Relaxed authentic Texas Beer Garden. Â My daughter-in-law and I had the fish tacos. Â They were very good but I recently had the best ever in Rockport, Tx... No complaints though. Â My husband and son had burgers that were really good and the grand kids had hot wings. Â All reported to be good. Â We had an appetizer of Texas toothpicks. Â They were good... Not as thin sliced as I am used to but good..
Review Source:Great burgers. Â Cute waitresses almost all the time (albeit only one or two, as this is a small joint). Â This is a family run place, with three or four pool tables, a juke box and five or 6 TV's almost always on Football or sports. Â
The cook has been working there for years and always does a good job. Â If you want your burger this-way-or-that, they'll make it for you (but I alway get it "all the way"). Â In fact, this is the third best burger joint in my book (with 2J's Seafood being a hands down first, and Riverside Marina Inn being a distant but respectable second).
And not a bad stop if doing a day-tour on a Harley. Â But no fighting. Â Ever. Â (Not that you'd want to, because they never give you any grief there.) Â The police department is next door.
I was walking around Webster and smelt Cajun seasonings in the air... "are there any good crawfish places around?," I asked one of the locals. Â I have been craving crawfish for a while and knew it was around the end of the season, but was gladly directed to this 'hole-in-the-wall" place that has been around since 1977. Â
Right off of Highway 3, so it is pretty easy to roll up with your car/motorcycle and park in the front or on the side of the building. Â On Monday nights they have kareoke night and $6 steak night with an 8 oz. sirloin. Â Plenty of TV's everywhere to watch your favorite game. Â Pool tables, beer buckets, and best of all when in season: CRAWFISH!!. If you get there by 6 on Saturday night, it's only $17 for all you can eat crawfish, corn, and potatoes. Â My mother and I found the last table to sit at because the place was so full of people. Â Despite it being so crowded, the waitress still had time to serve us, and gave me a ticket to go up to the guys boiling the crawfish and they stamped my hand. I rushed back to the table then died and went to Heaven, it was delish. Â Then after I gorged myself of almost 4 pounds of crawfish, I went to the bathrooms to wash my hands and, well, they could be cleaner. Â I did enjoy the atmosphere though on a nice day. Â They open up the 4 garage doors in the back, which you can walk out to the other covered tables area (I think they consider the actual beer garden). Â
The average age of the people there were in their 40's, but I also saw kids, people in their 20's enjoying a bunch of cold beers, and an older crowd. Â Carlos' family runs the place, and I got the privilege of meeting the man himself. Â He definitely is an enjoyable man to talk to, and made us feel right at home, telling us all about the history of the place and how it's survived many hurricanes over the past 35 years. Â If you are someone who is always wanting to try something new or go out with friends and have drinks at a unique place, I would highly suggest trying this joint out. Â Next time I am in town I will be calling up everyone I know to join me there for sure.
BEST FISH TACO I have ever had - hands down! Â Someone suggested we try the Texas Toothpicks - deep-friend onion and jalapeno strips. Â I was hesitant, but what the heck - and they were AMAZING! Â Not greasy and surprisingly sweet!
Place isn't much to look at, but who cares? Â The food is simple, delicious and cheap! Â Beer is cheap, too. Â The servers were efficient and answered questions in a friendly manner.
I'll be back for more!
This is the only combination bar and barber shop in the Clear Lake City area.
The beer garden is your classic Texas ice house. Â Big rolling garage doors on the front and back open the joint up to the great outdoors in nice weather. Â Spacious interior, big old tables. Â Cheap beer, cheap pitchers. Â Mostly an older crowd; Carlos's has been here forever. Â A friend of mine has had her retirement party here. Â Twice. Â The back patio is covered with a tent awning. Â It's an excellent place for an after work get together. Â Or a committee meeting; I always get better attendance when I schedule my committee meetings here at 5:00 on a Friday. Â
They serve a limited menu of typical bar food. Â Decent burgers; juicy. Â Big baskets of hot wings go down well with the house red wine.
I don't patronize the barbershop; I don't think they serve beer, wine or wings in there. Â But friends of mine get cut there and they don't look too shabby.
