Some people are saying that you have to grow up here to appreciate the pizza. Â This is not true. Â There are several high points with "The Dough". The first thing is the sauce. It is what makes this pizza so good. It is slightly sweet yet nice and tomatoey. Is that a word? The next thing is the Ranch dressing. My wife and I both agree that their's is the best Ranch dressing in Kankakee. The service and the owner are top notch. The owner seems to almost always be there during the lunch buffet and he is going to make sure you are going to be taken care of. Overall, I consider "The Dough" to be one of my top 3 pizzas in Kankakee County.
Review Source:Just went to Chicago Dough for a lovely pizza buffet run with mi familia last week. Since I haven't reviewed since 2011, I gotta give them some love again. Other reviewers may be accurate in that you only, truly appreciate Chicago Dough if you grew up with it. Maybe they're dead on, but I grew up with it so that explains it. Although, my husband never had it until he started dating me and he likes it a lot too - although he doesn't have a sick obsession with it like I do.
The pizza buffet is always the way to go. You can go 11-1 for lunch during the week or on Tuesday nights. They also have it on special occasions like Mom's & Dad's Day and some other random holidays. The pizza buffet includes a decent salad bar, pasta, pizza and my brand new discovery: dessert pizza. Can you believe I've been eating here for 15+ years and I never had their dessert pizza? I want to get back all of that time we (me and the dessert pizza) lost. I told my mom that I wanted to trade in my husband for the scrumptious apple pizza and of course, as moms do, she went and told everyone in the restaurant. I was half kidding, half serious because the dessert pizza WAS that good.
Our waiter was great and put up with my overly embarrassing family with a big smile while I tried to crawl beneath the floor boards to escape. Â The service is one of the best things about this joint. Never had a bad experience here!
Went on a Tuesday, excited to test out the Chicago deep dish. Â When we arrived we found out that it was buffet night. Â Of course, we got the buffet! Â Pizza was excellent and salad bar had plenty of sides. Â The only thing I would have liked to see different is there wasn't any signature "Chicago style" deep dish on the buffet. Â Other than that, I would like to come back another night to try the deep dish.
