Apparently I'm not the only person out there who's stumbled upon this place but having been coming here for years now (about six of them) I've decided to bestow patron status upon myself and thus write a review to give it a shout-out.
If you've never done private-room karaoke, you're late, cause it's really awesome. If you think you need substances in your system in order to belt out some Killers or uh, Ace of Base (in my case), then they'll bring your adult beverages right to your room!
There's nothing more fun than doing private-room karaoke with a group of your friends and people can come hang out on the comfy vinyl couches whether they choose to grab a mike or not. The experience will cost you about $35/hour so the more folks you bring, the cheaper the bill - and you can stay 2, 3, 4 hours without noticing the time fly by.
I know I didn't actually provide any helpful information but bring cash, learn to search the menu by artist (the folks who work there will help you, as everything is in Korean), there's extra parking behind Max's (the falafel place on the end of the same strip mall), the staff are really helpful and will attend to your needs (new batteries for the mike, turning on the AC, searching for songs, etc.) and the place looks somewhat shady from the outside but is a perfectly great establishment.
Enjoy!
HOLE IN THE WALL!! ^_____^
I had so much fun here. The rooms are themed by famous cities/countries, which is different from what I've seen before. The rooms are pretty spacious and the seating is comfortable. It's one of your standard Korean Karaoke places, but they put a poster of the remote in English (so now I can use the remote wherever I go!).
Oh, did I mention they have a FULL BAR!!! That's pretty much a first for me. Usually it's just Soju, Beer, and/or wines, but this place had full on liquors. And they make pretty good mixed drinks from their menu.
This karaoke place is great and not super busy, like other I've been to. I'd highly recommend it, but it is somewhat hard to find (hence being a hole in the wall).
Just went here this past weekend with a group of friends, and we had a blast! This place is awesome with great service! The staff was accommodating and came in whenever we had trouble with the technology. They brought us free popcorn and even gave us a discount in the end!
The rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable with a great selection of songs! We drank and sang some 90's songs!
Highly recommend checking out this intimate karaoke spot, give it a shot and you'll have a great time!
I was looking for a good Korean noraebang experience and by golly, I got it. Lasers, tambourines, the whole 9 yards. The system is exactly the same as a Korean one, with the added bonus of translations for the controller posted to the wall (though it certainly helps to read Korean).
It's only about a 10 minute walk from the Wheaton metro, which was a huge plus. Be sure to go out the Kiss & Ride parking garage side! It will save you a lot of time.
The song catalogue was good - although the Korean song selection was not as up to date as I was hoping (I wanted to sing Big Bang's Blue) - but it had all my favorites and that's what matters!
We didn't get any of the free tablefood that was mentioned, but we did pay for fried chicken and fries, which were phenomenal. Their fried chicken tastes just like the way they do it at Takoya in Korea - crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The fries were also great, and came on a huge platter.
When it was all said and done, the bill was $150 for 6 people + food singing for about 3 hours. A bit pricey (but I'm comparing this to Korea where these places are everywhere) but SO worth it if you're craving a bit of classic Korean style karaoke.
The best part of the night was walking out at midnight to the bar area and finding a group of middle-aged Korean men and women drinking and singing sappy old-school Korean love ballads. Classic!!!
this place is phenomenal. went on a weekend with 12 friends. had a blast. drink prices about normal. they brought tons of free tablefood (popcorn, fries, etc.) and were very nice and gave us a free hour.
would give it zero stars so it stays a secret awesome spot, but the people there are so nice (and it is a trip!) that i gotta be honest and throw them the 5/5.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. It is a karaoke gem. They've got private karaoke rooms of varying sizes for your renting pleasure (cheap when split among friends), as well as a front karaoke room that I've never seen anybody actually use. Well, no, correction, one time there was a middle-aged guy earnestly crooning a song in Korean to an audience of 0 (not including the bartender). Inspiring!
Anyway, the heart and soul of this place are the private rooms, which have couches around the walls, blasting speakers, and colorful disco lights. I think they even provide tambourines (though it's possible my friends have just been bringing those every time?). Waitstaff will happily deliver alcohol to your room without blinking an eye at the sweaty, enthused singers and dancers shouting song lyrics and gyrating on couches as they revel in the fact that no one outside their private utopia can see them making asses of themselves.
My favorite part of the whole setup is the tv screens that display lyrics over random korean music videos. As in, the videos bear no relevance whatsoever to the song being sung. One memorable example: the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" playing over a video depicting the story of a young asian woman whose two lovers discover each other and engage in a brutal, slow-motion fight that leaves both dead while the object of their affection cries in a pool of blood amongst an inexplicable shower of flower petals. So awesome.
The song selection is massive, and the binders come in both English and Korean.
Oh, and yes, it's in a mildly shady Wheaton strip mall.
Oh gosh! I can't believe I'd forgotten to review this! First off, I've been here about 4 times, and had a wonderful experience each time.
Lemme start out by saying that the management is a riot! And its not because they don't know what they're doing but because of their mannerisms/dress/style/demeanor. When I went, the manager had on platform-ish dress shoes and a suit jacket/overcoat with fur-trim lapels. So from that you already know you're going to have a good time.
I organized 2 visits here with my friends, sans family/other adults. I called ahead and (here's a plus for being Korean!) asked about their rates and they were really receptive and accommodating.
I love the location - it's actually in Maryland and it's not SO sleazy, unlike some of the other places. Inside, you get your own room and the decor is pretty nice, last time I went, each room is themed after a city, with a few pictures and names on the doors. They have everything - moving lights, colored lights, and tambourines (some that light up!) so I'd call it a solid, genuine Korean noraebang experience. They have a wide variety of songs, from "Sister Golden Hair" to "Low" and Korean/Japanese/Chinese songs and a few other languages.
Only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because I don't really have other karaoke places/noraebang to compare it to and I didn't try the food here either on any occasion.
I'll also add that I went rather early (around 6-8ish each time) to avoid any possible rowdy people who come later since it's open until about 2-3AM, I think.
This Korean lounge place gets bonus points for being one of the only private room karaoke options in the DC area... Â and loses some points for having fully dark tinted windows and being in a shady-looking strip mall in Wheaton with a group of equally shady drunken older Asian men that hang out at the front bar...
It's a lot of fun once you get a large group of your friends into a private room, though!!! Â The rooms are big enough to comfortably hold about 12 people, with a large table in the middle for whatever drinks/food you order. Â Their food is good, especially the fried chicken. Â They offer many Korean items on the menu, but the fried chicken is crispy and juicy deliciousness. Â Some of the songs are the midi-version karaoke instead of the real music recording, and they don't have all the latest hits (seems to be a few months delay on getting new songs), but my friends and I were still entertained for 5 hours the last time we went. Â We found fun songs to sing from a really wide variety of music (Beatles, ABBA, Pearl Jam, Madonna, Queen, Backstreet Boys, Metallica, Journey, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, etc.) Â I am definitely going back soon when I can get another group together!
