The feta dip was amazing! Good local craft beers on draft, grean food!

I'm torn on Bakkhus.  I've been here three times now: once for dinner, once for lunch, and once for Sunday brunch.  As far as the quality of food and drinks, I would give it 4-5 stars easily.  However, on each occasion I've been pretty disappointed with the service.

Food highlights for me are the Triple Dip (make sure to get Fire Feta as one of your options) with both fried and baked pita, the Gyro Burrito, and the Loukoumathes.  The Fire Feta is really flavorful and perfect with both styles of pita.  The Gyro Burrito is a nice spicy mix of Greek and Tex Mex, and was huge (and has a ton of Fire Feta inside!).  Finally, the Loukoumathes were really tasty and a great start to a Sunday brunch.

I've gotten both beer and mixed drinks at Bakkhus, and they have a really great selection of local and national craft brews (check the chalkboard for what's currently on tap since the servers usually aren't sure).  I ordered a Bakkhus Mary (Bloody Mary) and it definitely had a lot of flavor, but wasn't quite as spicy as I prefer them to be.  However, at $3 for brunch, it was a great deal.  In addition, the Mimosa is pretty tasty, and again, at only $3 during brunch is a nice drink special.

The downside that I've found with Bakkhus on these three trips is a pretty big letdown in terms of quality of service.  On all three trips, the servers just seemed fairly disinterested, which was never a good start.  When I was there for dinner the first time and asked what beers were on draft, the waitress simply said "I don't know, check inside."  Then, after ordering one of the beers listed inside, I found out about 5 minutes later that they were out of it, at which point I had to walk back inside to see what else there was.  A printed out drink menu (or one just given to the staff) could definitely be an improvement for them to make.

When my girlfriend and I stopped in for Brunch on a Sunday (and don't follow the menu on the website which says until 3PM...Brunch really ends at 1 PM), I was disappointed when our server wasn't able to get my omelet order correct.  She attempted to take down our order without any paper (which isn't going to be the easiest thing to do when I rattle off an omelet with gyro, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and feta), and then came out a few minutes later to verify that I said "tomatoes" and not "potatoes."  Thinking that maybe she was able to remember all of that after all, I awaited my omelet with hope.  However, my omelet came out sadly missing the spinach, feta, and tomatoes.  Worst of all, instead of the tomatoes, it was full of potatoes.  So much for checking with me....

I really like the food and location, the prices are great, and the outdoor patio is a nice place to sit and relax on a nice day.  In addition, it never seems to be overly crowded, even when the Kemah Boardwalk is packed.  For these reasons, I'll probably keep going to Bakkhus Taverna on occasion, but the mediocre service will prevent me from becoming a regular.

Simple. Hands Down. This is the best restaurant in Kemah!! Been a regular here for a few years. The food is consistently good. And always striving to be better. It's a small place indoors, but has a nice sized patio in the back. I would be here all day describing the food. So here's a checklist.:  Monday Night is Steak Night. Try not to miss it. Tuesday is Half price Wine by the bottle, Wednesday is Boil em up Crab, Shrimp and Crawfish. When in season. Now is the season for awesome Crawfish. They have them and they do sell out . And finally Thursday Night is Bottomless Pasta. Go. Enjoy. You know you want to. And If you don't live close by and you're in the area. Please try this place!!
