. But if I was a first time visitor I doubt I would come back.

    As always
    Stay peckish my friends

A nice place to go, good hearty food - not quite "pub grub" but not a while linen place by any means. Sort of like an Applebees, but without the corporate buff and polish, and with a far better menu.

Kind of loud and too many TV's for my tastes, but the Lasanga made me forget all about those things.

Good for the kids, wonderful "kid savvy" servers make for a better overall experience than other places.

Try the burgers too - really good.

Time to write a new review.  Food average, the shitty bartendress I complained about a few years back is gone, FINALLY.  Jeez, did she have pictures of the owner in a compromising position or something?  Was in there the first weekend of January 2013, and the little blonde cheerleader tending bar charged me $6.50 or a 12-oz bottle of Budweiser's finest ROLLING ROCK.  No shit 6.50 for an effing Rock.  I wouldn't mind paying that for a good micro brew, but Rock?  But try ordering a draft and see how much head you get on top of your beer. I'm done with this place FOR GOOD.  And that's a real shame because it's the closest bar to my house.  I'm pretty screwed I guess, because when I go the other way, I pass the Pineville and that's no prom winner, either.

The Candlewyck is the type of place you can come as you are, for a brew or a burger. We are always greeted by the waitresses and bartender. It reminds me of the bar in Cheers. DO NOT come in here expecting white table clothes, attitude and  frou-frou, chi-chi food. No organic goat cheese or curried tofu on the menu, at least not the last time I checked. It's good, old-fashioned American casual fare: burgers, brew, fries. The sandwiches are very good, very generous. Amazing selections of beers. They do have daily home-style specials which vary with the day and are always the same, Expect generous portions. I hope that never changes. Some things in life should stay the same, and those daily specials are one of them!! On the blackboard are some specials also, they are usually good. The prime rib is just right. I was disappointed in some soups, but that is darn minor compared to the rest.

Atmosphere is very casual, no need to dress up. No attitude here. That's nice for a change.
    .
Did I say the place is affordable, too? Nice to be able to get a generous, no-nonsense meal with drinks for two people for about 25 dollars for the entire bill.

As of late, slight "upgrades", and changes seem to be happening to the menu. The prices have gone up a bit, too, but it is still affordable. They are moving slowly, but there is no need to change the Wyck. I hope the owners don't try to Yuppie-fy the place, we don't need another "upscale", "improved" venue around here. We need a place just like the Wyck, just like it is. And after you stop in for a bite to eat, you will agree.

The Candlewyck is a local institution in the Buckingham/Doylestown area.  Owned by the same folks that own New Britain Inn, the 'Wyck as it is affectionately known is a nice casual restaurant where you can take kids, or sit at the bar and enjoy the company of friends.

The decor makes you think you have stepped back in time, with an old fireplace, and a big fish over it (which wears a Santa hat during the holidays).

The tap beer selection is acceptable, with Victory Hop Devil, Guinness, Magic Hat, Sam Adams and a few other micros rotating along with the usual macro suspects. However the bottle selection next door is quite good with over 400 different beers available.

The food is acceptable. The best thing served here are the personal tomato pies that Al or Nick make. While not quite up to Trenton standards, they are as good as I have had anywhere in Bucks County. They also make a great Tomato Bisque soup, served in crocks with croutons and melted cheese. Definitely something that will warm your heart on a cold weather night.

There are nightly specials (wings on Mondays and Thursdays) along with meatloaf on Mondays, Turkey on Tuesdays, Chicken Parm on Wednesday and some pretty good fish and chips on Fridays. Weekends you will see some specials. Good dishes I have had there include a decent Montreal Style Rib Eye, and a Blackened Grouper.

So if you are in the area, this is a casual friendly place with decent food and good beer. Stop on in.

The "Wic" is one of the best local places that I know of. I have been coming to this establishment since I was in high school (NOT to drink, but for the food) and every time it's been great. The service has always been good and the food has always been awesome.

When I turned 21 I started going here when I was home from college, and when I graduated I started to come here for trivia on Wednesday and that is something I look forward to every week.

Whenever a Philly team is playing they do specials so you can win tickets and other prizes (for 21+ patrons).

They have friendly locals that come in (some are annoying) but it's always a good time. Cheap bar drinks and very moderately priced great tasting food makes this place a diamond in the rough.

Although I do WISH that Yelp would update their address of the bar so I can check into it! Some doper mistakenly put 313 instead of 413...UGH!!!

one word - underrated. i must have passed this place a million times before i moved to south jersey. i recently moved back to the area and decided since i now live 5 minutes away, i have to try it. we went here with friends over the weekend. first off, this place is owned by the same people that own the new britain inn, which is also unexpectedly good. i ordered the breaded flounder. the giant portion of fish (3 filets!) came with two heaping sides. i went with the mac-n-cheese and coleslaw. i wolfed down the mac like it was my job. the fish was perfectly fried. tasty cole slaw too. (i'm picky about that.) all in all, we were definitely surprised by the gianormous portions, better than expected quality, and friendly atmosphere. i'm happy to say i'm going to be stopping in at my new old local pub more often!

There's a very special place in my heart for the crummy ole 'WYCK.  First of all - they served me drinks when I was about 15/16 years old - but that was many years ago - I won't say HOW many.  So a star for the underage mem'ries.

It's also the place I had my first ever Rob Roy.

You can get all the old school cocktails here - and beers on tap and in bottles.  The food is surprisingly good and safe.  They used to serve a tasty cheese ravioli - but that was a long time ago - not sure if they still do.

But man, that Rob Roy - what was I thinking????

The location is pretty dismal, wedged between a couple of large intersections, and the building looks creepy and a bit run down.  For a queer kid, I always thought it was the kind of place where a kind patron would take me out back and hate-crime/beat the queer out of me.  But it isn't like that! I know now! On a whim, I stopped in seeking good beer (not easy to find in the boonies), having noticed a chimay sign in their window.  As it turns out, they have the largest selection of beer in Buck's County.  I left with a few of my favorites and a few great suggestions from the salesperson, and I plan on stopping in again soon.  Sure, it doesn't really compare to the shops in Philly, but when you need a good beer and your stranded out in the backwoods, its best to make your way to the Candlewyck!

This little dive bar/ restaurant has grown on me. Don't let its appearance fool you, there's some decent food here.

I highly recommend the 25 cent wing night. (I used to come here when it was 15 cent wing night!) The wings come in BBQ, hot and "insanity." You might giggle the first time you hear the name, until you try them. If you're getting the insanity, might as well do as my good friend 'milk boy' does and grab yourself a cold glass of Vitamin D for a chaser.

Other notables are the Black and Blue burgers, giant-sized Chef Salad, and $2.50 heaping plate of cheese fries.

You can most often find bar flies, groups of local old heads, soccer hooligans and the local community sport's team hanging out here. It's a fun place to catch a game and not be stared at when you laugh yourself silly. Obviously it's laid back so don't hesitate to let loose and blow off a long day's work here. Highly recommend.
