I think this place needs to have a manager that knows what they are doing. I mean seriously! We went there last night to meet friends that live right around the corner. I tried to get my other friends to go but they refuse to go there anymore because it is ALWAYS dead. Here is the funny thing, the place has already down sized 1 time to make the small amount of people look like it is busy and yet even though this place must be ready to close their doors for good, they are still charging a 10.00 cover for guys and a 5.00 cover for girls. WHAT?? Fire the manager!! You need to start having drink specials (not watered down crap) but 1.00 drinks from 8 until 10pm and not charge 5.00 for a red bull. Seriously, if you were pulling a serious crowed then that is 1 thing but when you cant pack a small club then MAKE CHANGES.
Review Source:I went to support friends who were having a special event, so I can't claim it was a typical night.
HOWEVA
We had a really great time. Â I brought a couple friends and my mother. Â As other reviewers commented, the crowd is a good mix so no one really felt out of place. Â The dance floor was spacious, but not overcrowded. Â I didn't realize it was a throwback bar, but that's cool if that's what you're in the mood for. Â
A very fun night.
After much hype about Club 22 I caved in and decided to check out Club Deuce Deuce with a few friends. We arrived at around 10:00 pm which is still early for club standards and the lounge was filled with a decent amount of people.
The layout of the club is as follows: as you walk in there is a bar in front on you and a big dance floor and with a few tables on either sides to sit and then a at about a 2 foot elevation a lounge area with a full service bar.
As the night progressed the crowd picked up and it got packed, however, I noticed that the crowd here is very clique-ish. People cling around in their comfort pockets just with their group of friends. Hence, if your expecting to having a good conversation with a stranger.....bring your imaginary friend..becuse you might be disappointed. Like a lot of lame clubs this one as well has too many guys in comparison to girls and an imaginary wall around the dance floor made up on guys staring @ people dancing.
The drinks are a bit pricey and water down. I got a Crown and Coke and there was just too much ice in it and super watered down.
The music is just top 40. I wish the DJ could switch it up a bit and hype the place up a little more.
I definitely did not have fun here and would not go back here unless I have to. I would much rather go to Royal Oak/Ferndale or the D-town.
You wouldn't really expect to find a big club inside a shopping plaza in Shelby Twp. But here it is! Club 22, is a pretty cool place to go to for suburbanites in 25 to late 30 age range... although I have seen some people a in their 40s too.
I've been here a couple of times and the first time was for a Bachelorette party, which it was perfect for! We all dressed up in 80's clothes, which was fitting because Club 22 is known for their throw back old school jams from the 70's 80's 90's. It's a fun place for any age. Although I've never been there, but I would say this is a very light version of Boogie Fever (Ferndale). You really do have to be buzzed to have some fun here because you're not going to hear any new songs. And Club 22 definitely likes to help you out with that... on Saturday nights they'll call single ladies to the stage and pass out free shots to the first 10 or so that get up there. They really just want everyone to have a good time. Their dance floor is pretty big but there are some drunk grease-ball guys that try to dance on you from time to time... so beware!
Overall a cool place, definitley worth a visit if you're in the area and too lazy to drive down to Detroit.
This is a cool club to be at on a random night you just feel like dancing the night away. The patrons here may mostly be your 20-somethings, but most are not "see & be seen", or yuppies. Many are modest locals that come here to truly "just dance," heeding to Lady Gaga's motto. This place would not be considered trendy or chic, but it is definitely well kept and has a unique approach to a new-school disco flavor to modern nightlife. This is the kind of club you will find a few small groups of Eastern Europeans in their mid-late 30s - looking for younger tail. This is a place where you find occasional folks in their 30s from the working class - wanting to take a load off on the dance floor after a long week. But, for us younger folks, there are still enough 20-somethings in the mix to create a sense of familiarity and comfort here. I've never been to Boogie Fever in Ferndale, but something tells me this place may share some traits with the nostalgia and eclectic flavor of that venue. I am personally a fan of places like this where older and younger folks feel comfortable partying it up together. It is also pretty impressive that some well-known names like Livvi Franc, Ke$ha, and Jay Sean have played live here in club/concert style shindigs!
Accessibility is very great, typical metro Detroit style - as Club 22 is situated in a plaza near 22 Mile and Hayes - so parking is of course free, and similar to parking at any other plaza in the area (plenty of spaces and a private lot). I believe they charged us cover after a certain time, but it was something fair ($5-10/person). One night we went, we walked in and thought the crowd was a little dead and we just weren't feeling it so we walked right back out and got a refund on the cover. I'm not going to hold it against them at all, because the refund was great service. The stiffs at Black Finn in Royal Oak would not return me my money in the same situation!
Overall, if you like eclectic, nostalgic venues where patrons age ranges are diverse, as well as musical selection - this would definitely be a must-see club. However, do go on a Friday or Saturday night and perhaps check their website for special events to see if it is a happening night - to be safe. It is especially worth it to check this club out if you live in Macomb County. I will definitely visit this place on occasion.
