After having a good lunch with a friend my wife suggested this restaurant for a good friends birthday dinner. What a mistake. The food was fair but the waiter and manager were horrible. The filet we ordered med rare came out well and then when we didn't want it they brought another one, guess what, this one was rare almost raw. So one would think that someone would come over to our table and apologize but that never happened. What they did do however was to insult us again by charging us 50% for that filet! The filet we didn't eat. To make matters worse the waiter came over and said that we did eat a bite and you know the filets are very expensive and the restaurant is losing money on this meal...my reply was..how about cooking it correctly so I could enjoy the $30 filet...ok here is where it goes over the edge of poor service to being just rude...the waiter brought out the manager who then took the meal off and as the waiter comes by he drops off the paid check and said he doesn't need a tip! I was going to give him a tip but then he had the nerve to say that this is why small businesses are closing because customers don't pay for their meals even though they were cooked wrong..I mean really? This is how we were treated after having a bill over $200 for dinner with wine etc...never will we step foot in The Oakville Grill and beware if you order something that was not cooked to your liking...

We stumbled on this little place while checking out the market next door.  We were promptly seated and the greeter took our coats for us.  We decided to try the Reuben sandwich and the Oakville burger.  We were a little dissapointed that the waiter mistakenly ordered an open faced chicken sandwich instead of the Reuben, which meant we didn't get to completely enjoy our meal together.  The burger was very good and cooked perfectly medium as ordered.  I asked for a side of their mayo to dip my fries in and found it amazing!  It is mixed with herbs and is delightful.  When the Reuben finally made it to the table the meat looked fresh and tasty, but unfortunately fell flat on taste, being rather bland overall.  I like a Reuben with a bit of a sour kick from the meat, sauerkraut, or at least the dressing.  The potatoe salad that accompanied it was outstanding.  Not a bad place at all if you find yourself in the area.

Three and a half stars, rounded up.

We have been to Oakville Grille twice, once recently.

There's nothing spectacular about the restaurant, but it's a bit of a rarity in MoCo in that if you're looking for well-made, good melting-pot American food, Oakville will provide it.  Far better than places like the American Tap Room or Cafe Deluxe, hardly as spectacular as the places you'll eat downtown, it serves an affluent population in MoCo.

The nicest thing about Oakville is it combines a number of cuisines and styles, subtly mixed into American style cooking, so you can bring just about anyone there and they'll find something that's normal to them.

The downside is that there's no upside - there's nothing at all amazing about anything you'll eat at Oakville and you won't find it transcendent, but you'll never get a bad meal.  It's priced accurately for the quality.

I mean, don't take my word for it, look at the menu.  There aren't three words on there you won't understand, everything is well-described.  It's a fantastic, amazing place to bring grandparents, and it's not unsuitable for children.  It's a pretty restaurant without being lavish.  Absolutely average for upscale dining.
