Matto Matto Italian Cafe And Wine Bar

This is the coolest place. Been there about 7 times in the last 3 weeks. Lunch, dinner, nighttime for drinks and music. Brand new and one of the best ever opened in Sarasota for real truly fine authentic Italian food. Pasta-homemade-fresh made is unbelievable. Amazing salmon sauce (was a special, don't expect it every night). My wife loves the salmon salad. Great wine selections. And dessert... Tartuffe... chocolate and vanilla ice cream scoop covered in powdered chocolate with chocolate sauce. I have had it twice and may get it again tonight (they also have this in a cappucino version). Tiramisu according to my parents is out of this world. Have no idea what the first folks were talking about but I have had the pizza twice (Margerita and Fungi) and it has been hot and the literally best in Sarasota, thinnest crispy crust you can imagine. Real whole milk mozzarella. Packed every lunch and night since they opened. Music in the evening is great (Spanish guitar/flamenco). They told me that the first 2 weeks after they opened, they had some technical problems with the register and some service staff issues which are now resolved. Staff have bent over backwards to accommodate us. Never waited long, Staff always smiling and pleasant. Never had a bad meal, every meal has been fantastic. Great outdoor seating and dog friendly. Heading out again now.

PS one night I was there, a woman patron swore at the owner (in front of several patrons including me) for charging $8.50 for a glass of wine after she had seen the price, ordered it anyway, and drank it all (she was not upset about the quality of the wine, just the price). Strangely, she seemed pretty drunk and I applauded how they handled it, kicking her out and asking her never to come back again.

I thought this place was cute and was hoping it would be great. NOT. We had to get our own chairs for the dirty table. We even had to ask for silverware when our food came.   If you want to spend $10 on half a bowl of salad, get served cold pizza and bad house wine, this is the place to go.

I love this place! Real Italian Margherita pizza! And lots of wine to choose from!  Just opened one week ago. Great addition to this artsy area of Sarasota. I'll be back.
