Decided on the Dairy Palace after so many Yelp reviews bragged on the burgers....we found the atmosphere pleasant for a burger joint and the onion rings are hand battered and some of the best I have had...ordered the Bacon cheeseburger, how can I say this, found that the paddy was almost burnt, lacked much of any taste and over all was a disappointment ...wife had the chicken strips and said they were wonderful.... We will come back next time we are in town and give the burger another chance...

What can I say, great food, and lots of it.  I had breakfast and 8:30pm and boy was it good.  Biscuits are perfect and huge.  My husband had a chicken fried steak sandwich and loved it.  No complaints here.

I love me some game meat!  My preference in the big angry meat category is elk--and hot damn it's on the menu.  I will have a 1/4 lb elk burger with bacon, habanero jack, mayo and all the fixins.  And I love that I get to stare at the FFA prize animal photos all over the walls while I eat!  This would cover the cute meat category of goats, chickens and pigs.  Kudos, prize winning prepubescent farmers and ranchers!

They also tout a lot of "World Famous" in this place.  They have World Famous Hamburgers and World Famous Iced Tea.

I'm not sure how you can score such a thing, but the food here is solid.  The hamburger patties, doesn't matter whether beef, bison, venison or elk, are pinched around the edges so you get some char grill flavor on it.  Fried pickles were in a spicy cornmeal.  I feel like it's homemade and not just purchased at their not-so-local Sam's.

And yes, they do have a LOT'O'BLUEBELL going on.  The long line of folks waiting to order a burger, all had ice cream cones in their hands.  I can dig the desert first vibe.

My kind of breakfast joint! We stopped here on a snowy morning just after Christmas. It was early in the morning but the kitchen was fired up and ready to go.

I definitely over-ordered by asking for a sausage biscuit AND biscuit and gravy. I was expecting a portion of biscuit and gravy akin to that at Hardee's, but the Dairy Palace's version has TWO biscuits generously heaped with white sawmill gravy. Very, very good biscuit and gravy - one of the best I've had at a fast food restaurant!

We ordered our food to go and the biscuit and gravy came in one of those disposable pans the same way the Tex-Mex places send out their to-go orders.

I was also impressed with the sausage biscuit because, well, it tasted different than almost every sausage biscuit I've had at this kind of place. Just like the biscuit and gravy, the biscuit on the sausage biscuit was very fluffy and good, and the sausage patty was large and not nearly as greasy as those nasty sausage patties at McDonald's, Burger King, Steak-N-Shake, etc.

I will say one of my dining partners ordered a breakfast burrito that I thought was undersized for the price. Speaking of prices, they are a bit higher than you will find at a McD's for breakfast, but they are within in reason, maybe $5-7 per person.

All-in-all, this is a can't miss place for breakfast (which I believe they serve at all hours). This is a restaurant in the classic style of Interstate-stop-off as part of the Great American Roadtrip. Their logo and approach are somewhat vintage, but the food is good and the experience a lot more memorable than eating yet another hashbrown in a paper sleeve.

We're in Canton helping host the 2012 National Dutch Oven Gathering at the Canton Civic Center. This restaurant came highly recommended. Of the 4 meals we were served, only one of them was good. In fact my brother-in-laws chicken fried steak was returned and swapped out for a hamburger. He said the burger was barely passable. I also had a chicken friend steak and found it very greasy and made from "processed" meat. My wife's chicken sandwich was just OK, that's all. The highlight of the meal was my Blue Bell Chocolate Malt. How can you mess up a malt? Also the fried pickles were very good.

Food is always great. we stop here every time we head to dallas area. They have the best hamburgers and home made onion rings. Top that off with some blue bell ice cream shake or malt. You cant wrong.

    Yuk! Over priced fast food!
I wanted to try the BBQ nearby but we stopped here instead. Mistake. Thought it would be amazing based on the cars and line inside.
It's basically Dairy Queen or Sonic.
We ordered 3 kids meals- burger/corn dog/nuggets (not nuggets- O's) got burger wrong.
No combo's here- order burger or sandwich and sides and drinks-
    Salmon/Bison/Catfish/Venison or regular
We got 2-bacon cheeseburger's with extra, extra crunchy bacon (it was fatty & undercooked) but the meat was gross- I think it was a mix of all those stated above- haha! Dry and over cooked and NO flavor. I ate a few bites then threw it away.
We got a dbl bacon cb- my daughter had the chicken strips and they all tried and LOVED those! Thin, crunchy.
Sides: we chose onion rings (just like Sonic version), corn nuggets (best things I had), fried pickles (just like Chicken Express), curly fries- like rubber so no one ate them- even hubby who eats anything said horrible. Plus large drinks all around- $78.00!!

Worst $$ I've spent- plus the money you spend on all the tons of video games the little ones played-

Blue Bell ice cream- Really? We got 6 and it was terrible! The peach/vanilla had NO flavor, the orange sherbet, which half fell off the cone bc they didnt pack it right (or iffer to replace) tasted yuck, etc. they couldn't get the cone type right- ordered sugar gave waffle- then tried to charge us to fix it! (sugar is CHEAPER!)
    Portions are teeny tiny!

All in all- if you want the chicken strips- stop by if you have about 20 mins to wait.

We WON'T come back. We're going to the BBQ place on the trip back thru.

Decent food, but expect to spend some money if you want fries and a drink with your order around $9. Lots of types of food and good sweet tea. They also have made you varieties of Blue Bell there. I like there Chicken steak sandwich. Large establishment lots of staff to assist you and very clean. It's open 24 hours a day. And it's always full, and the bathrooms are tiny.

This place is pretty interesting. It's clear that the locals prefer it 3:1 over the nearby Dairy Queen. I think the decor has got to largely original. It just feels like you are stepping back into the "diner era" in middle America.

The shakes are hand dipped, weighed out, and blended well. Very tasty!

Doesn't get much better than the toasted burger buns with melted Cheddar covered with jalapenos. Glad I pass through several times a year. This place is a classic.

Well to start off, this place is famous around east Texas and even people out of state. Typical pit stop for travelers which keeps this place running. Its famous for its burgers even though most of the people I know never order it.

    1. The food here is pretty good for the most part. Well cooked compared to other small diner/restaurant type places. Only thing I would suggest is not to order the nachos because it was very poorly made last time I went there.

    2. Open 24/7 - My favorite part about this place. Definitely adds to their business because there's nothing in this town open late except for 1 other place.

    3. The staff could use some work. I knew a guy that worked here and he hated his job for several reasons, plus you can tell some of them are just in a bad mood.

    4. This place gets REALLY busy during first Monday trade days and also after local football games. Bad part about this is that they are VERY slow with taking orders and getting the food out.

The other downside I found is that the parking lot seems really small. Not sure where people park on really busy days.

So so burgers and a lot of "old time religion"  i.e. free bibles, but lots and lots of blue bell ice cream!  Open 24/7, which in itself is a reason to go cuz that's just downright unheard of out here!

Burger was great. Wasn't sure what to expect out here in the middle of nowhere, but was pleasantly surprised. Can't speak to the ice cream, because I didn't have any, but the selection is massive for those who would like to enjoy some.

Right off of I-20--very easy to find. If you are flying into Dallas and heading east, its worth the stop if you want a good burger. Also open 24 hr.

Amazing is the only word that comes to mind. They do one heck of a breakfast and they do it well. Any wait is well worth it, with this being in "Bible Belt Central" anytime after church dismissal and during First Monday will be packed. I've made the mistake of going elsewhere out of starvation, but you WILL regret not waiting for your chance to eat some of the best homemade food in East Texas. I love this place so much that I refuse to deduct for the fact they need to expand big time and get a better ventilation system so that us non-smokers can eat without being poisoned.

Yeah OK, this place has decent food. Its not bad at all. I would not call it epic but I'll give it credit where credit is due. It is a good wholesome burger joint. The interior is very average and everything about it screams middle America. The food was good. For all of us from the West Coast, food here is comparable to In-N-Out Burger perhaps slightly better. I had a cheeseburger and fries with coleslaw. It filled my hunger and did not make me sick. Then again by this time I had racked up 4 thousand miles through middle America so my standards were low.

The down side was the over the top Patriotism. Posters of all sort of military support for people who serve abroad. I mean don't get me wrong but this seems like the only thing Americans from the middle of the country are supportive of. Let me restate this, why can't I ever walk into a Burger joint and have posters on the wall showing support for local teachers or local scientists or any sort of scholarly achievers? Why can't we have posters of social activists? Middle America supports only three things Military, Sports and Church (in no particular order). This makes me feel uneasy that soon we will be a nation of fundamentalist jocks who sometimes serve in the armed forces. Good burger though.

Also the place has a very large crowd capacity but the bathrooms have only one stall. Not good customer appreciation. Whatever I'll never be here again. If you want decent food right off the freeway. Come to the Dairy Palace other than that... keep driving.

Great selection of Blue Bell ice cream!
Just grabbed a cone on the run since it was so hot, but the place was full of people, all ordering food, so it must be pretty good!

Do NOT go to Canton First Mondays without visiting this place. I don't care if you've been eating Turkey Legs and Cotton Candy and Dublin Dr. Pepper and Fried Fatty Brownie on a Stick covered with sprinkles. Just make it a Roman feast and make this your last stop.

Winter, fall, spring, summer...doesn't matter. Get the fried corn nuggets. Embrace their breaded crust and buttery, gooey creamed corn innards. Marvel at the technology that made such art possible.

Then get a Blue Bell milkshake from one of the 183 flavors.

If you have room (of course you do!) get a 1/4 baby burger because you're "on a diet."

I'm sorry, are there Freedom Fries here??? YES. 'MERICA. (Flag waving solemnly in the air.)

Then admire the red-and-yellow color scheme and the FFA pictures of young children and their livestock on the wall.

Salute the flag and say the Pledge of Allegiance while a tear slowly rolls down your face.

    Heart you, Dairy Palace.

On our way to LA, we have to stop @ the Dairy Palace! Of course they are known for their great burgers.......my favorite is the 1/5 lb. Bacon Cheeseburger w onion rings. The Bacon is Crisp & the Hamburger Meat (ground fresh daily) is soooo good, served on a buttered & grill-toasted bun!....the buttered bun gives it that EXTRA Yum Factor! It's EXACTLY the same.....EVERY TIME! We can't leave without my hubby gettin' a Double of Cherry Cream or Lemon Custard & me supporting my cup of Double Mint Chocolate Chip. The Malts are great, too!

If you need a "Burger Fix"x while blasting through Canton, TX.....you might give Dairy Palace a try....It won't Disappoint ! ! ! (First Monday & Sunday's are very very busy.....but, it's worth the wait.

It a pretty pricy burger but worth it if you are driving through Canton, TX on interstate 20.  I stop here anytime I'm at first Monday's trade days in canton another must visit or just driving to the great state of Louisiana.  French fries are average onion rings are good.  You order and they bring the food too you.  Old school.  The ice cream parlor reminds you of the good old days when you just go and eat home made blue bell ice cream.  Overall a great spot for a quick bite that's good!

This is the greasiest spoon of all.  A totally fast-food joint that is locally owned.  If you come here you have to do the fries and the rings.  Great big order and totally great.  Great burgers (they grind their own meat daily).  A fun place to stop with kids and a good place to meet up with old friends.  (Not a lot of options in town - so this is the spot).

Unbelievable!!!  Best burger and rings I've ever had!!!  My mouth is salivating as I write this and thinking of the meal I had last Saturday.  Wish we had the quality of beef here in Dallas for the low price.  This place is worth the drive!

Back in Canton and back at Dairy Palace.  Tried the chicken fried steak this time.  It is not as good as the burger was last time.  It seemed to be a formed meat patty with breading that was like a too large coat.    Also tried the chocolate shake and it was wonderful.  Still get 4 stars because I remember the burger and the service was great.

If you are on I-20 between Dallas and Shreveport and you are hungry, this is the absolute best place you are going to find.

They have everything from burgers to breakfast to Mexican food. And they are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. They have very good burgers and the blue bell ice cream is a great treat for the road weary traveler. It is not gourmet. By the same token, it is not truck stop food. It is privately owned, non-chain, cooked to order fast food.

I strongly recommend avoiding the drive-thru if you are in a hurry. I have waited up to 30 minutes in my car before. Just go in, order and get it to go.

The employees are generally competent and nice. The place is relatively clean. It is an institution for those of us who have to burn up I-20 on a regular basis.

    Smiley face.

Dairy Palace has been in Canton for many years and TONS of people have eaten at this joint. I was really excited that everything lined up and we were able to go for lunch. My daughter and I stopped by after doing a little work for the City of Canton, I had the Double Bacon Cheese Burger with fries, she rocked the kids cheeseburger. Nothing CRAZY but good, the place is clean and well kept for the amount of people that pass through everyday. We were sort of next to the bathroom and it was the most used room in the place. When in Canton stop by and get a burger just to say you've been there.

I am not a huge hamburger eater but wowza! My favorite is THE SPOT in Galveston but Dairy Palace is a major contender with the spot! My bf's family has been pre-ordering the patties for days at the lake. After a few cold beers and a ride on the jet ski, that thin, slightly greasy beef patty tastes like heaven. This is defiantly one of those rare, mom & pop, back country burger joints.

    Aaaaahhhhhh.

Best fast food burger ever.  Better than In n Out.  Better than Whataburger.

They grind their own meat daily.  Burgers are cooked when you order them.  Fresh, tasty veggies.

If the fries aren't cut on site too, I'd be shocked.  Perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

Dairy Palace will be a regular stop on my way to LA now.

It's a typical family friendly burger joint.

Plenty of newspapers to purchase, plus a play are for kids.

The best part is the Blue Bell Ice Cream section with cones, floats, shakes, etc...  goes great with Tater Tots.

My Dad loves the Bison (Buffalo) Burger

They really do make a good burger. Please be aware that while this place looks like a QuickieMcBurger, it is not. Everything is made to order so it takes a little time. Don't worry, it's worth it.

Order at the counter and then find a yellow table. Open 24/7

This is one of my favorite burgers on earth. I sometimes find myself taking a break from my roadtrips down I-20 to stop here and grab a burger. They're open 24/7 so when you're near canton and you see that big yellow sign, pull off and grab yourself one of these awesome burgers.

No trip to the Canton Flea Market can be complete without a stop at the World Famous Dairy Palace.  Everything is made fresh so no cold, soggy fries or onion rings.  We had the burger, steak burger, onion rings, and sweet tea.  Unfortunately, we didn't have enough room for the desserts.  The malts, shakes, ice creams are all made from Blue Bell ice cream and look incredible.  They weigh the amount of ice cream they put in each dessert so quality is consistent.  Anyways, it's well worth a visit and a fine end to a tiring flea market day.
