The feta dip was amazing! Good local craft beers on draft, grean food!

I'm torn on Bakkhus.  I've been here three times now: once for dinner, once for lunch, and once for Sunday brunch.  As far as the quality of food and drinks, I would give it 4-5 stars easily.  However, on each occasion I've been pretty disappointed with the service.

Food highlights for me are the Triple Dip (make sure to get Fire Feta as one of your options) with both fried and baked pita, the Gyro Burrito, and the Loukoumathes.  The Fire Feta is really flavorful and perfect with both styles of pita.  The Gyro Burrito is a nice spicy mix of Greek and Tex Mex, and was huge (and has a ton of Fire Feta inside!).  Finally, the Loukoumathes were really tasty and a great start to a Sunday brunch.

I've gotten both beer and mixed drinks at Bakkhus, and they have a really great selection of local and national craft brews (check the chalkboard for what's currently on tap since the servers usually aren't sure).  I ordered a Bakkhus Mary (Bloody Mary) and it definitely had a lot of flavor, but wasn't quite as spicy as I prefer them to be.  However, at $3 for brunch, it was a great deal.  In addition, the Mimosa is pretty tasty, and again, at only $3 during brunch is a nice drink special.

The downside that I've found with Bakkhus on these three trips is a pretty big letdown in terms of quality of service.  On all three trips, the servers just seemed fairly disinterested, which was never a good start.  When I was there for dinner the first time and asked what beers were on draft, the waitress simply said "I don't know, check inside."  Then, after ordering one of the beers listed inside, I found out about 5 minutes later that they were out of it, at which point I had to walk back inside to see what else there was.  A printed out drink menu (or one just given to the staff) could definitely be an improvement for them to make.

When my girlfriend and I stopped in for Brunch on a Sunday (and don't follow the menu on the website which says until 3PM...Brunch really ends at 1 PM), I was disappointed when our server wasn't able to get my omelet order correct.  She attempted to take down our order without any paper (which isn't going to be the easiest thing to do when I rattle off an omelet with gyro, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and feta), and then came out a few minutes later to verify that I said "tomatoes" and not "potatoes."  Thinking that maybe she was able to remember all of that after all, I awaited my omelet with hope.  However, my omelet came out sadly missing the spinach, feta, and tomatoes.  Worst of all, instead of the tomatoes, it was full of potatoes.  So much for checking with me....

I really like the food and location, the prices are great, and the outdoor patio is a nice place to sit and relax on a nice day.  In addition, it never seems to be overly crowded, even when the Kemah Boardwalk is packed.  For these reasons, I'll probably keep going to Bakkhus Taverna on occasion, but the mediocre service will prevent me from becoming a regular.

Simple. Hands Down. This is the best restaurant in Kemah!! Been a regular here for a few years. The food is consistently good. And always striving to be better. It's a small place indoors, but has a nice sized patio in the back. I would be here all day describing the food. So here's a checklist.:  Monday Night is Steak Night. Try not to miss it. Tuesday is Half price Wine by the bottle, Wednesday is Boil em up Crab, Shrimp and Crawfish. When in season. Now is the season for awesome Crawfish. They have them and they do sell out . And finally Thursday Night is Bottomless Pasta. Go. Enjoy. You know you want to. And If you don't live close by and you're in the area. Please try this place!!

Lunch review only.  Only place around here for a decent Gyros, but that's all you get.  Price is too high for the small gyros, waitress staff always seem overworked and grumpy.  You really get the service level of a fast food restaurant.  Nice location close to Kemah, but I only go back when craving a good Gyros, then disappointed by the service every time.

Went there for a Saturday lunch and it was delicious!

Service was a bit slow, but not to the point where it ruined our experience.

The two of us ordered the Gyro Burrito and the Taverna Pita (kebab in a pita). I definitely enjoyed the Gyro Burrito more but the Taverna Pita was good as well. The quality of meat on the kebab was better than most places.

There's a patio outside to enjoy the weather, and parking was pretty easy to find.

Gyro burrito is good, but super salty. Avoid it if you have high blood pressure. The smelt roe that others have raved about is just ok. the appetizer combo is just ok. The gyro sandwich is very good here.

Top notch gyro, burgers, and more.
This restaurant that sits next to to the kemah theme park is outstanding.
I love their food and atmosphere. I have been here many times and always comes back. You gotta try their firefeta dip for appetizer.

I've been to Bakhus several times and the last time I went to lunch it was the best yet!  I got a gyro to go and it was amazing.  I've found the staff friendly only to regulars in the past, but I had no complaints with the lady who helped me with my order this past time.  And besides Friday and Saturday night, Kemah has been sleepy- so don't fret about finding a parking space.

Food isn't bad, but I am really big on good service, and I have never found the service here to be that great.  Your waiter should  not only give good service, but should also have some knowledge of what the restauant is selling......I really think the staff that I have had experiences with ....just don't care, and that happens at a lot of tourist traps......  The food isn't bad, but it is hit or miss........I have definitely seen a lack of consistency over the years, and I know that they have had problems with keeping their kitchen staff in tact in the past.......I will give them another chance.......I like the decor and the place is cozy......

When we are on the way to explore the small town, we passed by this Greek restaurant. Yelp review shows that it's not bad.  We are not from Greek, and knew little about Greek food. To be safe, we ordered the fire feta dip and gyro burrito. Gyro burrito is hot, not very spicy, and very delicious.  It's enough food a decent lunch. The feta dip is unique, some warm small-cut burrito with a lot of dipping, which is mainly cheese. If you like blue cheese, you will love it. It's a very good dish for red wine.  The service is good, and the waitress is nice.

I'm not going to get into the discussion about if Bakkhus is Greek or not beause it's the first Greek restaurant I really started going to regularly. Also, I've never been to Greece and my family isn't Greek so....that's that.

Whatever kind of food it is, it's wonderful. I've never had a bad thing off of the menu and I've ordered a lot of things. Lately I was getting the Tuna Spinake, which was amazing. As an appetizer we would get the three dip option with two of those being fire feta and one being tzaziki.  I guess someone had a problem with fried pita bread, but you do have the choice of fried or regular. Personally I like the fried, I think it adds flavor, but to each their own.

The gyros are HUGE and so good. The kobe burger is good. The Alaskan King Crab nights are my favorite. Sometimes they have a belly dancer outside and that's fun to watch. If you do sit outside, there's a bar with a patio not too far away that may have a band playing. The band could be loud.

The fries with the greek sea salt on them are also great. They have an extensive wine and drink list (I was addicted to the Greek Tsantali Mavrodaphne!!). It got to where my husband and I would eat here almost once a week. We loved the food.

Also if you sit outside you may come across a very old black cat. His name is Onyx. The staff take care of him and he is friendly; it's not uncommon for him to wander around the back patio.

Hummus was the only real letdown. Texture was gritty....not smooth and creamy.

Had the tuna, and it was fantastic. Spinach was some of the best I've ever had.

Step dad had a steak...and he said it was good. He's picky about steak, so the fact that he didn't complain was good.

Their poppers are stuffed with gyro and feta cheese....delicious.

Calamari was all tentacles. A little disappointing....flavor was fine.

Mom had a gyro sandwich...she said it was good.

Sat on the balcony, and the Monkey Bar next door had a band, which made for a great setting.

Boy what a good SMELT appetizer, real crispy & well seasoned, and I highly recommend the Mixed grill combination of chicken, beef kabobs and half rack of
Lamb that melts in your mouth. Good service by Lance at the bar. Definitely will
    be back.

The food here is great and I would recommend it to anyone.  We love to sit on the patio with friends, eat and drink and just relax with great food.  I always get the Greek Festival Platter, a little taste of everything.

Steak night on Monday with the chicken fried Rib eye(jalapeno gravy) and loaded mashed potatoes. It is the best steak night in the area. The Greek salad that comes with it alone is worth half the price. I challenge anyone to name me a better steak night. Multiple choices, upgrades like shrimp and crab! Really I challenge anyone to take me to a better spot for steak night in the Houston area

Play at the Boardwalk , Eat at Bakkhus ! Come to think of it , play at Bakkhus too ( great bar there ) . This is not just Greek fair but it's also not the place that's trying to be all things to all people . That being said , they have a big menu and a lot of it is Greek . But it's well done , spun up , standards with a mix of unique twist and fusions that make repeat visits necessary and fun . Everything on the plate will be fresh and prepped right . From the pita , to the veggies , to the hummus , to the meat , to the herbs ( this part I know personally to be true ) , will all be fresh and done right . The people who run/own it are foodies . Not to say they try to get too exotic . They just know good food and it shows . I have lots of favorites here , but brunch is the best for me . Shrimp and sausage grits makes it like Saturday night never happened . Goes well with a pickle shot and a Bloody Mary . Which brings me to the bar . Excellent cocktails ! I mean really good ones . That's if you get something other than Jack n Coke or vodka tonic . This is where you wanna branch out . Think pineapple upside down martini , or just martini , or El Pepino or the Bakkhus Blurricane . And then there's all the craft brews , most of which are from Texas . One of them from right around the corner in Dikinson Tx. Galactic Coast . If I'm not mistaken , I believe Bakkhus was the debut venue for this micro new brew . The bartenders , managers , waitstaff and owners all seem to be on the same frequency : be pro , have fun and make sure everyone you serve has fun and eats well . I always have fun and eat well so I think they got it right .

Great food, service, and decor. The gyros were crazy good. Lots of cool stuff to look at in here that will make you forget you are one block from the bay. Parking is difficult, but that's expected given the prime location.

I have to say I was pleasently surprised at the food here. The atmosphere feels like a bar, so I didn't have high expectations for the food.
The parking is tough so beware. There is a parking lot about 1 block south east toward the water. But it's Kemah and people are parking kinda crazy, so be careful pulling out of and into the lot.
We visited late on a Saturday night and ordered the lamb and the chicken gyro sandwiches. I got mine with greek salad and my boyfriend got his with the fries. If you're not on a diet, then the fries were terriffic. If you are watching your figure, then you'll be happy with the salad. It was good sized and really fresh. I asked for extra cucumber yogurt sauce for my gyro, and I'm glad I did because not alot comes on it. The pita was great and the meat was tender. I'd definitely go back!

As of this writing, I've been to Bakkhus four times and I can't find anything I don't like about the place.  Okay, parking can be an issue, especially on weekends, but we are talking about the Boardwalk area.

If you're a steak lover, I highly recommend visiting on a Monday for "steak night": you won't be disappointed.  I had the sirloin and it was a thing of beauty!  *salivating* And if you're in the mood for some spirits, have one of their Bloody Marys.  They use the best mix on the market, Zing Zang, and they infuse the vodka themselves.

Went there today for my first time after hearing from a few people that this was a good spot to eat.  I had a gyro burrito that was awesome.  We also had stuffed jalapenos that were stuffed with gyro meat and feta cheese that were pretty good.  We will be back.

one-of-a-kind restaurant! I have worked here and I still visit to eat here very often-that says a lot! The bar is just amazing, such a great selection of mixed drinks, martinis, shots, and wine, all made with perfection! Now, on to the food, the grub here is so yummy and delicious, it's not just your plain, run-of-the-mill greek food, it's got American twists and there IS something for everyone on the menu-I promise.

only complaints are ones that my close friend made here...she also goes regularly and brought her mom for the first time and they ordered the Saganaki which was lit on fire INSIDE but they were sitting outside. This disappointed my friend because she really wanted her mom to see it. If they're not going to be lit outside I think the customer should be told ahead of time (especially since they're paying good money for it) because a lot of people order the dish just for the flambe show. She also complained about being charged for Tzatziki sauce cause she had never charged her for extra in the past...while it is completely understandable to charge for side items such as this, it NEEDS to be consistent, unless they want to keep pissing off customers. Either charge for this or don't charge for this.

This a nice restaurant not far off the beaten path to the walk to/from the Kemah Boardwalk.

    The Sunday brunch included:
    *chicken skewers
    *grilled shrimp
    *rack of lamb (medium rare)
    *yogurt diipping sauce

The skewers were fantastic, as well as the Gulf Coast shrimp. Mmmmmm, shrimp! Now, regarding the lamb, they dropped the ball a little. Out of two shanks, the first was well done (bland; no gamey taste) and the second was in fact medium rare (pretty good; gamey). However, their yogurt sauce helped out on the recovery effort.

Two things missing on the menu, of which I highly desired:
    *baba ganoush
    *tabouleh

For me, a Greek dine-in just isn't a Greek enough unless baba ganoush or tabouleh are at least offered--to which I kindly accept (one or the other). However, missing both is a serious (personal) violation in cultural eating experience. That's a 15-yard penalty, or at least one star!

For Houstonians familiar with the matter, I would prefer a Niko Niko's or a Fadi's to this place. That being said, this place has serious potential and I would suggest it for future visits. Heck, I'll try some other menu items on the next visit!

First time here and I thought it was really good. Food was great, but the service seemed a bit slow.  They had a big party so I will cut them some slack.  For sure will be going back!

Came here while visiting some friends for a good hangover lunch. This is definitely the spot for that. First of all, the flamin saganaki was outstanding and really cool how they bring it out on fire. Wifey got the ribeye, which was really good. Well seasoned and very flavorful. Beware though that anything you order will be cooked more than you expect. She ordered medium rare, it came out medium well, but was still very tender and delicious.

All I have to say for myself is the Medusa Burger!!! It was so perfect and it is huge. My friend and I are both big guys and big eaters and struggled to finish ours. I ordered mine with roasted veggies and not fries, but still struggled with it.

I hear that the cocktails are amazing, but I try to stick to beer for hangovers. Cool place right in the middle of everything.

Stumbled into this place randomly because the two other bars didn't appear open. This was a good choice. Since it was a weekday afternoon not too many people were there. To me, this can make or break a place. They either go for the gold or completely slack off.

No slacking seen here. The bartender (who totally looks like John Mayer, ladies) was very attentive and friendly. He introduced us to a new beer and let us sample a few items. I wouldn't expect this if they were busy, but this was a nice touch.

I didn't eat here (we had just eaten) but I did ask about the food. He says they get much busier at night or during lunch and was able to name, day by day their specials. That's a bonus. And because he did that, I want to return...endless pasta bowl night? Um, don't twist my arm.

The atmosphere is casual and "oakey"...lots of wood. I wouldn't know that it was a Greek place based on this, but who am I to judge? I liked it and will return.

I personally love the medusa burger, its got pinapple, jalepenos, american and swiss cheeses all on this amazing bun. The bun always makes it or breaks it for me. If you don't like heat, no need to worry, its not spicy. Also you must try the fire feta dip...amazing!

Rockin' good hummus. Great pita, and the ambiance is so relaxed, particularly on a sunny day out on the patio.

Went here for lunch today.  We sat outside on the covered patio, it wasn't too bad considering it was h-o-t today!  I got suggestions for a drink and decided upon the Moji-Tea.  It is a mojito made with sweet tea vodka.  YUM!  I did get a big ole glass of H2O also.

For an app we had the Dip Trio.  It had the hummus, Fire Feta Dip that was nicely spicey, and the Tzatziki (yogurt and cucumber) and came with fried pita.  I have never had fried pita before...o...m...g!  so good!

I decided on the Greek Festival Platter that had Pastitsio (their macaroni, ground beef, bechamel sauce dish), Greek meatballs, Tiropita (blend of cheeses baked in filo dough - my new fave!), spanakopita (cheese and spinach wrapped in filo dough and baked), stuffed grape leaves and pita bread.  Everything tasted fresh and allowed me to try some new dishes.
M had the gyro plate which was a big pile of delicious gyro meat, tomato, onion, pita, served with fries and tzatziki.

The food is delicious, but a bit pricey.  1 app, 2 entrees, 1 mix drink $56.  The food is really good, and the location is right down from the water.

The gyro burrito is amazing, with the firey hot goat cheese, wrapped in a pita. The Bakkhus burger is 100% our favorite burger in this area.

It's nice to go to Kemah and not have to fight the crowds of tourists.

Solid place! Great food, great music and is open late!

After a family affair in league city we went looking for a barish type place that was open at midnight and would allow someone under 21 in.

    This place is perfect!

I have to stress the food is actually fantastic! When walking in I have to be honest I was not expecting much. But now it's 1:30am and were heading back to sugar land and I know when I'm back on this side of town, I will eat here. The service could have been better but at 1am, I should not complain.

    Can't wait to come back.

Went here for dinner about a month back.  The food was fantastic.  Grant it, the group I was with was starving at the time we got there, and may have been drinking some.  We sat outside on the patio which was nice.  The service was decent.  The food which I would not call traditional Mediterranean was very good.  Hit the spot.  Portion sizes were fairly large.  I got a gyro and fries, as well as spanakopita as an appetizer.  Both were excellent.  Don't really remember how the pricing was.  Also had some interesting looking burgers, such as ones that had been soaked in wine prior to cooking.  It all looked good.  Ill need to back and try some of those burgers.

My family went here on Halloween day (Saturday) for lunch.  There was Morticia (Adam's Family) and a pregnant nun serving us.  We had the pita chips with hummus and gyros were really good, but they charged us for extra sauce for our gyros.  The baklava was large and very delicious!

We went as a result of a recent review I read in a local newspaper - four of us on a very nice Sunday morning around 11:00.  Not very busy when we got there. The server we had was awful. Took at least 10 minutes to get our drinks and 40 minutes to get our food once she got around to taking our order. We asked for napkins and silverware twice and still did not have them until AFTER the food arrived. Actually the food was very good. I had the gyro salad which I liked a lot. The overall experience was much less than I expected given the review I read. We should have insisted on a different server as she left a bad taste in our mouth with her very cold and aloof, impersonal service. Would we go back?  Maybe.

Went here on a Saturday night, sat outside on the porch.  I liked the porch because it had shade and fans blowing so it was not too sticky.  The only complaint was the neighboring bars both had bands outside so the music was a bit overpowering.

As for the food, it was spot on fantastic!!  The service was good, a little slow, but tolerable.

This is a great spot to enjoy some wine and good greek food!
