Five

First of all, this place is known for its great martini list and it delivers! Lots of choices, lots of unique martini combinations, I am sure there is something for everyone. But the choices don't end there: lots of beer on tap and bottled, and a nice wine selection (like I said, something for everyone). Five has daily food specials in the bar for happy hour, and also has a full menu from its sister restaurant (next door) Christopher Daniel. The food is consistent and tasty, we especially like the flatbread pizzas (enough to share). Five is a nice spot for an after-work drink and a snack, so why not give it a shot?

Worst. Bar.  Ever.  Went in there Wednesday night after running into a friend at the gym.  We wanted some dinner and drinks and it was convenient.  Plus, been wanting to check it out for a while.  Pretty sad when you walk out of a place hungry and thirsty, huh?  But that's exactly what happened.  The bar wasn't crowded either - especially considering it was the night before Thanksgiving, a notoriously busy day in the industry.  Rather, we were there early (6:45-8:30ish) and, while all the seats were filled, it wasn't packed.  

The server who took our order?  Never saw him again.  And despite having asked for bread not once, but twice (we ordered dinner), we never got it.  I actually wanted to order a second appetizer but we couldn't get anyone's attention to do so.  So, our empty plates and empty martini glasses and empty water glasses just sat there and sat there.  Our table was right next to the bar entrance too so there was a steady stream of wait staff bustling by - all of which conveniently ignored us.  Finally, a waitress stopped and asked if she could bring us the check.  No - "Can I get you something else?"  No - "Can I refill your water glass?" (Which should happen without asking, regardless).  Heck no.  When I said to her that I would have liked to have ordered something else a half hour ago, she haughtily replied "Can't you see we're busy?"  Really?  Would you like a side of attitude with your meal?

The drinks were overpriced and mediocre at best (waiter spilled half of my martini on his five foot walk to our table but didn't offer to fill it).  Still charged me full price for it though.

I ordered the large Caesar salad, got the small.  Ordered bread twice, never got it.  Etc., etc.  The presentation was lame, at best too.  The lobster mac and cheese that I got came in a tiny bowl placed on a large rectangular platter.  No garnish.  No sides.  No nuttin.  Visually, any normal chef would have cringed to see that come out of his/her kitchen.

I tried to talk to the manager on my way out the door but she couldn't have been less interested in what I had to say.  She offered no apologies - although even she admitted that they weren't busy.  

Rest assured that I won't be wasting my hard earned cents in this establishment ever again!  There are too many decent (notice I say "decent") places within a fiVe mile radius who would be happy to serve me - and with more class.

I like Five. They have a nice selection of martinis and a selection of other drinks as well. I haven't tried the food, but I wouldn't be opposed to the option. It is a tiny bar in comparison to many, but the size is nice. It makes for a nice evening place. I've never been much on bars in strip malls, yet I like this place.
