This was my first stop on what turned out to be a long night and it was a great start. Â Codys was full of friendly locals and the bartender was awesome. Â I never caught her name (or maybe I did but the liquor got to me too soon). Â She was friendly, approachable and on top of it. Â Short brown hair I think with brown eyes.
Anyway, the drinks were strong. Â I stuck with my usual Vodka tonic and it was a perfect blend, having enough Vodka to get me tipsy but not too much to where I might mistake it for a shot instead. Â
The bathrooms were a bit run down, which you can only hope for and expect from a dive. Â The stall on the left doesn't lock. Â I found out the hard way, walking in on someone who was amazingly multi tasking-texting while using the urinal. Â Good times!!
I'd prefer to come back here when I see my cousin again. Â It's one of those places where the locals are obvious, you can run the juke box and the drinks will have you sitting by the third round if not sooner. Â My kind of joint.
This place was pretty alright for a Friday night in GP. Dive bar at its finest. 3 pool tables, 30 or so locals, terminator 2 pinball, 90's and older karaoke, and $5.00 hearty glasses of Jameson. dancing if you will.
the regulars were friendly 21-30-somethings. For my first trip to GP from Sacramento, Cody's lived up to my expectations. I had a good time, and I got wasted. Thanks Cody's!
As legend has it, Cody's Tavern was, at one time, the Josephine County Jail! Â Today, Cody's is about the best tavern for miles around. Â They are always open during their posted hours of operation (7:00 am 'til 2:30 am.) a big plus and not that common around here! Â
Cody's a spacious place with some amazing people serving a clientele as diverse as it gets in this neck of the woods. Â Old folks, young folks, loggers, mill workers, factory workers, professionals, bikers, boarders, singles, couples, in-laws, outlaws. Â Everybody gets along just fine.
In addition to the beer, wine and soda, there is always a pot of coffee and tasty snacks available on the side bar ... help yourself, no charge!
What really sets Cody's apart from the others is there excellent customer care. Â Each and every Friday night is pizza night and we're not talking frozen pizza, we're talking about 20 (at least) pies delivered from a local pizza joint, with individual packs of ranch dressing and anything else to dress up your slice ... help yourself, no charge!
I attended one of the best super bowl parties ever to be hosted at a bar ... er, I mean tavern, at Cody's. Â The place was packed and the door prizes were phenomenal. Â I think everybody in the house left with a memento of the day. A GREAT time was had by all.
There's the bar, tables for groups and a separate room for gaming with poker machines and an old pin ball machine, more tables & chairs in the game room.
Three pool tables and ping pong available. Â The best juke box in Josephine County adds to a great time at Cody's.
Three TV's for your viewing pleasure. Â Nascar & sports are quite popular with the crowd.
This is also the go to place for kegs.
Last, but not least, a big shout out to Aaron, Laurie, Tye and all the other hard working people that make Cody's the special place it is.
