Clasico Cafe And Bar

It's my first time here - located at an up and coming spot in downtown Sarasota.  I only had apps and it was half great and half ok...  pork belly lettuce wrap was a bit greasy and the mushroom risotto was anything to write home about.  I will do the wings and brussel sprouts again.

The space is very cool, the owners have done a good job of converting the space and making it an interesting addition to downtown Sarasota.  We thought the food was quite good, tasty and well-prepared.  We had the lettuce spring rolls, salted cod balls, a cheeseburger and a beet and goat cheese salad.  All good.  We really came ready to like this place very much and I always like to support local and new businesses.  However, unfortunately, the two stars is because of the really poor and frankly unprofessional service.  It seems like they are just clueless.  There are sufficient number of staff but there does not appear to be anyone managing them and they literally look like they do not know what to do.  Simple basics as not supplying plates, cutlery and glassware.  And trying to find one's waiter was an adventure.  

We'd be willing to try again but only after an upgrade of the service which this restaurant really requires.

I have been here several times for drinks and food. The atmosphere is hip and the food is fantastic. The reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because of the service. This place is fairly new but all the staff still act like they don't know what they are doing. The food however is great. Their appetizers are especially good- try the pork belly lettuce wraps and fish tacos. This place is a great addition to downtown. It seems to attract a slightly younger crowd than surrounding places and has a great vibe. Prices are decent considering the food is of good quality. Give it a try for sure!
