Davis is seriously lacking in diners, especially for a college town. Â The black bear downtown is pretty nasty. Â My coworker who went to Davis for undergrad took me here for lunch.
So the bad parts about this place is the location which is kinda far from downtown/campus, and maybe the decor if you care about decor in a diner(read:you shouldn't, dummy =)
Anyway, the good parts about this place is the food, price, and service, which is what you want in a diner. Â I've had the country breakfast(biscuits and gravy), the skillets and the omelets and they're all solid. Â Nothing crazy, but they do the little things right, like sear the home fries so they're crispy, bring tasty salsa with everything without asking, don't skimp on bacon/chorizo/tasty portion of the dish, etc. Â I've only had Thai there once so I can only say the pad see ewe is good, but most of the people who I've spoken to about the thai food really like it. Â On top of that the owner is really friendly which is nice.
There's also a tv and there were a couple guys in there catching the game, just an fyi.
So overall, if you're looking for a diner in Davis this place is definitely the best of all your options, it's really just a solid diner, nothing crazy. Â I would like it if they were open 24/7 though.
Cindy, Cindy, Cindy... what is Marcia to do?
This sweet little 'old school restaurant was a fixture in South Davis. Then the owners changed and along with the great American breakfasts came Thai dinners. Food is good, easy on and off the freeway and not a bad place to get a meal. Breakfast on the weekends can be crowded, dinners anytime...not too crowded.
