Really good prices on cigars. I have only stopped through here in the middle of the day to buy a cigar to smoke at a nearby bar, but the atmosphere seems cool. There hasn't been anyone in here the two times I stopped by which makes me wonder about its popularity, but that could just be because of the timing of when I went by.
Review Source:Best wine bar in Denton!!!!! Best selection and prices of any wine bar in Denton. Before taking to heart the review that complains about service you have to remember why you come to a place like the cellar. It's for the off the beaten path atmosphere. Take the time to get to know the servers, owner, and regulars you will soon learn to love the place. They have a fantastic selection of beer and wine for a great price (including the best happy hour in town) The most amazing regulars, the only walk in humidor in Denton, and of course great live music on occasion. The special smoking room complete with big screen T.V. is a great place to relax with one of the many specialty beers and watch the game while enjoying a cigar. Of course the special smoking room means this is one of the few bars in Denton where the main area is 100% smoke free. The cellar has a fantastic atmosphere that is perfect for unwinding at the end of a long day and having a normal adult conversation. This place is truly the exception in the Denton bar scene that is normally filled with frat boys and drunks.
Review Source:An amiable wine selection, solid beer list and a humidor besides - there's tons to like about Cellar 22, squeezed into a cozy enclave on Hickory. It's a fairly straightforward arrangement, from the varied (but not particularly deep) grouping of vintages to the beer cooler, where clever choices dominate. They carry Franconia on tap as well if that's your speed.
We ordered a cheese plate which probably leaned a little less than artisan, but the room was super chill, the bevvies plentiful, the cheer obvious. I'll be back to soak more of this space in, but you can't fault a grinning intro.
Cellar 22 is a great little wine cellar right off Hickory Street, an area that has seen massive renovations in the past year. Instead of plowing down everything like on Fry Street, businesses have come in and fixed up these old buildings with beautiful facades. Cellar 22 is one of these businesses. It is sandwiched between two restaurants in a long narrow building with a smoke room at the back and tables and bar seating at the front.
My experience here is mostly while visiting in the afternoons, having some port and sharing a cheese plate with friends. The bartenders there have always been charming, friendly, and very accommodating. It can get crowded later in the evening, especially if they have live music. If ever you liked anything you tried, you can come in any time and buy a bottle at a very reasonable price.
I cannot comment on the crowd too much since I go in the afternoons only, but it seems to be an older crowd, or the occasional college student with their parents, or some visitors who hopped off the A-Train and stopped in to shop.
In any case, I've never had a bad experience here and highly recommend it. Try their Port selection!
Please read the two other reviews before this one. Â Screw this place! Â I brought two new people this time and was excited to see how this place may have improved since the last time. Â Each time i have went it has gotten better, but not this time.
The bartender must of had friends at the table next to us. Â It took that table a long time do decide what they wanted(no big deal), but after we got our drinks it was like we were never there!
The bartender was standing with our back to us the whole time talking to what i'm assuming were her friends. Â It got so bad we pulled out cash and left it on the table. Â We were never checked up on! Â Even while pushing in the chairs she didn't turn around. Â What kind of service is that?!?!?!
