Dietle's Tavern

It was love at first sight.

The first time I drove by this place, which despite being right on Rockville Pike seems hidden, I knew it was meant to be.

This place is not for the faint of heart. What I mean is if you're looking for a nicely furnished bar with lots of beer options or cocktails (Hell, I don't think they even have liquor) or even food (unless your idea of dinner is a buffet of Utz chips, pretzels, etc), then is DEFINITELY not the place for you.

This place takes me back to my college days of drinking in scuzzy bars with cheap beer and old men that have nothing else to do but drink and tell stories of the glory days (which is probably one of the reasons I love it so much).

Anyway, come for the stupidly cheap beer (I'm pretty sure it's $2.75 during happy hour), stay for the people watching and excellent stories.

This place is a historical landmark. Many a beer have been drank and good times had over the years. Dietle's attracts the coolest people on earth.

Always playing classic rock and country.  Now accepts credit cards.  Saw a guy that looked like ZZ Top hustling the pool table.  Apparently the chili is yummy according to the sign behind the bar.  No Liquor unfortunately.  Very limited supply of beer on tap. Beer to go.   Normal people go here.  Not the regular Bethesda or hoity toity Dupont crowd.
