Probably the worst chevy's I've been too. Small(er) proportions, long wait for not being busy, disappointing service, food not as great as the others. I usually love their fajitas and can share it; this place was small and dry. Even the rice seemed as though it was burnt and dry, like from the bottom of the cooker. Not ever wanting to go back here; probably find me at a local mex-american place before you find me at this location.
Review Source:I am giving this rating 5 stars from a service standpoint. Â I recently had a reunion held at this Chevys and the entire staff was EXCELLENT! Â The room was ready, even before the agreed upon time. Â The food was ready right when I requested it to be. Â They had great service on the drinks that were not included in the price. Â The staff was amazing in helping me set up the projector/screen that I brought with me and helped me locate extension cords since I forgot mine. Â They were very friendly and never felt put out. Â Since we were there in the evening, we were able to close the place down and I never once felt rushed. Â It made the evening very memorable and I would recommend anyone looking for a place to hold a larger event to check this Chevys out!
Review Source:DO NOT SIT IN THE CANTINA!!!! You might have the unfortune of having the waitress Jenn. She is rude and she will literally talk shit about you behind your back. I'd rather drive the 10 miles to Vallejo and sit in the bar then come here cause I always seem to get that same waitress. Â And when you have a problem the managers are no help at all.
Review Source:Went to Chevy's with a friend since she was craving Americanized Mexican food.
We weren't promptly seated and were left waiting around for more than 5 minutes (which does seem like forever when you're standing, waiting, and staring at people eating food). Finally we were taken to a booth and we were served chips (that were pretty tasty) and cold salsa. Yeah... cold salsa. We rarely saw our server and when we did, never got the chance to mention the iciness of the salsa. It was gross.
My friend ordered the crab and shrimp enchiladas and I ordered a sizzling fajita salad.
The sizzling fajita salad has great flavor. I had it tossed into the salad and it was just perfect. The meat was cooked well and was very moist. It wasn't tough whatsoever. My only gripe was that they put a lot of onions in it and I noticed that I had half of a head of an onion in my salad. Which was whatever, I just tossed it to the side and kept eating. I got the dinner portion and it was ginormous.
I did try my friend's crab and shrimp enchilada's because it sounded interesting. Her only complaint was that there was more corn in the enchiladas this time around then when she was there before. I assured her it was probably a different cook. She felt unsatisfied with her meal so I ate the rest and I can say that the sauce was intensely flavorful. There were times where I wondered if it came out of a can, but tossed that notion away when I started eating more of it. She was right, there was barely any crab or shrimp in the enchiladas and they were filled with corn. Which is kind of off-putting when you pay $11 for something that isn't there.
The grilled vegetables on her side had no flavor. I had no idea it was possible to zap the flavor out of a zucchini or a carrot, but Chevy's proved me wrong. The rice was standard, no flavor to it although it looked flavored.
Overall, I've experience Americanized Mexican food at better locations, but I give it two stars for their excellent Sizzling Fajita Salad which was a treat.
i would like to have given them more stars, but their slow service was atrocious!
came here after a work event at the hilton across the street, chevy's had TONS of warning. we had a whole patio room to ourselves, a special printed menu of four options, there's no excuse for the massive delay.
we were handed crayons, we were sposed to circle the dish we wanted. i chose the chicken enchilada/beef taco plate. then we waited. and waited. they gave us chips, but the salsa took about half an hour to come out. the drinks took another half an hour. they finally took our orders, and we got the food a full 1.5 hrs after arriving! i had a date with the hot tub, and i was not amused!
their basic margarita was just ok. they had a pinapple coconut margarita which looked tasty, but when i went over to have some out of the pitcher, it smelled like suntan lotion, so i demurred. the strawberry daquiri was pretty tasty. they wouldn't bring virgin drinks out in pitchers, they were worried someone might accidentally drink alcohol, so anyone who wanted a virgin daquiri had to order it individually. those came with whipped cream on top.
my meal was just ok. the ground beef taco was very unimpressive. rice and beans were decent. the enchilada was best, the chicken was very flavorful. you have a choice of whole pinto beans, refried beans, or black beans. the black beans are the only vegetarian option of the three.
i did take my coworkers flautas home, and those were tasty! they came drizzled with a chipotle mayo sauce, and a sweet jalapeno jelly dipping sauce on the side. mmm.
still, WTH chevys? you seriously f-ed up. a number of our party members finished eating before the food for the last people came out. my friends who were served near last got some shrimp comped, but our meal was already comped, so it wasn't any big favor.
half my table had eaten and left before one lady next to me got her salad. she asked for a to-go box, she didn't even want to eat at that point (after 8 pm). they said sure, but then never showed with the box. all in all, a big fat mess.
it is wheelchair accessible. one of our party is in a power chair and had no problem getting in.
my company will be back next year to stay at the hotel across the way, but i doubt we will eat at chevys next time. at least i hope not!
The service is great for us. We've been coming for 4 yrs every Saturday and they all know us. Â That's great service when everyone comes to say hi to us. Our food is prepped right and if it's not they make it right. Our drinks come to us the way we order, no doubt they are made right! Â So many names to say thank you for the special service, but they all know who they are.
Review Source:This place is great to hang out with friends. I love the atmosphere.
The chips and salsa that they serve are both pretty delicious. MMM. I really like the lightness and crispiness of the chips and the nice and mild taste to the salsa.
The only thing I have ordered here the times I have come was a veggie burrito. I have never ordered anything else.
But my, oh my. The portions are humongous. My veggie burrito came with extra beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. That can easily give me three or four meals. It was so much food!
Delicious, but I'd like less food for sure! I hate bringing home leftovers because I never end of eating any of it and my family hates Chevy's food....
I have also tried one of their margaritas. I believe it was strawberry or something similar. It was pretty yummy.
Pretty good place to eat out in a group.
I had not been to a Chevy's in quite a while since many went of business in my area so I was happy to try the one in Fairfield.  I do love their watermelon margaritas on warm summer nights and this Chevy's did not disappoint me there, however that's about the only positive thing about the experience.  For starters walking in they had people smoking right by the front door with smoke drifting right into the restaurant (thought that was illegal) so minor annoyance from the start.  My party of 2 was promptly seated at a table for 4 with only one napkin/set of silverware.  Surely they'd bring more so no worries.  Wrong!  Had to ask for it once food arrived.  However prior to that I ordered my  margarita and waited and waited and waited.  The waters and soda came, chips and salsa came.  Finally 15-20 minutes later the margarita shows up, guess I should be happy it at least arrived a couple minutes before the meal.  But really, refills on the soda had already occurred at my table before the margarita even arrived.
The menu has changed but the prices are fair and you get tons of food with your meal. Â Nothing too memorable, I could do without extra sauces added that were not mentioned in the menu descriptions, but I certainly wasnt going to send back the food. Â Worst part of the experience was the service. Â From the lack of silverware/napkins, the long wait for a simple margarita and then having to sit and wait for the check to arrive I was very annoyed. Â We had people around us who were seated after us yet were headed out the door while we still had no signs of our waitress to give us the check. Â Overall service was terrible, the food was nothing special so I probably wont return since there are so many other places to get a good margarita and meal in the area.
I usually don't like to review chains, but I sometimes make the exception when I feel something needs to be said about specific ones, notwithstanding the chain overall. This one isn't too bad, it's pretty cheap value wise and you get a lot for a little. The food is decent, but the draw is to come eat, hangout, and drink. I guess I can't really knock chains, because it's usually the company that you keep that make places either good or bad overall
Review Source:Worst service ever. We were only one of two tables of people there and it took at least 20 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order, 20 or so more minutes before she took our order, and then 30+ minutes after we were done eating to get our check. It was happy hour and the waitress didn't mention any of their happy hour specials nor were they on the menu. It's not like the restaurant was busy, so it's not like there was a reason for our waitress never checking up.
Review Source:The staff is friendly. Our waiter and the manager on duty seemed eager and sincere about asking us if everything was ok. My biggest issues were:
1. They've changed their menu and the items I usually order weren't on it. I ordered the tacos and they came with a sauce on them that was unpalatable. (They actually forgot out appetizer all together.)
2. The men's restroom was dirty beyond belief and smelled like a vat of old urine.
Happy hour prices used to be so much better. Back in 2010 I used to frequent Chevy's During HH due to the amazing deals they had from 3-7pm. Their appetizers would be half price. I always ordered the flautas which are delicious. They cost about $4 during HH but now cost almost $7 even during HH. The other appetizers are equally pricey too. This Chevys had a mini tablet/monitor on each table which when activated by your server will allow you to order your food/drinks. Unfortunately we were unable to use it since our server did not activate it when she came by. Cool concept though. But of course when it came time to pay the bill which you can also do using the screen/monitor, it worked!!! Â Service was ok. Chips and dip lady was very prompt. I doubt I will return for HH since their prices are not as great of a deal as they used to be.
.
SO...... um yeah....I don't know why we keep coming here!
The LADIES and I ...( co-workers) came here after a long training day at work.  This is always the first place we say for drinks just cause of happy hour and it close by but everytime we come here the service is awful. We should have gotten our whole check taken care instead of a measly 30% off.  I didn't have enough drinks in me to not know that the waitress didn't make her "rounds" back to our table for long periods of time. SO FIRED!  I will keep her name out of it ( Im classy like that) but just know it's an overall wack experience. Even some weird old Italian guy who was trying to hit on my friends and I said he had been waiting forever to order. Only good thing  was the drinks we had and that's not saying much...royal thumbs down!
I went here for the first time in several years last night and I have to say that I'm disappointed. The food wasn't that great and same with the service. I'm on crutches due to a bad injury I had and the hostess clearly saw that but she decided to take the narrowest & most obstacle filled way in leading my party to our table. That instantly rubbed me the wrong way. My group and I were patient, since when we initially arrived it was very busy, but when the place started to clear out the service that we received was still very slow. We had to ask the waitress several times for items that we needed and it took forever to get them.
Overall, I definitely had better. One of these days I'll just come here for happy hour to see how the service is.
My first time dining at any Chevy's was last week, believe it or not. And from what I had been told, I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The food is good, if not exactly the best I've ever had... I'd say it's very similar overall to alot of Mexican chains I was used to visiting in Texas, so I definitely will return for a solid Mexican food meal
Our server and the manager were especially friendly, and on point... kudos!
Perfect location, Awesome customer service. Good food, GREAT HAPPY HOUR!
We decided to use Chevys in fairfield for our company Lunch party. Our department was extremely happy with the selection! There was ample amount of food and everything was ready for pick up in a timely manner. We are a group of 19 people and we had a strict budget. Doug was the contact person who took our order and assisted us to the fullest! I was very happy with his customer service, He went beyond the norm and his efforts were much appreciated.
The only reason why there are 4 stars here and not 5 is due to the fact that there were 2 items that were missing from our order. But even so, Doug made sure that we were satisfied by following up with us.
Best Chevys in Solono County!
I've been to this location a few times during happy hour and it gets a little busy as I sit at the bar but for the most part the service is good and pretty fast.
Happy Hour is always great, $3-$4 drinks and half-priced appetizers. All you can eat chips, salsa and tortillas!
You can't go wrong with the mixed grill fajitas and chewy gooey sundae!
The staff is friendly and they make your visit pleasant.
I had heard that Chevy's served Tex-Mex, something I've really missed since moving to California. Â
We were promptly seated, and the server was there quickly to take our drink order. Â Having never been there, I was not ready to order drinks when she asked the first time, nor when she returned with our water. Â Deanna had a watermelon margarita, which she exchanged for a Corona as it was not to her taste. Â I had the Cadillac margarita which was decent.
The chips were thin and crispy and very tasty, but the salsa was just ok. Â It was just missing a certain kick that you tend to get with tex-mex, but was not bad.
We ordered chicken and steak fajita nachos, and an ordered of mixed grill fajitas. Â The appetizer and entree arrived at the same time, though we had told the server we were sharing the fajitas. Â This all arrived without enough silverware, and without plates to eat off of. Â This was quickly rectified, while we munched on the fajita nachos, which were pretty good . Â The steak fajita meat was tough and stringy, but tasted good, while the chicken was ok, and the pork was pretty good.
All in all, I would not order the fajitas again, as they just did not do it for either of us.
The service was sporadic, but the servers were all very courteous. Â I tend to overlook a lot of service related problems if they are nice. Â My water glass and the chips went empty once, but they were refilled before too long.
I'll probably return to try the tamales and enchiladas, but so far, strike one...
Had the quesadilla lunch special which comes with soup or salad.
Not good. The quesadilla was luke warm which seemed odd since the food took so long to come out.
All and all mediocre food and slow service.
I won't be returning anytime soon and I'll probably think twice before dining at any Chevy's location.
The last couple of times I've been to this Chevy's hasn't been the best experience. Â In fact, we had horrible service from a waitress in the bar area. Â She obviously was having a bad day... or maybe just hates her job. Â She didn't have much patience for us.... like she expected us to know the menu and not ask any questions. Â She did not remove our dishes when we were clearly done eating, and had an attitude when we decided to stack them up for her for easy removal when she decide to do so.
We went back again so we can give them another opportunity and to use the gift certificates that the Corporate office sent to our friends after they complained about the poor service. Â This time our server wasn't as bad. Â He was pleasant, but could be a little quicker. Â We gave him a break because his name badge referenced that he was "new". Â It's unfortunate that the service isn't better, because I enjoy going to Chevy's since it's local..... food is decent .... and I really like the Rockin' Rita Margaritas.
My family and friends are Happy Hour frequenters, it's even the name of our softball team "Happy Hour" So about once a month we'll all set up shop here and take up a couple tables. (Even for my going away party we came here for happy hour... but we took up about 5 tables hehe).
I love the margaritas and the steak and shrimp fajitas. My problems that I wouldn't give more stars is that the food is always hit or miss with them. Which isn't very acceptable. The nachos they served up were burnt, lacked color or visual appeal, and were bland. Half the time we order wings they are overcooked and very dry. So I'm sorry guys but I can only give you 3 stars. Thanks for at least consistently hiring competent and kind servers.
p.s. My mother makes much better tomatillo or whatever you call the sweet corn mash stuff.
I'm a fan of Chevy's and this is one of the better ones. I was out to Fairfield on a Monday night and the gf was hungry and I was thinking where to eat. I knew there was a cluster of restaurants by the Solano Mall so I thought Chevy's it is. This Chevy's has the authentic and festive decorations to place you in that happy feel good mood. I think their salsa is fantastico and with the chips they get five stars.
Ordered the combination plate where you receive two choices of entrees ie.tacos, enchiladas, tamales and burritos with choice of meat, salad and dessert all for $11.99. A little pricier then Taco Bell and a way better deal. The waitress said the tamales were OK so I order the beef taco and chicken enchilada. The two choices had good flavor and so did the  tasty side orders of rice and black beans. The food hit the spot and I was satisfied.
It was nice to have dessert...a little dish of vanilla ice cream ( they called it mexican ice cream). I thought we received good service, but it was a Monday so I'm curious what it is like on a Friday. A little better then 3 stars, more like 3.5 stars.
I've been here a few times and have heard some horror stories in the past, but I just assumed maybe they fixed them. Â In the last few years I've been here just because it's convenient and it's usually hit and miss. Â But after my last trip here, I don't think I'll be returning to this one any time soon...
The steak tacos were pretty good, the steak was nice and they filled it pretty big. Â But the steak fajita burrito was basically an onion burrito.
Service was a bit lacking, things started off alright, but it was next to impossible to get our basket of chips refilled. Â We didn't get extra chips until we were practically done with our entrees and we finished the chips well before we got our food. Â I spent a good amount of time trying to flag down our waitress but it was almost as if she was avoiding us. Â The only reason I was able to get our attention is she was serving a table where to get to it she had to walk by our table. Â Other times I thought she looked right at us and I waved my hand, but no luck. Â When we were finished we waited almost 10-15 minutes just to get the bill. Â I'm not too fond of sitting around waiting for a long time just so I can pay them.
None of the stuff above is the worst part. Â The worst part is that as I'm sure it's not just at this location, but the busser is the one who gets the chips and salsa for you. Â And after watching him clear off several tables and just touching all the dirty plates and utensils then touching the trash can and reaching in to push down the trash, I'm not a big fan of him touching the paper that is used to separate the chips of the basket and then scooping the chips. Â And yes there was no washing of the hands anywhere not even humoring us with a sink or something. Â Believe it or not it gets worse. Â Before we left I noticed that he was brining out new buckets of chips and as he was pouring them in the warmer, he was using his bare hands to flatten the mound so he can pour more chips in. Â That has to be a health violation somewhere....
Bottom line, I like to go out to eat and not get food poisoning or eat trash with my chips. Â I'll be making the drive to either Vallejo or Vacaville from now on. Â At least in Vacaville the server is usually the one to bring the chips and salsa.
I went to lunch with a friend and her two kids at Chevys during the weekend. We got seated right away in the back. The waitress was very nice; she got a high chair for us right away. Â I order the Taste of Chevy b/c I didn't know what else to order. It had a little of everything. Everyone else order: Steak or chicken fajitas and cheese quesadillas.
The food was great, the staff was great. We didn't have to wait too long for our drinks and food. It was more like the waitress had to wait for us to figure out what we wanted to order. Plus, the waitress would come around very often to refill our drinks and chips & salsa. I think we ate like 3 basket full of chips. Â I would recommend everyone to come to this particular Chevys, they do a great job.
I actually like this Chevy's! Though it's my first time posting a review, I've been here quite a number of times during my pre-Yelp days.
In the past I've seen this place packed or virtually empty. It all depends on what day of the week you come and of course the weather can always play a factor in an impromptu happy hour or dine-in visit.
Tonight we waited just a shade under five minutes for a table. I had one of their coupons - buy one entrée and get a second entrée for 3.99.
So I used it on their 'New! Chicken Enchilada Suizas' - Two enchiladas stuffed with house-made salsa chicken and Jack cheese then topped with fresh tomatillo green sauce and crema fresca, served with mesquite grilled veggies and Fresh Mex rice.
The enchiladas were pretty good to say the least. The veggies alone were just perfect. I must have acquired a recent broccoli fix, it was so good!
To taste, I tried their "Chevy's Smokin' Hot Habanero" table sauce. Nice smoky flavor, but I laughed and would suggest a name change to remove "Hot Habanero" off the label. This is a family place let's not scare off anyone. We don't want the habanero police knocking on the door now do we?
This location has a bar room section where you can chill and chat or catch up with your favorite sports. Large or small, there's plenty of room to hold a party celebration and they have a nice outdoor patio area for weather perfect days. Even yours truly had a little intimate gathering here before and took home a sombrero for remembrance.
Good chips and good salsa, Chevy's Fresh Mex I'm a fan...
When thinking about this place I am brought back to my youth playing with tortilla dough and birthday sombreros. Now that I have gotten a bit older, I can make more memories with happy hour specials. =) They run from 3-7pm margaritas $3 and half off appetizers....  Right across the way there is a blue frog which has a happy hour at the same time the deal there is  $2 pints and some kind of discounts off the "small bites" as they call them.  I usually hit blue frog first  then go over to Chevys to get food and margaritas...  Overall the only thing that saved this from 3 stars is the happy hour specials.
p.s.
The appetizer I usually go with is the wings.
Edit: The deals are no longer as amazing as the once were.... actually happy hour does not feel to happy when your paying so much per margarita.
Protip: Â For happy hour deals goto Blue Frog or Johnny Carinos...
On our way back from the Jelly Belly Factory, we stopped here for lunch. Usually, Chevy's is one of the few chains with above average service on a consistent basis. Unfortunately, not this time.
What we liked:
-we were seated promptly
-my chicken fajitas were sizzling hot
-my nephew and I loved the mango lemonade
Here's why they disappointed me:
-beans and rice that my nephew ordered were spicier than normal
-service seemed very "meh", we had to ask twice for a spoon
-and the big NO-NO: my gf ordered the Farmer's Market Quesedilla(veggie only) and she saw a piece of chicken!!!
-to continue, when we mentioned this to the server, she seemed very apathetic, at best, and there was no apology or compensation from she or a mgr.
Overall, I'm giving this below-average trip a mulligan. Still, they make a good margarita, and I'll only go to their location in South SF or in the city. But I'm gonna heed the words of ESPN guru Chris Berman: "Once is an accident, twice is a trend, three times is a problem."
I come to Chevy's every chance I get for Happy Hour! You CANNOT beat $3 appetizers and $3 margaritas! Happy Hour runs from 3-7pm during the week, so you should always find time to go!
BUT try to avoid Friday nights!! My friends and I showed up at 5:30 at the Vacaville location and waited in line for a good hour! The Cantina (where Happy Hour is served) is self-seating, so you are literally scravaging for a table! We had 30 mins to order food and a few drinks cause after 7pm, margaritas go back up to almost $7 each!! I THINK the Fairfield location isn't as bad, so that's where I'll be going after work!
See you guys there!! ~*xoxo*~
This place is just ok. The bar service is horrible here. Last time some friends and I went here, we not only got our drinks late, but also they completely messed up our order. We had to go to the manager to get things adjusted to our satisfaction.
The food here is standard fair, but nothing  exceptional. The service here has been rather horrible, the times I've went, and I could only assume how horrible it'd when its busy here.
We came here to watch a warrior game because the satellite was out at Applebees and we didn't feel like driving to Vacaville to watch the game at BJ's or TGIF. Â
word of advice: do not come here if you want to watch a game. Â
TVs were so small at the bar I had to squint to see them, and I was sitting at the bar. Â OK, I'm exaggerating, but they need to update their TVs, at least to 27 in. Â they got 20 in TVs. Â
But the flautas are good, steak quesadillas diablo style, and a few other good things on the menu.
