A friend of mine lives within walking distance of The Cocunut Grove, so we decided to check it out on Friday. Â There was a $5 cover to get in, but it was worth it. Â There was a DJ who was spinning some Funk, old school R&B, 90's Hip Hop, and some newer Hip Hop. Â He played a good set, and he took requests too!
The drinks were cheap ($4 Draft Beers) and they had about 15 different beers on tap. Â I can't speak for the mixed drinks, but they were probably reasonably priced too. Â
It was a diverse crowd, and everybody was friendly. Â They have a dance floor, but there were only a few ladies dancing, and as good as the DJ was, I'm surprised that the dance floor wasn't packed. Â
Overall, it's a cool, laid-back spot and I would go back again some time.
One afternoon I saw a lady in the parking  lot in & out of  a red truck digging  through recycle,Later she walked into  the kitchen talking to the guy with the long beard (dishwasher) & the overweight cook,She (crack head)  was scratching her head & touching the dishes in the kitchen, this lady looked like she had not taken a shower for weeks,I had left  coconut grove & got fully refunded, Another night I decided to go inside of coconut grove and pick up a drunk cousin  of mine and drive him home, The door man or security guard with the blackest neck ever  says "that will be a $5  cover charge to get in"     wow yeah right (I'd rather buy 3 red bulls)  a shitty bar with no music & no strippers ( got to hell) My cousin can stay....
