What a surprise! This must  be the premier "night club" in Billings, MT where hip and house is played, modern chic decor, mood lighting, the ladies dressed up,and over half the fellas are complete losers and not worth your time.  For those tired of the Midwest dive bar scene and wanting to upgrade, The Carlin is your place.
WOMEN: Like the Polar Bears in the Artic and the Walruses of the Antartic, about half the women here were well insulated for the winter. Â The San Diego Chargers should draft 5-6 of them would create an impenetrable offensive line for the quarterback. Â
MEN: Some were dressed to the nines, but  half were ghetto and wore baggy t-shirts, sneakers, and baseball caps lop-sided and speak at a 5th grade level.  Maybe they got lost on the way Los Angeles?
One overweight woman whom reminded me of Rick James got up on the stripper pole. Â A little piece of me died that night.
The dance floor kept trying, but it never quite manifested even when we left around 1230ish in the AM on a Saturday night. Â The staff was friendly and if you're from California, you'll find the drinks relatively cheap!
In SoCal, this would be a 3 STAR, but considering its Montana, its 4 STAR.
To an out-of-town city girl like me, The Carlin was one of the coolest things going on in Billings. Â Love the decor - the lighting fixtures and the draping on the Martini bar are rad! Â The live jazz band on Friday nights was fantastic and the place is set up so there's not a bad seat in the house. Â The specialty martinis are yummy! (Try the peach!)
One star off for the awkward switch from jazz night to hip-hop night at 10pm. Â Kind of an ambiance killer.
