This place was recommended by our server at the Hitching Post and also across from our hotel (Anderson Split Pea Best Western) so it didn't matter if we got a lil toasty.
It's behind the gas station so it's a little obscure to locate but once you do, the inside is spacious and the drinks are STRONG! I got a moscow mule with premium vodka and my friend a local beer for a total of $16 - perhaps a little steep for the area, but they did not f**k around with my drink. It was a force to be reckoned with. I asked for some water on the way out and the bartender gave me a bottle of Crystal Geyser on the house. Rather classy I'd say.
Darts are free.
Pool tables are open.
The local peeps are cool and friendly.
In my limited travels, I have noticed that local watering holes evoke one of two responses from me: I either think they're a really cute/charming/cool snapshot of a certain locale, or they somehow depress me. Â This place definitely qualifies as the latter.
Just had this vibe like people didn't really like it, but they were forced to go because there's no other option. Â Then again, it can also be a really convenient way to get your drink on without needing to drive if you're staying at the Windmill. Â So, convenience gets one star.
