I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was!
You know how some restaurants, the food is nondescript...it all taste the same? Well that was not the case here...everything had it's separate flavor and personality...it was Really good! And the best part...it was very inexpensive and had a fun atmosphere! My husband and I had our own dinner, plus 2 large drinks, plus fresh chips and salsa...all for under $30. Can't wait to go back :)
With so many options in Rocklin/Roseville, do NOT go here! Â Terrible service and meh food! Â My hubby and I dropped in prior to a movie the other day. Â After waiting for the hostess for 10 min, we were lead past multiple nasty, uncleared tables and sat at a booth by the window. Â Our server arrived relatively promptly with chips and salsa, took our drink order and then disappeared. Â We were never brought any utensils or napkins (kind-of important when eating drippy salsa!) and my husband had to go up to the bar to ask for them. Â Finally our guy returned and took our dinner order. Â He noticed our drinks were half full and grabbed them for refills. Â Ok, perhaps he's turning things around. Â Nope! Â The guy was gone for like 10 minutes and we were left drink-less eating salty chips and salsa! Â A different server came with our meals....almost. Â He didn't have the right order. Â So, gone again and then finally our guy returns with our meals and our refilled drinks. Â I was so close to getting up and leaving when he disappeared w/ our drinks. Â It wasn't even busy the day we were there. Â We would have been much better off at Don Quixotes!
Review Source:Leah is an awesome server!   She came back with more ice tea, chips, napkins.  Didn't have to ask for anything.  When I told her thank you, she said your welcome.  Great manners!  Nice to hear that that instead of  no problem, you bet, no worries which I get in response to my thank you at other places.   Food was hot and made just how I ordered it.  I will be back.
Review Source:Horrible service. We arrived about 3:00 for an early meal. We were seated, and then forgotten for 45 minutes. Â Twice a server came by, and we asked nicely for an entree and a drink. We were ignored. Â We have been to many Chevys restaurants over the years and have never received this awful level of service. Will not return to this location.
Review Source:The food was decent but cold. You can tell it was sitting for a long time. The rice was dry and the beans were starting to get hard. Service was very very slow. It took almost 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. We had to eat our food fast because we needed to be somewhere! The manager have us 25% off our tab. Would have asked for more but it would have taken longer! Plus the waiter took almost 10mins to bring the change back!! What is wrong with this place??? NEVER going back!!!
Review Source:We came here because we had a coupon. It wasn't until we were seated that we realized we left the coupon on the kitchen counter. We told our server and he said we needed to physically hand the coupon over so we couldn't get any kind of discount. I really wanted the fajitas, but then I noticed they had raised their prices. I cannot justify paying $15 for grilled vegetables. I got the burrito instead, which was $10. My husband got the veggie enchiladas, which came with rice & beans. We like spicy food, but the sauce was unusually spicy, like someone went out if their way to make it unbearably spicy. We left with our mouths on fire, feeling disappointed by the quality of the food for the high price we paid.
Review Source:I've been to Chevy's all over California. Â This location by far has the best service! Â Rarely have we waited more than 20 minutes and the food is ALWAYS good!
We usually take our 87 year old mom, who uses a walker. They always go over and above to make sure she is comfortable. Â Oh, and that she gets her margarita FAST!! Â haha..... Â Thanks Chevy's!.
I came here for a special event and I was impressed. Â I generally avoid chain restaurants, but Chevys has always stood out for it's quality. Â For this event, the management and staff pulled out all the stops to impress, and they did! Â The food was flowing, the drinks kept coming, and service was always with a smile. Â We had a little trouble getting any attention when we first arrived, and one member of our group had to become proactive in seeking out food, but overall it was a good experience. Â My favorite things were the chicken flautas and beef skewers. Â Mmmm...meat! Â When the manager was told that a member of our group was vegetarian, he sent out special quesadilla for her. Â I've always been a fan of Chevy's chips and salsa, too. Â I am and have always been a fan of Chevy's and they have never let me down.
Review Source:Like it says...I've had better. Â We went during happy hour which is decent enough. Â Went on a Saturday late afternoon and ate in the bar. Â Chips and salsa were the highlight. Â Ordered Fajita Nachos that never came and 2 bowls of Chicken Tortilla soup (which was good had very little chicken in it)
Pros:
Chips and Salsa, ok enough happy hour prices (not great though), friendly service
Cons:
Beer wasn't that cold, server forgot one of our orders completely (I didn't need to eat the nachos so we never reminder her - nor should we have to - but I did when she brought the check :), service wasn't that prompt.
Decided we won't be back for a long time, to many other options in the area that have better happy hour prices and better food (and they may even remember to bring you your order).
This locations has other local Chevy's beat. From the service to the food this place is great. I ordered the largest plate that had Chicken, Shrimp, Steak and Carnitas long with Rice and Beans. It was way too much food for me to handle.
It was not so busy during the time we went but the server was very sweet and came over to check on us and refill our chips and drinks.
Afterward the manager happen to walk by and asked if everything was great. Who does that, so they won me over.
I hadn't been to Chevys in years but after having such a great experience at recent Yelp event at this location, I plan on making this place one of my regular dinner/happy hour spots. In fact, I stopped by again for dinner only two days after the event!
Even before we checked into the event  the customer service was awesome. We grabbed a couple of Mexican Bulldogs (margaritas with a coronas in them) from the bar and were immediately handed chips and salsa (they even gave us each our own salsa dish) During the event, we were able to try most of their apps and I have to say, while they were all super delicious, I was particularly impressed with the crab and shrimp taquitos and the beef skewers. Â
Not only is the customer service fantastic and the food delicious but happy hour is from 2-CLOSE (yes I am serious) and it includes $4 margaritas, $3 beers and lots of yummy appetizers!
After the yelp event at Chevy's Roseville...a few days our plus ones and grace and I along with my 2 kids and another friend ate at this location...we had vouchers and used it for our desired platter which was the trio of shrimp....chicken and beef....we all  decided to hang out after we ate because it was a reunion of our friendship...
you know we were actually all satisfied with our dinner...the staff was still serving us even after we paid our dinners with our vouchers and they did not ask us to leave...
we were actually kind of hesitant to ask for our free pound of chips and salsa...lol....so we were all like next time...but the staff was just that nice to us....i must've drank coca cola until my hearts content...lol...but will come back to eat there again....
Woohoo Chevys!
I know, I know, it's just Chevys. & it is just another example of a corporate chain casual dining restaurant. & no, I'm not particularly a fan of corporate chain casual dining restaurants, in general.
But, despite all that, I have to say that this Chevys in Rocklin really brought the goods big time. Albeit, I was there for a Yelp Elite Event & perhaps because of that they put forward their best performance, but their best performance was undeniably 5 stars.
Service from the entire staff was fast, efficient, friendly & totally on top of it. & the food? Hey, I got to try out a whole bunch of new food items that Chevys is considering adding to their menu like shrimp & crab flautas + all sorts of grilled meats on skewers. It was all excellent. If that stuff makes it to the regular menu, I will definitely be back for more.
& drinks too! I tried numerous flavors of Bulldog, basically a Margarita with a Coronita bottle flipped upside-down in it. I likey. I likey, a lot. There were watermelon, Midori & strawberry flavors, but I liked the traditional most.
Woohoo Chevys! Really! Service at this 1 in Rocklin was exceptional & there's new things coming to Chevys, so check it out.
If you're looking for a good night out, close to home, and and atmosphere that is all cantina - Chevy's is your place! Â The most welcoming atmosphere and staff along with some of the best, fresh Mexican food I've had. Â Chevy's has always been one of my favorite places to go, but my last experience makes me want to write about it and let everyone else know that they need to go to this place too.
The pillar of any good Mexican food place is their chips and salsa - the Chevy's salsa has a fresh, crisp taste - and they'll bring you the hot version if you so request. Â The chips are thin, light, airy, and have a light sprinkle of salt - I'd almost recommend Chevy's just for their chips and drinks if I didn't think the food was worth it - but it is!
You also need to get a Bulldog - it's a margarita (you can get it flavored) with a Caronita upside-down to provide the neat mix of fizzle and bubbly to what is already a great drink!
For the price, you'll get nothing better than Chevy's. Â I have some food recommendations: the shrimp and crab enchiladas are the best with the perfect topping - a habanero/pesto/cream sauce. I would also recommend the app of chicken taquitos... the best! Â
Food, service, and value - Chevy's is the trifecta of fresh-mex!
We came here with a party of 7 about three days after the YELP ELITE EVENT last Wednesday. Â We came in on the following Saturday.
The wait help was very nice and she refilled all our drinks all the time.  Our chips and salsa was always refilled.  They were good at letting us stay there for a long long while because our party was also a reunion.  Just a group of friends catching up and  just having long conversations.  Not one of staff members got upset.  They continued to help us and refilled our drinks.
All of us ordered the PLATO GRANDES. Â It was delicious and it was sizzling hot on an iron or steel plate. Â There was a lot of variety of foods to try with this dish. Â It's a good dish to have if you are kind of indecisive. Â
I had a great time. Â Great food. Â Great company and great service.
The food, as it always is at Chevy's was excellent. The flautas are quite possible the best appetizer food at any chain restaurant. The meat (chicken, beef, shrimp and crab) does not matter, any type is amazing. The skewers were cooked perfectly, the shrimp was not rubbery, and the steak was juicy and tore apart easily. Chevy's is definitely doing it right.
Now on to the beergaritas, beergaritas are great, they are obnoxiously big, incredibly fun, and cause everyone who doesn't have one to ask what they are and where to get one. Â The original margarita flavor was my favorite, the midori was my least favorite, but that does not mean it wasn't good, it just wasn't as good. The little contraption that holds the Corona (even though you could probably set a beer in the glass w/o it) was cool and worth buying as well. Now I'm on the hunt for some perfect margarita glasses.
Came here last night for the Yelp Elite event and it was amazing! The food was delicious, the service attentive and friendly and the drinks were out of this world. I have always been a Chevy's fan for their margaritas and chips and salsa, but some of their new menu items and their innovations will be bringing me in a lot more.
I am so curious to come back and try their new table top computers where you can order more food or drinks, facebook, look up movie times or play games. It's no secret that I am a trivia fanantic, so if one of the games is trivia it will be hard to get me to leave!
If you like margaritas and beer, try a Bull Dog, which is a margarita (any flavor) with a Coronita tipped into it! Yum! I don't even like beer and I was impressed by this. Also, if you like tequila try one of the El Jimador Red Palomas. Really delicious.
Food wise, the crab and shrimp flutas are tasty and super creamy, cheesy, melty. So good! The chicken toquitos were also really good. Try both of them dipped in the jalepeno jelly, the perfect balance of spice and sweet. The chicken, beef and shrimp are all wonderfully marinated and the chicken and beef are mesquite grilled. Just really really yummy!
We noticed that the 5th of every month is a Cinqo party where they have drink and food specials, including opening early with a $5 brunch. You can't beat that deal. THIS Sunday is a 5th...I know where we will be headed for brunch!
I don't remember the last time I was serviced by such a genuinely friendly, enthusiastic, insanely accommodating staff. There was always someone available to ask me how I was doing or get me something without having an overwhelming presence.
Their shrimp and chicken flautas are cheesy and juicy on the inside while maintaining a beautiful consistent crunch on the outside. The chicken flauta is lightly garnished with a touch of dill and that put it over the top for me. This dish was perfectly seasoned and the jalapeno jelly is icing on this delicious cake. Their chicken and shrimp skewers are great appetizers. Definitely have those with some beers.
If you love a mixed drink as much as the next person MAKE SURE YOU ORDER ONE OF THEIR BULLDOGS; you should specifically order their STRAWBERRY BULLDOG. You think it's a girly drink? SHUT UP. It's delicious and gets you going. It's essentially a margarita with a Corona in it. I can drink those all night and that's exactly what I did.
I had a wonderful experience eating and being catered to at Chevys Fresh Mex in Rocklin, CA. If you're in the area, love Tex-Mex food, or just love Chevys - YOU MUST COME HERE. The staff is incredible, the food is delicious, and the drinks do what every drink should do - make you feel like you're at a fiesta.
Thank you Chevys, Â Alex L., and Yelp for letting me experience a very unappreciated restaurant.
First of all, I didn't know there was a Chevy's in Rocklin. Â I frequent the location in Elk Grove a lot since it is only a half mile from my home. Â Occasionally, get to the one "on the river" but never in Rocklin. Â
I attended the Livin' La Vida Dos here last night and it was unbelievably fantastic! Â The service was impeccable and the food awesome as usual. Â The servers were friendly, happy, and definitely enjoying their job as they constantly replaced our empty margarita glasses with a new drink and cleaned our tables as we waited for the next tray of food to pass by. Â This location is excellent just off of Highway 65 at the Blue Oaks turnoff. Â It is a relatively new restaurant and it shows... Super clean restrooms, booths, tables, and reception area. Â I really enjoyed the Yelp event here and was very happy that I attended since it is a trek clear across Sacramento from my home. Â
Now I know of a place that I can dine if per chance I visit Thunder Valley Casino. Â Great food and service is something everyone wants and you will get it here in Rocklin at Chevys!!!
FOR YELP EVENT AND FOOD @ CHEVYS
Let me first start by saying... thank you... ROCKLIN CHEVYS for a super incredible night!!! No words can describe how I feel, but maybe this picture will:  <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fyelp%2F7701583536%2Fin%2Fset-72157630877288638%2F&s=14f260d47f8077d7279be5e8d92f386e71e1b98afdc003d16319b4605888fa7c" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.flickr.com/ph…</a>
Secondly, thank you Phil-Da-Photographer for seriously following my every-drinking-move. Very well documented night! (especially towards the end... it went down alright!!!) 5 stars!
Enough said, let's get to the real deal!
(1) SERVICE: WOW, WOW, WOAH! BEST SERVICE EVER! Even tops Gary Danko's service! Super cool servers! Came around and bought us food... and more food... and drinks... and more drinks. Man! I didn't even have to ask... they are MIND-BLOWING-READERS! WOW! They read my facial expression (more food, more drinks, yeahhh!) Â I would love to give a shout-out to a few people, but I lost my notes! I had all these cool servers on my misplaced list. Sorry guys! And for amazing-service ... 5 stars and beyond!
(2) FOOD:
(i) Nachos-and-dip: dude, for realz? Thin and crispy... just the way I like it! 5 stars!
(ii) Chicken-on-a-stick: ... and with the mango chunks. 5 stars!
(iii) Beef-on-a-stick: Juicy! Juicy! Juicy! This is my favorite!!!!!! Can't figure out what this is called... someone tell me please? I'm definitely coming back... just for these! 5 stars!
(iv) Shrimp-on-a-stick: loveee it too! 5 stars!
(3) DRINKS:
(i) Bulldog Margaritas: my two favorites... strawberry and watermelon! This is the coolest thing ever!!! It was like a margarita with extra beer-booze! Man, I'm going to do that for all my drinks from now on out! Forget double-fisting! It's now quadruple-fisting! Yeahh!!!
(ii) SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS! Lots of shots with cool people... made my night... and of course, the two amazing drink pourer girls... they kept on pouring!
**OVERALL: ROCKLIN CHEVYS ... INCREDIBLE PEOPLE, FOOD , AND ESPECIALLY... SERVICE! 5 STARS AND BEYOND!
Thank you Chevys for hosting the yelp event! You guys were awesome. Spectacular service! You guys were happily refilling our drinks and taking away our empty glasses. Our table was constantly fed with delicious crab and shrimp flatuas. They were crispy on the outside and melted in my mouth right after that. BBQ steak skewers were tender and chewey, and shrimp skewers were well marinated! I could taste everything with just a lick of it.
Drinks: bulldogs were just as good as the last yelp event at the river. This time, I got the chance to try the midori and strawberry versions, which were just as tasty because I drank them all! You really can't go wrong with any of these.
In the end, it seemed like everybody had fun. Great service and fun servers who like to party with yelpers make everything so much more enjoyable. Keep up the good work and have fun with all your customers!
Not just another Chevys - these people know how to make you feel at home. I came here as part of a Yelp event, but I've also eaten here before way back when they opened. Private party or no private party, the service is attentive and exceptional.
I could go on and on about how I feel they have the best food out there as far as "chain" Mexican restaurants are concerned (sorry Chili's), with amazing tacos, comically over-sized margaritas, addictive margaritas and beef, shrimp and chicken flautas so filled with flavor you wonder if they use flavor-enhancing drugs. But the service...I feel so pampered here. On my last visit, a lvoely and beautiful waitress named Victoria gave me and my friends special attention and chatted with us. SO nice, she left to fast.
I'll be telling everyone about this location off the beaten path in hopes of giving them all the attention they deserve.
Loved it - First time to a Chevys in probably 10 years. Had Carnita Tacos. Very good.
The waitress was great and the bathrooms were clean. Can't ask for anything more.
Oh yeah - they have the coolest new thing. Interactive tablets on every table. You can order drinks and appetizers right from the tablet. You can also check the weather, movie showtimes and for 99 cents let the kids play games. Believe it or not its worth the 99 cents. Oh, and you can also watch the movie trailers while you are trying to pick a movie to go to.
Chevys was awesome.
We originally wanted to go to Lucille's but it was packed, but since I can never get Chili's and Chevy's straight, we ended up at Chevy's (I quickly realized I really wanted Chili'). Â Ok first, it's Chevy's don't expect authentic Mexican food. Â I got the chicken tortilla soup which I didn't like on appearance, but I actually liked it once I gave it a try. Â Husband got the carnitas, which I wish I got, they were good. Â My tacos on the other hand left much to be desired. Â
They had a guy there making balloon animals for the kids, which is a great idea at first, till you realize this guy is standing there making balloon animals at your table while you eat, a bit uncomfortable for my liking.
We came during the happy hour on a Thursday around 6 and sat in the bar area. They have the Watermelon Margarita blended and on the rocks. My girl friend and I ordered them blended. Delicious! It does not have the concentrated taste as the use real watermelon. Best part about it was that it was only three dollars!
Meanwhile, they give you some salsa and chips which was also very delectable. Â
Â
We started getting hungry and so we ordered the 11.99 three course dinner. I ordered the salad with the chipotle-apple dressing. If you like your salads sweet, this would be the dressing for you. For my entree that offers a choice of two, I ordered the beef and cheese tamale and the crispy chicken flautas. The beef and cheese tamale is okay, nothing special. The crispy chicken flautas on the other hand, is finger licking good. It comes with this sweet and sour sauce on the side where you can dip your crunchy-shelled flauta. The meal came with rice and choice of beans. Both came out as somewhat bland. Â
Overall, service is great! Drinks are great! Food is okay-good.
I enjoy many things at this restaurant --- Spanish music and food, especially their chips and salsa that they put on your table right when you sit down. I always get either their Crab and shrimp enchiladas, or Chipotle chicken enchiladas. No joke, I love it! Then again, that's just my opinion, but it is definitely a must try.
The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that it absolutely has THE most horrible customer service (cough....like Blue Nami). The times I come here, there are about 4-5 hostesses talking and chillin. They stare at me for a whole 20 seconds and then talk some more until one of them actually decides to do their job.
When I went here for dinner, my party and I decided to eat in the patio because it was delightful outside. I was afraid that whoever our server was forgot about us, but about 5 minutes later she finally came and asked us for our drinks. Then blah, blah, blah.... our foods came out and she didn't bother checking up on us until we were already all done eating. Let me tell you, she did not get a good tip.
Besides the most atrocious customer service, I love their foods!
I am not sure why I continue to come back here when I am never really thrilled with the service.
We went in on Christmas eve for lunch and our waiter barely came around. Â The tacos I ordered were really spicy which I didn't expect and my water glass stayed empty due to our missing server. Â Should I mention there was only one other table around that afternoon?
Last week we went again for a fundraiser for my kids school. Â We arrived around 4:45pm to beat the rush and again the restaurant was not very busy. Â This time our waiter was very friendly and answered some of my questions. Â I ordered one of the specials and it was good, but once again after the food was delivered the waiter was MIA. Â What is that about?! Â What if something is wrong or I need a drink refill? Â Apparently the servers here do not care about that, or getting you your check in a timely matter. Â We were finally able to pay and get out of there. Â Overall I really think Chevy's is overpriced for mexican food - especially since it is not authentic. Â Man, I cannot wait till I go across the border again for some taco stand tacos.
I will not be coming here again. Ever. What a waste of money. Â
There was food ALL over the floor, which no one attempted to clean up the entire time we were there. Â The bathrooms were disgusting and with trash all over the floors. Â
Now on to the food. Â The chicken flautas were good, but my chile relleno was gross. Â I am not a very picky person usually, but it was so soggy I only ate part of it and had to stop.
Overall, the food sucked, the atmosphere sucked, and the service sucked.
This is pretty much the ONLY Chevy's I go to anymore. It's one of the newer locations in town.
The cantina is nice and big, and always filled with people. My favorite bartender is Franklin, and he pours with a heavy hand!
The dining area is HUGE, and perfect for large parties etc.
The food is typical Chevy's tex-mex. If you want authentic Mexican food, you know better than to go here. Go to a hole in the wall people!
If you want trendy, but tasty Mexican food with an American twist, then come here!
Their beans ala charra, and chips and salsa are always made fresh constantly. Also, visit El Machino to watch fresh tortillas being made. (great for kids, as they also give the kids dough to play with!)
Can you say HaPpY hOuR !!!!!!
Let me start by saying I am normally not  a fan of chain restaurants or Chevy's for that matter, BUT their Happy Hour menu is irresistible:  $3 margarita's and $3 Appetizers !  Are you serious I can come here eat, get drunk for about $12.  Where else can you do that, honestly?  Plus its from 4-7pm, 3 hours!.  Who else has a 3 hour Happy Hour Mon-Fri at EVERY location.
I am quit a regular here, at this location only.  Simply because there is a good crowd, a younger crowd too for that matter, the venue itself is new, I always see someone I know, and the staff are super nice!  Do expect it to be packed, the only place to enjoy these great prices is in the bar area, so expect to have to stand around and wait for people to get up so you can swipe their spot, especially if it is Friday.
 Enjoy !
This is the new Chevy's restaurant located on the quickly forming restaurant row in the newer part of Rocklin. Â I hadn't dined at a Chevy's in years so I was keen to see how things are going as they continue to expand in locations.
My party of two were seated quickly in a booth in the bar area. Â Service took quite a while (more than ten minutes) to come to our table and take drink orders. Â Shortly after chips arrived and i recalled how a local magazine rated them as having the best fresh tortilla chips around. Â I must say they were darn good. Â Crisp, light, thin and not at all greasy. Â Salsa was decent but nothing to rave about.
After drinks came, I had to request menus. Â Realizing their mistake they were delivered promptly. Â I ordered a three item combo of flautas, a taco and a tamale. Â The flautas were crisp and unique and served with a pepper/jelly dipping sauce on the side that was really good. Â I could see some family recipes and non-traditional items have remained and were shining through. Â The taco was decent although the chunks of chicken were too big and ended up leaving the last two bites without chicken. Â The tamale was also medium fair and seemed to be quite undersized as compared to traditional sizes. Service throughout the meal was slow on refils and seem a bit uncaring.
The decor of the place is nice, wide and airy. Â Better food items are sure to be discovered which will most likely result in my returning. Â Service maybe better in off-peak hours but it shouldn't and the tortilla chips make the new Chevy's worth a visit at least once.
