I can't rate the bowling but the Chef, Joey in the sports bar restaurant is AMAZING!! I've know him for about 20 years and he's always been THE BEST COOK!! Don't hesitate to try the restaurant and ask if Joey is cooking that night. Â You won't be sorry that you had Joey cook for you!! Â If you go for dinner and you see Chef Joey tell him Heidi sent you!!
Review Source:We LOVE chef Joey!!!!!!! His home made daily soups are DELISH! I recommend the "Chef's Additions" dinner menu. Love his salads, steaks, seafood specials, prime rib, and fresh baked sour dough dinner rolls. YUM!!! Appetizers are great too. They rotate, but I have loved his stuffed mushrooms, lumpia, tempura shrimps, beef skewers, and potstickers. He's a great chef, and a REAL sweetheart. Gourmet, fresh ingredients, and very reasonable prices! My FAV restaurant, and I have dined in many 5 star places! XOXO Joey!!!!!
Review Source:I was really impressed with the size of this place. There is a lot to do including shooting pool, bowling, arcade games, dinner. It's a nice one stop shop for family night. The Management is very focused on safety. There are lots of security guards on sight. Almost to the point that was alarming. What are we being protected from? But I'm sure to most it's good for piece of mind. The food was a little greasy. This is not a health food place. For it's massive size, it was a bit crowded which I guess speaks to the popularity of the place. Nice place for a family night.
Review Source:Food is OK, nothing special, they need sports day specials, and more choices, especially on chicken wings. Frankly they suck here. Service is off and on, never had bad service by the wait staff. Bathrooms look like something out of a horror flick, really, they Need work. Look so unsanitary. My main problem is their choice of TV's playing sports games. They put the most popular games on the worst screens for viewing. Their customer service is really lacking. I come here nearly every week looking to watch the Patriots, in fact there are more Pats fans here than any other team, there is no Raider or 49r game on right now, which will fill up the place. With such a thin crowd, you would think that they would try to please the larger number of team fans, but NOOOOOOO. They are set, and will not change a channel, like the world would cease to exist if they even considered it, and this happens nearly every week. I am sick of this place frankly, and now looking for another place, or signing up for Direct TV to get the NFL games. It is not worth coming here and getting disappointed and frustrated with their lack of customer service and the lackluster food. Be cheaper to save the money on gas, and food to come here would more than pay for Direct TV if I go that route.
Review Source:This place has everything you need. From Casual Dining, Cafe, Pizza, to Full Dining at the City Sports Bar & Grill!. Chef Joey is amazing! Along with your normal bar food, Chef Joey has a Chef addition that ranges from Napa Style to Asian Cuisine.  Chef Joey also has amazing specials every Fri/Sat usually priced under $20.00.  Oh and don't let me forget Thur Prime Rib Night. A huge piece of prime rib w/baked potato  for only $15.  The service here is also great! I would highly recommend this place.
Review Source:Everyting is overpriced....sorry but it is.... and some of the managment/door people  are  kinda dickish....sorry  but its also true
Also its geared toward the older growed with coverbands and what not....Pool tables are nice and you can look down while playing and see the bad dancers jumping around....
Its also cool cause you can play pool upstairs and see still see the bigscreen if theres a game on..
all in all i try to avoid this place mostly because of the managment and staff
1.5 stars really....
The ultimate no-no for a restaurant happened to me here last night, that is, a foreign object in my food. Â :-(
Starving after having very little to eat all day, last night my wife and I decided to eat here. Â I had the French Dip Sandwich (and fries) and a side salad. Â My wife had the grilled artichoke.
So although I look up and see the Lakers winning...I try to put my best face on and I dig into the salad.  About halfway through it, I feel something in my mouth that I immediately thought  wasn't right.  I embarrassingly fumble to get it out of my mouth without the myriad of Laker's fans noticing, and behold, it's an inch-long, y-shaped "stick"...I guess that's the best way I can describe it.  I don't think it was plastic, but it wasn't part of the salad, I'm sure.
Well, like I said, I was starving, so I waited for the main course. Â The french dip sandwich was best described as "unremarkable". Â The "au jus" was DARK and a little strong (concentrated?). Â My wife reports that her artichoke was overcooked, and of below-average quality. Â Also, the two dipping sauces (one was melted butter, and the other some sort of honey-mustard concoction) were not to her liking, and she had to ask for them to bring out mayo as a substitute....which they willingly did.
So as for the "stick" incident, I did mention it to them, and the waitress seemed sympathetic, but there the salad was, still on my bill...I guess in this day and age, I shouldn't expect anything beyond the minimum concern out of folks.
So why, even with all this, why don't I blast them with just 1 star? Â Well, in all fairness, the fries were pretty tasty as was the lemonade I ordered. Â But needless to say, I won't be back, as I like my toothpicks to come AFTER the meal, and not DURING the meal.
Low sodium old fogies read this!!! Â I went in to the restaurant (we love to go to this place either before or after bowling) and informed the waiter I was on a low sodium diet & asked if there were any suggestions. Â He said he just started a couple of weeks ago but he'd find out. Â Moments later the Chef came out & introduced himself. Â Gave some suggestions (evidently the garlic mashed potatoes very high in sodium), asked my preferences & was great. Â Everyone at the table was impressed. Â We loved the food placed in front of us (I had the seared ahi with steamed veggies), and daaaang that ahi was great. Â Reminded me of an incredibly tender cut of beef. Â I just gotta say, it's nice to deal with a chef who cares. Â Thanks City sports...great staff & delicious food.
Review Source:My co-workers in Vacaville told me that the bowling alley is the place where everyone in Vacaville hangs out on the weekends. We had company this past weekend and not having any better ideas for stuff to do in Vacaville decided to check out this place.
We ate at the sit down restaurant / sports bar, City Sports Bar and Grill, first. The restaurant was pretty disappointing, maybe a 2 star place, which I guess I should've expected from a restaurant in a  bowling alley. Our food was universally below-par, and the restaurant is very overpriced. There was no atmosphere to speak of, except for a bunch of TVs in the restaurant. Now I'm all for lots of TVs in a sports bar, but there weren't TVs in every direction. The TVs that had shows on them rather than sporting events weren't subtitled.
That said, it still seemed like it would be a fun place to get a beer, sit at the bar, and watch a sporting event or listen to their weekly music performances, it just wasn't restaurant worthy. Next time I'll eat before I come!
We had a lot of fun bowling. We did have to wait for a lane, which seemed kind of odd considering there were 9 lanes open, but we didn't have to wait that long. Bowling was, well, bowling. It's always fun! The main criticisms I'd have is that the staff wasn't the greatest (they weren't very attentive, served out of turn, and would turn to different customers they hadn't served yet while they were in the middle of taking care of us), and the price was a little expensive. When I come back I'll be coming during the week and taking advantage of the "bowl 1 game, get another game free" special.
All in all, not the most exciting night ever, but I would come back again to bowl. I'll give them 2.5 stars and round up to 3. Â They also have shuffleboard (which I was admiring above the restaurant) and laser tag, which I didn't have the opportunity to try. If I come back and try those at a later date I will update my review.
Easy and yet not so easy to get to but also easy to get lost... if that makes sense :(
I love that they're open 24/7 because I'm definitely a night owl, just wish it was closer as I can't drive at night.
I came here with my coworkers this wednesday and it wasn't crowded.. at 1015pm, just a couple other groups and a couple more coming in.
Shoes $3.75
Game per person $4
After our game we asked if the clerk could print out the results and he did and I said 'Good Job' to the winner and asked the clerk if he had a gold star to which he grabbed a highlighter and put a star next to her name ^_^ Works for us!!
They close the lasertag early and also the food area wasn't open, I'm thinking the bar was open in the glassed area but I didn't go in there.
We'll be back! I'd rather drive 35-40ish minutes and get lost every time than to drive 5 minutes to Kentwig off of Magazine St... Go to Stars!!
Overall the place is great. I got kids, so while they're at da arcade or bowling, we adults are over at da bar gettin' our drink on. No need for babysitter. Just a designated driver, but that's should always be da rule. Don't 4get to try da garlic fries. Happy hrs from 2pm-6pm. Pitcher of MGD goes for like $8.
Review Source:Excellent menu variety and food quality. Â Don't let the fact that it's next to a bowling alley fool you. Chef Joey has it goin' on for awesome flavors and presentation. For some simpler faire, try his Kobe beef burger. Â It's one of the best (if not the best) burger I've ever had. Â I've never been disappointed yet. Â This place is Vacaville's "sleeper" restaurant inasmuch as most people wouldn't equate a high quality restaurant sitting adjacent to a bowling alley. Â Their rib-eye steak rocks also.
We just came back from a custom Sunday Brunch Chef Joey did for 9 of us. Â Â We bid on it at a Soroptomist fund raiser last year and won. Â Everything he served us was outstanding. Â The service was just as good. Â I can't wait tip next year.
I've been coming here for years. This place has a secret weapon. One item you will have to check out is Executive Chef Joey Jaraba's daily soup selection. They are all homemade, hearty and made with love!
Awww...who could ask for more? How do I know? He was kind enough to give me a personal tour of his kitchen! Besides being an excellent chef, Joey is a such a sweetheart. And he's SINGLE!
This is the ONLY bar I go to in Vacaville. I refer to it as Stars, then people actually know what you are talking about. They have a little bit of everything. They do charge a cover, $5, but $10 when its a really popular band playing. The security guys are real cool and do a great job. They have all doors covered, plus two rovers who patrol the whole bar, the bowling alley, and the outside. They have one bathroom in the bar area, downstairs. But I usually just take the walk down to the one at the other end of the bowling alley. The chef is good and takes pride in what he does. They have an arcade outside the bar. And they just got a new game called "Deal or no deal" Anyways, stop by and check it out today because it will be worth it.
Review Source:What a refreshing spot to find in the middle of Cowville. Â This place has all kinds of stuff for old and young alike. Â The upstairs is nice with pool tables, shuffle board and darts. Â The bar prices are very nice, $3.75 for well drinks. Â They have at least 10 beers on tap too. Â The live band Pop Fiction was good, 80's music with some modern stuff thrown in the mix. Â I definitely recommend this place for a fun night out on the town. Â Oh and the food looked really good, huge portions. Â Only had a few bites of the garlic fries and they were perfection with huge chunks of garlic. Â There was plenty of parking and super easy location right off the freeway.
Review Source:This place overall is great, they have a little bit of everything and it's open 24hrs I think if not it's really close to it.
I have eaten lunch in the diner which, I have bowled many of times at all hours...lol, it gets spendy after a drinks and many rounds but now a days what doesn't.
The bar and grill is fun with a dance floor, live band on Friday nights, full bar and better food than most bars. I got a Cesar salad for $7.95 and it was way too big I ended up taking more than 1/2 home.
** wait the bathrooms are HORRIBLE!! bring hand sanitizer..yes its that bad
I'll admit, I don't come here for food. It's all about alcohol and bowling!!!! I am usually with big groups and we just pound drinks and bowl to our hearts content. It's a bit pricey, but bowling (along with everything else) seems to be getting higher in price.
The downfall is the kids that come here. Bad crowd in the parking lot, but securtiy tries to keep a hold on that. And the teenies bowling can be annoying.
Where's the 21 and up bowling places at??
For a bowling alley they have damn good food. Â I am not talking about the fried food either!! Â Try the seared ahi. Â Holy cow! Â Big portions, so tasty. Â Although sometimes the chef gets a little carried away with the amount of wasabe he puts in the bed of wasabe mashed potatoes that the ahi is served on. Â That is my favorite dish and we get it every time we go.
Review Source:What no one has mentioned is City Sports has an Executive Chef - their Chef's menu is fantastic, so are their daily specials.  They also have burgers and hot dogs on the regular menu, but when I want a good dinner, that's where I go.  They have Certified Angus Beef and serve Kobe Beef burgers too.  Soups are homemade and always good.  Personally, we stay away on weekend nights, but it's a hot spot  for night life if that's what you're into. I suspect the restrooms are bad at night because of the crowd , they're okay at lunch time.
Review Source:Really big place, cool spot to hit up and have drinks and shoot pool at later in the vening. Only down fall is it's bopper central. Be prepared to see preteens in short shorts and tube tops that i'm sure they packed away and slipped on after their parents dropped them off. Really difficult to have a good time when all these youngins are running around. Â Good thing once the sun sets they begin to ID and only allow people 21 and up in certain places of the facility.
In the day time it is a fun place to bring the kiddies and bowl. Never had the food. Personally.. i'm not a fan of eating in places where it smells like feet all the time. If I remember correctly there's also this arcade-like area so totally check the place out if you have kids and you want to do something indoors.
This is a cool bowling alley up in Vacaville that I came to for a kid's bday party this weekend.
Alot of families and children around bowling and playing in the arcade..there is a party room in the back where we dined on pizza and appetizers...
I didn't get a chance to bowl because we got here late..but everyone still had a great time!
This place is known to all the locals as "Starz" and the place is usally packed on certain game nights. Â The food at the bar area is surprisingly good and they have great service as well. Â They do offer happy hour and the food is really cheap during those hours. Â
Since it is the only happenin' place in town, most people come for food, bowling, arcade games, pool, sports, or just to drink and be merry. Â The place is pretty old so there are some drawbacks -- like the bathrooms and the fact that the bowling alley is pretty dated. Â But what more could you ask for in Vacaville?
If you wanted to have some drinks at a bar and grab some appetizers, this is cool place to go. Â If you wanted to play some pool, this is a cool place to go. Â If you wanted to catch a game, this is a cool place to go. Â Obviously if you wanted to bowl, this is a really cool place to go. Â
Food is actually ok and the drinks are pretty good. Â It can get crowded on certain nights and sometimes the crowd can be suspect. Â
I did notice though how the staff does card people that can pass as their own parents. Â i understand that an establishment has to be sure everyone who drinks must be over the age of 21, but they're carding senior citizens short of using a walker around the bar. Â It just doesn't make sense to me. Â
Cool place to hang out in the area.
