I have long debated on writing an update for Coach's but after our last visit I decided let's give them another star!

Pins and Strikes/Coach's has been taken over by a new owner, maybe over a year ago.  They have had fights, shootings and bad reviews.  LOL I'm sorry I'm getting to the reason for the four stars. . . With all that said they have seemed to overcome some of these hard ships and developed a worthy venue for us, Elk Grovians!  Elk Grove is lacking on the bar, music, dancing scene and Coach's has began to fill that void.

The menu has been revamped, which include new tasty items and lower prices.

The music scene is GREAT including the groups Midnight Players, Mercy Me, DJ Gino and live jazz; giving the venue a older more mature vibe.

The drinks, though served in plastic cups (remember it's still a bowling alley), are worthy of drinking and prices are reasonable.

The scene is alive and fun every Friday and Saturday nights.  Also keep in mind all the sporting events they have for your viewing pleasure!

So all in all, Coach's has stepped up and I hope they continue to provide us with fun times!

This place is good for seating when it comes to catching games.  Plenty of different sections w/ TVs.  Food is OK, service can be very slow depending on how busy.  Our server today lacked common sense waiting skills such as providing napkins when she brought our food and not bringing back the correct amount of cups.  Given it was a busy day, she showed flashes of attitude which obviously isn't good.  I would give this sports bar a better rating if they upgraded their menu and stepped it up a notch w/ better service.

Surprised this place has so many bad reviews. I have only been there once but loved the huge screens and multiple types of seating. Service was kinda slow, food was pretty good for bar food. I'd definitely go back to watch the next big game.

Horrible.  I went to watch game four of the World Series and the service was so bad that we left halfway through the game.  This place wasn't even fully packed and yet there were tables stacked with dirty glasses and plates.  The beer I ordered was put in a plastic cup because they had no clean glasses.  We never had a waiter/waitress approach our table although we were there for about an hour.  We flagged down a busboy to place an order of food (only because I was starving) and 40 minutes later I received the wrong order.  I was fuming by the time I left this place- I don't understand how you could run a business so poorly.  Someone should be embarrassed...

I would have given 0 stars if I could. Service is horrible and the staff is not knowledgable. It took almost 40 minutes to get our food (burger & wings)! It wasn't even busy and others that ordered after us hit their food before us. Then the order was wrong! The waitress never checks in you and you have to flag her down to get anything. I had to go ask about what happened to our order. The manager apologized but never took care of the inconvenience (gave us the full bill)!

For a bowling alley restaurant, it's okay. Nothing's too special, other than the multiple widescreen TV's. Stick with the appetizers.

Until last Thursday I had never heard of this Coach's and I should have logged on to yelp to check out the reviews prior to visiting this place. I really had no expectations this place but I did hope it  would be a top rated spot.

Well... the venue itself is located next to Strikes Bowling Alley which is awkward considering the possibility of constant noise intrusion during a live performances but it worked out because there was hardly anyone bowling next door anyway.

The inside decor of Coach's has your typical sports bar paraphernalia... flat screen televisions throughout the restaurant, sports gear from various leagues, men at the bar drinking way too much and men at the tables consuming wayyyyyy too many calories... Typical, right?

The only thing that made this place special was the large stage that sits right to the entry door. It's impressive being that both Harlow's, Marilyn's and The Blue Lamp have these tiny stages with barely any room for the artists or their bands to move around on.

Anyway, the service started off great! We were greeted by a waiter who showed us to a table and brought us menus. Within in minutes we had a waitress asking if we wanted to start off with something to drink. We (my friends and I) ordered water and proceeded to look over the menu for the healthiest meals for dinner. (Don't you dare laugh!)

Not even minutes passed before she was back with our water asking if we were ready to order. I was like girl give us a minute dang! So she left us to decide and ten minutes later we ordered our food. Fifth teen minutes later we had our food and um yeah that was definitely NOT the highlight of our night.

My friend Maha ordered their pizza and the sizing was perfect but the quality... well it had to be one of them cheap frozen pizzas that you throw in the oven!! The cheese looked like rubber and there was barely any pepperoni on it and the sauce looked stale.

Connie ordered the chicken fingers with fries and her food looked cool with the exception of the honey mustard sauce they gave her that looked more like water down tarter sauce or whale jizz.

And my chicken quesadillas... they were a greasy hot mess and just poorly made. The cheese tasted like wax and the fried not sautéed veggies taste old. We ate because we were hungry but I totally should have followed my first mind and went to Loving Hut for dinner instead.

Not only was the food horrible but it took nearly an half an hour just to check the bill after dinner. HELLO, who does that? And then the waitress left without collecting a tip... she was nice so we did tip her.

The one thing cool that did ended up happening (besides John performing) was that when I checked in on foursquare I was able to use my special and got my appetizer for free! We were also comp free champagne courtesy of the promotion group hosting the event since were VIP guest of their headliner John West.

So while the night ended on a high note, this place is definitely not worth a high praise and I surely will not be returning to this place any time soon. I am not a fan of Coach's at all!

    K.J.

Never again.  First and last time  The pizza was disgusting. I could not finish one slice.  Cheap frozen pizza.  The chicken sandwich was gross. I think the chicken came from a can.  My daughter couldn't eat it. The burger was just okay. The soup was nasty paste.  It couldn't be eaten. The fries were good. I ate those. Is that why I am sick to my stomach now?   My other 2 daughters also have stomach aches.  Scary.  50 bucks for ****.

This place is cool for a local spot that has a full bar, pool tables, and a bowling alley. The drinks here are moderately priced during happy hour, but I don't care for their peak hour prices. They charge a little more than I would hope for a shot of Jameson, about $9. The food here is not bad, we always order the wings and the fries.  The fries are pretty legit, we always share a large order while we chill with our beers.

They recently changed out the pool tables so that's a plus. The multiple LCD tv makes it easy to catch any of your favorite games. They have a huge jumbo tron in the main area for the high watched events.

On the weekend, they charge a cover for this place which is pretty lame for a place in Elk Grove.  The place gets kind of ghetto on the weekend because lots of high school kids hang out at strikes. I came here once on a Friday night and vow to myself never to do that again.

If you are looking for a place to grab a drink with friends on a weekday, check this place out. I'd try to avoid the weekend crowd unless you are into that crowd.

    3 stars.

    Enjoy.

Drinks are about standard bar price, but you'll be astounded at how little they serve you. I paid full price for about half of what a regular Jager shot is.

The tables were messy. I sat my arm in a puddle multiple times. Not once did I see anyone clean a table until the end of the night. We knew the band playing, so we planned to stick around to help them take equipment out. It was still during their set when a girl came up to our table and said, "Can you leave? I want to go home too, ya' know." WOW.

Oh, and their ATM was broken, so I had to magically find a way to get cash for their $10 cover. Ridiculous.

Horrible service unless you sit at the bar!! The bartenders are great, the wait staff should all be fired immediately and those jobs should be given to someone who actually wants to make money. Just saying....  Tried it twice and the same both times. This time we noticed the waitresses would rather flirt and text instead of working. Whatever, we will sit at the bar and get our wings, and not stay as long as we would if there was any kind of service at the tables. 2 stars one for the wings and one for the bartender!

I have only gone to Coach's during their great Happy Hour.

A MUST to get is their carnitas street tacos!  They are available all day Tuesdays for only $1 and during Happy Hour only other days.  I have to admit, their tacos are BETTER than the tacos at Zocalo's!!  There, I said it and it's true!

Their buffalo/chicken wings are great!  I have been told their "HOT" is CRAZY hot, too hot to even eat, and their "MEDIUM" is regular hot to everywhere else.

Margaritas are great here and cheap! :)

My favorite part of Coach's is that the bartenders are fantastic. They can get you set up with a delicious drink from minimum instructions.

Also! There are Pool Tables! I love the pool tables, exceppppttt that they usually are missing the cue ball. And every game costs a dollar.

The juke box in the pool room is pretty awesome, but when they have live music going it's a waste of money.

All in all, I'm not sure that it's worth the cover charge on most nights, but if you head in on a Friday or a Saturday, fun will ensue.

Maybe deciding to grab a bite here on a late Sunday morning was foolish but snubbing your clientele is even more foolish.

After bowling a few games in the adjacent "Strikes," my brother, father, and I built up an appetite for an early lunch so we walked into Coach's at 11 a.m. There was a young man and a young lady behind the bar, along with one other employee who quickly retreated behind the door (presumably to the kitchen). The girl poked her head out from behind the bar for a peek, but then went back about her business. After about two minutes of standing there, my brother asked the guy behind the bar if they were open. His reply was a terse, "Yes."

There was no greeting by any staff member, no "Please take a seat, we'll be with you in a moment,"  not any utterance at all from the staff except for that lone monosyllabic affirmation of their establishment being open for business. We didn't know if we were to sit at any table we liked, belly up to the bar, or what. It probably didn't help one bit that there was nobody else in the whole danged place.

Upon waiting another couple of minutes and talking amongst ourselves about next steps, we decided to light out of there. Dear ol' Dad went back in to speak with somebody in charge, but there was no manager on duty at Coach's. Go figure.

We didn't even get to see a menu, so I'm unable to comment on fare or price. The kids working the opening shift did a good job at making sure that their morning was quiet.

After a telephone conversation with the management on the following day, it seems our experience is the norm for Coach's. With lots of lookie-lou's passing through their doors on their way to Strikes, the policy at Coach's is to do nothing, not even acknowledge a person until they seat themselves. Maybe a sign instructing patrons to find their own table would be helpful.

From a customer service standpoint, they get one thumb down from the left hand, and from the right hand, Coach's morning staff gets one thumb sideways alongside a centrally located finger pointing straight up.

The customer service here is poor, at best. We were ignored by the staff, we didn't get so much as a "hello" or a "be right with you". Not even a "please seat yourself" or an acknowledgment of any kind. The bartender and server were content to ignore us and went about doing whatever was more important than attending to paying customers.

Needless to say, we didn't stay and eat. What's worse is that we were the only customers there, literally! There is no excuse for them to ignore us. We wanted to speak with the manager on duty, but there wasn't one.

After calling the next day and speaking with a manager, he goes on to say that its, for the most part, their policy to not interact with customers until they are seated. His reason for this is that some people just walking through. Everyone walking through their doors should be greeted, its called customer service. How are the customers to know that you are supposed to seat yourself if there is no sign stating that or a staff member to inform you?

Its because of managements lack of training of staff and poor policies, that i will not be returning. Nor would i recommend anyone else go there. Btw, Strike's Bowling has nothing to do with Coach's Restaurant. They are two separate entities. That being said, i will recommend Strike's though! lots of fun!

What time is it? Finally off work at 4pm and just in time for Coach's Happy Hour!!! (Yes, that is what I look forward to)

They have to have one of the bests happy hour in town. That might even be an understatement. Monday - Friday running from 4-7pm.

Hot Wings: They're half priced during happy hour. 10 for $5 for 20 for $10. That's uber cheap compared to wingstop and etc. You can order them up BBQ, Mild, or Hot! ***I recommend ordering them up "naked" or dry with sauce on the side that way they come out hot and crispy and you can control the amount of sauce you want on it.

French Fries (Beer Battered): Has to be some of the tastiest junk I feed my body, I feel guilty but it's oh so good.... $3 for regular and $4 for large order. How can stuff this good be so bad for you :(

Chicken Tenders: Really good and tender! Only $4

Tacos (Street Style): So delicious, come served up with fresh tomato salsa and a creamy, zesty "Santa Fe" style sauce. You get your choice of meat: either Beef, Chicken, or Carnitas (pork) served up on two warm corn tortillas. Only $1

They have domestic drafts for $2.50 and margaritas for $3.50... I usually enjoy the crisp taste of ice cold Budlight but I also like their blended margaritas with salt.

Tuesdays are a really good day to come! It's taco tuesdays so $1 tacos go on all day/night and margaritas are only $2.50!!! Plus they have trivia night starting at $7 so you and your group can win a chance at $30 off your bill!

Good food, good prices, and great drinks! I'm in, hopefully I'll be sober enough for trivia :)
