Charity Island

What a great trip!!

Although this is advertised through the website as a cruise, tour and meal, we brought our own boat. I can only comment on stuff on the actual island.

Bob, Karen and their additional (minimal) staff were awesome! We got there earlier than the rest of the tour and Karen was very hospitable. Once the boat arrived it was time for the history of the island and our delicious dinner.

Bob does an enlightening and entertaining history of the island based on his extensive research. It was fun to hear what was really happening on the island we've just seen from a distance for so long!

Once the official 'Charity Island power point presentation' (no, there is no computer...) was done, the real fun started. Luckily my toddler daughter fell asleep so I didn't have to share! I had the perch dinner, and hubby had the beef tips. It was all excellent. The fresh green beans were crunchy and sweet, with some garlic and ginger to boot. The roasted potatoes were hot and delicious, and the secret Charity Island sauce was good with the perch or the beef.

Our only word of warning is that the channel into the marina was NOT deep enough for our boat. We had problems with dragging on the way in, and upon trying another route out, it was not any better. Serious problems almost resulted with the muddy boat motors!

We'd definitely recommend the Charity Island experience, but next time we'll take the ferry!
