We bought a pool table here from Allan. Â Not only did he help us find the right table for us, but he provided incredibly detailed moving service to ensure the condition of the table was maintained! Â In addition to helpful advice and great customer service, we were able to play a couple games on the tables at Classic Billiards. Â Great improvement for those tired of playing on ratty bar tables!
Review Source:Buying a pool table from Classic Billiards was a fantastic experience.
I was actually going to buy off of craigslist first, but had no idea what I was doing, so I asked the owner here, Allan. He gave me a ton of valuable advice and things to look for in buying a used table, and even offered to come along with me to check out the one I was considering - completely amazing customer service for someone buying from a competitor! In the end I ended up getting a 9' table directly from Classic Billiards, and it was definitely the right choice. They installed the table for me too, with a phenomenal amount of care and attention to detail. These guys are definitely professionals, and it shows in the high quality of their work.
I would definitely recommend Classic Billiards to anyone, and once I'm good enough to upgrade to a new tournament-quality table, I'll be going back to them myself!
So what if I'm the only one playing the country hit, I don't see you guys paying for the jukebox.
It's not a trip home unless I'm driving down the empty but beautifully lit 4th St. and parking my car (free at night either on the street or at the garage up C St.) outside for some pool. The beer selection is decent and if I remember correctly there's a night where women play free and they also offer a student discount.
If you're looking for something to do at night in Marin, look no further, with pool tables downstairs and upstairs, I've never been told I had to wait.
Little on the pricey side so it's best if you go in a group.
While looking around San Rafael for a place to plan a work outing with our team of 8, I stumbled across Classic Billiards on Yelp. Â We spoke to Allan, who gave us a price quote for 2 hours worth of pool, foosball, and ping pong. Â Showed up the day of, were greeted with a smile, and were taken upstairs to a more private area for all of us to enjoy (complete with a jukebox that we quickly descended upon). Â Staff stopped in to check on our group several times that afternoon, and couldn't have been friendlier. Â If you want a no-frills, economical place to kick back for a couple of hours and shoot some pool, you've found your destination. Â Thanks again to Allan and the rest of the Classic Billiards crew!!
Review Source:I've gone to this place occasionally over the last several years - generally on weekend afternoons. Â This Wednesday night, though, we felt like getting out and wound up here. Â It was pretty crowded with mostly young Mexican guys from the Canal. Â The jukebox played Mexican rap interspersed with songs such as "I Did it My Way" in Spanish.
Review Source:Not too much to say about Classic Billiards. It is what it is- a 2 story building downtown San Rafael that consists of pool tables and a small bar to order drinks from. Its clean, not seedy, and the workers are friendly. Â A nice place to relax. And lets be honest, this is San Rafael, its one of your only entertainment options other than heading to SF or drinking.
Review Source:Classic is the best place to find competition-sized pool tables and a nice, cool environment mostly devoid of incompetent little kids yelling and screaming or drunk dudes puking on the felt. No pillar of chalk on the wall equals a classy pool hall where they understand how the game is supposed to be played. I bought my cue here and even had it re-sanded for free a few weeks after I bought it. The service is friendly, the locale keeps to themselves, and the tables are well-kept.
Review Source:We had our son's 9th birthday party at Classic Billiards on a Saturday afternoon. It really worked out great! They have a party room upstairs with a Wii, Ping Pong, Foosball, a jukebox and, of course, pool. The local pizza places know them so it's easy to order a pizza by phone. The management was super flexible. We could pretty much bring in anything we wanted for the party and decorate the room the way we wanted it. It was great to have so many activites for the kids in this one big room. It made it easy to keep track of the kids while still giving them a lot of options for playing. Even the owners son came in to teach the kids some cool pool shots.
Contrary to what you might think about a billiards place, Classic Billiards had a real family environment and a nice crowd. I spoke with the owner and he is very community focused. He mentioned that he makes the room available for school functions during the off hours. It would be a great place to have a soccer team meeting, for example.
HELL NO.... Â Did you just tell me it costs $32 for me and my BF to spend two hours playing pool on a Friday night? Â WTF??? Â This place is not in the least bit fancy, nothing like those upscale pool halls in SF. Â Drive on by and forget you ever thought about it. Â This is absolutely, positively not the place to go, no f'ing way will I ever go back to this DUMP. Â For real, didn't ever imagine that it would cost that much to shoot a couple games of pool, here I was thinking what a good way to spend a small amount of money and get some good cheap entertainment, wow, was I wrong.
Save yourself the trouble and money and go on over to Trevor's or Pint Size or something, where it probably costs about $1.00 per game. Â This place totally sucks, they don't even have pinball here. Â And when I asked the guy at the front counter, "sir, now don't you think it might be a good idea to actually POST YOUR HOURLY PRICES SOMEWHERE?" Â Â Seriously, I didn't imagine it would cost $16 an hour for two people to mess around playing a little pool. Â The guy just laughed, and said, "yeah, that might be a good idea." Â Oh yeah, here's another good idea, go anywhere else but here to have fun on a Friday, they even chage $4 for a Budweiser, totally outrageous, RIP OFF CENTRAL HERE. Â DON'T DO IT!!!
Nice small pool hall to shoot at. They only have a couple Brunswick table but it's well maintained. The table I was playing on had some funky cushion on it so it was trick to make bank shots. I can't say the same thing for the balls though since they look like they aren't taken care of. There was a waitress who asked me twice if I needed some to drink so the service is nice. They only charge $6.50/hr which is pretty cheap for one person and there's a parking garage very close by which is free after 6pm. BTW, thanks to the Amici's pizza delivery guy for pointing that out to me! The best part is it's somewhat close proximity to San Francisco and that it's located near many restaurants if you're hungry. Downside is that they charge $2.50 for a Snapple and they have a $10 minimum for credit cards but I'm not taking any stars off for that.
Review Source:i think i spent the better part of my teen years at classics. it's right on the san rafael strip and is open extremely late. it's not too pricey and is a good place to take in a couple of games of 8 ball. i think there are 6 tables downstairs and 9 upstairs (don't quote me on that) so it can be pretty lively on a weekend night. it's down the block from double rainbow and amici's pizza which is a nice perk. easy street parking and a late-night free lot across the street from the back door. an occasional fun place in marin for a first date or a night out with friends.
