I came home to MD for the holidays... Â One thing i miss from home is the blue crab... Living in Vegas,, i have had blue crab here but its nothing like being home.... i have been to chops in Manor Shopping Center... Â I have had the MD crab soup, the Maryland style crabcakes and a Suffed orange roughy with crab topped with Imperial Sauce... Â Let me say that all 3 selections were really really good... The soup was delicious nice flavor and good amount of crab.... The crab cakes are the best i have had in a long long time and will be the benchmark on what i judge a crab cake by... The stuffed orange roughy,, OMG was to die for,, it was over stuffed with crab and the Imperial sauce was really good... Â It really is memorable and i will remember it for a long long time... The staff is very friendly and attentive... If you are in the area,, stop by here,, you will not be disappointed... Golf Clap for Chops... Hope this yelps...
Review Source:Nick,You took the words out of my mouth ' over priced' I had the fish that night and could not tell if it was frozen or fresh and not in a good way. Blah. The salad was good and dressing not homemade.I will go back and try something else. The bar was loud but they had more people in the bar and only 4 in restaurant so I am sure the business is in the bar.
Review Source:Finally a bar in Phoenix! This location has switched hands more times than I can remember but looks like chops is here to stay. Although they may be trying to take on more then they can chew, chops is a nice, clean strip mall joint with a decent menu. Good place to watch a game since there are big screens in the dinning area. The menu is standard American and a bit overpriced.
Review Source:I hadn't stopped in here since I had a miserable meal when it was Henry's. I met a friend of mine for lunch since we both live nearby and wanted to check it out. There are two entrances, one in the front, facing the parking lot, and the traditional one on the side. I went in through the side door (which opens into the bar). They still have some some slightly disturbing pictures that were there when it was Henry's. Hmmm. Â The service was pleasant, the pineapple juice was fresh. I ordered the veggie spring rolls and a crab cake sandwich with fries. The spring rolls were tasty, the dipping sauce was good (I ordered this since Jimmy S. mentioned them in his review). The crab cake had lumps of meat on the outside, but I swear it had canned tuna fish on the inside. It tasted like tuna fish, looked like tuna fish and my hands smelled like tuna fish when I finished it. The fries were thick and heavily salted (although the grains of salt are large so I could brush it off more easily). My friend got a shrimp salad sandwich and really enjoyed it. I am always nervous to order shrimp salad since that is the last refuge of day old shrimp, but it appeared to be satisfying. In closing, two recs, veggie spring rolls and shrimp salad sandwich.
Review Source:At 6pm Wednesday four of us sat down for dinner at this newly open Chop's, formally Henry's Bistro. The wait staff was prompt with the bread/crackers/butter basket. We started out with two appetizers. The Phoenix Shrimp, 5 shrimp each wrapped with bacon and around a water chestnut, and the Vegetarian Spring Roll Served with a sweet chili sauce, 3 pieces with a slightly sweet non spicy sauce. Both were served with a pile of mixed greens for garnish and were tasty. We order a bottle of Malbec ($21), no half price bottle nights at this time.  For entrées we ordered the Rib Eye Steak, Pork Chops, Chesapeake Chicken and the Fried Chicken Breast. Each came with a choice of two sides. Among us we had the fired potatoes, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, chuck wagon corn, broccoli, and lobster macaroni and cheese. None of which elicited any raves. Same can be said for the entrées. We were never offered desert, but someone did order a cup of coffee. Serve was good considering how crowed to became. Into our meal every table was taken. No twenty something's or children this night and when we left the separate bar area was filled. The televisions in the dining area (thankfully no sound) are something I can live without. The crow seemed to be having an enjoyable evening. As to the food; nothing stood out. It was noted that the Chesapeake Chicken was describe as topped with lump crab meat, but came stuffed with regular crab meat. In all we thought none of the dishes were freshly prepared from fresh ingredients. They were presented nicely and cooked properly. Our bill came to $113. I will go back and try more dishes.
