    MAJOR UPDATE

    Titi's became the Caribbean Breeze Latin Grill over 6 months ago. The same owner, the same WOW factor, and same wonderful chef. However, the restaurant is now more focused on a unique Caribbean/South America feel. (You will read reviews for both restaurants on this page; focus on the 2012 and later reviews).

    I went in at lunch today with two friends and we were immediately greeted at the door and seated; most of the staff were dining together with the owner and these wonderful dishes kept coming out for them to try and learn how to describe. Our waitress was describing the dishes when the owner, chef, and manager came over for a chat.  We were given the royal treatment; the concept was explained and choices were offered. We chose the Caribbean Breeze Botanas sampler (and should have stopped with that as we boxed half of it for dinner), Ropa Vieja, Chicken in a cream sauce, and Chocoflan. Every single bite was perfect and presentation beautiful; we sampled Caribbean, Peruvian, and Cuban.  At the end of the meal the owner, manager, and chef wanted to know how everything was and we could not gush enough. I am going back as it seems at night it is very romantic with excellent wine choices and for me a drink with an umbrella, table side preparation including New Orleans style bananas foster, and a sea bass la-di-da.

    Yelpers, this is truly a gem.

    AMAZING... FOOD.. SERVICE. AMBIANCE. Do not be fooled by appearance from the outside. The food was so fresh and carefully prepared. The service was amazing.... like we were a part of their royal family.

    We dined here for the first time tonight using a Groupon.  I was reluctant to buy the Groupon because they did not have a website and there was no online menu.  They have a Facebook page, but still no menu.

    The hostess seated us in a booth.  We were the only ones there.  I needed a flashlight to see the menu.  They had  wonderful colored photos of many of the dishes on the menu.

    We ordered the Beef Empanadas, Steak Mofungo, Carne Asada, and a side of Tostones with my entree.  The server said nothing about the Empanadas taking 15 minutes, but from reading Jennifer B.'s review I was prepared to wait.

    The server brought out a complimentary plate of appetizers.  There were 4 saltines on a plate covered with a slice of radish and red onions.  She said to use the lime.  They were good.

    My side of Tostones came out next.  Maybe there was a language barrier that the server didn't understand that I wanted the Tostones WITH my entree.  I liked the small silver dollar size of the tostones.  They were crunchy, yet soft in the middle.  I usually don't salt my food, but I salted these.  The garlic/sour cream dipping sauce was good, but I prefer the traditional garlic sauce.

    The Beef Empanadas came out with the entrees.  They were brushed with an egg wash and baked, rather than fried.  There was flour on the bottom of the Empanadas.  One was slightly burned.  They were huge, but not filled with much meat.  I would prefer 4 little Empanadas.  The Green Aji sauce was good.

    The Steak Mofongo had a small piece of tough steak on the side.  The Mofongo had steak mixed in with the pork skin and plantain rather than in the center.  The vegetable soup was salty.  The tostones were bland.

    The Carne Asada was charred and very dry.  The thin cut of meat only needs to be cooked a few minutes.  The Chimichurri was very acidic and herbal.  The rice was seasoned well.

    The plates of food were beautifully prepared, but just not cooked right.  We will not be back.

    Cannot understand why there is not a line around the block!  The price/value ratio here is off the charts.  Yeah the 'hood is a bit touchy, but the food... the food!

    If they were in a more upscale location - they could easily add $5 to $10 per dish - it's that good.

    Who is this chef?? !!!  God this food is good.

    Started off with Arepas w/beef - wow!

    Can't remember the name of my main - had beef, fries in this great sauce with sauteed sliced tomatoes and peppers -wow again.  Even the rice, simple rice was treated with care - damn it was good.

    Daughter had her first Chimmichunga - PERFECT.  The fry on the Chimmi was light and not greasy, best Chimmi I've ever tasted.

    BTW - Once inside, you'd think you were in some high end place up slope.

    Oh yeah again - the service was the best.

    Caribbean Breeze (formerly known as Titi's Family Restaurant) is located on Colfax, just east of Chambers, in Aurora.

    I had dinner here a couple weeks back with Jennifer B. (a great dining companion for those who have not had the pleasure).  First impressions of the place were not promising.  The facade was under construction, the parking lot was kind of rough, and despite my having a 5:30pm reservation, they did not open until 5:45pm, because they were having an employee meeting.

    Once inside, everything changed for the better.  The inside was recently remodeled, and quite nice.  The waitress was charming and efficient. The menu was diverse and interesting.  You can choose from Puerto Rican, Peruvian, or Mexican dishes.  We sampled the Mofongo (a plantain based dish I have not tried since my trip to PR) and a Peruvian dish, Ropas Vieja.  Note:  This is different than the Mexican version, often a soup that is Ropa Vieja.  This dish was Shredded Steak with Peppers, Onions and Tomato.  It was very tender, flavorful, and tasty.  The Mofongo was a little different than what I expected, with lots of crunchy chicharron bits, but was excellent.  The banana dessert was a nice finisher to the meal.

    Come ALL YELPERS!

    Where are all of you in supporting this local Aurora Caribbean masterpiece?

    Dale Z. and I were looking for a place for an early dinner and decided to try a new place to the both of us.  Caribbean Breeze it is, yes the name change - please make a special note of this so when you all flock here you will know what to look for and you won't drive past it.  I'm being nice to you here so you don't get lost.  Your welcome in advance (hehe).

    Caribbean is new to me but I was excited and if you know me I'm willing to try almost everything.  It's how I roll.

    This place is unique in the fact that they offer Caribbean, South American and Mexican food.  A little bit for everyone, so again no reason you haven't been here.

    Another bonus is the Mofongo.  I watched Guy on the Food Network go to a place and learn how to make Mofongo - it was a treat to be able to actually try Mofongo.

    So we ordered the Beef Empanada's (make sure to allow 15 minutes for cooking), Steak Mofongo, and the Ropa Vieja which is shredded steak, bell peppers, onions and rice.  Everything was to die for, the Mofongo had crispy pork rinds mixed in with the crushed plantains with succulent steak.  Mofongo is a new favorite for me.  The Ropa Vieja was succulent and juicy, all the veggies added a nice freshness to the dish.  The Beef Empanada's were good, not my favorite take on Empanada's but definitely a solid choice.

    Since I wanted to write a well rounded review, we decided to order dessert as well with a wonderful recommendation from our waitress.  Some kind banana wrapped in puff pastry with mango puree and other yummy sauces.  Crunchy, crispy, soft in the center, and paired perfectly with with all the sauces.

    It's my new favorite place in Aurora and it should be yours as well.

    Get the mofongo, it is a good as any I have had; I ordered the shrimp one.  The tostones and platanitos (maduros) are fantabulous. I would have liked to have mojo with my tostones and crema with the platanitos though.  Sadly, the arroz con gandulous was not as I expected.  They essentially took traditional Mexican/Cuban garlicky white rice and put gandules in, it while still good, not the traditional PR version which why I went there.  My daughter ordered the Columbian combo plate, OMG, the chicharron was to die for and the variety on it was more than one person could possibly eat. My mom ordered the Mondongo or Menudo, she said it was tasty.  We also had the choice of bread or tortillas, nice.  We had the bread as would be traditional in Veracruz.

    We are planning on returning. It would be better if the wait staff was more knowledgeable about the variety of foods on the menu and how it departs from traditional preparations.  The two gals that were there when went, while nice, were not a good source to have a dialog about the food. It is ambitious to have such a variety of Latin Nations represented on their menu, the experienced would be enhanced if they worked on the recipes being truer to those countries.

    Dive Diva.

    I relied on other Yelp reviews to find this place (GPS location had us driving around a couple of times).  When I saw the comments about the bucket of beers on the window, I knew it was the right place.

    It is hard to find.  In a strip mall in Aurora directly across from the Village Inn and next to a Wendy's.  There is no sign on this place (yet); so going in I was surprised at how nice it was given the plainness on the outside.

    I had a churrasco, with a fantastic onion sauce to go with it, and my wife had lomo saltado, which was also delicious.  For an appetizer, we had Colombian-looking empanadas, and they were tasty as well.

    After we had eaten, we asked the server if the owners were Peruvian, and I believe they are, so next time, I am going to have to try the ceviche.  They are going to rename this place "Carribean Breeze", so we look forward to a return.

    While visiting Denver with a colleague, we stopped by Titi's based on the Yelp reviews.  When we first walked in there were only a couple other tables that were occupied and it didn't get much busier.  They had a few happy hour specials - BOGO beer, bucket of five Coronas for $10.  We both ordered the molcajete.  I am a big fan of the molcajete at Fonda Don Chon in Covina, CA.  I was a little disappointed.  The molcajete was okay but not great.  The meat wasn't of the best quality.

    The waitress was friendly, quick and attentive. There was sufficient parking in their lot but the neighborhood was a little sketchy.

    Don't let the facade fool you this is a nice restaurant and once you walk through the front door you will be in for a treat.  I had best Mexican style breakfast since leaving Arizona 7 years ago!  The chilaquiles were devine and they had two $2.99 breakfast specials that were very yummy although I can't remember the names of them.  Very nice wait staff & clean decor.  I will be returning to try out the dinner items.

    Learned about this place by accident and it was the best accident I ever had!  My wife is Colombian and complains about the lack of authentic food.  Or, when we do find something it doesn't last or is stupidly expensive.  Well we have been visiting this place for 5 separate meals.  After my first meal I learned that smaller dishes were the way to go...you go hungry it is your own fault!  I have had flautas...chicken then beef.  Today it was molcajete and it was the best meal I have had so far.  Great arepas, empenadas, fresh fruit plate to die for and great desserts!

    If this place was near downtown or the art district costs would be 20-30% more.  Plate presentation has exceeded all possible expectations!  Take the time to trek out to Aurora this place is directly across from the Village Inn.  Wow..enjoy we have again and again and again!

    The very positive Yelp review led us to this place. I am now questioning if they have changed chef and the crew just before we stepped in.

    Food was merely so so:
    Queso Fundido - quite tasty, turns out to be the best dish
    Mofongo - really dry and lack of taste, and I was expecting a pile of mashed garlicy goodness. The beef that came with it was well seasoned, however dry.
    Mixed seafood plate - you get a big pile of food, otherwise not memorable.

    Service -- bewildering!
    Our waitress took the order and disappeared. Someone else, who is a really nice young lady, kept coming by to check on us. Except....on a 10-scale, she'd get 12 for being enthusiastic and having desire to help but 2 for knowing what to do. During 40+ minutes of waiting when all we had was water, she came by 3 times to ask how we liked everything, well, we only had water. Finally, we mentioned to her that we'd been waiting for a while, something clicked and she dashed out of the restaurant. Someone came into the restaurant, went into the kitchen and then our food started to come out of the kitchen, slowly. Oh wait, the food doesn't come to our table directly, two people were involved in taking our order and apparantly neither one knew what the other had done, so the food sat there (and we can see!) until they congregated and sorted out.

    During our 2+ hour dining experience, there were 4 small tables of customers in total, but a whole lot of door-opennings with restaurant staff going in and out. Finally, as we were leaving and getting into our car, to our bewilderment we saw several staff (the ones who were going in and out) sitting in the hair salon next door chatting with friends, including the fellow who was brought back to the kitchen before our food mysteriously appeared.  Just to be clear, if our food were tasty and service prompt, none of what they do or where they go during work time would have mattered because I don't mind other people's beeswax.  Sadly food suffered.

    Outstanding. We were completely surprised at how fantastic the food, service and ambience were here. It was so hard to find and doesn't look like much on the outside but man alive, this place rocks! Stopped in with some friends of ours who are airline pilots in Denver on a layover. There was nothing good close to their hotel so we found this place in yelp and thought we'd give it a try. The other reviewers are right- can't say enough good about it.

    It's hard to find "true" Caribbean, Central American, and South American food in Denver that doesn't fall under the broad category of "Mexican" (often Tex Mex) - or at least that's my experience. Titi's has a wide selection of foods from this vast region, including mofongo (which I've had in Puerto Rico), arepas, and my all-time Cuban favorite ropa vieja. Everything that our group ordered tonight was quite good, and the portions were very hearty.

    This is a good place to visit if you're looking for these types of foods, but it's more than just a place to find something "exotic." The interior is nicely decorated, the staff is nice, and the ambiance is very nice for E. Colfax.

    Mostly, I rate this place a four because the price is good and the food is hard to find. If I lived in the neighborhood and had a chance to try breakfast, I might rate it a five.

    If I had to say something bad, it would be that the service isn't as quick as most would expect in the USA. However, by Caribbean/Central American/South American standards, it's quite good. If you arrive with the expectation that dinner is going to take awhile - and that you'll have to ask for things like the check to move the process along - it's not a problem.

    Don't let the stories about being next door to a check cashing place scare you, BTW - this is a decent part of Aurora and there's nothing to be scared about.

    OK. I read the 4 and 5 star reviews for this place, and I figured I'd give it a try. Pulling into the parking lot at 6pm on a Friday night, I was surprised to find the lot jammed packed with cars jockeying for a spot. I thought with all of this activity, the reviews for Titi's must be spot on. The parking lot is shared with a check cashing store, a barber, Titi's...and a taco truck that took up residence for the night.

    I  was surprised to find only a few tables occupied during "prime time" on a Friday night...all of the traffic outside was visiting the barber and the check cashing place. Titi's, it turned out, was dead....but based on the stellar reviews, I decided to stay.

    My server was very friendly, and quickly took my order (queso fundido to start, seafood platter for my main). The queso showed up fairly quick, and honeslty was just OK. Nothing to jump up and down about.

    Then the seafood platter showed up. (take a minute to look at the posted photo of this dish). To my surprise, the presentation did not disappoint. It honestly looked just like the photo! BUT, that's where the joy comes to an abrupt end. This "seafood mixed grill" had a ton of green and red peppers mixed with bay scallops, Krab (yes...the kind with a "K"), itty bitty salad shrimp, a fillet of tilapia, a couple of whole shrimp (head and all) and a cluster of snow crab legs. Here's the problem....this whole platter was passed thru a BLAST FURNACE! It was so friggin hot, I couldn't touch ANYTHING on the plate for 5 minutes!

    Once it all cooled down, I cracked open the crab legs and they were empty...serioulsy. (I'd bet the meat evaporated in the heat) Both of the whole shrimp were mushy...a clear sign these were way past their prime. The Tilapia was so overcooked, it too was inedible...more like a thin charcoal briquette then fish. The Krab? Blech. The bay scallops?Theheat turned them into tiny erasures...honestly could not bite thru one. The salad shrimp? Burnt to a crisp. Really...only the peppers stood up to the enslaught of heat.

    So, the only thing I was able to actually eat was the queso. Now at the end of my meal, I looked around and realized I was the only person left in this place. 7:30 on a Friday night, and it looks like I'm probably the last customer of the evening.

    It seems fairly clear to me the folks from the area around Titi's have had the same experience I did, and avoid it as I will i the future. I also wouldn't be at all surprised that the stellar reviews that coaxed me here were likely written by the owners of Titi's to drum up some business. I suppose they have the right to do that...just like I have the right (responsiblity, really) to tell you to avoid this place like the plague.

    On the other hand, the taco truck out front was awesome...which is where I actually ended up eating dinner. C'mon...I only had some melted cheese and grilled peppers for dinner, and I was starving.

    This reminds me of a popular restaurant in the Bay Area except it's not mobbed by crowds & lines day & night, like Sol Food.   Absolutely delicious!  A great find!  Must come here next time I'm in Denver...

    Went again on Friday night for dinner with some friends.. Again, the food was amazing. We had the queso fundido and guac as a starter and the portions (especially the guac) were fairly large.. We had a variety of entrees at the table and I ordered the rice & beans with pork. I haven't had rice & beans this good since I moved to Colorado. This place has definitely become a favorite and I will visit often.

    I find it a constant challenge to find restaurants with dishes I couldn't make better at home myself.
    Honestly, it doesn't happen often, so when I tried this place out, I was happily surprised to have a new spot to recommend to my friends.

    You will raise an eyebrow when you pull up, but the inside is done very nicely, and as a Denver native, I'm not sure I have come across another restaurant that offers the same variety of food, or quality.

    Very flavorful dishes and a nice break in the norm from pretty much any other restaurant in the metro area.

    The prices and service put it over the top.

    You won't be disappointed.

    Titi's Family Restaurant, thank you.

    Made a reservation for Dinner as part of our group International Cuisine Enthusiasts Tuesday December 7th 2010.

    I was slightly apprehensive to bring our group here coz arent sure what to expect and its authenticity of its cuisine especially their Puerto Rican cuisine and the Caribbean dishes that they offer.

    Boy am I glad, I trust my instinct and the glowing recommendations from you know who, you are.. Hint. Hint...

    These were what the group ordered that evening, if I could recall correctly :

    *  Arepas
    *  Tostones
    *  Empanadas de Carne
    *  Mofongo
    *  Ropa Vieja
    *  Pescado Mahi Mahi ala Plancha
    *  Parillada de Mariscos
    *  Papa Rellena

    As for me, I ordered these :

    *  Costillar
    *  Menudo

    I like what I ordered.  Though the flavor for the Costillar could be better.  I so wish, the Costillar could come out from the kitchen PIPING HOT, but it was lukewarm.  As for the Menudo, I like it.  The flavor was just right.  I opt to increase the SPICY-LEVEL with more red pepper flakes and more diced onions and cilantro.  The "condiments" they provide for my order of Menudo.  They also offer the "garlic special toasted breads" for the Menudo.  As usual, I like the flavor of the rice and the toasted breads.

    Managed to taste some of what my friends ordered.  Such items as Tostones and Ropa Vieja.  The Tostones, perhaps is their way of cooking, was indeed bland and tasteless.  So some of my friends, add salt to their tostones.  I like their Ropa Vieja too.  Its indeed flavorful.

    Definitely a return perhaps to order more from their extensive menu.  Since we were a large group that evening, the service to bring the food to our table was slightly slow.  But to some, its worth the wait, perhaps to others was not.  But our waitstaffs are accommodating, prompt by making sure our water or beverages are filled.

    The group enjoyed what they ate though some of them did not expect the food to turn out the way they might have expected it.  One of them who are from Puerto Rico, mentioned, this is what he is used to eating from his nativeland and enjoyed the evening.

    By the end of our dinner we were indeed stuffed coz the portions were huge.  Plenty of leftovers for my main entrees of Costillar and Menudo.  For that evening, my waitstaff was Maria Elena S.  They also allow separate checks for the group.  This is definitely good in my books.

    My dad found this restaurant one night while heading to the airport.  He had his windows open and smelled something delicious coming in.  Of course when he looked out his window, he noticed a black door laden, small strip mall.

    For the next week, all I heard from him was how amazing the food was and one question:  when were we going to brave it and head over there?

    So my whole family got together and pulled up to the parking lot that looked a little rough around the edges for a Saturday night (I won't lie, that part of town definitely has a reputation), but as previously stated, you walk in and are transformed into a beautiful, high-end restaurant.

    We were greeted by our server, and promptly ordered 2 appetizers:  the empanadas and the queso fundido.  Both were a hit with our table of 5; my husband couldn't stop scraping the pan of cheese from the queso (his favorite of the trio was the queso with onions) and I enjoyed the complex spices in the empanadas with their flaky crusts.  As a side note - I recommend ordering appetizers (especially the empanadas which take awhile) before deciding on dinner so you have a little time in between.  It may help the kitchen!

    For the entrees, I had a plantain and picadillo dish with delicious safron rice.  My husband had chile rellenos which normally aren't something he would order, but he appreciated their merit.  My father had the cerviches (the Peruvian style with a creamy base) and my mother had salmon, which I am supremely jealous of, because after eating at 5-star restaurants, I must admit:  that was the most moist and fresh salmon I have ever tasted!

    The menu was extremely well priced, which is probably determined by the location.  Had it been located in Cherry Creek, the chef could easily have charged $35-45 a plate, but the mild under $10 to $15 for seafood was amazing.  The nightly specials at $5-6 are an even better hit!

    We finished our dinner off with 2 desserts which I have to say would be the only negative to the night.  I heard they ship the desserts in, which you could tell.  They were beautifully presented, but I knew they didn't have a pastry chef on staff because they weren't fresh.  Next time, I will not save room for dessert and will devour the appetizer and entrees as I had originally wanted.

    This restaurant has been open for 2 years and surprisingly has been kept a well-guarded secret.  I hope they keep the quality up, because it was very delicious, better than many 4-5 star ones I've ventured into and I've been more satisfied leaving Titi's than those!  If you can get past the exterior and walk through the door, you will not be disappointed!

    This really is a nice place, serving Mexican, Caribbean, and South American food.  I can't remember the last time I ate someplace with arepas on the menu. The prices are reasonable (the only things on the menu over $15 serve 2 or more), they take plastic, they do takeout, and they're open past 9. How perfect is that?

    The staff is very nice and patient, which is a good thing because the menu (in Spanish with English translation) is huge, and it'll take you awhile to make up your mind the first few times you come in. The food was delicious and the portions are large. I went a little overboard with appetizers and the entree , so I didn't try the desserts, but they look really good.

    I don't usually pay much attention to decor, but the interior is lovely. The floral arrangement at the entrance was a nice touch. It's not at all what you'd expect from the outside.  In fact, the exterior is so nondescript that it's easy to miss, so here are directions: heading east on Colfax, cross Chambers and Titi's is the first right after Wendy's.
