Not sure why this place has such good ratings. Â I've eaten here multiple times and its adequate at best. Â The place is kind of dingy and dusty to say the least. Â The is passable, but def don't expect anything better than passable. Â I've noticed it's not the cleanest place, i.e. dirty silverware. Â If you compare Connolly's to a restaurant in Freeport on the Mile its great, however if its compared to let's say Mary Macnamarra's in Lynbrook its the pits!
Review Source:Connolly's is a great local bar with friendly bartenders and a welcoming atmosphere. Â The crowd here is older, not many young people hanging around even on a Friday or Saturday night. Â If you are looking for a bar with a dance floor and a bunch of immature college kids trying to impress each other, maybe you should go some place else. Â If you want to sit, relax, and have a good time drinking while hanging out with a few of your buddies, then go to Connolly's. Â It's a good place to begin or end an evening of drinking if you decide to go bar-hopping.
There are plenty of televisions scattered throughout the bar if you want to watch the big game or local news, and on those nice evenings you can sit outside in the patio area and enjoy your food or drinks.
The food served here is traditional bar food. Â Don't come here expecting a gourmet meal. Â If you decide to eat here, stick with the fried foods...chicken wings, calamari, Irish nachos, french fries, etc. Â Very hard to mess those up.
What can I say, I love Connolly's! The staff here is always friendly and provide quick service. Â The drinks are decently priced and they have a good selection of beer on tap. They have great food (my favorite is the Connolly burger). I frequent this place a lot, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly atmosphere to just hang out and have a few drinks.
Review Source:Walked in with my date before 5 and was brought to the last table just outside the kitchen and utility doors in a dark corner. Place was not full. Asked for a nicer location and was told we needed reservations.. so was moved to the bar on a very slanted table nearby the back door. ok.. was hungry so.. My date ordered a stuffed shrimp (stuffed with crab meat). We asked if it was real crab and was told absolutely yes. When it came it was plain that it was very FAKE crab meat. The server did not show up after we started the meal.. Also the green beans on our plates looked like they were on the kitchen floor all day and reboiled. (grayish) Maybe you have to drink heavily to appreciate the place.. I would not go back there.
Review Source:There is a certain atmosphere, which makes it a little more unique than the normal diner.
I walked away with a full stomach and the prices were not bad.
The only negative is that we had to pull the waitress over to our table, but considering it is a saturday night, I will let it pass.
i'm sad connolly's doesn't have a presence on yelp! i will be the first to review.
this is a cute little restaurant/pub right next to the malverne train station. you can feel the chairs and floors vibrate whenever a train comes in and out, which is part of the charm.
it's a local favorite - my good friend from the area has been coming to connolly's for years. she swears by their burgers and gets them every time.
i can say that the jalapeno poppers are yummy and the salads are fresh and good. it's good bar food and it's fun to sit in the big wooden booths!
the waitstaff is super nice, and they have good beer on tap.
now i know 2 places to drink in LI, croxley's ale house, and here.
