Davis is seriously lacking in diners, especially for a college town.  The black bear downtown is pretty nasty.  My coworker who went to Davis for undergrad took me here for lunch.

So the bad parts about this place is the location which is kinda far from downtown/campus, and maybe the decor if you care about decor in a diner(read:you shouldn't, dummy =)

Anyway, the good parts about this place is the food, price, and service, which is what you want in a diner.  I've had the country breakfast(biscuits and gravy), the skillets and the omelets and they're all solid.  Nothing crazy, but they do the little things right, like sear the home fries so they're crispy, bring tasty salsa with everything without asking, don't skimp on bacon/chorizo/tasty portion of the dish, etc.  I've only had Thai there once so I can only say the pad see ewe is good, but most of the people who I've spoken to about the thai food really like it.  On top of that the owner is really friendly which is nice.

There's also a tv and there were a couple guys in there catching the game, just an fyi.

So overall, if you're looking for a diner in Davis this place is definitely the best of all your options, it's really just a solid diner, nothing crazy.  I would like it if they were open 24/7 though.

Cindy, Cindy, Cindy... what is Marcia to do?
This sweet little 'old school restaurant was a fixture in South Davis. Then the owners changed and along with the great American breakfasts came Thai dinners. Food is good, easy on and off the freeway and not a bad place to get a meal. Breakfast on the weekends can be crowded, dinners anytime...not too crowded.

Slow service, errors in orders and on the bill.  Also, the music doesn't match the atmosphere.  At least the parking was easy.

Wouldn't come back unless with friends.

Came here with a few friends on a Thursday morning. I found out that they serve American food during breakfast/lunch hours and thai food lunch/dinner hours. So basically this place is a two in one place.

I decided to order a breakfast item and I got The Works. I had avocado, mushrooms, onions, kielbasa, chicken, and tomato in it. Also served with toast. My meal came out to be about 11 something. I wouldn't say it was worth it just because the portion size wasn't that big but it definitely made me full because I don't tend to eat a lot in the morning anyways.

Some of my friends ordered from the thai menu and they didn't enjoy their meal at all. They definitely had better thai food before.

It is what it is, I suppose.  Go for breakfast food and get breakfast food.  The pancakes are great, the french toast... well, not so much.  Stick to eggs etc and you'll get what you were looking for.

I think the dual restaurant thing is super confusing.  To be honest, I'm not sure why they bother with the thai concept for dinner.  The thai food market is beyond over crowded in Davis and there's isn't all that great...

This is a funny place. Half diner, half thai restaurant. Both cuisines are surprisingly good!

As a diner, this place attracts a lot of old timers and regulars. They actually have hand sketched pictures of all their early morning regulars next to the cash register. When i asked about the picture, the cashier actually pointed to one of the customers at the corner and said, "see that guy right there? hes this guy on the picture right here! it looks just like him huh!"

As a Thai restaurant, what i like about this place is that all of the dishes can be transformed into vegetarian dishes with imitation meat! The imitation duck is amazing (obviously nothing like real duck but pretty good still).

Definitely come check this place out! and dont forget to ask about the pictures next to the cash register!

Anyone that knows me knows that I don't like breakfast. Yes, even bacon. So when a big group of friends wanted to grab brunch, I crossed my fingers that there would be something that I could eat.

Luck was on my side. There was something called the Hawaiian, which was basically a sourdough sandwich with ham, scrambled eggs, and pineapples.

The food came fairly quickly and was piping hot. My french fries as a side were delicious, as was my sandwich, even though the bread was a little soggy.

Overall, a good place to grab a bite with some friends, even if you don't like breakfast!

Thai, Thai, and more Thai. I feel like that sums up Davis's dining options. Oh, or pizza! If you're going to go for Thai option though, Cindy's is definitely the place to go. The food is delicious, the owner is always present and hospitable, and the service, quick and friendly. The breakfast menu is on par as well. Stop by for a bite and a Thai beer (unless you were the creepy guy harassing the server last time I was there. You, sir,  can go play in traffic) !

Don't judge this place by the outside, it's actually really good! And don't get confused by the Thai category it's in! Along with serving breakfast all day, Cindy's also converts into a Thai restaurant at night.

The staff was super friendly, very quick, and very hardworking.  The meal I had, chicken-fried steak with hashed browns, was so good! It was a big portion, I'm still stuffed from it 4 hours later.  Everything was tasty and delicious.

It was a pretty noisy in the restaurant, but it's a diner, what do you expect?! If it wasn't for the Groupon we (my sister and I) had we wouldn't have gone, but now that we've gone, we'll definitely come back.

I've been here many times, not b/c it's close to my house, but b/c if I want a good ol' American breakfast this is the place to go. They have lots of variety, but I usually get the corn beef and hash.

They have also turned dinner into a thai menu, which is actually pretty good. You wouln't think it, but it's actually better than some of the other thai places I have been in Davis. I really, and always get the Pad Thai, it's simple, and always tastes good.

The service is great, they're always happy, and make you feel at home.

I will definitely go back here.

Pretty good portions! Service was very nice and prompt as well. Pluses!

Their Thai food is pretty good, though the Pad Thai is a little too sweet for me. Almost like Thai Canteen except Canteen's is like candy almost.

Anyways, it comes out hot, delicious, with good veggies, and the chicken-shrimp combo is the same price as if you just did chicken.

BOTTOMLESS THAI ICED TEA!!! Gotta love that. It isn't as sweet as other places might have it, but-- UNLIMITED; how great is that.

4/5 just because the bottomless is great. Otherwise, I've definitely had better Thai though I suppose in Davis, it's one of the better restaurants.

(Copied from my Kow Thai Restaurant review since they're the same thing.)

A Thai Place called Cindy's Restaurant (aka Thai Dynamite) -- why did I not see the bad tasting food coming. I wanted to believe all the great reviews of this place but I was beyond disappointed. I think I ordered the Pad Thai and another seafood dish. I could not even eat a quarter portion. The dishes are so saucy/wet. We ended up revamping the dishes the next day because I did not want to waste so much food. In comparison to the other dishes the Drunken Noodles were acceptable.

    What I recommend:

High-tail it out of here and go to another Thai restaurant

This really a great thai place. From the outside you would never guess it was a thai restaurant  cause it looks like a hippie diner haha. I went with MR. DERICK F. haha you can see his review! too

let's get on to it shall we?

Food me and my friend had the pad se ew, pad ke mao, and the thai dumplings. we each got a thai ice tea too

thai dumplings looked like and tasted like shumai from dimsum but came with soy sauce that tastes like the soy sauce for pot stickers. they were pretty good a little salty

pad se ew was good, good sized serving, i had left overs! but it was a tiny bit too sweet. i asked for extra egg and they gave it to me no charge. the beef in it also wasn't over cooked. and the american broccoli tasted really good

thai iced tea UNLIMITED REFILLS! the waitress just kept coming and refilling so nice! but it was kinda too sweet too lol.

SERVICE okies sooo like they are super friendly but almost in a creepy kinda way O_O lol and the waitress kinda pushed us to get the dumplings.

BUT i forgot my camera at the restaurant and they were so nice in helping me to get it back so yeah! hat's off to them. they even joke around with you and give you great directions over the phone how to get to them if you are lost. hmm I ORIGINALLY WAS GONNA GIVE THEM 4 STARS I THINK ILL BUMP IT UP FOR THE SERVICE AND GOOD PRICES.

ps. thanks DERICK FOR  DINNER =)

A couple of my friends and I decided to grab brunch at a restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and we would have been sorely disappointed were it not for the biscuits and gravy here. Imagine yourself at Denny's with a plate of traditional breakfast foods (sausage, eggs, hashed browns, etc.). Now take away some of the food and increase the price! For the $7-8 you spend on a plate here, you could definitely get more bang for your buck at your local IHOP or Denny's.

Though I was unpleasantly surprised at the portions for the breakfast foods, I was very pleased with the biscuits. Each side of biscuit and gravy comes with two halves that are each bigger than the size of a whole KFC biscuit. It was drenched with a delicious white gravy that was generously sprinkled with pieces of bacon and even chunks of sausage, and all for just a couple of bucks! If it weren't for the biscuits, I definitely would have left this restaurant still feeling hungry. If I was to return, I'd just order the side and skip over the breakfast dishes completely.

All my Davis friend's say that there's something in the water up there and after going here I have to believe them. I went here with one of my friends in Davis, The ambiance here is kind of weird like something out of the twilight zone. Inside it's reminiscent of a Diner like Mr. Perry's stained wood motif.

We order the dumplings as an appetizer and that was tasty and kinda like Chinese Shu mai. I order Pad kee mao and my friend order some other noodle dish. We both had Thai Ice tea because of the unlimited refills!!! (nice)

The food was tasty and is one of the better places I've eaten Thai food at.

Now the service well that was kind of unusual. The service wasn't bad actually far from it. However our service seemed unusually happy which I though was kinda weird, but she was very nice. Maybe it's something in the water over there...

Normally I would be done with this review and given them 4 stars for solid service and good food. However my friend lost her camera and after calling me she called the Restaurant and they found it and held it for her to pick up the next day.

So overall I'd recommend this place the food is tasty the service is good and abnormally happy heh.

Good place to stop en route to or from Tahoe, as it's right off the freeway, and much easier to get to and stop at than Downtown Davis.

In the evenings, they serve Thai food only; that's what we had.

It was pretty well done, and inexpensive; try their rice noodle dishes or their house specials.

Free refills on the Thai ice teas were a nice touch, as was their concern and willingness to be accommodating to the person in our group who couldn't have any gluten.

    I'll be back.

Cindy's is easily the best diner food in Davis. Even after moving to the Mecca of greasy breakfast places (Sacramento) I still find myself craving a glorious #3 skillet from Cindy's. During my college years I spent many hungover morning afters here, gorging myself on fried goodness.

If you're feeling super greedy, go for the Monte Cristo. But make sure you have a comfortable couch waiting for you at home, and about 3 hours set aside to lay on it.

    :3.5:
This morning, my dh, sister and I went to Ikedas around 10am only to find out that they didn't have any pies and that they would have a delivery between 11a and noon.  We had some time to kill after we dropped off my sis at work, so we asked her coworkers for breakfast suggestions. Cindy's was on top of their list, so we decided to check it out..

This place has a lot of character and definitely has the look of a breakfast type kind of establishment, so in my opinion, eating Thai food there would feel a little out of place, but that's me...

We were seated immediately and there was quite a lot of customers in there. Service was pretty good and our food came out pretty quickly.  I ordered an egg white omelette with mushrooms, spinach and onions with their house potatoes.  My DH ordered 2 bacon, 2 eggs and homefries (or were they called house potatoes?).  Anyways, I thought my omelette was made perfectly (I've had my egg white omelettes made a little runny/wet to even with yolk *gasp*), even the proportion of mushroom/spinach/onions were spot on!    I really enjoyed it.  House potatoes I thought were very yummy as well!  However, my husband said his bacon was too salty, even though they looked crispy (just the way we like them cooked).  Portions were a little on the smaller side, but may be I'm used to getting over the top portions at the breakfast establishments I've eaten at.  May be their portion is better for my waistline.

    I'll be back!

*note to self - didn't try their coffee since I brought my travel mug with Peet's**

I loved Thai Dynamite here at night. I got my default Thai dish, Pad See Ew. It was sooo good, super flavorful and yummy. It was a bit strange at first eating Thai food in a diner setting but I got over that as soon as the food arrived. It was THAT good.

I've never been to Cindy's for breakfast before though, so I can't really say anything about how it is during the day.

I learned about Cindy's through a friend who grew up in Davis. She described it as hole in the wall and being mom and pop. That's cool, I'm all for that because eateries in those categories usually have some kind of novelty about them that keeps people coming back. Unfortunately, when it was all said and done, I wasn't really impressed.

We came in on a Sunday morning after a long night of partying. I was hoping I could find something to ease the pounding headache I had. The restaurant does have a throwback diner look to it. You know, something you would find off the highway on some long journey across country? Coincidently, the location is situated off the freeway. We were all seated, given menus, and I looked the thing over. Reminded me of a non-chain Denny's. I looked over the menu and I ordered a omelet of some sort, I can't recall it by name but I did upload a picture of it.

We sat and waited for a bit, talking about the night before, planning out the rest of our day. The establishment had that typical background buzzing with the patrons talking, parents trying to feed their kids, waitresses pouring people more coffee, and old people enjoying their Sunday in a place they've been going since they were kids when they didn't use to have television or computers.

The food came out and it looked good. I had some toast with it. In terms of taste, it was fine. It was eggs, vegetables, and I think some potatoes. Nothing I went crazy about or told all my friends about. If I do remember anything, I felt the portion was a little small. Maybe that's expected of hole in the wall, but I could've just gone to Denny's or something and got a Grand Slam in my pants. My friend didn't finish her food, so she told me to eat it, which I did semi-reluctantly because I she ordered pancakes and I didn't feel like eating that.

We paid, we left, and I personally haven't been back since. I think it's weird that they're a part-time Thai restaurant now. Maybe that food is more remarkable and worth more stars.

There's just something about Thai restaurants and Davis. Good Thai restaurants, that is!

To be honest, the food at this restaurant reminds me a lot of Thai Bistro, which was really good as well.

I don't really go with pad thai when it come to ordering food, but I'm more of the curry person. Yellow, red, green - you name it! Also, when I'm stuck in a rut, I never fail to ask the server what his suggestion is. The server suggested the yellow curry, and that thing was absolutely delicious. First bite and it got me sucked in like a sucker fish. Oh, and when I asked for more rice, it was complementary and we didn't get charged extra!

The thing that caught me by surprise was the fried banana dessert with coconut ice cream. At Cindy's, it was real coconut ice cream, and the presentation was quite impressive. It tasted as good as it looked!

I was very satisfied after eating here. The pricing is a little more on the expensive side for a college student's budget, but once in a while it's okay to treat yourself out to some delicious Thai food!

I've gotten the chance to come recently and noticed that they've added a Thai restaurant--known and Thai Dynamite.  This update is for the Thai portion of the restaurant.

I ordered the chicken curry and it was alright.  I've had better in Davis.  It was filled with veggies but it was just lacking flavor.

The owners have an interesting concept of keeping it a diner in the afternoon but turning it into a Thai restaurant at night.  I don't think I'll be back for the Thai food sadly.

    Review for Thai Dynamite only:

Saw the great Yelp reviews for Thai Dynamite and thought I'd check it out, seeing as I still hadn't gone to the grocery store to buy food.
I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and empress rolls, which is a fancy name for the fresh spring rolls done in rice wraps without any meat. The pad Thai seemed too dry but had good flavor and didn't have any onions in it, per my request. As for the dish being dry, I'm thinking it's just me, because every time I have pad Thai I think "why is this so dry?" The empress rolls were excellent: good fresh veggies wrapped happily in see-through rice wrap thingys, served with a yummy slightly spicy peanut sauce for dipping.

Great service that was fast, though I might have been giving off the impatient vibe because the server kept apologizing for it taking a long time. Large portions so plenty for 2-3 meals if you don't overdo it.

Came here on a Saturday morning for brunch.  Walking in, I was immediately happy to see the diner-like atmosphere that seems to be missing in Davis.  This set my hopes really high, but unfortunately the food fell a bit short.

I had the chicken fried steak (CFS) with hashbrowns, eggs, and white toast.  The food came out in like 5 minutes, which had me worried already.  The hashbrowns and eggs were pretty good, but the CFS and the toast weren't great.

Seriously, how do you mess up on toast?  There was something very cardboard-like about their toast that I don't get even making my own toast at home.  It was as if they gave me pre-prepared toast that has been sitting for 30 minutes.

The CFS, like many other poor CFS's, had very little flavor unless dripping with the white gravy.  The crust was a bit too floury.  The meat itself was tender, but given how thin they cut the steak, I cannot add that as a plus.  I would argue that Denny's and IHOP (especially IHOP) have much better CFS than Cindy's.

My friend had the french toast, which I got to try.  It was pretty good, though mostly standard fare.

If the toast weren't awful, I'd consider giving them a second try.  But to mess up on something as simple as toast tells me that they're not all that concerned about quality.  Meh.

Finally came and tried breakfast at Cindy's. I'm so, so glad I did! The food is AMAZING.

I ordered the Hobo omelet just so I could compare it to Black Bear Diner. Here, the ingredients were all mixed into the egg so it was distributed very well, where as ingredients at Black Bear Diner were thrown into the center of the omelet. There was no excess oil here, which is perfect. Hashbrowns were delicious, also. We also ordered the biscuits with gravy. Definitely a must try!

Prices are great. We ordered 2 breakfast entrees and 2 biscuits w/ gravy to share. It came out to around $12 a person.

Service is excellent and very, very helpful. My housemate had a lot of questions about her order and our waitress answered them all very nicely and patiently.

Cindy's + Thai Dynamite just a block from my apartment?? I just might come here regularly.

Great place for Sunday diner grub and now apparently a thai place by night?!

Tried this place on Picnic Day - Generous portions and good service - my water glass was never empty. We tried some thai staples at first, including green and red curry and a variety of noodles. my pad see yew was sweet but not overpowering and flat noodles perfectly cooked.

notables: funny enough the last dish to come for our table of 7 was the pineapple fried rice, which looked great, and the big rock candy mountain (no candy) of pad thai on my friend mike's plate. cool place for groups although i wish you could move the tables and chairs closer together (they're fixed to the ground). we'll be back!

    BONUS QUIZ:

how do you pronounce the road this place sits on?

    1) chilis (like the restaurant)
    2) che-les (like the country)
    3) chiles (like ooh 'chile' things are gonna get easier)

    Wow. In Davis? No.....

Actually, YES! You CAN find BOMB Thai food in Davis! And its at the edge of town where you get a lot of privacy and the feeling that you are eating in a hidden jewel that no one else knows of. Forget the yuppy places like Ket Mo Ree or Sophia. If you're a true yelper, you care about food, not what makes up for bad taste like waiters wearing nice uniforms or fancy light fixtures hanging from the ceiling...FOR REALS.

Anyway, I've tried Cindy's by day for breakfast and it satisfied me and my big appetite. This place serves all the traditional breakfast items like chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy and everything else you would expect to find at an all American breakfast diner. BUT what COMPELLED me to write a yelp review after months of yelp-reviewing-hibernation is the Thai restaurant that takes over Cindy's at night: Thai Dynamite.

It's like an explosion of Thai delight in your mouth. I came here one night with boyfriend trying to catch some taco bell that is right next to this place. Boyfriend says, "are you really sure you want taco bell, or do you wanna try this Thai place in front of us?" I say, "no. it doesn't look safe. I don't think I can trust Thai food in an American diner. It's just...weird..."

Anyway, boyfriend wins and we try Thai Dynamite. I was wrong. This is another example of why I should have never judged a book by its cover. Look at the reviews by other yelpers - I don't think this place got as much recognition until Thai Dynamite started serving their delicious plates there by night. There IS a reason. Think about it.

We ordered the drunken noodles and red curry. That, in a diner made for a romantic, satisfying and delicious night! Try it out, and if you're unsatisfied, I give you permission to blame me for it! :D As for us, we WILL be back. NOM NOM NOM, YUM YUM YUM.

Although Davis does have its fair share of Thai food restaurants, such as Ket Mo Ree, Sophia's, and Thai Recipes, I was quite delighted that my friends and I were able to try Thai Dynamite. It is located off Mace Blvd and Chiles Road and thus a little far out there, but probably worth your while if you are craving some pretty DYNAMITE Thai food. Oh, and by the way, that breakfast by day (Cindy's) and Thai by night (Thai Dynamite) is an awesome concept!

For the evening, I ordered the Pad Pri King (Spicy Green Beans), which was basically a stir fry mixed with plenty of veggies and chicken and sauteed in spicy ginger spice. The dish itself was very satisfying to my taste buds, as all of the ingredients blended wonderfully well and had just the perfect amount of spiciness. It was neither scorching spicy or too mild. I ate it without rice, but you don't have to eat everything with rice right?! I also had a few tastes of my friend's Pineapple Curry and just from those few spoonfuls, I have to admit that it was very pungent and filled with flavor. I will probably order that the next time I go here to get the full experience of it.

The highlight of our dinner was when the waitresses offered to give us free scoops of ice cream with chocolate syrup since they noticed that we had brought out cupcakes for a special occasion. This was very generous on their part to do such a thing and of course, we didn't refuse this offer. We were happy as hell, like little kids at the ice cream shop. It was freakin 100ish degrees that day, so it was a very nice treat to indulge in. They also proceeded to offer us free coffee, but only one of my friends agreed to that. But hey, it's free, so you can't blame him right?!  I'd also like to mention that their service was very prompt; the waitresses refilled our waters at the appropriate times and frequently came back to check up on us.

All in all, this place, although kind of small and low key, still caught me off guard and exceeded my expectations. It's amazing that I keep finding more and more pleasant places to eat at even after I have graduated. Makes me want to come back and live in Davis, just to try to look for more surprises..Well, maybe not quite, but everytime I come back to visit Davis, I like to refresh myself with new restaurants, and Thai Dynamite sure did not disappoint!

From 3:30 to 9 p.m. Cindy's restaurant turns into Thai Dynamite.  We were in the mood for Thai and gave it a try.  The food was fresh and delicious.

We had Pad See Yew with beef.  It is described as pan fried wide rice noodles with egg, broccoli and sweet black soy sauce.  Great flavor.

We also had the Jungle Curry with chicken.  It is a red curry with bamboo shoots, eggplant, green beans, zucchini, bell pepper, krachi, and Thai basil.  We asked for it without bell pepper and they readily agreed.  The server was concerned about us ordering the Jungle Curry.  She asked if we had ever eaten red curry before.  She was afraid that it might be too hot for us.  We assured her that we liked hot food.  It was very tasty.  Just the right amount of heat.

Significant other felt there should have been more meat in the entrees.  I liked the abundance of fresh vegetables in the Jungle Curry.  The broccoli in the Pad See Yew was also very fresh and bright green.  Cooked to perfection, not under or over.

We did notice a couple of groups come in and leave after finding out that they only serve Thai food for dinner.   They need more signage to make that clearer before people walk through the door.

We do plan to return.  The restaurant is easy to get to, there is plenty of parking, service was attentive and the food very tasty.  Prices were reasonable too.

This is an example of what a Diner should be. Not what most diners are - but what they aspire to be.

I assume if there ever was a real cindy that she is either very old or no longer with us. This place is quite aged. But, they keep it up pretty well.

Cindy's has great cooks and awesome wait staff. As any diner wishes they did. They have cinnamon buns that are so good that they are worth the cholesterol. So good that if you were within 30 minutes of Davis - it would be worth the gas money and hassle to drive their just for a stupid cinnamon bun. Yes, I said it - that good.

The breakfast is amazing. They have great veggie omelates. I dont eat meat anymore but when I did - the sausage gravy here is amazing. If you get yourself some pancakes and eggs with syrup and sausage gravy - not only are you on your way to a double or triple bypass - but you might think your in heaven now.

I would not recommend this place for dinner etc... but for breakfast its definitely tied for best in Davis area. Cafe Italia is probably right there neck and neck. The Cafe doesn't have the cinnamon buns but they have a full bar at like 7am and that's hard to beat when the food is great.

Anyway - this is a diner. But, its a great diner for breakfast. The food and service are consistent. The cinnamon buns themselves are worth coming for. Its also a great place to sit with friends and drink coffee and talk.

This place would be crawling with people at 2am if it was open at night. They should really consider it.

Man this place has been around forever. Surprisingly, years ago when I went to school in the area, I never set foot in it. Cut to present day, I'm trying to beat the crowds out of the storm in the mountains, we we want breakfast. Yelp mobile points us here. As I exit Deja Vu strikes. It has been a long time since I'd been in this area. The place is really old and so is some of the crowd. The crowd is actually all over the map since it's a holiday including a rowdy group of Davis high kids.

Takes us a while for anyone to acknowledge us. Soon we get our beverages and food, with our our server actually being quite friendly. The skillets we had were decently tasty though the edges were on the lukewarm side. They also throw tons of green onions in, where I proceed to pick out a stalks worth. However the combo of kielbasa, corned beef and bacon on buttery potatoes hits the spot. Since they closed the Denny's down the road (which I used to frequent for the $2 slams as a poor college kid) Cindy's has maintained. Though I saw a sign for Friday night Thai? WTF? 3.5 stars.

I went here once or twice. I don't remember anything special about it.
This does seem, however, like a pit stop diner which is kinda cool.

It has a tall sign you can see off the freeway. I live by this place in Davis and I've always wondered how they keep in business since it's kinda on the edge of Davis. They seem to be well established however and it seems that the employees have been there for ages.

I want to say that the food was alright. I am sure that I've had better although I am also sure you'll be satisfied coming here. I think that the prices were alright.

I don't think I'd come here again if I had the choice. There are better diners in Davis like IHOP. IHOP is also open more hours than this place, I believe.

The parking lot is kinda small and the place is never busy. I don't know if that means anything to you.

I guess it's a cool place to go if you just want to try somewhere random. Other than that, go somewhere in downtown Davis or something.

Broke and hungover? (because you spent too much money on too much booze the night before)

%$#@ all the shishy breakfast places in downtown Davis that cater to the farmer's market crowd. Extra kudos for the option to have smaller sized meals that cost no less than $6. That's right, no less than $6!

    I love you Cindy...if you're really a person...

My favorite breakfast spot in Davis. Cindy's makes me feel delightfully white-trash and has successfully cured hundreds of hangovers over the last several years.

The waitress knows my name and order, which always puts a smile on my face.

This is where I go when I'm looking for a good diner breakfast, especially when the hangover is looming.  The portions are great and filling at a good price.  You will get the traditional diner experience; full of coffee, toast, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, etc!

My favorite has to be the skillets.  It's everything I love for breakfast all together.

The service is friendly and very attentive.

Writing this is making me want to get out and get some, but alas it's 10 pm and I'll just have to wait.

I love Cindy's. They are THE restaurant to go to for breakfast. I used to come here all the time after an all-nighter. A fresh glass of orange juice, corn beef and hash, mmmmmm!   The staff is extremely friendly and attentive, never ran out of water.  They always have breakfast specials that range from $8-$11. They also serve yummy burgers.
Overall, great food for the money!
I just wish they would stay open a little later...

I was looking for a breakfast restaurant that's not Denny's or Ihop. Cindy's restaurant was the first restaurant I saw when I typed in pancakes and it was a four star! Of course I would have to try it out.

They serve traditional breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fried grits, to scrambles with kielbasa, pancakes, waffles, french toasts, omelets, skillets, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and baked items. All ranging from $4.75-$8.95, pretty damn cheap I would say.

They menu was filled with yummy sounding items that I didn't know what to get. I wanted to try the waffles, french toast, monte cristo, and the burger. I was in between the Combo (two eggs, two bacon, and two sausage and choice of pancakes, waffle, or French toast $7.25, and the Monte Cristo (turkey, ham, swiss, American cheese dipped in egg batter and deep fried. $8.95.

I went with the Combo since I was craving pancakes in the morning. Lots of food on the plate! Just the way I like it. Lots of eggs, bacon was fried to perfection, sausage wasn't the best , and you get THREE HUGE pancakes with warm syrup and a big slab of butter. Man, way too much food for $7.25. Pancakes were awesome and eggs were yummy, not greasy. I ate almost everything on my plate!

A  new breakfast joint for the BF and I when I'm in Davis! Next time, monte cristo and a cinnamon roll!!

Excellent, excellent breakfast food. There's no better place, in my mind, to start out your day. When I crave a good breakfast, this is where I go. Sure, it's far from the rest of Davis but it's also so good.

The wait can take a while, but it should be a good sign that the patrons range from the elderly to UCD students to Davis' younger residents.

My typical order are huevos rancheros which they make better than any other restaurant I've been to. My girlfriend loves the mexican omelet, with which they use fresh homemade salsa.

The former owner who passed away was always very nice and his staff  are always attentive, as well.

I heard that their pancakes are the best in Davis from my friends who have had them. You certainly can't go wrong with a place like Cindy's, I'm sure.

Like most places in Davis, you will walk in thinking you've warped back at least 30 years (note: wood paneling and old school server uniforms). The crab made of bread hanging high on the wall is strangely reassuring.

It's a greasy spoon for sure, with surprisingly great orange juice. The cinnamon rolls are wonderful--bathed in liberal applications of butter and icing. And they serve hash the only way it should be--right outta the can and fried on the grill. (Seriously, "homemade" hash? What's the world coming to?)

    Cindy's - good stuff.

Oh Cindy's you really are a relic of the past standing in the future. The strange wood paneling that has probably existed before I was born only serves as a reminder that I should respect your age old traditions and drink in the sweet nectars you provide for me.

But seriously, Cindy's is a great spot for breakfast thats a little off the beaten path of downtown Davis. They have some awesome pancakes, fresh squeezed orange juice, great home fries, and tasty omelets. Its a little greasy, a little odd, and the service can be slow at times but when you are going to a throw back place like Cindy's thats exactly what you want.
